What a gem this place is. Great breakfast food, but who knew that they had 'Pho?! The food is delicious and the food is great.

We love coming to Darren's Cafe! All the workers are super friendly! We tried so many different dishes from here and we have zero complaints! My brother always gets the French Toast from here! It's a must!

Had dinner here, went with the filet and lobster. Being from the south I could have used a little more salt and pepper on the steak. The steak was not cooked to my liking but it was edible.

Beef pho had so much flavor I added a bit too much of the dark sweet sauce and made my broth a little too sweet so add it slowly limon and siracha was a must! Our tummy was warm and satisfied for the rest of the afternoon. We sat outside and with the outdoor heaters above the tables and the constant check ins for refills or other things we were extremely comfortable and well taken care of. Highly recommended

Tried Darren's Cafe while in San Francisco and really liked it. The food was tasty, came out quick, and the prices were pretty reasonable. Staff was super friendly and made the place feel welcoming. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

This place was hopping when we arrived around 8:30. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for a table, but it was nice and cool out and they have a menu outside that we looked at while we waited. Once we were seated they took our order quickly. Food took about 10 minutes to come out. We ordered the eggs Benedict and then the bagel with cream cheese and avocado...and added an egg to that. The bagel came all separate so you can add the amounts of what you want to it...which worked great for us. Definitely enjoyed our breakfast here...would come again.

Fisherman's Wharf is not the first place I think of to grab some breakfast, but here I was in the most tourist congested area of the city thinking optimistically that I could find something worthwhile to eat. On my way to the Presidio, I just happened to walk by this spot which was already bustling at 8:30AM. I found a table for a solo diner right in front of the register, and the staff encouraged me to take it. The breakfast menu was a robust combination of all American favorites and Vietnamese family dishes. I didn't go got the hotcakes or omelets but chose instead the $16.95 Veggie Fried Rice, a satisfying homestyle mix of rice, soy sauce, eggs, and a variety of chopped vegetables (photo: https://bit.ly/3DdfSsk). There was no art to the execution, but it didn't matter because it hit the spot. Good to know Darren is here for good eats. FOOD - 4 stars...good fried rice fresh from the wok AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...busy and surrounded by tourists SERVICE - 4 stars...pretty conscientious and affable TOTAL - 4 stars...solid breakfast plates both American and Vietnamese RELATED - Exploring Fisherman's Wharf? Still i wanted to give it a chance so I took a sip. All I tasted was the oat milk, i couldnt taste any sweetness, matcha, nor ube. The mocha was a similar story, it was really watery and didn't taste remotely like mocha. Maybe I ordered the wrong drinks but it was a very unpleasant experience. Instead of just pointing us in the right direction, the person working gave us attitude about it. We apologized and explained that we thought we were supposed to stand where we were, and he responded with something along the lines of, "Well, the cashier is here, so you should be standing here." Just a weirdly hostile interaction over a very normal mistake. Then I ordered my coffee and asked for vanilla. He told me they didn't have any, so I said no problem and asked if they had another sweetener. His response was, "No, we don't. I don't do that here." I said, "Oh, okay, interesting," and he responded, "Yeah, that's why there are other coffee shops. You don't have to come here if you don't want to." I also asked for 2% milk, and again got a very curt "I don't do 2% milk," instead of just telling me what they did have. I happily switched to oat milk -- none of my requests were a big deal to me, and I wasn't upset that they didn't have what I originally asked for. It was entirely the attitude. Not sure why every interaction needed to come with so much sass, especially when we were being perfectly polite. Coffee was fine, but the service made the whole experience uncomfortable. Definitely won't be back, and if you're expecting friendly or welcoming service, I'd go somewhere else.

Matcha Ube Latte was unfortunately not as good. As someone whose go to is an ube matcha latte, I've had a lot of them and this one is not it. I shared it with 5 other family members and we only finished about half of it. Perhaps we just got a bad batch. Matcha soft serve was delicious. Often I find ice cream to be too sweet or milky, but this soft serve was perfect with a nice strong matcha flavor. Other people in the group had bagel sandwiches which were really gloopy as well (half the avocado squirted out of one), multiple napkins were ineffective at keeping it under control. They ended up using a fork. For all that, it was a little overpriced for a to-go bagel sandwich and the ingredients were not quite what was ordered via kiosk. I wasn't sure what to order, so I ordered the first 2 items I saw: the seasonal twice-baked croissant and some brioche curry/turmeric-based pastry? (I couldn't find it on the site lol) The seasonal twice-baked croissant was amazing! It was a blueberry croissant filled with blueberries and blueberry jam within. They didn't hold back on the filling. There was an almond crumble on top of the croissant, which added so much more taste and flavor to the pastry itself. Like I was truly in awe. The second pastry I ordered, which I didn't take a photo of, was the brioche curry/turmeric-based pastry. I didn't read when I ordered it, so I ate it completely surprised by the taste. I love a savory pastry, which was a perfect addition for my lunch. The flavors were good, but the turmeric flavor was a little overpowering and not really my favorite. For the 2 I ordered, I'd say it was pretty good overall. For all the other things I wasn't able to order, I appreciated this bakery's variety of spreads and flavors offered.
