5 star fish And chips. 5 star ono salad. 5 star pork tacos. Husband had fish and chips. We are from Seattle, and picky on fish and chips. You can mess this dish up royally. Not here. Not at this gem of a food truck. Crispy. Great tasting. I had the ono salad. I want that delightful green dressing to take home in a bottle. I love ono. It's my most favorite fish and was thrilled to be able to enjoy it. The greens were fresh. (I had curly fries too ... And they were good, too). Daughter had pork tacos. She said they were 5 stars. She claimed they were better then other ones we had earlier in our trip. Definitely eat here. It's delicious, well worth the money. C'mon! A food truck in Kihei, South Maui? Two words. Just amazing! I took three friends here and ordered calamari with extra sauce and beer battered fish tacos ( 3 of them ) with extra sauce and the order taker/sweet gal actually listened! She was fantastic & friendly. Not only did I get super fresh calamari, but curly fries came with it! This experience beat any sit down super expensive restaurant you could find; and the parking lot with 4 other food trucks is just East of Long's Drugs in Kihei, Maui. Aloha Nani Pirates, I was trying to contact you directly on your website as I didn't want to make a public statement, but your contact page is not working. I wanted to give you feedback that I was really disappointed trying out your food truck at the Piikea location in Kihei. First off, I called in an order and was told twenty minutes which is normal. I show up 25 minutes later on site to give time, paid and then expected my order but nothing came. I finally asked the guy and I am told that there are orders in front of me but they are working on mine. I then wait another twenty minutes on site! (Looking back I should have cancelled my order then but I was looking forward to trying the food we ordered). The waiting was really inconvenient and ate my whole lunch break but that was not the deal breaker. Since I was there waiting so long, I got to watch the food prep folks working in the truck. Watching made me realize that you're staff on the day I ordered (04/06/21) needs to revisit customer training and proper food handling training (speaking particularly to the young guy at the window front in weekend attire of Lakers bball jersey and sweat shorts). Standards are needing to be extra because of pandemic. Customers need to feel secure that safety and sanitation is being upheld. This front server (with bare hands) took orders, handling money/pens for writing down stuff, handled the company phone, and was in contact with customers. Those same hands also handled sauce containers and finished like cilantro garnish on the food without any washing or sanitation. Scratching his crotch did not add to the appetizing factor of the food. I got the food, and ended up scrapping off the entire toppings and sauce from the fish tacos and only eating the cooked fish part. The other dish was luckily fried and he didn't touch it. I want to give the benefit of the doubt that you guys just grew really fast and have attention in the multiple food trucks and new business. This was unfortunately my first time and first impression and I don't think I want to try again at least at this location. Please make sure your quality and standards can still be met and that customers can trust you or this is what eventually kills small businesses here. Stay true to your commitments. This also goes for what you're associating yourself with. If you've pledged to be an Ocean Friendly Restaurant than stick with that commitment of "Upon Request Only". The guy threw plastic utensils at me without a blink. This is where the training comes in to let your workers know that your food truck is participating in these programs and the behavior that goes with it. These are basics but make a world of difference for customers. I'm happy for the growth but make sure you've got a handle on your workers (point of sale and face of company). I wanted to try every food truck int he park when I recently visited, but I could pick only one. And Da Nani Pirates came thru with flying, sauce soaked colors. The staff was friendly and helped my family locate some menu choice. I went with the big ole Davey Jones burger and...daaaaam! This burger was large and in charge, but didn't rely on just size or a massive bun. There was a lot of tasty components to it. Ive never had a guava bun, but now I want one on all my burgers, and the combination of the egg on the onion rings left me in a food coma that I am still working my way out of. This food truck is located behind a shopping center with other trucks. They have a nice sitting area and parking in the back. This garlic shrimp salad with coleslaw was one of my favorite meals on the island (if not my favorite). Everything about it was perfect. The greens were so surprisingly fresh I could taste the difference from our regular grocery store greens! I wish we had more time here because I would be back as much as I could!! read more

Great friendly service and for the little ones, a TV to watch while you wait/eat. We had the fish and chips with Mahi mahi and the ono fish tacos. Loved the fish and chips, as the fish were perfectly fried--crispy and tender--and the curly fries and fry sauce definitely ono! I really really really wanted to love the fish tacos more than I did, but although the ono was perfectly cooked, I found the overall flavor a bit lacking. I think this is because both the slaw and the dill tartar sauce were quite sweet? I felt it needed a bit of spice, or a bit more acid, or more salt on the fish, or SOMETHING to have greater depth. I'm not saying it wasn't tasty, just that it felt overall a bit too light and sweet for me. Maybe it's just a personal preference thing! But I have faith in this truck overall and would absolutely go back to try other offerings, if only I weren't leaving tomorrow :(((( read more

As you can probably tell from my reviews, I don't eat animal protein other than fish...but my fiancé does, and this place NEVER disappoints him. He rates it as 'BEST BURGER ON ISLAND' whaaaaat?! That's a tall order, but, I mean, look at the picture. I don't eat them, but if a picture could speak a thousand words, even I'd believe it. As far as other items on their menu, their curly fries are yuuuuuummmmmmy, fish and chips are on point, and pork sliders are all SO good. To be honest, that's all we've tried! Not badly all! We did a door dash order so can't speak to the actual food truck or ordering environment. But the food was really good, and definitely among the best we had in this area. Mac salad: 5/5 yum if you like things a bit rich and are tired of the basic Mac salad from L&L. It's peppery and creamy, and the Mac itself is nice and firm. Ahi poke nachos: 3/5 it's fine but probably not the best poke out there. A little bland although the onions help it out. Fish tacos: 4/5 Delicious! But fish was on the dry side. Lots of flavors and the tortilla as well as the coleslaw were terrific. I'm kind of a slaw connoisseur, and the way they prepared with sour cream and some lime for the tacos was perfect in my opinion. Based only on one experience I'm giving them 4 stars for now. The pulled pork wrap came with white rice and macaroni salad and was a good satisfying lunch for two. Not a big fan of styrofoam containers in this day and age, so please switch it up to cardboard for an extra star next time! Spent about $30 for 6 tacos. Had seared ahi tuna, garlic shrimp and pulled pork. All of them were delicious. Mouth watering and gut filling. I highly recommend them. We ate here on several occasions on our trip to Maui. We especially liked the coconut shrimp and fried calamari. I'd say their portions are average so we couldn't share dishes. Be careful of the price increases for dinner. We were surprised to pay a lot more for the same dish around 6pm, and you don't get larger portions either. Visited on June 11th, after a sweet trip to the empty south side beaches; our first trip out of quarantine in many months. One order of fish n' chips, and one order of the battered fish taco plate (three monster tacos per order) later, and I will say with out a doubt that this is the best fried fish on island. All of the five-star reviews are spot on here. The batter is perfectly crisp with out being oily, in that light and flaky way that some how negates the fact that you're consuming a deep fried object. The slaw on the tacos is creamy with a tangy dill pickle-y kind of note, a nice compliment to the fried fish. The 'chips' are curly fries, and who doesn't love those? I was starving after a business meeting and wanted to check out the food trucks at the Kihei Station. Da Nani Pirates happened to be the only one open. I walked away disappointed, but then I pulled up their Yelp reviews touting the best fish 'n chips on Maui. Note, this girl LOVES fish 'n chips. Like.... if chicken wings aren't on the menu, fish 'n chips are my second go-to item. No joke. I was WAY to hungry to drive anywhere else, so I decided to try something new, turned around, and tested out the waters of the Da Nani Pirates. The owner (I'm assuming) took my order and gave me an estimate of ~10 minutes or less and he was spot on! I got my order super quick which was nice. The fish 'n chips are made with a lilikoi beer batter and comes with a homemade mango tartar sauce & a regular tartar sauce and homemade fries. I was surprised to find 2 different types of sauces, but no malt vinegar which is my favorite (blasphemy!). I begrudgingly dipped a piece into the red sauce to satiate my hangry-ness and once those babies touched my tongue, I was immediately sent into a state of euphoria. OH MY GOSH. How could this be? Where have you been all my life? I've had fish 'n chips in London and many other places, but these blew them all out of the water. Hands down, best fish 'n chips I've ever had! This was a game changer, folks. The flavors were amazing. I liked both sauces, but the red sauce (mango tartar?) which had a BBQish sweet tang to it was DA BOMB! It paired so well with the crispy fish pieces and the batter was packed with flavor. I usually always need malt vinegar 'cause I freaking love vinegar, but these did not need it at all. This food truck is a good option to suit a lot of peoples wants. They have salad, tacos, burgers and plate lunches/dinner, all of which cover seafood and some chicken/beef options. My husband and I liked it as an option and thought the presentation of the food was spectacular, but we deducted a star because of the cost of the burger he got and the fact that the fries tasted like nothing special, just frozen fries. My seared ahi salad was really good though, and the wasabi/pineapple dressing was to die for. Definitely worth the quick trip! read more
