The happy hour is everyday, even on weekends! My table attendant, Joe, was spectacular!

We first tried D.L. Mack's a few years back and were very impressed when they first opened. Their food is mostly good (although small menu), and most of the servers we've gotten have been friendly. Some of them lack knowledge on allergen information, which, at this price point is disappointing. The atmosphere is top notch and feels unique. Where things turned south is their constant price hikes, patio closures, and insistence on shutting out the happy hour. For the uninitiated, they ONLY offer happy hour for the bar, patio, and few 2-person tables. We have walked in multiple times to find those areas packed while the rest of the restaurant sits empty. If you go for the happy hour and they are full, your choices are then left with paying full price or leaving - while the restaurant sits half empty! This is infuriating. We feel many of these decisions have been made without the customer in mind. Worthy of a note - don't go here if you have a party more than 4 people. They only have 2 tables in the entire restaurant that can hold more than 4. read more

I absolutely love DL Mack's - I've been to both locations and the service, food, and atmosphere never disappoints! They have a daily happy hour from 3-6, even weekends, in the bar area and on the patio. Their happy hour specials include martinis, wine and pizzas. Tonight we got drinks, the Bill Murray Special (pizza), the McCarthy salad, and a side of the spicy rigatoni. Pro tip: their website has a section of sweets and sides including some side sized portions of their menu (like the spicy rigatoni) - great when you don't know what to get and want to try a lot! read more

Discriminates against the elderly and infirm. I waited for a table with my mother far beyond the wait time we were given. My mother has Parkinson's and is 89. We were told it would be 30 minutes. We waited while everyone else got seated, and then at least three other parties who arrived after us were seated. Meanwhile, my poor 89 year old mother was left to stand and wait for 45 minutes until I got fed up. We finally left, which is what the man at the front clearly wanted us to do. read more

Great location with easy access not to mention easy parking! Clean restaurant with pleasant comfortable ambiance and comfortable booths for seating. Great menu and the food is very tasty, thanks to their chef. The pizza is phenomenal as well as their spicy rigatoni with sausage! My wife and I both had the redfish platter with kale salad, which was excellent! The staff are very friendly and attentive, and try to make your dining experience top-notch! They bend over backwards for us while we were there with our grandchildren. Also when our order for Christmas dinner with another local restaurantfailed materialise, they were able to quickly provide us with takeout in very short time to make our family dinner for 15. Casual Elegance. This is not a fine dining experience which is the only reason it doesn't have 5 stars, that's just how I do my grades/reviews but the ambiance and service was top level. The lighting was also perfect, moody enough to be romantic but not dark. The hostess was sweet and gracious, our server Sarah was charming and helpful and, manager Caitlin was attentive and hospitable. We had a drink at the stylish bar while we waited for our table and enjoyed 2 perfectly executed martinis. I did think, the spinach dip was severely overpriced but it was good. The little house salad was so delicious I'll be going back for that alone. In my opinion it was the star dish. I had the tenders and they were light crispy and perfectly seasoned. My husband had the Chicken club and thought it was excellent. He also really enjoyed their Anejo old Fashioned. I tried it and it was truly, a great drink. What a great Saturday lunch! We saw it as we drove by and decided to try. Great vibe inside with good food! We had pizza, salad, chicken tenders, fries....all were generous servings especially the pizza toppings. The pizzas were great! read more

This place has so much potential, I hate to only give it 3 stars, but a few "no-no's" in my book kept me from rating it higher. On the positive: The wait staff was very friendly, attentive and professional, equivalent to a higher end restaurant. A couple of the menu items our table ordered were very good: McCarthy salad-delicious, pizza-crispy cracker crust lived up to its name, Paloma-very tasty! Unfortunately, the "unforgivables" that caused me to give a low rating: #1. NO INDICATION OF ALMONDS IN THE SALAD. With so many people having food/nut allergies these days, that should not be left off and assumed to be "covered" by the disclaimer in small print at the bottom of the menu, especially because they were finely chopped and unnoticed by our person with a nut allergy until after several bites. Thankfully she was ok and did not need to use her epi pen! #2. No mention of the up-charge to get the Paloma on the rocks instead of frozen as it's listed. It's not about the $2; it's about the principal of making the customer aware that they'll be paying more than the price that is listed on the menu. #3. Poor acoustics: the table behind us was so loud and obnoxious (5 women who'd clearly been there for happy hour a while), we couldn't hear ourselves think! Our waiter noticed our uncomfortability with it (as well as customers from other tables turning to look at them) and didn't take the initiative to kindly ask them to be mindful of others that were there. While I realize it's a touchy subject, it's up to the waitstaff to make sure ALL customers are comfortable-not just the obnoxious boozers! I'd really like to go back and get the salad again (I'm not the one with the nut allergy), and hoping next time will be a more pleasant experience. read more

Food poisoning cases at the DL Macks at Preston/Royal!!!!! I had heard of another bad experience there and yet still "braved it" at the bar with a friend early evening in Friday, 7/26/24. The only thing we shared to eat that night was the spinach dip, which made sick both as dogs that evening and into the next day. I called my friend the next morning, and she said she had also gotten severely ill after our meal. Total food poisoning from the dip we shared . What's even worse: I called the manager working the following day on Saturday, 7/27, in the late afternoon, and spoke to the female manager on duty. She said she was sorry to hear we got sick from their food, that she would check out the kitchen, and call us both back no later than the next day. Neither my friend nor I ever heard back from DL Macks regarding the poisoning. She had mentioned that the spinach dip came in a vat...This is beyond disappointing, really scary, as we all need to trust the places we choose to dine!! I am so disappointed in their failure to address poor food handling and/or harmful health issues associated with their food products. The worst part? In an effort to create awareness and safety for DL Mack's customers, we wrote corporate (Vandelay Hospitality) on the website message board, early the following week, detailing the event specifics and our deep concerns. It is NOT acceptable to poison your clients, period, ever, and just ignore client health and safety issues and their attempts to repeatedly give a heads up to management so as to prevent future occurrences for what should be a trusted neighborhood restaurant. To date, we have yet to hear back from DL Mack's management...and we have yet to hear back from Vandelay Hospitality. We are dining out regulars in Dallas - however, is so unacceptable and certainly not reflective of the quality of restaurants in our Dallas area for sure. Not safe, not responsible, truly disappointing, and very, very scary!!! I really liked that place and am so bummed out they have seemingly gone downhill so quickly :(. We've eaten in the restaurant 5-6 times and picked up the pizza to go many many times...so good! My favorite dishes are the spinach dip, the Scottish salmon, and the redfish. And I love the Bee's Knees cocktail with the limoncello foam. The servers are always friendly. Sometimes the hosts/hostesses are not, but not too big of a deal. The one thing I can't believe isn't on the menu are some vegetable sides. One of the couples we went with didn't like it for that reason alone. It won't keep me away though! read more

D L Mack's in Preston Royal has drastically changed their menu. They deleted many of our favorites such as: San Simeon red wine Meatball appetizer red snapper Chicken Parmigiana Steak fries replaced by too-salty skinny fries Fontina and Tomato Pizza These are just a few of the dishes that are now gone! It's a small menu to start with so we really miss our favorites. They need some green veggies on the sides list. Too many high-carb items. read more

Everything food wise and service were great. No complaints there. Reason why it does not get 5 stars is because the cocktails left a lot to be desired. Went to the bar at 5pm last week. Ignored while regulars got their waters refilled and other drink orders taken. Started a clock to see how long before I was noticed. At the ten minute mark they were still ignoring me and hanging with their (super drunk) regulars, refilling waters which I still had not received, much less a drink. Will not return. read more

D.L.Mack's reminds me of the "Houston's" type of totally classy restaurant with amazing food, awesome surroundings and impeccable service. The pizza is among the very best I have ever had and is on par with the very best in Manhattan. The staff is the most welcoming you can find anywhere. Don't miss this place! read more

Went to the Preston Hollow location this evening for the first time. First of all, amazing cocktails and great bar service. Got seated at our table, and Sydney was our server. We started with the spinach artichoke dip, what was delicious and the chips were so fresh and crisp. After, we had the Gibson Salad, which was comprised of shaved brussels, lemon Parmesan vinaigrette and almonds. We couldn't get enough of it! The vinaigrette was vibrant and the almonds gave it just a little crunch. Finally, we built our own pizza, which was Canadian bacon, kalamata olives and mushrooms. The cheese pull on this pizza was epic! The Canadian bacon was thinly shaved, and slight crispy on the edges. The crust was thin, crispy and soft in the best way. There was a smoky chargrilled taste that we all raved about. The food was a 10/10! The atmosphere was cozy and not too loud. Our server Sydney was AMAZING! It seems they've expanded their menu, which was a welcome surprise. The thin crust pizza is perfect for sharing between two people (ask for the spicy Ranch as a dipper). The Caesar salad is also enough to split between two, but keep it mind that it's more of a vinaigrette vs creamy. The cocktails are solid, especially the "coldest martinis." We love this place for a casual dinner and happy it's in our 'hood! read more

Have to say the food and ambiance is GREAT here, but recently me and my girlfriend had dinner, and to both our Surprise, our Waiter "Joshua" gave us our check and within a few minutes came back and asked when we thought we'd be able to pay our tab. We thought it was a little aggressive but maybe his shift was ending and wanted his $$. After we paid, he came back again and asked when we would be leaving? We then asked is there a problem, he said I just need to keep things moving, we looked around, there was no one waiting for a seat, their were a couple of tables and even some chairs at the bar. But he was adamant that he wanted us to leave. We gave him a 20% tip, but if I would have known he was going to ask us to leave, I wouldn't have left him more than 5%. Its unfortunate that the Service at D.L. Mack's was horrible, and treating us the way he did was RUDE. We looked for a manager but frankly we were so upset we couldn't wait to get out of there. I would suggest calling in your order or using Door Dash, maybe going to a different location. If you do go, make sure Joshua isn't your server!!! read more

Great neighborhood restaurant with an excellent Happy Hour at the bar or on the patio! The food is really good, especially the pizza. It is a thin crust with just the right amount of sauce and plenty of toppings. They have two excellent frozen drinks, the Bellini and the Paloma. The Paloma may be my new favorite drink there! But be warned, this place is so popular you need a reservation. read more
