Called Crown Plumbing yesterday to address a plumbing leak in my crawl space and got an appointment for a plumber to arrive today between 8 and 10 am. A bit after 8 Pablo Chavez from Crown arrived, found the leak and the source of the "liquid" leaking before quoting the repair. All of the parts and tools were on the truck and the repair was complete, tested, and cleanup finished (and paid for) shortly after 10 am. I've reviewed Crown Plumbing in the past and we've always been happy with their service. But this time I wish there were a couple of extra stars. We have an annoying, complicated (and expensive) kitchen faucet and last night we had company and the whole thing got stuck. It was hard to move the lever and you couldn't really get to very hot or very cold water. I was worried that we'd have to buy a new faucet, which might take a while to get or get a different faucet which might mean replacing the surface on that side of the kitchen. But I called Crown the first thing this morning. Mike came over from Crown about thirty minutes later and fixed it in a flash. I don't think I've ever had better service from anyone, ever. This review is for a commercial space. Crown Plumbing was referred to me by San Jose Drain and Main as they don't do commercial. I have a backed up pipe that every time a toilet gets flushed, it is coming out at the floor drain (eew). I called them today, 11noon, Shane arrived within the hour, told him the run down in 2 mins then he started working. Got it going in about an hour. He told me what the issue was (someone flushed a bunch of wipes- previous tenant, we are new). So basically, all it took was 2 hours. I started for a plumber since last Friday and with the shelter in place order, it was quite difficult to get a hold of someone. I will be using them again, their number definitely will get plastered on the wall who to call in case of plumbing issue. This is a messy job but Shane made it professional. Terrible experience! Last year, one of their employees came out to fix a minor problem for me and we happened to get on the subject of all the work I need done. He said Crown also does home remodeling and I walked him through my two bathrooms that need remodeling so he could give me a quote on those and a full house repipe. I got the estimate and it seemed reasonable, but I needed to save money to pay for it. I saved money over months and then contacted them. By then the price had gone up quite a bit, which I understand because the price of everything is going up. Sadly, I didn't get any other estimates and they began work doing the repipe first (I have several complaints about the quality of work below), then the owner came to do a final walk-through of my bathrooms before starting them and stated that the estimate was always for ONE bathroom and I need a new estimate. FALSE! It was always for both baths and the other employee and I walked through them both times he was here and talked about what would be done to both. I even contacted the employee after looking over the estimate to say he forgot that I wanted a new tub and he never said, "What tub?" as my smaller bathroom they claim the quote was for has no tub, room for a standing shower only! I then got their estimate for $20k more. Get out of here! Just doing the repipe, they damaged my brand new fence and didn't say anything, used pieces of my new compost container they took from my backyard to hold down piles of dirt in my front yard, broke out tiles in my tub, which I didn't initially worry about because I thought they were remodeling the whole bathroom. They now say they never intended on remodeling that tub so apparently that's the quality of work (pictured) they expect their customers to live with! Then, I even told the employee that the kitchen sink was leaking after the repipe, he said he fixed it and no, it still leaks. I am a single mom who goes to school full time and works at for a public school, I am far from wealthy and now I have to find money to pay for someone else to fix my kitchen sink and repair tile in my bathroom because now water is getting into my wall -- it hurts to do this as the bathroom needs to be gutted, not repaired, but I'm sure I'm damaging my house further if I don't get this fixed right away. I also don't want to invite these people back into my house to fix the problems they created because I do not trust them. They also kept my $1k deposit that the owner said he was returning and also never repaid me to fix my fence they broke with what looks like a shovel. I am so sad I trusted them and didn't get more estimates because I think now I overpaid for their work. If you are wealthy maybe they will do better work for you, if not, avoid! read more

I can't thank Freddy and Crown Plumbing enough. Late Friday afternoon I broke my water main while excavating for a landscape project. Crown took my call and immediately scheduled service. Freddy arrive in 1hr.! He assessed the situation, went back to Crown's shop to get the special parts and equipment needed. He returned shortly thereafter and quickly fixed the broken pipe. To me, the important thing about a plumber is reliability. I went through a few plumbing companies before I found Crown. Crown Plumbing has been servicing my income-producing brownstone in Manhattan for many years. We're not one of their bigger clients, not by a long shot. But they treat us as if we were. They fix any issues with heating or leaks the day I call in. They check our boilers at the start of the winter. For some reason one of our boiler's pilot fails every couple of years. Aware of this, they always have thermocouples in the truck in preparation. And the couple of times that we've had a serious problem (it's an old building), they show up immediately any day of the week. Their reliability comes with very reasonable prices. We had a tough storm drain problem ... drain backing up in heavy rain. Pablo and his crew showed up and worked to get it as clear as they could ... the problem returned the next time it rained! They brought over the "Hydro Flush" machine and worked on the drains (3000 PSI) ... the drains got better ... but they backed up again and the crew came back (all under warranty) and finally found the blockage about 15 feet back from the curb in the storm drain system. Wow! totally fixed it this time using their high pressure equipment and plumbing savvy to clear a bunch of roots, mud, and stones from the drain. Works like a charm now ... much much appreciate their staying with the task until it was REALLY done and working ... BTW the first call was on Christmas eve ... no problem, over they came. These guys are great. I've had two interactions with them recently. They're now in my address book for future needs! 1. I put an offer on a house & had them come out for a detailed plumbing inspection. They found that the copper piping was bad and needed to be replaced. They were professional, friendly, and drew up a cost estimate immediately. Upon careful consideration, I decided to withdraw the offer and saved a ton of money as well as a big headache. 2. More recently, they came out to investigate a leak in my kitchen sink. Found the leak quickly and advised how I could fix it myself quickly and pretty easily. Addendum to my review of 7/20/21: I checked the San Jose Permits website and this is the language with regard to the mandating of permits: "1. It brings accountability with regard to workmanship and ensures the job is done correctly; 2. It's required by law and illegal work may incur citations and reconstruction costs and 3. Liability carriers will not cover the damages to or caused by the construction done without a permit." Crown Plumbing's estimator told me I don't need a permit and I got 2 substantially different estimates--one in person and one in writing, as detailed below. I got a reply and a phone call from the owner after I declined the double-the-cost written estimate, who told me the technician should have known better and was basically in error. After 25 years of installing hot water heaters, the technician, as well as the owner, are likely fully aware that permits are required or there is even a second serious problem. The permit requirement is the second issue. The 2,195.00 in-person estimate and the $4,351,00 written estimate an hour later is the first issue. I will not be doing business with them. I do not want anymore contact from the owner. My advice to consumers is get it in writing; check reviews and make sure you have a permit, which YOU, the consumer can get yourself at a FRACTION of the inflated cost. 7/20/21: Today I got an estimate in person from Crown Plumbing for $2,195.00 for a new hot water heater..."with no permit as permits are not required" per their representative and that a permit was approximately $500.00 more. The estimator indicated everything that he would need to do which included earthquake straps, a line down to the crawlspace, a drip pan, and all the accoutrements needed to complete the job. The only issue was whether to get a permit or not to get a permit. The in-person quoted price of $2,195.00 did not include a permit because I allegedly did not need one, the estimator said. Then, within an hour, I got a written estimate via email for $4,351.00 which included the earthquake straps, the pan, etc. Funny how the estimate doubled once the technician walked out of the door. So an in-person estimate was $2,195.00, then the REAL estimate in writing came in at $4.351.00, more than double what i was told by the company less than an hour earlier. I will not be doing business with a company who does things like this. Beware. read more

Don't mistake friendliness for great service. When we were renting, our landlord used these guys and the plumber that came out seemed nice enough. Since we weren't paying, what did it matter? Boy, is it a different story when you foot the bill. 1. Quoted us over $6k to replace a bit of galvanized pipe and a water heater. We had another company come out and did everything for less than $2k, including an upgraded Rheem water heater. 2. To give you an idea of their prices, $300 to replace a shower cartridge (part is anywhere between $20-50 and takes 15 minutes) and $200 to replace a shower diverter (again, part is $20-50 and is a 5 minute job). 3. When we called them to do some warranty work, they came out and claimed it wasn't covered by the warranty and because they were able to clean out the offending part, they didn't have to charge us. "Only $200 for the house call." WHAT?!? Sure, they send you a text to let you know they're on their way and can use an app to email you a quote, but if you end up getting ripped off in the end, is it all worth it? read more

No one ever likes having to call the plumber but they made the experience as painless as possible. We initially thought our water heater was leaking but the issue was actually from a pipe leaking in our walls. It took quite a bit of effort for Abram and his partner to find it and some maneuvering to fix the leak but they got it all taken care of within a day of us discovering the problem. Unfortunately (due to cost savings from the initial homebuilders) this is our 4th such experience within the past year...but they were the first plumbers to really insist that we install a shut off valve to our recirculation line (which the root cause of the problem) to try and prevent this from happening again. Walked out of my garage and noticed that the wooden pedestal that my water heater was placed on was damp. Upon inspection the whole pedestal was soaking wet that I figured the heater was leaking for a while now and needed replacement before more damage is done. To make my situation worse it was already late in the day and it was July 4th weekend so most plumber can no longer accommodate me. Called the person who installed my water softener and he is swamped for the next 2 weeks so he recommended someone else but still a no go since his supplier is already closed for the holiday and won't open back up 'till after the holiday and so I was recommended another person. Alas Aron from Crown Plumbing was more than willing to help me out and scheduled me for the next day (Saturday July 3rd) for a complete swap of water heater.
