I loved the complementary valet at the restaurant. Service was phenomenal. You walk in receive a complementary cup of ranch water. Once you take the elevator up you are shown to your table and given complementary bread. While I waited on my friends I had sushi. The view on the elevator and from the restaurant were nice. It was a group of 4 so we split a larger steak and had the sides trio and 2 Caesar salads. The steak was delicious. The Mac and cheese was good. MUST READ EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW... SUPER SHADY!!! If you DO GO... BE prepared. The whole experience is a money grab wrapped in nice scenery. Here's what happened, step by step: "Complimentary" Valet... But Only if You Tip!!! When we called, they said valet was complimentary. When we arrived, it was just street parking in front of the building. The "valet" told us we had to tip her first or she wouldn't move the car literally moved it five feet. Major scammy vibes right away. It's clear this isn't valet at all, just an upselling gimmick. You keep your key, and when you leave, your car is just there...no valet in sight. DOUBLE STANDARD DRESS CODE My friend wore ripped jeans and was asked to change. Thankfully he had his luggage in his car. He quickly swapped into a clean, high-end white set with nice shorts that were definitely not casual. Then they claimed his shorts were "too casual" and said they'd have to ask a manager. Meanwhile, a woman in RIPPED JEANS walked right in with no issue. We stood there waiting while they debated if he was "acceptable," even after seeing the obvious double standard. Eventually, a manager "made an exception." Completely stressful and unfair. Rushed Service After Their Own Delay Due to the dress code fiasco, we weren't seated until 9 PM, an hour before closing. Our server started off friendly but quickly became pushy, constantly reminding me the kitchen was closing and saying, "You have 60 seconds." My friends ordered but I had a difficult time choosing an entree as I am a pickier eater. When I said I'd skip the entrée and just enjoy my sides, he insisted I order more. It didn't make sense...if the kitchen's closing, why keep pushing me to order? It felt like he was just trying to sell as much as possible and rush us out. Misleading, dishonest server... So... I finally decide on what I want. I asked what kind of chicken came with the gnocchi, and the server said it was a piece with skin and bone, like a leg. I asked if they could substitute grilled chicken breast instead. Suddenly, he changed his story: "Oh, I mixed it up. The chicken you can add on (for an extra $15) actually is grilled breast." It wasn't. What showed up was clearly rotisserie style chicken, skin and all. He clearly switched up the story just to upsell me, hoping I wouldn't notice. When I pointed it out, he even claimed he "saw the kitchen grilling it," which is actually insane...like I wouldn't know the difference between grilled chicken breast and rotisserie? Thankfully, my friend stepped in, and they eventually took it off the bill...but the whole thing felt shady, dishonest, and insulting. Final Thoughts The view is gorgeous. Everything else felt shady, inconsistent, and unnecessarily stressful. Despite having a reservation, we waited 30 minutes to be seated and only got one hour of rushed dining. They'll charge you for valet that isn't valet, enforce dress codes selectively, and upsell you on food + be dishonest about what you're getting to sell more. When you first walk in you'll get a complimentary ranch water as you wait for the elevator to go up the restaurant. Once you go up, a host will greet you to your table. All the servers were very attentive and were quick to refill your water and take empty plates away. We ordered drinks, appetizers, a main dish, and dessert, and it took a really long time for each course to come. I had very high expectations for this place. They tout being Michelin recommended on the web page, but I don't know how this was decided. The waiter, Christopher, was fairly rude and not friendly at all. I see why for a "fine" restaurant, they have a forced gratuity of 18% on a table of two. My assessment of this place is that they are a mid-grade restaurant that masquerades as a fine dining establishment due to their location, only. Absolutely Amazing Anniversary/Birthday/Promotion Dinner! My partner Jason and I came to Crown Block for our anniversary dinner, and let me just say--this place did not disappoint. Despite showing up 45 minutes late due to traffic, accidents, and just living far away, the staff was still incredibly kind and accommodating. We were worried about the dress code, but honestly, business casual or even nice jeans and a top would be totally fine. The atmosphere was lively with families and kids around--and they were all well-behaved! Now, let's talk about the food and service--both were excellent. The view and ambiance were absolutely perfect, making the whole experience even more special. I devoured my chicken veggie pasta, and Jason made it through most of his massive cut of meat. We also enjoyed a bottle of wine, espresso martinis, and every single dessert we could get our hands on--and yes, they were all worth it. A huge shout-out to our amazing waitstaff, who went above and beyond to make our night special. We even asked them to write their names on our receipt so we could give them the recognition they deserve... and then I lost the receipt. Make sure to videotape it while going up. He ordered the Filet mignon which was very tender and juicy. And paired with the red onion marmalade was perfect. I ordered the green circle chicken which was pretty good. The sides we got were the mashed potatoes which was very creamy, if you're into that. The triple cooked fries wasn't all that great. It just tasted like over fried fries and was very few for $16. And the Mac & cheese waffle had the cooked cheese taste, which was interesting to eat. They also sent over a birthday plate with 2 cookies, 2 cake pops and a sparkler. Our waiter Jake was also very friendly. We were coming for our anniversary and they had the entire staff sign a card for us, which I appreciated. It was a nice touch. The sides, the carrots were great, the onion rings were pretzel crusted, had some pretty good flavor, the mashed potatoes were a disappointment. They promised super buttery flavor, and they were just regular Yukon gold. We split a dessert and it was delicious. The staff was friendly. They did seem to disappear at times. I'm sure some of that was to let us enjoy the dinner, but they never asked if we wanted additional cocktails. Our view of the city was outstanding. I'd love to come back and catch a sunset from here. My husband's birthday was on a Sunday this year, so we decided to celebrate it by going to Crown Block for their Sunday brunch. So, I asked our server if it would be possible to box up my entree to take home. She was happy to accommodate. I was so pleased! My husband loved the sliders and the unique fries that accompanied them. He also indulged in my chicken and waffles for breakfast the next day and said they were delicious! Just want to point out that they do not offer full breakfast fare (eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.) on the buffet. They do have plenty of breakfast pasties though if that is your thing. I went straight for shrimp, oysters and sushi. I also tried some of the turkey and roast beef from the carving station. Overall, everything was exceptional. I'm taking one star away though because the buffet lacks veggies and side dishes to go along with the meats from the carving station. My husband also pointed out he would have liked to see a pasta dish or two on the buffet as well. We ended our brunch with tasty desserts. The chocolate banana cake was out of this world! You also have to ask for the free bread but it's so fluffy and cheesy- it's a must! We got 2 sunset sours ($15) and a dirty martini ($20). The sunset sour was super tart and subtle- great drink! The pork chops ($39) were huge and well seasoned. I got mine rare and they did it perfectly. Definitely best bang for your buck. We got a flight of sides ($33) and it comes with 3 options. We got the fries, onion rings, and broccolini. The fries were huge and you can actually taste the potatoes. Onion rings were ok (I'd swap it) and the broccoli was super smoky if you're into that. I think if the side options were better I'd give this 5 stars versus the 4. The food can only be described as comically awful. I had the misfortune of experiencing brunch here, and the prices are astronomical for what you get--room temperature food, a non-cohesive menu, bare-minimum service, and views of graffitied rooftops and abandoned parking lots. The buffet was a disaster. Nearly everything was inedible. The prime rib at the carving station was room temperature, full of gristle, and impossible to enjoy. The sushi looked sad and dull, not on ice, and presumably also room temp. I didn't dare try it. The quiche tasted like it had been reheated from frozen--and again, was room temperature. Hoping the entrees might redeem things, we were sorely disappointed. We ordered the B.E.L.T., which promised soft scrambled eggs. What arrived were cold, overcooked, brown eggs that looked like they had stuck to a pan hours earlier. The rest of the sandwich was flavorless and soggy. We also tried the Kellogg-crusted French toast. One piece was so undercooked it was basically custard, with no sign of actual bread. The other piece had a normal texture, but of course, it too was room temperature. At this point, we gave up on hot food and turned to dessert for some kind of redemption. No luck. The strawberry shortcake was rock hard and required a sawing motion just to cut into. The macaroons were the wrong consistency, the cinnamon buns were dry all the way through, and the cinnamon donuts were hollow on the inside. I was actually grateful most of the items had no flavor--because the few that did were downright unpleasant. The service matched the food. Gratuity is included, which may explain the total lack of engagement. We had to wave down our server every time we needed anything, and it felt like we were bothering him just by existing. If you're looking to spend $200 on the worst brunch imaginable (and we didn't even order drinks), or if you're hoping to prank someone with a meal they'll never forget--in all the worst ways--this is the place to go. read more

It was quality, and tasty. I can't say I haven't had better, but given the holistic experience, it was more than sufficiently satisfying. Food: Delicious! I got the steak and my husband got the salmon, both very good. We also got the side trio which was nice to have a few options. Ambiance: Cool experience going to the restaurant. Valet out front, little alcoholic bev while waiting for the elevator, dress code. The view would have been much nicer if the sun wasn't still up so that's our fault. The shades were pulled down which blocked the view quite a bit (but understandably so). Service: Fancy, nice, we went for my birthday and they brought some free pastries and a signed card which was very nice. My husband asked for something special for my bday (not knowing there'd be something coming regardless) so we got the notorious banana bread cake and it had a firework candle coming out of it. Made for a cute photo :) Is it worth the money?? No. Maybe I would feel differently if it was a great nighttime view? But $250 for 2 meats, a side trio, and 2 drinks.. not worth that much for me. read more
