Dinner was a bust! We ordered a 10 Oz pork chop. Tick tock an hour and 15 min went by! My husband kept telling me to chill and then he was all over the waitress! She kept blaming the short staff. This place has the most "loca" feel I've experienced of any restaurant I've been to in a while during travel. Will it make you feel slightly out of place and uncomfortable at first? Sure, but it's worth it. Tried this place out because of the ridiculous prices at the JW up the street, and there really wasn't another decently reviewed restaurant for a couple miles. The bartender was friendly enough, food options were minimal, but that's a good thing because it seemed like whatever you chose, you can't go wrong. My second visit to Daisy Maes. This is now my favorite Steakhouse when I visit Tucson. I called and left a voice mail on their phone for a reservation. I was called back to confirm. Arrived and was greeted by Dan who promptly seated us. Our waitress Brandi was so friendly and accommodating! One in our party was gluten free and she went out of her way to be sure that everything she ordered was gluten free. Our meals we ample sized for sure. The ribs fell off the bone. The BBQ sauce was a bit spicy for me but then again this is Tucson and they like their Jalapeños. Three of us had a half rack of ribs and we all took some home. The other in our party had the 10 ounce Rib Eye and said it was delish! We ordered 2 desserts to share, Chocolate Sundae and the Chocolate Mousse cake. To die for! I will be back! I was staying nearby at the Marriott and wanted to eat off the property for one night. I chose to come here because of its close proximity. It is easy to miss so keep an eye out. The interior feels pretty worn down but comfortable. I sat at the bar and ordered a drink. I believe the owner is who took care of me. It wasn't busy, so much of the staff was watching Young Guns on the tv over the bar. Now the food.. first I ordered some wings which were good but not great. I ordered the 14 oz Ribeye for dinner. It isn't cheap at $30 but it is certified angus beef. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The sides of a baked potato, beans and bread were average. I regret asking my husband to bring me here for my Mother's Day dinner. We originally planned to go to Silver Saddle but Daisy Mae was closest to our home. I can't believe we paid 93 dollars to wonder bread with a cheap garlic paste and eat our steak on a plastic plate. Our server brought my Arnold Palmer out in a small water cup. I asked my server why this was the case since tables around us all had normal cups. She never corrected the issue, we're they're for 2 hours and only saw our server 3 times. We called to say we were going to be late and portions of our party were one hour late....we were bad customers from the beginning.....our waiter was very good, efficient in delivering our food, and the orders were all correct!! Daisy Mae knows her meat! But don't look for more. Maybe it's a bit like walking and chewing gum. Some can do it. Some can't. Daisy Mae can't. Her single mindedness is apparent when you open the menu. Variety doesn't live here. It doesn't even visit. The signature rib-eye was very tasty. The kind of steak where you savor each piece. You even sneak each piece of fat... because you know it's not politically correct to eat it... but you love it anyway. The largest part of Daisy Mae's success is her meat selection. (Minds out of the gutter folks) Good meat doesn't need much help to be good. There is no overt seasoning taste here... just naked meat flavor (you went there didn't you!) Daisy Mae also cooked all of our steaks to exactly how we ordered them. Yep, Daisy Mae knows her meat. I'm not saying the rest of the meal was bad. It just seems more of an after thought. The baked potato was cooked completely and served with traditional butter and sour cream. The salad was iceberg and chunked a bit large. Dressings are the standards only. Beer selection includes my new favorite of Monkey Shine, a local beer. Tequila selection is a bit amiss and sporadic. Pricing seems fair. The building is historic dating back to the 1800s. Today it looks like a saloon with trailer trash furniture. It was a post office, stage coach stop, many restaurants and bars etc... and a brothel at one time!!! The rooms are still there, so they say. I wasn't in the market for "dessert" so I didn't ask! Maybe that explains why Daisy Mae knows her meat so well. Or milking my cow before...... whatever. Basically, this place needs to be in Houston as well. First off the decoration is such a cool concept, I mean the first thing when I see a whole bunch of dollar bills I automatically think stripper but if you dont think of that its a pretty cool concept. I also heard about them donating those dollars to charity which I can get on board with. The steaks themselves are absolutely delicious. I got the ribeye. The thing that I look for in a steak is how much of this steak is usually edible. I dont like getting a bunch of fat and grizzle. If half my steak is that, it is an automatic F. I will be pissy and let my voice heard on YELP in a phase I like to coin as my "Yelper Tantrum." My ribeye was divine. It was cooked a perfect medium rare and the excess that I had was like 1/25th of what I actually ate. A major plus is that if you are in the room with the window overlooking the grill you can see them grill your steak right there. Service was good. I ordered a t bone at $37.00. It was cooked medium as requested, However it must have been a bad cut or frozen for awhile. It was hard to cut and not very tender. The salad, wasn't a salad, more like lettuce in a bowl with one ring of onion, one cherry tomato and one slice of cucumber. The potato was supposed to be loaded. When I get offered a loaded potato, I think of sour cream, cheese, bacon.. etc. it was loaded with margarine and sour cream with a few chilies on top. He did enjoy his steak, just agreed that it wasn't worth the money. Our bill was around $100 with tip. The decor is tacky with a bunch of filthy dollar bills on every wall. There were only 2 other tables occupied while we were there for a total of 6 people. When it was time to leave, they had a benefit or fundraiser of some sort with a bunch of unwatched kids running all over the parking lot, preventing customers from leaving safely without worrying about children running in and out between the cars and getting hit and injured. They stood there and saw we were trying to leave with no response or respect whatsoever. The parking lot was so packed we could hardly fit in our convertible to get out because the cars were so close. All in all this was not a great experience. We were willing to give this place a chance because it is close to home. We have been in Tucson for 2 years, however, we will not be returning. The prices simply do not reflect the ambiance or grade. We were seated promptly, however there was only one other couple when we arrived. The waitresses were courteous. The plates looked like they were retrieved from the dumpster or are original to the place. When it was time to go, and I requested a box for my t bone, they gave me 2 sheets of aluminum foil and a lunch paper bag. Simply put, just not worth the time or money. They can't even splurge on boxes. That's why their prices are so high because no one goes there and they need to make up the money somehow. We were very disappointed. Stopped in Tucson for the night while driving from New Orleans to Los Angeles and was super happy to find this great spot. The restaurant had a very cool vibe with a big outdoor seating area, indoor fireplace and walls (and ceilings and furniture!) covered with dollar bills. The food was amazing. My entire family loved everything we ordered: 14-oz ribeye steak (soooo yummy!), half rack of ribs (fall off the bone delicious), and the fish special (grilled halibut). All entrees came with a perfectly baked potato and family-style baked beans. No complaints at all! To top it all off, there was a nice beer and wine menu and attentive service. Reviews Daisy Mae's is a great place to eat steak if you want to eat in a run down, decrepit, 70's bar that is reminiscent to something you would see in SAW or Texas chainsaw massacre. For a building that easily has 30+ tables they have 2 waiters that will make sure one side of the room has all their food before the other side(who arrived first) hasn't even been served water. Also this place is a great place to meditate as you will have ample time. During the 30 minutes it takes for the staff to get your water and the other 30 to get the check, you will be able to think about your poor decisions you have made in life, such as choosing to eat at this establishment. The chips are phenomenal if you are a fan of a Tostitos family pack and the salsa tastes so homemade that you would think it is straight out of a Pace's chunky salsa jar(it is). Daisy Mae's must love the desert sand because they made their ribs just as dry. The only thing that made them salvageable was their repackaged Sweet Baby Ray's sauce. The potato and bread were normal staples that even an 11 year old can pull off. Because of this they get no accolades for these items. The ranch beans tasted like they live in the same pot for a month at a time with water added every night. The filet was cooked well and had decent flavor once salt and pepper was added. All of that was thrown out the window when they hide the pricing of the minuscule steak by stating market price. You know your restaurant is abysmal when the salad( something I could have made at home) was the best part of the meal. I live a few miles west of Daisy Mae's near Gate's Pass and the restaurant is super convenient -so I hate that we will not be eating here anytime soon. They have BUGS in their restaurant and need to spray! When I left, I was absolutely miserable because I was wearing sandals and little gnats or mosquitos had bitten my feet - so it has to be low-flying bugs from the floor. Usually I really enjoy my food. They have amazing steaks. But tonight, my steak was well-done instead of medium-well, but I did not complain because it took so long to get our dinner. The restaurant did not seem to be all that crowded either. The beans and potato were slightly undercooked and the wine tasted like it came out of a box. At these prices, customers should not have to eat off of CHIPPED plates! What burns me up every time I go here is that in an effort to save a buck, they only give you these paper bags to put your food in instead of a box. There are potatoes and beans and I really wanted to take them home to our dog. Our dinner was $80. This place is NOT inexpensive. So would it really kill them to offer decent containers to take steak home??! I complained and asked for the manager -because is it really so much to ask?? Suddenly, the waitress was told that they did have small containers. (By that time, I had already put the food in the bag.) The manager should have gotten off his butt at the bar and brought the container over. Period. The waitress was VERY nice, but we had to wait for at least 5 -10 min to get our bill so we only tipped 10%. We almost always tip 20-25%. We did not ask for anything off our meal, but I was unhappy from the very beginning. There are just too many great places in Tucson to continue to go to this place. I love the look of this place! Dollar bills decorated with exclamations of love coat the walls everywhere. It is very western looking and very retro but in a cool way. I thought that it was cool that the steaks were grilled outside. We ordered the porterhouse steak( which has the t-bone and filet) to split. It was around $30.00. There is a $4.95 split charge which allows you to get an extra salad and baked potato-which is served with butter, sour cream and chives. The salad was iceberg lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and 1 cucumber slice. Their house dressing was ranch. My fiance enjoyed the ranch. I had the blue cheese, which was a little watery or lacking on flavor. He asked for my onions and tomoatoes on his salad, but I think they forgot. We ordered our steak to be cooked medium-which it was. They even marked the filet side, but it was obivious. The steak was tender, not cut with a fork tender as some described. It lacked a good char. The baked potato was wrapped in foil and very plain. They did not salt the skin. You cut it yourself and add your butter, sour cream, chives (which were actually scallions). The beans were great! I loved the pinto beans with green chilis. The green chilis made it very unique and tasty. It was all you can eat. They also gave us two pieces of Texas toast -all you can eat. Sadly, though, our waitress never asked us if we wanted more-which we both did. She was also slow on our refills. The noise level is extremely high here. It was hard to have a conversation. Do not bring a person with hearing difficulties. I have had better, but I have had worse. I much prefer the look of the place, than the actual food. Cool thing is that the "higher end" beers are all only $4 a pop so you can get a great deal on some killer micro-brews if that's your fancy, or you can go true cowboy and get yourself a Coors Original with your steak (the banquet beer, y'all!). The main attraction--the ribeye--was definitely worth the price of admission.14 oz, even cut, nice healthy cap, a perfect ratio of meat to good fat, simple seasoning so that you taste the meat, excellent grill marks, but not too charred...in sum...the quintessential ribeye. In regards to the sides, the potato was fresh and hot. The beans were excellent and expertly augmented the steak/potato combo. They were not mushy and they had that right amount of smoke and spice that makes cowboy beans so great. Service was great. Very attentive and didn't miss a word or drop a beat. Interesting selection of margaritas but the one I ordered wasn't made with real ingredients (and the bartender over-did it with the Midori). The food itself was very bland with the exception of the chicken which was FANTASTIC. The ribs left much to be desired as did the baked beans. Let me start by saying that the food was very, very good. Everyone in our party of six enjoyed their meal - from the starter salad to the salmon to the ribeye to the chicken to the ridiculously huge tbone to the kids cheeseburger. All was good and tasty. Unfortunately it took a good long while for the food to make its way to us. We have some grace because it was Father's Day and they were busy and...as I mentioned, it was very well prepared. Thankfully we had reservations - not sure what the wait would have been without but there was not much organization in the small entryway when we entered. People were everywhere and there was no hostess in sight. She showed up about 5 minutes later asking if anyone had a reservation and it was just about another 10 minute wait for us before we were seated, which had us seated right at our reservation time. Now if I had any disappointment it was in the comfort (or lack thereof) of the restaurant. There are multiple dining areas and the one we were seated in could have used a bit more elbow room. They'd put as many tables in there as they could possibly squeeze so there is very little space between you and the next family. The tables themselves are rickety and the chairs old and worn. Another helper said it best - at these prices it's not too much to ask for a plate that isn't chipped. The service was very good - friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and all orders came out accurately. So they get a solid four stars from this yelper but I would think twice before returning or maybe do so when it's not so busy - although I'm not sure when that would be as they are clearly quite popular. read more

So disappointed. We had never been here before. We called and made a reservation and when we got there they got our table ready and got us seated (party of 5). I asked the waitress if they were serving the kids menu as it was not listed on the paper menu we got. She said I can tell you what's on it. I let her know I already saw it online I just wanted to make sure we can order from it and she said yes. She came back and took our drink and food order. We got our drinks and salad (my daughter needed a refill on her drink, we neglected to ask but really shouldn't have to). We asked for salt and pepper. Waited. Asked again. Waited. Seriously like 15 min to get salt and pepper and since we had already put the dressing on it the salad was getting soggy. Food came. Asked for some more salt and pepper (due to the current situation they are giving disposable packets. Understandable), both my daughter and I needed refills on our drinks so asked for those, and asked for some extra napkins. Nothing. Asked again. Nothing. It had been another 15 minutes. Seriously food is just getting cold. Waitress said she was sorry there were only two of them there (we had seen at least four different girls by this time). Asked for our drinks again (now needing four refills), salt & pepper, A1, and the manager. Manger Jackie came over and said they are short staffed as they are unsure how many people to staff due to the current situation. Said she would get us what we needed. Napkins and salt & pepper finally arrived while she was talking to us. She said they only had two people, but there were at least 5 girls working outside of the kitchen/grill plus herself. Maybe only two servers, the others may have been busers/other title, but that's not our fault (being a manager means you manage the situation. If you have to jump in and help you should be doing that without having to be asked). She offered us free desert for the issue. They came with our refills. One tea and one soda. We needed three teas and a soda. So our bill comes and I am like ummmm you charged us $29 for the kids ribeye which on the website says $10. Place is way to expensive for what it is, servers are wearing street clothes. Prices are through the roof as well for food. Also if you want to share food, they have a fee to spilt the plate. Will not be coming back again. read more

We had the extreme pleasure of eating steak at Daisy Mae's while visiting our Aunt Mary in Green Valley. The Filet is absolutely awesome. The staff is very attentive and the food couldn't be better. We showed up an hour before opening (forgot to change from Texas to Arizona time) They let us sit at the bar and sip margaritas til they were ready to open. They sat us and waited on us before opening time. it was great. We even defaced a dollar and the owner hung it on the wall. When the walls are full they donate the money to a great cause.
