Cypress has nicely prepared green salads, too. I enjoyed a fantastic salad with dehydrated pears, beets and champagne vinaigrette. My husband had the grilled tuna with farro and quinoa, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The crispy eggplant is a solid option for vegetarians. Many restaurants can not make great espresso. Cypress Grille delivered a quaint and romantic atmosphere for a New Year's Eve dinner. The service Courtney provided was delightful. All the staff seemed to be a friendly team player and made our first time experience a great one. I recommend everything we ordered! The crispy crab cakes for appetizers were delicious. I almost asked for the recipe.. Let's normalize this soon! The grilled lamb chops were tasteful and cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese were a great compliment to the pork chops. Alcoholic beverages are limited to wine and beer only. I'm so glad they are able to operate during COVID. I wish the tables were more distanced during these times. I stopped in here today for lunch since my client had me way out in "10-buck-2" and the sign said "Fine Dining"... This place was more than fine...it was FANTASTIC!! I ordered the prime rib with came with a Parmesan pasta with artichoke and a green salad...for only $13! the portion size was perfect the food was tasty and the owner/chef Paul Thompson even came out to say hello. This was such a surprise to find in Boerne. We had some friends that live in down town San Antonio invite us there and we thought that was interesting they drove that far for this place. The food and atmosphere was GREAT! The restaurant is a little hidden in the back of the wine bar but they will direct you there. I had the fish special and the beat salad. I was astonished at the perfection of the food. I do not remember any food being left on anyone's plates. It was perfectly cooked, portioned, and priced. Absolutely excellent dining experience! The decor is classy-casual. There was a nice crowd, but not crowded. It was quiet - perfect for conversation! Service was good - Austin was our servers name, and he did a fine job. The food-- superb! I had the 7oz sirloin with the twice baked potato and sautéed veggies. I was staying in Boerne for the night on business and after looking at many yelp reviews, I decided to dive into Cypress Grille. I loved the atmosphere that they provide and the service was very friendly. I started with a glass of wine that ranges from $8 - $11 for a cab. Most of their wine sales are by the bottle based on what I saw. I then had the salad of the day that featured an avocado dressing over fried goat cheese...Wow! For the meal I went with the Mahi Mahi which was also very well cooked and the spinach underneath melted in my mouth. Overall I would go back to this place in a heartbeat. My only complaint is that is was listed as a $$ on yelp when it should be a $$$. For a glass of wine, salad and meal, my total came to $65. read more

Went to the Cypress Grille last night (one of my favorite Boerne restaurants) for Hill Country Montessori School night. As always the food was fantastic. The duck lettuce wraps are a family favorite, and we never fail to clean the plate. There was a special on a barbeque salmon sushi roll, felling adventurous we went for it, so so so so glad we did. I'm not a huge fan of the barbeque/fish/shrimp movement but I'm coming around. One thing I love about this restaurant is the downright strange dishes. They put ingredients together that no one would have thought of and it comes out delicious. The quail and chorizo comes to mind. Oh gosh and the lobster brie portobello lasagna, weird right?? The quail is my favorite entree. We had to leave early and skip dessert (best key lime pie in south texas, in my opinion) which was a bummer. The only con about this restaurant I can think of is that, like most restaurants, the lunch and dinner menus are different, so that I never get to have their yogurt flatbread pizza at night. I have been known to make two trips in one day:) The restaurant is family friendly, but it's a place I prefer to have adult time at, either sitting at the bar or at a candle lit table when my husband isn't working. I had heard good things about this venue from relatives that live there. So, while I was visiting, I took my daughter's family out for a nice dinner and was sadly dissapointed. Two of us had the stuffed Flank Steak which was tough and lacking in flavor. Both of us were disappointed. My grandson ordered the childs steak and said he's had much better. My daughter had the scallops for a 2nd time and was very happy. I probably should have sent my flank back, but ate it and told the server it was tough. Nothing was offered to soothe my tired jaw. Now the desserts were very good. Grandson had a root beer float and loved it. I had the warm chocolate cake which was delicious, and daughter had the keylime dessert. Recently visited Boerne and was excited about going to Cypress Grille for dinner. There were three of us and since we were early, got seated immediately. The place filled up fast, so I thought it must be a great pick. The service was our first disappointment. The waitress was unfamiliar with the menu and was very rude when a few questions about ingredients were asked. As we waited for our selections, she was no where to be seen to fill water or wine! The dinner was beautifully presented. However the entrees were BLAH! The pasta was hard, yes hard... not al dente! The lobster filling of the ravioli was mostly mayonnaise. The 4-hr roasted chicken that I expected to be "fall off the bone" delicious was very salty and tough. The wonderfully described lasagne was just ok. For the price, these entrees should have been so much better! We will definitely not go there again. read more

Came here on business to visit a client. This place was awesome. It was very nicely decorated and laid out on the inside - somewhat upscale in appearance. They have a special everyday and I had the pot pie (the Thursday Special). This pot pie was so good - I wished there were more. It had a nice flaky pastry piece - delish! We had such high expectations but what a mess. We were seated on the only table between the two bathrooms - who places a table here? The ceviche was as far from a ceviche as you can get - one half avocado, a bunch of tortilla strips with a grilled shrimp, leafy greens and citrus-flavored gunge. The special was a shrimp wedge salad that would look good at a friend's house but not at a CIA-trained restaurant. We ordered two and the cuts on everything were totally different. Although we have been here on weekdays many times, this was our first time for Saturday lunch. The hostess seated us immediately but warned that several large tables had just arrived, so it might be a little while before we saw a waiter. However, Cooper came over very quickly. He was unfailingly attentive despite being swamped. The service deserves 5 stars. The food is always good, although my flat bread pizza was a little bland this time. My husband's chicken sandwich was delicious, as were the waffle-cut chips on the side. We had a trio of house-made ice creams for dessert. The eggnog pecan was outstanding, but the chocolate cardamom and ginger macadamia were just average, which made me very sad as I adore cardamom, and we could barely taste it. what to say. The most amazing meals we've had in a long time. We went to Boerne on a whim and we'd been trying to come here to eat for a while. Living in San Antonio makes it difficult to come at the right time every time. But we lucked out and wow!! The food is THE BEST! Had the Quail & the pork chop. Blown away. Tasty, delicious, good portions. The atmosphere was great. Being a Wednesday it wasn't packed. The waitress was so sweet and was perfect. She brought us drinks and kept up with us. We will definitely come back again. The food is priced right. Next time we plan on staying and enjoying dessert. But I say 5 Star restaurant all the way. So glad we decided to eat here. Very disappointing. My boyfriend and I came with some friends who had been here before, for me it was my first time as I only recently moved to the Boerne area. We arrived 10/15 minutes later than a couple of our friends and had to wait 25 minutes before our server came back to the table to take our (and our friends who arrived about two minutes after us) drink order. Fine, I've dealt with worse, figured she had other tables to tend to. Get our drinks, then we all ordered our food. I ordered a burger, pretty simple. It took an hour to receive my food and I was the last one to get my order whereas others had ordered Mahi Mahi, chicken pasta, etc and gotten their plates a good 15 minutes before mine came out. I was starving and started eating the burger and was extremely disappointed with the quality of the burger. To put it into perspective - I'd rather go to sauced and get their cowboy burger. The meat actually has flavor, the bun is great, and I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes to receive my food whether it be on a slow Monday or a busy saturday. You'd think if that's the service I get from a casual eatery I'd get a similar if not better experience here. Nope. The burger was mediocre, definitely not worth anywhere near $19, the fries were salted to the point of no return which is sad because the garlic flavor was nice, our server rarely came to check on us and get us refills. During the time we were waiting for our food (aka an HOUR as previously stated) she didn't stop by once. Thankfully we had good company, otherwise the night would've been awful. This is a lovely restaurant once you find it. I'm driving around a small town trying to find somewhere to eat with my elderly mother. It's a dark and unfamiliar town. Mom spotted someone in the window and that's the only way we knew the place was even there. The fact that there's a big restaurant behind the bar was a total surprise. Light the place up people! And an ad placed at the local hotel would help immensely! My Mom ordered the prime rib special, which only comes in 12 or 16 ounce servings. The 12 ounce was extremely thick, she had a hard time cutting and eating it. We agreed Saltgrass prime rib is a lot better at half the price! I ordered the 7 ounce filet which was ok, if pricey at $40. My sides were mushrooms and onions, unseasoned so I asked for and received Worcestershire sauce. Also had a twice baked cheddar potato which was extremely bland and Firm/crusty on the top - how long had this been sitting around? While my husband did not care for the Bleu cheese, I loved it! He got the grilled Mahi mahi. The lobster ravioli were slightly undercooked but the flavor of the dish was amazing. The mahi was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I got the pecan smoked quail. It was delicious and the stuffing had a kick to it. I knew this was going to be a fancier place in Boerne, but the decor wasn't what I expected at all. It had a rustic feel to it with the wooden floors and mountain cabin feel when you first walk in. We were greeted promptly as we sat at the bar to wait for the rest of our party. The three other people in my party ordered salads to start with, and all were served with a separate pouring dish of dressing. The salads looked fresh and appetizing. The starter bread is pretty good, and I'm not sure what it is, but they kind of toast it? It has a good flavor and texture. I probably should've went with the prime rib special, but I just wasn't hungry enough to want it. Everyone else in my party ordered it, and it did look really good. It appeared to be thicker than most prime ribs I would expect, but it looked really good with the vegetable sides and mashed potatoes topped with fried onion strings. I ordered the grilled mahi mahi which was served over two large pieces of lobster ravioli. The mahi mahi wasn't really too memorable for me, and the lobster ravioli was really good until it just got too salty after a couple of bites. The dish was served in some type of sauce, and I really thought it was just all too salty towards the end of the meal. I probably should go back and try other things, but for now this is my two cents with what I got! Service was pretty good.
