Another great visit at DL Mack's . Left a happy hour in Plano and came south for a Chicago style pie. Absolutely love them. Service is always top notch. We got there late for happy hour so we had to sit on the patio, which was a bit hot but still enjoyable. They may want to look at building shades and misters for their outside area. I mean, summer in Dallas... come on.

The Happy Hour is a great deal! Pizzas are $19 and drinks are $10. The Espresso & Blue cheese martini were both really good. The restaurant feels very cozy and old school.

Beautiful restaurant me and my wife enjoyed ourselves. The server was nice answered all the questions we had! The food: Chicken meatballs: Excellent flavor and really a good bite. Might've been the best thing we had! Caesar salad: We are Ceaser salad people! It was great one of the better one out there. T Chicken Tenders: They were pretty Good didn't expect to like them that much. My only complaint is they got real soggy when you got to the mid/bottom they were soggy! The honey mustard dipping sauce was elite. Chicken Parm: It was a pretty dish but it was cooked a little too long some pieces tasted burnt and were a little too hard. I would give it another try one day to see if this was the truth. The Chicago Special Pizza: It was just ok I wanted to like it way more. It Just lacked flavor it didn't taste like much at all. It had a nice crunch and it was cooked real well but it wasn't the best.

I originally was a fan of Houston's. Houston's closed but is owned by Hillstone (also on Preston, but closer to Northwest Highway). Those geniuses stopped selling chicken tenders, so I gave this place a try. Before I begin, I want to clear up some confusion about this place. If you intend to eat at the GREEN building location near SMU, you want to eat at the Hillcrest location. If you want to eat at the Preston location (in the strip mall parking lot with Central Market), go to this location on Preston. I say that because some genius posted the wrong building photos on each address location. The photos of the green building are NOT for the Preston location! Having said that.... The location is on the corner of Preston & Royal... in the same parking lot with Central Market. Parking was great because it's in a strip mall parking lot. So there was adequate parking. Great location, great vibe on the inside. We were able to walk in and get a table in 30 minutes. We waited at the bar and tried an appetizer. Then got seated when our table became open. As I said, we ordered an appetizer. Try the smoked salmon! That with the sauce is AMAZING! I wasn't too crazy about the pita bread pairing. They could have used a crispier bread to contrast it. But it's worth getting. My wife ordered a grilled chicken Cesar salad. She loved it. The dressing was more like a vinaigrette. I ordered the chicken tenders with honey mustard and mashed potatoes. All great choices. The mashed potatoes had carrot bits in them (I'm not a carrot guy), but the mashed potatoes tasted great. So I didn't mind the carrots. We tried the pizza. We ordered a Chicago pizza and added pepperoni and sausage. That with the hot honey was a smash hit. To be honest, the pizza wasn't so great the next day. If you're a fan of Houston's chicken tenders or smoked salmon, you'll love this place. I won't say that DL Mack's copied it. They just had the sense to keep it on the menu... and by coincidence, it tastes just as good- if not better. Great food. Great service. Great price. I highly recommend. Consider making reservations "just in case".

Fantastic spot for happy hour and hearty apps! Ambiance & Service: Old Hollywood vibes inside. Loved that we could make a happy hour reservation. Our server was super friendly and attentive! Food & Drink: - Lemon Drop Martini: Tart, refreshing, and not too sweet--perfect happy hour sip. - Spinach & Artichoke Dip: Creamy, savory, and elevated with salsa and sour cream. Thin, crispy chips were a hit! - Fries: Extra thin and crispy--best when hot. - Cheese Pizza: Thin, crunchy crust with just the right amount of sauce. TL;DR: Great service, cool atmosphere, and delicious happy hour bites--especially the spinach dip and lemon drop martini!

Service was good and very quick! Knowledgeable server. I do wish the chicken was a little more bite sized on my the pizza but it was still delicious. Great portions and prices. The spinach dip was bland though . Get the lemon drop for sure

Not only was all the food delicious, but our server had a happiness that was infectious. We came 15 minutes before our reservation, and we were still seated instantly. I liked the vibes inside a lot!

So freaking delicious, would go back again 100%. Service was great, drinks were good too.

The restaurant was probably 75% full and it was just 2 of us, so easy peasy. Amber(I really hope that's right) was a great waitresses. She greeted us and asked if we wanted anything besides the waters that had already been given. She then gave us a few minutes to look over the menu... Side bar: I guess I'm just old, but I want a real menu, not a QR code to scan. We looked over the menu and decided on 2 small pizza to split. Fourmaggio, which almost always my go to if available at the pizza place, and the Potato and Pancetta. Both pizzas were great, but the Potato and Pancetta was the winner for us! Really cool little spot that seems like a hipster sports bar. We don't live close, but will probably go in the future if we're in the area.

(just a fun fact) They seem pretty proud of that fact too, considering there's now a giant cowboy hat sculpture, "The Big Hat," right across the street. It's impossible to miss. Anyway, we weren't there for hats. We were there for pizza. First, a public service announcement. Figure out what you want before you walk in because the menu is only available through a QR code, and it is awful. You scroll. Then you scroll some more. Then somehow you're still scrolling. It feels less like ordering dinner and more like reading the terms and conditions for a mortgage. The two of us ordered a large pepperoni pizza, which turned out to be ambitious. We ate leftovers for days. Next time I'd definitely order the smaller size. My only real complaint about the pizza itself was the pepperoni. There was just TOO MUCH of it. Sure, I could have asked for "light pepperoni", but then I'd be paying full price for less topping, and that just goes against my personal philosophy. I'd love to see a "light pepperoni" option priced accordingly. ALSO not it is the good and greasy cupping pepperoni, kinda spicy. The pizza was also a little unevenly prepared. About half had a thicker crust while the other half was noticeably thinner. I definitely preferred the thinner side. Service was perfectly fine, the bathrooms were clean and nice, and the pizza was good overall. Just be prepared for the QR code marathon before you get to enjoy it.

Our standard order is a large three topping with pepperoni, real Italian sausage and onions. You've got to try onions as that touch of sweet helps with all the savory flavors. We always include a side salad with their homemade blue cheese dressing for a small charge $2.55! You've can also purchase their homemade salad dressings by the pint or quart. The pizza takes a minute to get made so the salad calms our appetite. I swear it's cheaper to get a glass of their house wine than to get a glass of tea so don't hesitate to order. This place is a definite bargain on many items. Now the pizza is just spectacular. The Italian sausage is the real thing that has been sliced from the links not the sausage "turds" you get with fast food pizza. The crust is perfectly yeasty and the thickness on the medium side. They also serve on a rack at the table to keep the crust fresh. Since we order a large it is a knife and fork pizza with the heavy cheese and toppings. Another favorite dish is their lasagna. I've lost count how many times I've ordered at the restaurant and to go. It comes with a choice of salad or minestrone soup. The soup is homemade and simply the best warming dish - a hug in a bowl loaded with veggies. Service is always friendly. The murals of Italian scenes and the wine bottles hanging from the ceiling add a fun touch. Just don't forget to try the pizza and you won't have regrets. We called ahead of time as Resy was glitching and were told that we could just walk in and likely wouldn't wait long. Arrived the host was helping someone with a takeout order. We waited. And waited. She never even looked at us or said. "Hi...just give me a minute and I'll be right with you.." 2nd host came to the counter (more than 5 minutes passed as we watched them buzz around and still not say hello). She finally looked up and said, "2"? Then seated us almost silently. We waited another 10 mins for someone to welcome us, say hi, or bring water, then a waiter appeared with a rushed, "Are you ready to order?" Umm....how about drinks? Specials? Anything?? We wanted a beer and were told the taps were empty and the only bottled option was Shiner. Rough start all around. Honestly, we were tempted to leave. It was that uncomfortable. We didn't. For the food: 1. Chopped salad was good, though it's not chopped at all, just a tossed salad. 2. Gnocci was delicious 3. Pizza was very tasty but the crust was strangely soggy/chewy. Maybe that's the style, but I kind of expected a bit of a crunch to it. The flavor all around was great. Our waiter disappeared (I'm assuming his shift ended?) without warning or letting us know someone else would step in. If I had to sum it up, it was almost like we were invisible the whole time we were there. Service can make or break an experience--it broke it for us. I'd consider trying the Richardson location in the future, but I think it'll be a while.

Upon entering you're met with dim lights, deep burgundy leather seats and images of musicians painted in every corner. The restaurant is absolutely stunning! Our table wasn't quite ready so we were asked to wait at the bar for short while. We started the celebration early by ordering a few drinks and by the time they arrived, our table was ready. We were lead to a large half moon shaped booth nestled in the corner; which was large and plush. Plenty of room for us four and honestly at least two more people. On our table was a place card that said Happy Birthday to my partner which was a nice touch. Our waitress arrived and very pleasant and helpful. She asked if we had questions and gave us some highlights of the menu. We ordered another round along with Meatballs Troubadour, the Heavenly Sourdough and Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. The Heavenly Sourdough and Meatballs Troubadour were absolutely the stars of the show! The meatballs were flavorful and juicy. The marinara sauce paired wonderfully with the sourdough. For entrees, Dry-Aged Delmonico, Pomme Puree, Crispy Brussels, Honey Truffle Chicken and Whole Lobster Spaghetti. All the food was divine! To wrap it all up we of course ordered the 24 layer strawberry cake. The cake was bought out with a candle and 4 glasses of bubbly which was a very nice treat. Drake's met all my expectations and more. A huge thank you to the manager stopping by to make sure all was well throughout our meal.
