Home made root beer in a frosty mug
Julia H.

If you've never been to this neighborhood burger joint you need to try it. It's been serving great burgers, homemade root beer in a frosty mug and many other choices since 1956. I really can't even imagine how many times I've been here over the years. Always a burger, fries and root beer. My hubby always gets a chocolate shake with his burger and fries. They actually have quite a few other options but their burgers are so good. The service is always friendly and fast. You can even sit in your car and a friendly carhop will wait on you! Try it, you'll like it!

Best hamburger in Dallas!!!! There fries remind me of my mom's fries right out of that cast iron skillet!!!

Still have car hop service..! Even with these temperatures....that's worth 5 Stars right there

5 Stars Just Because: 1. In continuous operation since 1956 2. I never feasted here until today and it was delicious 3. To my knowledge is the only remaining "hamburger stand" of this type left in Dallas 4. Great service 5. This is a big one, Frosted Mug of Root Beer while it's 100 outside!!!! Dairy-ette is all at once an enigma, paradox and sanctuary rolled into one. Off Ferguson Rd in eastern Dallas this place was sitting here when my parents brought me to see my grandmother who lived down the street. However,I knew not of it's existence, until decades later when I was driving to her house myself. A great question is,why haven't you eaten here before? You say even as a Yelp Elite having book marked it years ago you..still didn't? Simply I don't know. What I do know is this place has been in almost the same state of operation for 67 years. In the meantime, I've seen 2 major shopping malls, countless office buildings and some residential streets built and demolished. Go figure. The more things change the more they stay the same. However, fair warning,I have a feeling this endangered species,a living museum seemingly stuck in an episode of Twilight Zone,is going going... You better...Go

Old school place where I grew up. The food is still great. The service is great. Come and check it out.

I've been a customer since 1963 A throwback to the 1950's drive in burger joint with car hops. It remains unchanged and eating great food in your car is a must experience. Try the homemade root beer. Bryan Adams HS and Bishop Lynch alumni know it well.

Try the corn dog!!
Sherry S.

The corn dogs are hand dipped & delicious. I'd put it up against a Fletcher's any day of the week. The root beer comes from their own recipe, so what's not to love??

the place is gettin a one star due to the fact they don't open on time says 11am -6pm and no one is ever here at 11 am i love the burgers and the feel of the place but i have to say cant rely on the hours they posted tgat they are supposedly open

Another great burger place, greasy fries and the best home brewed Root Beer. Don't get there very frequently but always a good place to go.

Always a great stop for a burger and root beer float. Worth the wait for the bacon cheese burger.

Come for root beer floats and onions rings. It's sooo good. Burgers and sandwiches were heavily unsatisfying though.

Always delicious and our favorite neighborhood spot. My fave: the patty melt and a root beer with tater tots. Also love the carhop service!

We enjoyed our plates a lot and have seconds to take home. The restaurant has an ordering kiosk,…read morewhich isn't always my favorite because a lot of times a kiosk means service isn't as good. However, the staff was very attentive and checked in on our table, brought us drinks and condiments. We enjoyed this for a new dining experience!

Overall: 3.3/5 [dine in]…read more We ordered on the kiosk and the food was ready quickly. Mixed Plate Classic ($12.99) + Seasoned Vegetables ($1.00): We chose the Honolulu Chicken, Kilauea Chicken, white rice, and seasoned vegetables. The veggies tasted like frozen veggies and the white rice came underneath the chicken, which we didn't realize until after. Had we known, we would have chosen the macaroni salad as our second side instead. The Honolulu Chicken is supposed to be garlicky but the flavors were just alright. The Kilauea Chicken was way better and had a nice little spicy kick. The white rice was also okay but a bit on the harder side. Additional Teriyaki Sauce Cup ($0.25): We ended up pouring this over the vegetables to give them some flavor. SPAM Musubi Single ($3.79): Not good. The rice was hard and they just poured teriyaki sauce on top of the spam. Skip this one. Pineapple Luau Slider Single ($3.99): It was okay but I wished it was made with Hawaiian rolls. Scoop Macaroni Salad ($0.99): Also just okay. It tastes like a black pepper macaroni salad. You can skip this one too. Mini Twist Soft Serve ($1.99): A mix of blue island wave and pineapple Dole soft serve that is fat free, dairy free, gluten free, and low calorie. This was really good and a great way to end the meal.

Went to go pickup lunch and head over to my son's apartment to chill while he was on lunch break…read moreand In-N-Out was the perfect choice. My youngest son has Gluten and and Egg allergies and we let the cashier know and he stepped back and shouted to the crew, "Gluten and Egg" allergy order. Which is awesome! My son with the allergies ordered the Protein Style Doube-Double with fries and and no sauce. The protein style is a lettuce wrap. My other son ordered a normal double-double meal. My wife and I both ordered the same - pretty much a burger with no meat but I got cheese fries and she got normal. The staff builds gluten free orders in a separate station to prevent cross-contamination and the workers change their gloves. When bagging the order, they placed his order in its own bag. Which is great! My son could have had two of the double-double since it is lettuce vs a bun. He loved it and he mentioned the fries were good. As far as my grilled cheese with all the veggies, it was good and filling. The sauce is tasty. My cheese fries were good (it is American cheese slices on top and they melt it is an oven). It would be better to eat at the restaurant as it hardened by the time we got to my son's apartment. I like the fries overall but I don't love them, I thought maybe adding the cheese would be better. All in all - love the service. The food was good and my family was happy.

This was my 2nd time ever at In and Out and it was delicious. It's not the best food I've ever had,…read morebut it's really good for fast food. I got a double double with onions and fries animal style, which I definitely recommend if it is one of your first times at In and Out. Great way to experience both animal style and the flavors of the burger without the sauce covering it up. The burger was great. Probably one of the best burgers I've had from a fast food spot. The fries were ok. The sauce and the cheese definitely carried.

So many 5 star reviews....and weirdly that I lived 2 miles from this place for 7 months back in…read more1996....and somehow, never got here. Well I have now, even if it is 30 years late. HAHA Ordered the #5 Double Meat special and fries. People love comparing this to that, etc....I've never had 2 burgers like this. It was hot, it was yummy it was delivered with awesome service by Tami (my car hop!!). The fries? They were hot and awesome. Watch out on those fries...let em cool a bit. I will be back for sure soon! Strange to think this place could get full, but I bet it does on a daily basis at lunch/dinner. 1st spot you see might be the last spot you see during a busy lunch/dinner rush.

This was one of my places to go ahead and try and Dylan recommended this place so I decided…read moreyesterday to go and try it. It does have an old vibe to it with the people go to you to order the food. There are many cars outside and was worried that it would take awhile. The servers come to you and you order through their tablet. I had to take a minute, but you have to make sure you have your blinkers on and they will come to you. I ordered the following #5 Special with bacon #1 The best burger and then the cheese fries I got the order within 10 minutes and did not take too long. Once they deliver the food to you, I paid through credit card and then you can tip them so I gave them an 18% tip as they were nice and serve the food to me. The food is very messy and oily so make sure you bring some hand sanitizer. They packed in a lot of napkins as well. The burger itself was just alright, was a little cold for me though so not so sure how long it was waiting. The lettuce and tomato was a little on the soggy side. The meat itself was just alright. When I ate it, I did not experience the wow factor. I can not complain about the price however. Overall, I rather go to Inn-n-out, but I am glad I got one of the places to try in Dallas out of the way.
