The only reason i came back to this restaurant after my bad experience 3 years ago was because friends wanted to go for lunch here. Like my last experience, this place failed once again. My quiche arrived cold and lacking the potatoes it was supposed to come with. This same quiche reappeared barely warm and with three little, hard, dry, inedible, cooked-to-death potatoes. The quiche was tasteless and the so called salad was dressed with a barely detectable vinaigrette (?) dressing. I think there were about 5 leaves to the salad. Nothing else. Oh, and 2 wedges of watermelon. Next to a very good bloody mary, the watermelon was the best part of the whole meal. This restaurant was great find. We had just been working up an appetite while walking Bourne main street. And came accross this gem. It looked a little high end and without knowing me and my wife walked in. Fast attentive service ok wine list and good food. I had the roasted quail was very tender, juicy, and flavorful. My only complaint was the wine they had a lot of mediocre wines on their list, but the pirces were to high... specially for what they are. Came here again for lunch and it was great. My mom and I went for brunch on Sunday to celebrate our birthdays! The food was amazing; we both had the crab cake eggs Benedict, the crab cakes were delicious. Then we had the key lime pie and creme brûlée with espresso for dessert. I have definitely had better. A large group, 10, of us were meeting here before a friends high school graduation. Half of us showed up first, and then about 10 minutes later the other half. This is important later on in the review... Location is nice, right in the heart of downtown Boerne, street parking, easy access. You walk in and only see the bar area, the hostess stand if a good walking distance from the door, made our way to the stand, and were seated immediately. We had made reservations. From the front door, the restaurant looks tiny, but once you turn the corner to the dining area, it makes more sense. Our waitress started off by telling us what the specials were for this Friday night. My husband and I decided to order the pork chop to share. They only serve wine and beer, no liquor and no BYOB. You do get one order of complimentary sundried tomato bread and olive oil. Menu states that if you want more, there is an extra charge. So, she brought out enough for half of us, as we arrived first. When the second half of out party showed up, there was no more bread brought out, which we were expecting. So we passed out few pieces that were left down to share. We obviously did not want to pay the extra charge for ordering more, and assumed there would be more brought out as the rest of the party joined us, we were mistaken. Per the waitresses recommendation, we got the roasted bell pepper mac and cheese over the buttermilk whipped potatoes, garlic fries and an extra tomato provencal. The tomato provecal was so good. I could eat like 10 of them and be completely satifisfied. It was half a tomato stuffed and baked with fresh mozzerella. The fries were really tasty too. The bell pepper mac and cheese was nothing to write home about. It was not nearly as amazing as the waitress made it out to be, and we were a little disappointed that we had decided on this side. The pork chop was very tough. Others at our table had ordered steaks and other entrees. I did taste ahi tuna nacho, which was very delightful, amazing actually. We heard the steaks were extremely tough. If I ever have to come back, I will be getting the tuna nachos. But I don't plan on coming back. After reading something along the lines of "made daily lemonade" on the menu, I expected freshly squeezed. It tasted like powder. The kind people fill an orange water cooler with. I asked the waiter how they made it and he assured me they add water to Minute Maid concentrate... So much for a decent meal in a well designed "fancy" restaurant. I got a buffalo burger and my girl got the chicken sandwich. Bun could have been toasted as it was cold. The fries were good and her thin waffle fries were decent. A bit on the burnt side. Super cool place I can't wait to go back. Very neat location in old building in old downtown - nice but not pretentious. Food was great and service was fantastic. We went here for dinner in way to Fredericksburg for my wife's bday. I had the scallops and a salad - because now and the I eat like that - and my wife had tenderloin beef strip or nuggets or something. We had a chocolate lava cake type thing for desert. The servings here are generous and sides are awesome so it was a too much food - but all delicious. It is not cheap but is worth the money. read more

The place is warm and inviting. Noise level is a bit high for the ambiance. Menu is varied and certain to please most palates. The wine list is very good. So if you're stuck eating here get that. We ordered the wedge salad. (Thinking it would be like wedge salads at a normal steak or high end restaurant). It had no blue cheese and no flavor. It was basically a chunk of low quality romain with RANCH. Not even salt or pepper. We sent it back and they returned with a spinach salad that had a thick warm bacon/meat concoction of some sort. It was heavy & weird. I felt like I was eating a salad with chopped bbq on it. Next we ordered a ribeye. The nicest steak on the menu. I get ribeyes are fatty, but the amount we cut off the steak was unreal. What was left was a unseasoned piece of low quality meat. (We ordered it medium - it was over cooked for sure) The Mac & cheese WOULD have been killer had they added salt. The twice baked potatoes were good- kinda hard to mess up. I was really disappointed with our last visit. The mahi mahi fish that I had was extremely dry and there was a serious lack of sauce on the plate. The lobster ravioli wasn't good either as the dough was WAY too thick. I can't imagine the chef was tasting any from that batch because instead of light and pillowy it was thick and dense. My family and I attempted to eat here multiple times in the past, but were unable to due to their hours. Anyways, the service was friendly and attentive. Before the entree, we were offered warm bread with oil and herbs for dipping, which was good enough to leave me wanting more. I ordered the panini of the day, which was a generous-sized chicken panini, served hot with multiple types of cheeses and fillings. On the side were house-made chips, which were EXCELLENT. Food was wonderful. I had Quiche and my husband had portabello mushroom pasta. Both were excellent. I would have liked some bread but was told they don't have bread on Sundays. I'm glad a previous review warned us that the hostess desk was on the other side of the bar. It was WAY back there and you can't see the dining room when you walk in. The dining area is lovely. I am not familiar with the area so I had my friend that I was meeting suggest a lunch place to go. I was very fortunate because I found parking right away, as this area is hard to part sometimes because there is mostly street parking. I was first and she arrived shortly after me for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. She had the tomato soup and I had the chicken pot pie, which is the Wednesday special. It was so good. I have never tasted chicken pot pie like this before. The service was very good also and we had a good time. Prices are great also. This is a must see! read more

We basically stumbled upon Cypress Grille on a little family weekend in Boerne. Everything we had for lunch was excellent, from the grilled shrimp ceviche to the "upside down" key lime pie. Nice beers on tap, and a good little wine list. Ask for Edward, a great waiter who took excellent care of us. Even thought to bring a high chair for Abby's stuffed animal friends. We all left very satisfied. Staying at the Ye Kendall Inn. The Limestone Grill here is supposed to be very good. We'll know more later. The hotel is really cool. read more

The atmosphere of this place screams, "Pricey!" but the food was absolutely great. We had the foie gras and nachos appetizers, and spinach salad and mahi mahi for entrees. The portions for all the dishes were just right and we left full but without being total gluttons. The downside of this place was the service... I won't name our server but she seemed either overwhelmed or not sure of what she was doing. There was no method to her madness and she forget some pretty basic stuff for the restaurant. It all started when we were sat. Fortunately the hostess was able to sit us quickly and gave us our server's name, but then we waited for about 10 minutes for someone - ANYONE - to greet us at the table. I was about to get up and leave and then our server came and said the hostess never told her she had a table. We already had our drinks and appetizer in mind so gave her our order right away. The drinks came to us quick, as did the appetizers in a reasonable amount of time. We were able to provide our entree orders when she came with the drinks, so all seemed okay from there. But then that was probably some of the last we saw of her. We saw that she was running around to other tables in the restaurant but rarely checked back with us. We eventually noticed she completely forgot to give us bread like all the other customers received, so we were able to ask for that when we finally got a hold of her for the check. She spilled some of our drinks too, but it was no big deal. She just seemed really frazzled, which brought her service quality down. I think a part of the problem was where servers were tending to customers. Rather than take "zones", they were all all over the place. That's a management issue and I think could be easily resolved to make it easier on the servers to track and serve their customers in a timely manner instead of scrambling everywhere. Decided to try this place for my birthday. I was completely saddened by the quality and taste of our dishes. I ordered the chicken sandwich which came out literally on burnt toast. I asked for them to please re-toast not so cooked, and it came out much later and was toasted ok. The flavor was very bland. My husband ordered the steak and fries, with the meat cooked at medium temperature. They brought out his steak medium-rare. He tried to eat his dish because we felt bad that I already sent my meal back to redo. He had to end up sending his back also because it was just too bloody. They took his same meat and burned it to a crisp to the point to where he couldn't even eat it. The key lime pie was the only thing good about our experience that cost almost $90.00 for lunch. I could not finish my stellar, wood-fired ribeye steak. It was cooked perfectly medium rare and the flavor was outstanding. I asked for a special side of sautéed spinach and our server gladly obliged. The little cheddar-chive potato was a touch dry but still tasty. Overall an amazing dinner! My dearest opted for the special - Nova Scotia salmon stuffed with spinach and crab, served with asparagus and farro. I tried a bite and it was truly wonderful. This restaurant is consistent! The Humus and olive hors d'oeuvres are great. Fresh summer peppers, carrots, cherry tomatoes, seeds, cheese olives and grilled bread, all with fresh hummus -Yum! Cypress has nicely prepared green salads, too. I enjoyed a fantastic salad with dehydrated pears, beets and champagne vinaigrette. My husband had the grilled tuna with farro and quinoa, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The crispy eggplant is a solid option for vegetarians. Many restaurants can not make great espresso.
