Over 10 years ago, I gave the curry up now food truck 5 stars. But, 10 years is a long time, yes? And despite having visited this location on Valencia Street several times, I never wrote a review for it. So this review is for the restaurant, NOT their food truck, and it is long overdue. The restaurant itself is minimal, decorated in vibrant colors. It's a small food-hall kind of vibe. I never had any issues with my in-person visits. But nowadays I'm rarely in the mission, so we order delivery. Our most recent delivery... The chicken kathi roll: In the description on the menu, it says "egg washed paratha, onions, cilantro chutney," & fryums are served on the side, along with chutney. It does not say green peppers. So I was surprised that there were sizable chunks of green peppers (see pic). And the "egg washed" paratha has a straight up layer of actual eggs, rolled up inside/with the paratha, as opposed to being simply washed (basted) onto the surface of the bread before cooking. The lamb rogan Josh burrito: The lamb was excellent as usual. Quality meat always stands out. The amount of lamb is generous, both in size & in quantity. Same is true for the burrito itself. This can sate the appetite of one very hungry husband easily. While many of the traditional Indian flavor profiles are there, they haven't been consistently pronounced. We've had the lamb burrito in the past, & it was really spicy. So spicy, in fact, that it overpowered everything else. This latest order wasn't as spicy, which is preferable. The menu is gimmicky & Americanized. That's ok. They've succeeded in making Indian food more fun, more convenient, & less intimidating for the masses. Props for that. I think I just ordered the wrong thing. I ordered the Tandoori crispy chicken sandwich and it was all kinds of wrong with really limp and soggy fries. The chicken was stringy and the grease was soaked up by the bun. I was really hungry and needed to be somewhere so I finished the sandwich but left most of the fries. The service was very friendly and they even offer free hot chai tea. The restaurant is very spacious with a modern look and very clean. The bathroom was spotless. They have some fusion-y options like fries and burritos, but they also have different thali and pani puri and pav bhaji, which I do think is hard to find sometimes.
