This is Korean comfort food at its best. There are so many menu options, especially stews and soups. I had a wagyu bone broth soup as well as a duck soup. The soups each come along with a bowl of warm rice. Both dishes were delicious and hearty. Everything had just the right amount of flavor. I also loved the banchan variety. Whenever we're driving to K-Town, we LOVE stopping by here. In our most recent visit, I brought a couple of my picky eater friends and they were IN LOVE with the food. Had a very satisfying dinner of comforting Korean food. This menu favors soups, so ordering at least one is a must. Three of us shared one beef rib soup and grilled beef short rib patties. But the star of our dinner was the Braised Pork Belly Bean Paste & Marinated Raw Oyster. Rolling up the oysters after dipping the pork belly in bean sauce with cabbage and herbs was so delicious and balanced. Also all the banchan is top flavors. Mostly everyone in the restaurant spoke Korean, so having a speaker would make it easiest. There's a wait list to sign in to. Came here with a friend and ordered a few dishes to share. We got the squid stir fry, braised short rib jjim, leek pancake, and pork belly kimchi stew. Everything came out solid and comforting, the kind of food you actually want to sit with for a bit. The squid stir fry was probably my favorite of the night, especially with the little bits of pork belly mixed in -- good balance and really satisfying. The braised short rib jjim was also really well done, tender and flavorful without being heavy. The leek pancake and kimchi stew rounded things out nicely and felt like staples you'd come back for. This place is really good and a great price for how much you get as well. The water is barely tea, but I'm sure you can ask for normal water if you want. I had the red beef bone soup. Very filling and delicious. I will say though, be careful of the tiny bone shards. Their banchan is super good. I really enjoyed their kimchi. The quail eggs were great. The dried squid was really good. Like none of their sides were a miss for me. They all hit! Bathroom isn't the cleanest, probably like a 6/10. Parking has a guy in the lot that makes you pay $3. Chef Kang really knows how to make amazing food using simple ingredients. He proves it again at Dasom. His signature dish, the Braised Back Ribs 못난이 막 갈비찜 (though the menu calls it "Short Ribs"), was rich, flavorful, and just as tasty as I remembered. The seasoning was bold, with a strong, delicious sauce with lots of seasonings (including MSG ) that leaves a lasting impression. But once again, the service didn't match the quality of the food. The staff didn't seem well-trained. For example, the menu says soju is included during happy hour, but when I ordered Saero 새로소주, I was told it's not part of the deal because it's "too popular." But Saero 새로 is a type of soju. That felt a bit dishonest. Great food is important, but when the service isn't clear or friendly, it takes away from the whole experience. This reason, I won't revisit this place again. read more

Usually I come to Koreatown solely for Korean BBQ, but I made it a point to try some traditional Korean food for once. Trusted in my friend to pick a good spot for that. And that's how we ended up at Dasom! Since it was just two of us, we shared a Braised Short Rib which was essentially pre-cooked hot pot. The menu said this was enough for 2 to 3 people and they were not kidding! There was plenty of short rib in the soup, so much so that I had actually wished we had three people because I was way too full after eating this. Also came with noodles and a heaping of vegetables. Definitely felt like a balanced meal! I also enjoyed the banchan, especially the very fresh kimchi and small boiled eggs. Service here is good. Not too many people in here, but they made sure everyone got attention. Parking here is valet for $4. Pretty much standard fare in Koreatown. Really enjoyed Dasom. Definitely want to come back to try some other things on the menu. read more

This is my new favorite spot for traditional Korean food. As a Korean, I usually look for more traditional meals versus the bbq because no one eats that at home lol. What I first noticed about this place was the big open space and how clean it was. I was also impressed by all the items on the menu. My friend and I split the braised short rib that came in the hot pot. There was plenty of beef in there and the soup base was delicious. I was impressed by the fresh kimchi as well, along with some other side dishes. Next time I come back I want to try the army stew, which looks pretty popular. I have a feeling this place will blow up and will have a long wait out the door next time I'm back. The only major con about this place is that the parking is horrendous, even for valet. But then again where is it NOT bad in K-town? read more

We came for the calbijim! ended up getting the bossam also. Barely finished both dishes with 4 of us. The meat proportions in the calbijim was more than enough, especially with the bossam protein. I love how they give the oyster homemade dip for the boiled pork. The banchan was impressive also, none of them missed. My parents are absolutely obsessed with this place and come here often. I've come with them twice so far. I got the wagyu pho the first time and it was okay. Definitely not my go to dish here but the samgyetang was so good. I love how there is quail eggs as a side dish and it's also included in the free refills. My mom and I go crazy on them. It can definitely can pretty busy. There's a parking lot but it's dedicated to valet and there's also street parking. Unfortunately, I had already dumped the rice into the soup before realizing it, so I had to throw away the entire meal (both the soup and the rice). Mistakes happen, but their reaction was absolutely unacceptable. When I called to complain, they were incredibly dismissive and acted like serving rotten food was 'no big deal.' They offered zero apology and simply said, 'We'll give you one extra bowl of rice next time.' Are you kidding me? This is a serious health hazard. I had Dasom 3x. The 1st time was great. Dined in, got spicy Galbi Jim (braised short rib) and galibtang (short rib soup). The portions, flavors, and pricing were great and on point. The 2nd time, I ordered to go and got spicy galbi jim again plus spicy galbi tang. The galbijim was still good but spicy galbi tang lacked flavor (almost like it had been watered down), 3rd time I got spicy galbi jim after a few months and they increased the price prob by about $10 or so and quality/portion deteriorated. Slightly less portion, ok fine, but flavor was different. The color used to be brigher red, this time it was like soy sauce darker and was probably 65-75% sauce (previously you could see all the meat, noodles, more than enough for 2 people). This time noodles prob just enough for 1 person. The worse thing was the sauce was SOOOOO sweet. I had to wash everything off with water. They also provide some of their staple items frozen at a cheaper price. Chef Kang is a famous Chef and brand from Korea, you can find his frozen food (probably same exact thing from Dasom) in the nearby Zion Market too. I don't know if he tends to make things sweeter but when got his braised oxtail from Zion, it was also like eating candy. This place has free parking in front (although it's often packed). Probably won't be returning since they raised the price while quality/quantity deteroriated. It's still cheaper than Sung non dan but the amount of meat in the galbi jim prob thus equates the lower price by a bit. read more

I came over because Tsukiyo had an hour wait. The service was good and the food came out at a decent pace. I used to get this place to go all the time, and ate here maybe once. The old ladies were cute and they did their best. I left them a 20% tip, but what really irritated me is that they charge for their to go containers. Even after I paid the bill they wanted me to pay an extra $2 in cash for 4 to go containers. It is policies like this where the food came out to $170 with tip and they still want the additional $2. Not sure if I'll be back due to this. If they're so pressed on this, they should just raise their prices to include this. read more

Decided to try this place for lunch. It's located in a strip mall on Wilton and Wilshire. Valet parking is available for $3 on Wilshire. When arriving, the restaurant was packed so we figured it would be delicious. When we sat down, we waited almost 10 minutes with no server. After flagging someone down, we finally ordered. The lunch rush had even died down shortly after we got seated. We decided to try their army stew. After waiting another 40 minutes, we asked the server where our food was. They had explained that there was a large to-go order, hence the delay. I wouldn't have really minded, but not giving us a heads up was one strike. After getting the food, the color of the stew seemed really off. Upon noticing a lot, and I mean a lot of mushrooms, I was really confused as army stew normally doesn't have mushrooms. Putting this aside for now, I decided to try the broth. This was the most flavorless army stew I have ever tried. After waiting and having to eat this bland stew, it really was a disappointing experience. I probably think their other stews must be somewhat decent based on the lunch rush I saw. However, from their terrible service to the bland food, I don't think I'd consider coming back here to even retry their other dishes. read more

While I came with a special mission to have seaweed soup 미역국 on my birthday for the first time ever, I didn't tell them it was my birthday but they treated me like a special friend from the minute I walked in. The waiter was an amazing host and immediately offered me tea when I arrived to warm up from the chill outside. The interior of the restaurant with the wood tables, the interior colors of the decor, and with the kitchen straight ahead, felt warm and welcoming. Even though there are TVs showing BTS concerts and cooking shows, the rest of the restaurant still feels in level up from just a casual dining experience- as did the service. The soup was such a rich broth with little bits of beef and lots of seaweed. It doesn't taste like seaweed, it tastes like a homemade soup made with care! Another waitress asked me if I wanted rice to go with the soup and I gladly accepted - alternating bites with or without the rice dipped in the broth and piled with seaweed and beef. The banchan (side dishes) was amazing with crunchy and creamy textures that complemented the soup! I asked the waiter what he recommended I drink with the soup and he suggested the Maekgoli which was amazing and the carbonation lightened up the rest of my meal.
