Best DQ I've ever been to. Greeted immediately after walking in and the service was fast and friendly. Food delivered to our table was hot and delicious. Dining room is large and very clean. Bathroom was also very clean with plenty of hot water. Only complaint: cheap napkins. And the music was just a little too loud. Nothing was bad enough to keep them from getting five stars though! I've been a fan of this particular DQ location for years. I've enjoyed dining in, taking out, and also their always efficient drive-thru lane. The customer service at this particular location is stellar. You can tell that the employees are treated well and enjoy their work. This afternoon, I was disappointed. It looks like this DQ location is skimping on the blizzards. At the drive thru, the server turned the cup over, but I didn't see anything in the cup to begin with. Finally, when I received the blizzard cup, I saw that it was only 3/4 of the way filled. In the past, the blizzards used to always rise above the surface of the cup. Not today. I've never seen it like this where it was not at least full to the brim -- if not more so. I sure hope this was a one-time quality control issue. I go to this store more than any other because it is near the office I work out of, The food here (Like most DQs) is consistently good as is the service. This store has one other good feature and I think his name is Dave. I did spend about twenty five years in the restaurant and often took pride in my employees and I hope the management here thinks well of this guy. If his name isn't Dave, I apologize. He is an African American . This guy is always on top of things and keeps his eyes open to help customers or other employees. When he cleans, he doesn't go around things but moves them to do the job correctly. I used to think that he might be the manager because he works like this is his place. This location is very near to my house, so I frequently come here after work for a blizzard. I've never actually gone inside, but they are always super quick and friendly in the drive through. My go-to order is the choco-cherry love and it is consistently delicious and well-blended. Definitely my favorite DQ stop for a blizzard because I've never gotten a bad one! The only time I've really been disappointed was with the cherry dip because it was sickeningly sweet for me, but they'd also just added it to the menu so that may have just been the adjustment period. I hate writing this review because I've always been a fan of Mayfield DQ locations. I never mind paying a bit more because the service is always good and the food is obviously quality. And my gripes wouldn't be nearly as significant if we hadn't been long time Mayfield DQ customers because we love the service we receive here. BUT... having said that, my last two visits in the evening have been less than remarkable. (And the two drive through visits prior have been an exercise in patience with never having steak fingers ready.) On our first recent visit, the food itself was just fine. But the service was abysmal. The restaurant ran out of iced tea. I went to the counter to ask for more. They were able to fill up my cup from the other urn of tea that's used for the drive through. They never made any effort to fill the tea in the dining room though. I also noticed that the staff was having to fill drive-through diet Coke orders from the inside soda fountain. Our service was sullen and disinterested. And we noted that others were getting the wrong order. And unlike almost every other visit to a Mayfield DQ, we were never thanked for our business. In fact, we decided to skip our usual dessert because we were so taken aback by the poor service. Enter Monday night. We decided to go back and get dessert. Guess what? The same sullen person at the counter. (Not calling her out by name publicly, though.) Both Blizzards were of a strange consistency. Even though both of us ordered the same one (the chocolate strawberry one), our Blizzards were totally different -- one had actual strawberry pieces and one didn't. And once again, we weren't thanked for our visit. I really didn't want to write this review, but considering that I've seen the same poor service as a pattern and there's not a more direct way to contact management, this will have to do. I'm basing this review under the assumption that everyone knows DQ is a fast food chain. With that said, it's not the best burger in town...but...We go here all the time because the store is clean, the staff are professional, friendly, happy, accommodating, and hard working. You can tell they like their jobs and each other. They make my burger the way I want it unlike some other DQ locations. The food is hot, fresh, tasty, cheap. The employees are clean. The blizzards are made correctly, and they leave room for me to add my own candy (Reese's pieces). Staff float the dining area and chat with customers, making sure all is well and engage in light conversation. They love dogs, sometimes offering a doggie cookie with a little dab of vanilla. My dog knows what's up on Thursday nights and runs to the car. They're open late, too. I go here because the quality and service is consistent, and I'm not always up for a foodie adventure. The Mister and I indulged ourselves last week and did not regret one bite. I had a luscious Cappuccino Heath Bar and he had the French Chocolate Silk Pie version. This was one of those times where I thought I could not possibly eat it all in one day. Half of it sat in the freezer for a few hours. It looked sad and alone in there waiting to be eaten. So sad. So alone. When I opened the freezer to check on it I heard Shrek's voice say, "Get in my belly!" I'm sure you know what happened next. To celebrate DQ's 25th Anniversary of the Blizzard, they are running a special consisting of a Hunger Buster, Fries, Drink and Blizzard for $5.00. I went for lunch today and got the Dude Combo. That is a Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich with Fries and a large-ish soft drink. The fries were awesome. Some of the best fast food fries ever. I believe the saltiness depends on who makes the fries. Mine were just perfect. My chicken fried steak sandwich came out hot and I had to eat the fries first cuz it was that hot. The breading was nice and crunchy while the meat was juicy inside the breading. Just lovely. When I finished I got the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard HEAVEN! Last time I went here I could have swore some kid was eating the blizzard I ordered right before the guy at the window handed it to me. I ended up writing an email to their corporate people and almost immediately got a response from local management. It turns out after they reviewed the footage that the kid was just holding it to close to his face. Apparently there is a paper ring that goes above the blizzard before they put it in the mixer and it is standard procedure to scrape the excess ice-cream off with the spoon. I think he may have also been chewing gum to add to my perception. Their manager was very responsive to my issue and held a meeting discussing how to prevent this from happening again. The chocolate dipped ice creme is soft serve. Some may call it predigested. Served in a cone, then dipped in melted chocolate. It then is air cooled with help from the ice creme it encases. This causes it to have a hard shell. I recommend this desert or in some cases a main course for those of that type. Various sizes to purchase. Even children will enjoy it. The breading tasted fishy and the chicken tasted, well tasteless, bland and just a hint of salt. Worst of all it was very dry. That leads me to the skinny strips. If you've ever wondered what CHICKEN JERKY might taste like? Well get yourself some of these bad boys, scrape the breading off and presto, you got chicken jerky. Seriously this sucked.
