Fried Green Tomato Chips & blackened Gulf Shrimp was next with a nice remoulade.. great flavor. For my main course, I ordered a Crispy Chicken Blt. WOW! Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Tenders, Applewood Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Mayhaw Pepper Jelly, Cilantro-Lime Mayo, Sourdough Toast..... I rarely can't finish my meal, but the chicken was a very generous portion, great bacon..... I only ate half. The jelly and mayo added to the flavor. Kind of a honey flavor. Overall, the food and service was terrific. One note, the first floor washroom toilet was leaking and I didn't see the water on the floor until it was almost too late! My sister and I shared the pasta and the shareable app that has all 4 main dishes of NoLa. My favorite was the Gumbo, so good and different from the other places i tried it. My wife chose this establishment, not a far walk from Royal Sonesta hotel. Upon my Yelp check-in got coupon for free appetizer w order of entree which was honored by the staff. We chose blue crab claws pictured below. My entree was shrimp Po Boy, and it was heartily stacked w shrimp on fresh bread. The potato salad was mayonnaise based generic tasting. One thing I noticed in my short time in New Orleans, all the restaurants take a long time for food to come out after ordering. Came for happy hour and the bar was full.. we had about 45 minutes left and the manager said he would take our name down and get us in..however nobody would leave... ha ha..so about 15 minutes left he sat us at a table near the bar and honored the happy hour..I thought that was magnificent gesture. We ordered the Bavarian pretzels with Abita beer cheese..this was amazing! Best beer cheese I think I have ever had and the pretzels were equally delicious. We started with Moscow mules for 5 dollars and right before the cutoff got in the 3 dollar domestic beer order. Our waitress was outstanding. This place was fantastic for a few drinks before our show at the Fillmore! We arrived for happy after a little after 2 and stayed until 5 having cocktails and a few of the appetizers that this establishment offers. Our server Gabe or Chad (I forget sorry!) was extremely upbeat and kind. He made the experience fun and I love servers that are personable and positive. The sliders we ordered were delicious and deposit it being one slider per order, it was a whole burger on a little slider bread bun with a good layer of red pepper and provolone cheese that was the bomb. The drinks were just as awesome. I tried a few of the Hemingway Daquiris (which wasn't much of a daiquiri at all to me delight) and the blackberry margarita. The margarita tasted super fresh and I enjoyed the presentations of both drinks. I would HIGHLY recommend this spot and would love to return on my next trip to NoLa! read more

I loved this place for lunch! The view on the deck was fabulous! Music was playing, the sun was shining, the wind was BLOWING but all was good!!! The only thing that could have been improved was my server, poor Chase seemed to be in the weeds a little bit and the restaurant was not very busy so that was disconcerting BUT while I was waiting for my table upstairs, I had a drink at the bar and that service was stellar and super quick so that was good! My poboy was yummy but the realm winner of the meal was the warm potato salad - it was so smooth and yummy - I am glad I got it. Popped in here for a quick dinner meal before our walking ghost tour. We were able to be accommodated immediately at hightop seating near the bar. Score! We ordered some refreshing drinks and put in our food order as well....a salad and their Taste of New Orleans sampler. The gulf shrimp Caesar salad was large and very hearty, easily shareable by two. The Taste of New Orleans sampler was pretty tasty...crawfish etouffee, creole jambalaya, duck andouille with black-eyed pea gumbo and red beans & rice. Each portion came in a small square dish, topped with rice and served with sliced toast making it fun to mix-n-match samples and dip the bread as you went along. When I'm in New Orleans, a Sidecar and a French 75 are necessary. I already had a Sidecar, so French 75 was still on the list. Curio has been on my radar. I've heard so many wonderful things about their food & craft cocktails. I passed by it on my way back from running an errand. I had a busy day but decided to pop in for a quick libation. I'm so glad I did! Kristen, the bartender, greeted me with the warmest welcome! In addition to a great personality, she has beautiful eyes and a lovely smile. The creative cocktails sounded intriguing, but my heart was set on a French 75. She suggested I try it with McQueen and the Violet Fog Gin. It was lovely. The floral botanicals, which include hibiscus, complimented the champagne nicely. I sipped my cocktail while having a lively conversation with Kristen and the gentleman next to me, whom I ran into at another event later that day. Thanks to Kristen, Curio will be my first stop next time I return to the Quarter. This place was incredible!! It's hard to find bad food in New Orleans.. and this place is a great example. Went with a couple of my girlfriends and we got sat right away. Loved that the doors were opened up to the outside so we got a nice breeze while we enjoyed our drinks. I ordered the Espresso Martini, which is made with cold brew! I would have definitely preferred espresso, but it was still not bad! To eat, we all split the Brussel Sprouts, the Crispy Chicken Salad, and the Fried Fish Platter. All of it was so so good.. it is hard to pick a favorite!! The flavors in everything to the perfectly fried chicken goodness in the salad, to the sauce that came with the addicting brussel sprouts... I had a great experience at Curio while in NOLA for a short trip. We had an excellent server who was very endearing and gave us good tips. We dined inside on the upstairs level. The restaurant has classic new Orleans vibes with all of the typical Cajun dishes. I went with the shrimp po boy with fries and added a side of hush puppies. The table near us was so impressed that they ordered the same after it came out. I committed the ultimate yelper sin and devoured the food before I took a photo. Nothing was going to get between me and that sandwich, not even a photo. Try the hush puppies as an extra side. You won't regret it. read more

What a treat this place was! We stumbled upon it while walking around NOLA. It was in a really convenient, easy to walk to area. The inside was small, but nice. The service was great! My favorite thing about this restaurant is that it offers a chance to taste all of New Orleans' most famous dishes in one sampler plate: étouffée, red beans and rice, gumbo, and jambalaya. The crabcakes on the eggs pontchartrain were unbelievably salty, holladaise was split... breakfast potatoes were steak fries in actuality... it was a letdown. The host and server were pleasant, the menus handed to us were dirty/grease stained, but table and seating clean. The place is cold even with the doors wide open so I had to go fetch a sweater. Not worth venturing in the quarter for which is such a shame. If you're needing a brunch spot in the quarter that's open before 10 am that will take walk ins, it's an option... the place was empty before us and I can't see myself going out of my way for it ever again. read more

Of all the cities I've visited, I think New Orleans must have the highest percentage of truly great restaurants. This is one of them. I had never even heard of Curio before, but my wife and I were wandering through the French Quarter and decided to stop in. We shared a bowl of roast duck and andouille gumbo and also a bowl of French onion soup. That is the best gumbo I've had in quite a few years, and the French onion soup was like something you might get in Paris. It was amazing! Also, the drinks here are excellent. Went here on a Saturday around 11:00 AM and will not go back. The host informed us that there was a 45 minute wait for a table so we sat at the bar. Behind us were 8 empty tables that were never fully occupied the entire time we were there. We endured the backless barstools. We waited quite a while for our food to arrive. Quite frankly, the food was AWFUL! The eggs were adorned with paprika which gave the egg whites a strange taste. The bacon also had a peculiar texture and taste. The biscuits were crumbly with little flavor. The grits looked like mushed rice and we even had to ask the bartender to identify what it was. It definitely didn't look or taste like the southern grits we're used to. I had potatoes and they were basically seasoned steak fries an odd accompaniment to eggs and bacon. We barely ate anything on our plates. Bill was around $40. We paid it and vowed not to return to this hole in the wall, fake restaurant. The one star was earned by the bartender who was friendly and kept our water glasses filled. Keep walking by this place not unless you're drunk and taste doesn't matter! read more

Thought this place looked great based on reviews, stars and menu. We were certainly mistaken, they told me they did not have a table inside for our reservation, so they put us on the balcony in an area that had no lights. We had to flagged down someone to get our drink order and take our food order. We ordered alligator bites, they forgot to bring them out, and then showed up on the bill. They forgot a few drinks and messed up our food order. Service was very slow. It was not worth 150$, I would not come here, service is bad, food is mediocre, ambience was terrible. It's unfortunate that they gave away our table inside when I had made a reservation about two weeks in advance, server was poor and did not know how to wait table or remember orders, we had a small party of 4 too. We were seated promptly on a Saturday afternoon and Gustavo took care of us with never an empty drink. My wife ordered the Crawfish Cavatappi Pasta (Gus recommendation) and I took in a classic Shrimp Po'boy sandwich. (Get the extra mayo and hot sauce). The pasta I cannot explain. It was so good and creamy with chunks of crawfish. The po'boy was stuffed with shrimp which was perfectly crispy and delectable. We missed out on the crab cakes so perhaps we will come back again. I am soe ding a day in the French Quarter, so I would be nuts not to go out and try some creole food! Walking around, I stumbled across Curio... A small, cute bar/restaurant. I was immediately greeted at the door by 3 girls to seat me. After being seated it did take about 5 minutes for anyone to come by and take my drink order, and there was o ly a few other customers in the establishment. Once the server came by, she was very polite and friendly. I decided on the shrimp jambalaya. You can upgrade to fried or blackened chicken but I stuck with shrimp. The food came out within 3 minutes! The presentation was nice. The rice and sausage had a nice flavor that wasn't too o et powering. The shrimp was season Ed nicely but tightly tough and overcooked. The seasoning were delicious but not dumped on so hot or thick that you couldn't taste the dish, it was great! The rice was soft, not mushy, even though it sits in a delicious jambalaya sauce. Overall, the food was delicious! The only knock is the price for the quantity and the duration I sat waiting for my order to be taken. The food made up for that though! I was really excited to take my family here for two birthday celebrations after having a great experience last year. Unfortunately, this dinner was a disappointment for the most part. Big praise to the chef, because the food remained absolutely delicious. The portions are awesome and the flavors are incredible. The bad news is the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. There was urine on the ground, no hand soap, or paper towels. I had to ask the bar tender for some hand soap and she gave me a hand soap pump bottle from behind the bar that had less than an inch of soap. We told our server about the bathroom, and he said, "I know" and blamed it on "them" who don't fix the problem when he tells them about it. By the time we left, the soap was gone and no employee noticed. Our service was also bad. He rarely came to the table and we had to ask several times for water refills. He also stood at the bar joking around with his coworkers while we waited. By the time we finally got the food, it was cold. We wish he would have picked it up in a timely matter. We had to send an order back. After spending $400 dollars for a four person dinner, it's just disappointing to get less than service and have to put your dress under your chin so that it doesn't touch the floor. There are so many great choices in New Orleans, and we would love for you all to be one of them. read more

I sat at the bar so the service I received was fine. It was very clean. The redfish was pretty good, just a bit overcooked and salty but I enjoyed the light "crisp" that was on it. Based on the food, I recommend trying this place out. Even though the was on server for 7 tables, with parties up to 6-8, food came out reasonably fast. We waited a while we hen we first sat, but time between appetizer and entree allowed us to digest. I commend the waitress for doing a great job and even noticed when the wrong dish was brought out to our table and immediately corrected the issue. See my pics.
