SO GOOD! And so so happy to find a place with not just many vegan authentic Vietnamese/asian options but the WHOLE MENU WAS! The sweet and sour "chicken" was soo good the soy chunks were flavored so well, and same with the Lemon Grass Noodle the tofu/soy "beef" was INCREDIBLY flavorful. Truly one of the best vegan/vegetarian places I have ever been to and so happy people are putting in the effort and showing others that it is possible to make any cuisine taste almost just as good as original meat based recipes. As a lifelong vegetarian, the struggle to find equally good meals as my meat eating friends is so hard, especially with cultural cuisines that are based heavily in meat or people don't put effort into their (very few) vegan/vegetarian options on their restaurant menus and I'm used to having to eat and pay for very mediocre food. Finally a place I can go to and not ask "does this have meat in it?" I've been eyeing this place for a while now- I see it every time I go to Bistro B. However, they close pretty early (8 PM), so I was never able to try it. BUT THE DAY HAS FINALLY COME! I came with my friends around 6:00 on a Friday night and found it surprisingly pretty empty. Everything on the menu looked really good and of course, was all vegan! I love how descriptive the menu is- it tells you exactly what's in the dish, so you don't have to ask! I ordered spring rolls with shredded tofu as well as the Golden Noodle Soup. The spring rolls were amazing- the shredded tofu was flavorful and delicious. It doesn't come with your traditional peanut sauce, but whatever sauce they gave, it was good! The Golden Noodle Soup was delicious- the broth was light yet flavorful and came with two types of noodles (your traditional pho noodle as well as a golden noodle) and lots of assorted vegetables and tofu. The price is pretty cheap as well compared to most Vietnamese restaurants. I'll definitely be back to try all the other stuff on their menu! read more

They're entirely vegan, the food is delicious, and the prices are super: $8.50 for a hearty bowl of pho, noodle soup, or stir fried noodle dish; $4 for fresh rolls, $2 for spring rolls, $2-3 for freshly made drinks (I love the salt lemonade and the fresh pennywort leaf juice!) I've tried the pho (excellent), golden noodles (great), and bahn mi (which is small, as it's an appetizer, but tasty and well worth it.) And don't leave without trying the housemade vegan cheesecake! It's only $3 for a good-sized slice, and it's fantastic: super dense (like a good NY cheesecake style texture), not overly sweet, with a nice crust that tastes like there's some cocoa in it. A little hidden gem among the many ethnic markets of this shopping plaza, D'Vegan Restaurant has great signage from the front. Follow through the doors, past the bakery and the shop with dead animals hanging from the ceiling, and you've found a little slice of vegan heaven. With the sweetest little ladies working the whole front of house, it's a very laid back atmosphere. Much easier to point to menu items or use the numbers and letters provided, and you can rest assured everything is vegan (even the cheese cake). I ended up with 3 appetizers: the seitan strips, zucchini noodle pho, and soy banh mi. Together they made for a great lunch. The seitan are not what the menu picture looks like unfortunately, they're from a bag I believe, and reheated. The pho and banh mi on the other hand were great. Pho was light fresh, banh mi was flavorful and a larger app for sure. Overall very pleased, a solid quick lunch spot. Nothing out of this world but you'll leave full and satisfied :) read more

My parents asked me to find them a vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant for them when they came to visit in Dallas. I scoffed and said such a place does not exist here. It's not California for goodness sakes. Well, I checked anyway just to tell them it does not exist. Boy was I wrong. Not only is D'Vegan Vietnamese vegetarian, it's highly rated on Yelp! I thought this was a scam so I drove them over to see what this place was all about. It is inside the Hong Kong supermarket as others have mentioned. There is ample parking and is definitely not hard to find. Once we got inside, the kind hostess lead us to a table and immediately my parents faces lit up. The hostess spoke Vietnamese and was incredibly polite. She served us tea and offered suggestions on what was good. It seemed everything was delicious so we ordered the Chick'n Bun Bowl, vegetarian pho, bun bo hue, bang mi and congee. Each of the noodle bowls was incredibly flavorful. I especially liked the flavors in the pho broth. A lot of times, vegetarian pho is a bit too sweet for me and lacks depth. But this broth was rich and had depth. I liked the congee a lot as well. The bun bo hue was spicy, with a lot of the flavor and tasted just like regular bun bo hue. In each of these dishes they add a bit of gluten (seitan) as mock meat. I like this but I know some people do not so be warned. The chick'n bun I had was tasty but a bit dry. It was served with vegan fish sauce but this was a bit too sweet for me. This place is such a gem. My parents can be so difficult to please so I'm thrilled to have found a place they adore so much. Thank you D'Vegan for proving me wrong. read more

Had the chance to stop in for lunch last weekend with Mr G and some friends. The location is inside next to the Hong Kong Market, nothing fancy, but sometimes those are the best places. I ordered the table some spring rolls and crispy fried rolls. For my entree I went with their take on Bun Bo Hue. It took some time for the rolls to arrive but they were tasty, spring rolls had a peanut sauce and a sweeter dipping sauce. There were 4 pieces of each, stuffed with rice noodles and vegetables. The fried rolls were also good and served very hot. The entrees were not served anywhere close to the same time, and with just a small group, it makes eating awkward. The last dish arrived close to 10 minutes after the first, so that was a bit unfortunate. My soup had tofu and some seitan pieces, all with good flavor. The noodles in my soup were closer to a spaghetti thickness rather than classic thin rice noodles. The broth wasn't quite up to the spice level that I've had when ordering traditional Bun Bo Hue, but there were hot peppers and siracha on the table to add to it. When we went to pay, their card machine was down. Who carries cash anymore?! Thankfully we had enough between the four of us, but I don't know what they would have done if that wouldn't have worked out. The food here is freaking great. I eat here at a minimum of 3 times a week for the past two years. It's a vegan take on traditional Vietnamese dishes. Definitely has a distinct and wide range of flavors compared to lots of the veganized food out there. I don't write many reviews but I really like this place and need it to prosper. Not many vegan restaurants in the area - so its a real asset for those of us on this side of town looking for vegan food. And one other note - some of the negative reviews are focused on the interior design and cleanliness. It is defiantly dated inside but it has always been clean. Thinking some of these reviews are influenced by the fact that the restaurant is located in Hong Kong Place Market and yeah there are some of the hanging ducks OUTSIDE of the restaurant. read more

OMG! After trying the food here, I will never return to a chain Pho place I have gone to in the past. Now I know what authentic Pho tastes like. A fellow veg-head and I were greeted warmly and escorted to a table. Like my friend had mentioned, it was nice to look at a menu where all of the options are vegetarian. I ordered the Pho and my pal opted for the D'Vegan Noodle Soup, and we shared a dish called Deluxe Flat Noodle. My Pho was incredible, full of flavor. I kept thinking that it was nothing like the Pho I had tried in the past. It contained nice bits of soy protein, noodles, tofu, scallions and I believe bamboo shoots. I found myself saying several times "Man, this is good!" Whatever it contained, it was scrumptious! The noodle dish we shared contained big noodles, soy protein, and a wide variety of vegetables. It had a smoky, hearty flavor that a meat-lover would appreciate. My dining buddy loved her soup, as well. It contained more vegetables and had a spiciness to it. I have nothing but good things to say about D'Vegan except that it's too far away from where I live. I made a mental note of my bookmark of D'Vegan and remembered it when I happened to be on that side of town. It's located on a corner where there a lot of Southeast Asian shops/restaurants/markets. It's hidden away in the back of the Hong Kong Marketplace that consists of other food stands and bakeries. It seems like a spot where you could browse for hours if you had the time to do it (making another mental note). I walked into the Hong Kong Marketplace away from the cold, snowy, bustling parking lot and quickly made a B line towards the glass doors in the back marked D'Vegan. Once I entered the dimly lit area, my eyes adjusted quickly to the lack of light, and I took my seat in one of their booths. The dining area is actually pretty big. Nothing too fancy...a lot of tables, booths lining the walls, a couple of monitors...that's about it. The service is great. Everyone who works their was friendly, polite, and very helpful! I ordered the spring rolls and the broccoli and rice dish. The rolls came out pretty quickly. They were real hot and crisp with a lot of flavor. They weren't the best crispy spring rolls that I've had, but they were quite good...a lot better than average! I was really pleased with the main dish though! The broccoli was fresh and perfectly cooked (still had it's bright green color with a little bit of crispness) and the soy protein that was used in the dish was excellent! What really tied it all together was the sauce! A nice brown vegetable sauce that complemented each item in the dish perfectly! Perfection! When I was leaving, I chatted with the owner, and he was telling me of his ties with Goji Cafe in Dallas. If we want these good Vegan spots to stay thriving, and want more of them in the future...go out and support these establishments! Keep them thriving! Definitely go out and support this gem! Every time I visit Texas, my best friend would always mention D'Vegan to me and she'd continuously say that she'd take me. It usually never happens, because we tend to forget and eat something else, LOL. WELL, this one fine day came and D'Vegan happened! It was a rainy day in Texas, so soupy entrees were perfect! The name of the restaurant gives it away, but yes, this place is entirely vegan.. and what's unique about it is that it's a vegan Vietnamese restaurant. I wanted to try the pho, but the Bun bo hue was calling my name, only because I wanted to see if the vegan one would taste any different. The presentation for the bun bo hue looks exactly the same as a normal bun bo hue. The flavor was fantastic! The vegan version tasted exactly like the regular bun bo hue. I usually get really sleepy after eating a bowl of bun bo hue, only because it's a pretty heavy bowl of soup, but with the vegan one, I didn't feel like that at all!! I'm very impressed! Having recently altered our culinary intake to exclude all meat from our menu, my wife and I were intrigued by both menu and reviews of D'Vegan. We found ourselves entering the establishment on a Thursday afternoon about two-thirty. Entry to the restaurant was via a short mall ran by a gauntlet of foul smelling outlets offering a variety of South Asian tastings that were the beginnings of what is best described as underwhelming at best and gawd-awful at worst. Our approach to the entry door was greeted with a "Help Wanted" in both English and what was presumably Vietnamese. Okay, we understand good help can be difficult to come by. And perhaps this is only method of notice the proprietor could come up with to address this issue. But it's also a warning sign implying BUYER BEWARE. Upon entering there was one customer leaving the counter with a take-out order and there was no other soul in the dining room. When we asked the lady at the counter if we could sit at a booth she looked us at as though we were speaking a foreign language. Sure enough, we were! After several failing attempts of communication she went and retrieved our server who spoke great English. Bless her heart, our server appeared to be in her mid-eighties and stooped with age. Her appearance was unkempt and she kept herself about six to eight feet away as though one of us was contagious. We asked for green tea and brought to the table was a rank tasting fluid the color of rust. It was such as to cause us to question the purity of the water. My wife and I both came to the conclusion that the environment was not conducive to having a meal we could walk away from and still be healthy. We asked for the meal to go and still left a 30% tip. The counter lady rewarded us with a complimentary bag of vegan jerky. In all honesty, we gave our untouched meal to a homeless man and wished him well. He wished us God Bless in return. We take no pleasure in reporting less than positively about any business as we are business-driven as well and we understand how important reviews can be in in the social environment. Call me crazy... But vegetarian people are so nice!!! Or at least the owners of the restaurants I've been going to are. Continuing my attempt on trying to change to a vegetarian lifestyle, the second restaurant I chose to try was D'Vegan. The owner was Vietnamese and told me to choose to sit anywhere I pleased and was really welcoming. Reminded me of my mother. After about 10 minutes of trying to decide what to get, the two plates me and the fiancé tried were the lemongrass noodle and veggie noodle. These two plates were excellent. The egg rolls were perfectly crisp and the filling was tasty. We even order two more portions to-go. Everything else didn't even taste vegetarian and as a meat lover, I was content. I was so full even before finishing my food since the portions are quite fulfilling. They offer food where the counter is such as beef jerky, which the owner said were really good and tasted like real jerky. He was funny and made a comment such as he wasn't just advertising to sell. Maybe next time though. I do want to try their Bun Bo Hue, Pho and Chao. So many good options to try! read more

The noodle soup was a gigantic bowl of what seemed like a vegetable broth with noodles, tofu, mushroom, scallions, and cilantro. I'd never think a dish so diluted could hold such deep flavors. Impressed! But only when I was 3/4th way through my entree did the appetizer arrive. I was so full by then, I wish she'd forgotten them instead. All their food is sooooo GOOD! I was so happy to find this place many moons ago because I thought I was not able to eat PHO ever again but thanks to the owners now we can eat all kinds of dishes meat and dairy free! They serve all kinds of rice dishes, noodle dishes, of course PHO that is to die for. I have a habit of getting the number 5 Lemon Grass Noodle with Beef Seitan. It is soooooo yummy! Everything is affordable here which is not typical of healthy vegan dishes. Today, I took happy fried rice to go. I get this once in a while.
