I cannot believe that I haven't found this place sooner. I spend more money at KFC or Popeyes for low quality food and poor customer service. The food here tasted great and customer service was exceptional. Usually those other chains charge me to substitute fries, but Dave's does it for free. And the service was great. Friendly. Answered my questions without sounding like they hated their job or annoyed. That's what I appreciate.

Highly recommend and will be dropping Popeyes and KFC for chicken sandwiches and tenders here from now on. Store was clean and nicely decorated.

Jessica and was awesome - she explained the menu clearly and recommended trying the one tender and one slider box to see what I like. Service the second time around was more of a miss because I couldn't hear half of what the associate - didn't catch his name - was saying. The meal also took a while to prepare, but it was tasty so I won't be too salty about it! Dave's seems to be a popular hangout spot for students from Cal State Long Beach. They're open till 2am (although I couldn't tell you if it's busy then, haha). There isn't a drive-thru at this particular Dave's. In terms of accessibility, watch your step since there's a small stair in front of the door. The restaurant is located in the corner of the strip mall with a Cava, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and In-N-Out, which means parking can get a little hectic if you're there at mealtime. When you come, just be mindful that the aisles go one way!

I went to a Lorde concert the other day, and as I was leaving and the street vendors were trying to sell me hot dogs, all I could think about was Dave's. So of course my friend and I found one on the way home and luckily it was open late and not crowded! It was a perfect setting for a late night snack and concert debrief. My only complaint was that this location doesn't have their cauliflower options. I'm not a vegetarian but sometimes I like to get those if I'm feeling something lighter. I ended up getting the two tender combo with medium spice and replaced the fries with mac and cheese. The medium spice is honestly not very spicy, but I feel like the next level up is too much for me at 1am in the morning. I love Dave's seasoning on their chicken because it is really flavorful! The mac and cheese was cheesy and creamy and also balanced out the spices well. It was the perfect way to end the night!

Had to come here for there not chicken. They have the cauliflower options back again. I just had to try. I have had many different varieties of this and wanted to try Dave's. Cool ambiance with all the graffiti inside and 60s music. Great service but again expensive in comparison to what you get.

Dave's comes in behind Cluck n Blaze and Jaybird's for me. I got it in medium, which wasn't hot at all (usually much hotter at other places), so it ended up tasting like a plain chicken sandwich. Service was horrible too. They hadn't seen my online order by the time I arrived. It took a minute for the server and manager to figure it out. Once they did, neither turned around to acknowledge the mistake and extra wait. They pressed a few buttons and then went about their business. Maybe it was a bad day. I'll try again and order it a little spicier, and update this review.

4 customers in the store and the wait is 20+ minutes. Slow service, employees seem lost and need help. I'm not willing to wait for fast food this long. To spend $26 and wait this long, I'd go somewhere else.

It was good, not great. The environment is super fun and upbeat! My daughter loved all the fun colors and random chickens. The employee at the register was really nice and helpful! She helped us navigate the menu and gave recommendations. We ordered some sliders, fries, and Mac n cheese. Nothing was a wow for us. Like I said, good not great. Would we go back? Maybe if we were hungry and near a location.

Food is delicious.. the wait time can be a bit excessive. But overall worth the wait. They stay open late so if you're looking for something to eat in the area this is a good spot! The ambiance is typical fast food vibes . But I enjoy it. I wouldn't recommend their drinks.. 3/3 times I got their drinks... they were flat.

I went to Dave's Hot Chicken for the Free Slider deal!! I got the Single Slider with medium spice level. I have gotten a Single Slider with mild spice level, and I thought it didn't taste spicy at all. The medium spice level gives a little kick, but I think next time I'll go for a heavier spice level. Cheese is extra so I chose not to add cheese to my Single Slider. I do recommend trying the Dave's Sauce. The restaurant was really clean despite the amount of people walking in and out, sitting down, and standing in line. There's tons of seating, and there's two kiosks near the register that you can order from. The employees were all kind despite the busyness from the Free Slider deal on October 24 for Drake's birthday. Alicia H. took my order at the register, and she was super sweet! She also had me scan a QR code that took me to the Dave's Hot Chicken Google page to make a review. Jessica gave me my order, along with Dave's Sauce. She was very energetic and kind! The service was also super fast! I would come here again when it's not during a big deal because I am intrigued on how spicy the chicken can really get!

Dave's hot chicken has become my fiancé and I's new obsession! I've been getting the slider meal with the hot spice level and the seasoning is so delicious! And partnered with the sauce it's too good! My fiancé, who is not a fan of spice, gets the same just no spice and he loves it just the same! I really like this location too, good parking/plaza, spacious eating area with a good amount of seating, & the customer service was very good too! my only complaint is I wish there were more locations & some closer to where I stay!! Honestly I think the negative reviews are from people who either, don't eat a lot of chicken or have something against this place and aren't true Yelp'rs. My take...compared to Cane's, the quality of chicken here is much better and their tenders are double the size. Also, the French fries at Dave's have more flavor. Seems like more bang for your buck. The mild is perfect if you want just a little spice, but I guess that's subjective. I could have used 2 sauces and the white bread below the tenders was kind of odd, but not deal a breaker for me. Esme helped me out during my visit and she was very helpful, informative, and had a big smile on her face. The inside was clean and had plenty of tables with cool graffiti on the walls. I would recommend and will definitely be back! read more

The food is great, I mean it's chicken, can't go wrong. Where you do go wrong is with rude workers. I get to the register and the BIG girl working there says to me "what you want?" Umm hellla rude. Then proceeded to flash me dirty looks and try to talk about me to her coworkers. Now the coworkers are super nice and completely made me comfortable and made me laugh. Wasn't impressed. The food was OK, and the service was good and friendly. It just didn't live up to all the hype I ordered mild and it was right on the verge of being too spicy for me, but admittedly I have a low level of heat tolerance. First time here. I was overly excited to try this place. Everything was going well, the man that took our order was nice and helpful. But, I opened my food and there was a small black hair right on top. I instantly got disgusted and had my husband take it back to them. I should of snapped a picture but in the moment I didn't think of doing so. They "replaced" it but my gut told me it was the same one we had gave them. Been here a few times, but even tonight on one of the more stressful nights of Long Beach, during the stroll and savor, Joseph was top tier one of the best employees I've come into contact with here. He hand delivered my food to me, and also helped me choose right heat level, and what I want to order. He was very courteous and respectful! On my first visit I decided to go with the reaper level since I have a pretty high spice tolerance and it definitely was spicy! I don't recommend it if you can't handle spice because you will suffer later on (my stomach was burning all night). The next day I went with extra hot and it wasn't spicy to me at all maybe because my palate was expecting the reaper level. Loved the location in second street, have tried to give this location a few chances but they literally always get my order completely wrong every single time I've tried going here. Dave's Hot Chicken was created by best friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. Dave, a chef trained in Thomas Keller's (French Laundry) organization set out to create the perfect Hot Chicken by searching, tasting, and frying. The four friends scrounged up $900 to put a tiny stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. The menu was simple, and chicken was the star. And what chicken it is! Sourced and prepared to be the juiciest and most tender imaginable with each piece topped with Dave's own mix of spices ranging from "Mild" to "The Reaper". Arman created Instagram buzz and the lines began to grow. Two nights later, Eater/LA showed up to see what the fuss was about. The next morning's headline read "East Hollywood's Late Night Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind". Almost instantly, the lines stretched around the block. A year later, the boys had the money to open a shop in a hip strip-mall with de_cor by local street artists, where the crowds continued to grow with wait-times of an hour and more. From there, the incredibly craveable "Hot and Spicy" varieties have created a cult following with rave reviews across the U.S. and Canada.

In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept -- take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw -- they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long. After 6 months of running the pop-up with long lines, the team took the plunge and opened their first physical store in January 2018 in a sleepy strip center in East Hollywood. Demand for their crave-able hot chicken exceeded all expectations and sales have grown every month since opening with consistently long lines throughout the day.

That's especially true late at night, since they're open until almost 4 AM and it draws a big crowd of post-club twenty-somethings and students from CSULB and Long Beach City College. I ordered Pad Thai, not chicken with noodle garnish. The Pad See Ew was also noticeably salty. Now you're probably wondering why I'm giving this place a low rating if most of the food was decent. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the meal. When it was time to pay, my aunt was figuring out how much everyone needed to Zelle her since the restaurant only allows a maximum of two cards for split payments. While we were trying to do the math, our waiter stood over us watching the payment screen like he was supervising a final exam. He was clearly waiting to make sure a tip was entered. My aunt politely asked him to give us a minute, and thankfully he walked away. Maybe when you see a family actively calculating a bill, that's your cue to...actually give them a minute. Keep in mind we also tipped 20% despite all this. Throughout the meal, he did stop by our table, but it rarely felt like he was checking in to make sure everything was okay. If anything I felt rushed. He also gave off that "customer service smile" that disappears the moment you stop looking. The cherry on top for me happened as we were leaving. We had been sitting on the outdoor patio talking for a bit after paying, which is pretty normal for my family. Before leaving, I went inside to ask where the restroom was. The guy and girl behind the bar looked at each other, laughed, and then asked if I was a paying customer. Keep in mind, I was literally holding a to-go bag with leftovers from the restaurant. I responded, "Yeah, I just finished eating," while holding up the bag that made it painfully obvious. Only then did they tell me where the restroom was. Nothing says "valued customer" quite like being interrogated about whether you actually ate there while carrying your leftovers. It's unfortunate because the food had some highlights, and the restaurant itself has a cute atmosphere. But the service made it feel like customers are viewed more as transactions than guests. Between hovering over us during payment and questioning whether I even belonged there after spending money, I left feeling more unwelcomed than satisfied. I'll happily support a restaurant that appreciates my business instead of making me feel like I have to prove I earned the right to use the restroom after paying for dinner.

The marinara sauce on the pepperoni pizza was so fresh! Loved the cold Caesar salad- perfect amount of dressing. We're a ranch family and our server so kindly bright us a "sauce flight" including the pesto and spicy ranch. Also added the hot honey to the pepperoni/mushroom pizza- chef's kiss! The menu seems pared down but there are many options for customized pizza. We usually have had to wait a few minutes for seats especially around the 7pm mark when everyone seems to be getting their dinner. Indoor booths, tables and a banquette can accommodate a lot of group sizes, also has outdoor seating. Appetizers all good : squeaks or cheese curds either your choice of sauce, chicken wings (8 to a plate) your choice of buffalo or plain plus dipping sauce- we usually get ranch. Prior to the recent scare about contamination of lettuce, we would share a regular plate of Caesar salad. We chose to have Brussels sprouts instead- a very nicely toasted plate with nuts and balsamic vinegar dressing. We have been here a few times now, service is usually attentive and friendly. Have had the cheese, pepperoni and supreme classic pizzas - all come out piping hot from the oven, lots of toppings are quite delicious. Also recommend the fancy cheese pizza , sausage and chard and most recently prosciutto with peaches. There is a regularly changing menu for frozen custard , if you leave room for it! You can pay your bill by scanning a QR code on the receipt, another Convenience. Clean and very cold restrooms , just right for hiding out from the noise and hot kitchen.

I came today around 6pm and the person who took my order was a black stubby male, I am a female and i ordered for 5 people and he didn't ask me not once if i wanted sauce or anything... Then he took the person after me and he asked them if they wanted sauce because they tipped 2 dollars like what?? I'm not going to tip anybody just for writing down my meal and it's crazy that he would even expect a tip in the first place. It's different if they were my server and they were bringing me out my food, drinks, etc but all he is doing is being a cashier!!! Then when my food came and i asked for sauce he has the nerve to only give me one dave's sauce and one honey packet!!! Mine you my meal was over 50$ like what???? Dave's is already 20$ for a meal and he expects a tip??? I ended up just leaving and making my own dave's sauce because I didn't have the energy to tell him "Seriously??? one dave's sauce for a $80 order?" Im going to be 100% real with y'all. Don't listen to any of the whiny, mayonnaise-loving, uncultured reviews about the spice level on Yelp. If you like spicy food and you have seasonings in your kitchen other than salt and pepper this is the spot for you. The service is dope and the chicken is cooked to perfection. I could hear the chef (Daniel) in the back doing his best Gordon Ramsey impression. The vibes were very friendly and relaxed. I don't know how much more these spoiled brats on 2nd street want. Dave's Hot Chicken never disappoints! Despite the place being packed, the staff were friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. The atmosphere inside was loud, but that's to be expected given how popular this spot is. I went with the Medium heat tenders, and they were absolutely amazing--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with the perfect kick of spice. The fries were equally impressive, crispy and seasoned to perfection. And the pickles? Hands down the best I've ever had, adding a refreshing crunch to every bite. New locations always have kinks to iron out so I don't take most of the bad reviews to heart. A few of the complaints are just from people who aren't able to handle seasoning. Not surprising in Belmont shore though. As for "rude" service, I don't expect a single service worker to be perfect & theatrically kind in a world where self-centered entitled rich boomers & nepo babies treat them like aren't human beings. The mild chicken sliders were perfect level of spicy for me also fresh and juicy. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. The service was great and all the workers were super chill. excellent flavors. Hot cheese on side is a must to dip fries n drizzle on chicken I just wish they'd fill the cheese cups all the way instead of half. Great opening so happy I was able to make it.1000/10 flavors definitely favorite chicken shop. Great area walked down to the beach for a picnic with Dave's. Hard to find parking but that's 2nd street for you. Everyone working was friendly ensuring it was a good time. Music volume was perfect to enjoy and have conversations. Definitely going to need to expand not a lot of chairs for the amount of foot traffic in the area. Expect to wait for good quality food. read more

Yes, finally a DHC in Long Beach!!! First of all, the food here is amazing. Got the Tenders, and they were hot, juicy and delicious. Pro tip: get the hot heat level and then add some honey on it...so dang good! The location is great, a lot of open space to view the sights outside and the music was perfect! The service was top notch! Everyone was courteous, friendly and helpful. Special shout out to an employee named Deon! His service was exceptional! High level customer service, and it's appreciated. The chicken is fantastic. I usually get Hot spice level and it's perfect for me who was raised in South Indian food. If you've got the average American palate maybe go for Medium or Mild, but if you love heat then Hot and Extra Hot are great flavor without burning your tongue to death. Ayanna was my server last time and she was awesome, fast and friendly service and she checked if I wanted sauces before I left. The space itself is super cute, bright colors, open air seating and a great location on 2nd street. Good music too. read more

I've been waiting to try this place for a long time so I was excited to see a location open up on 2nd street in Long Beach! Customer service was top notch. Joy ran me through the menu so I could make the right decision since it was my first time. Tough crowd with the reviews I just read. You guys should stick to Chick fil a if it's too hot for ya. I like Julie asks US to to do the link to give them a second chance and it's just the same survey I did from my receipt and even after just going ahead and doing it AGAIN. I still haven't heard anything in response. Filled out three separate surveys on how bad the service was from the link on my recipes only heard back once and it apologized for something I didn't even have an issue about meaning they aren't even paying attention to our complaints or issues. read more

This place is so good, I'm so glad they came closer to csulb. I'm going to be here every night, Reanna is always great! Update: Just ate here for the second time and there was a huge fight that almost made its way into the restaurant. As soon as the staff noticed they sprang into action and closed the doors and blocked the inebriated imbeciles from making their way inside. Joy is the sweetest ever. She attended my friend and i with the best customer service ever (ive done a job with customer service too) and she exceeded expectations and went above and beyond to make sure that we had a good time eating at the actual location. You need security with the amount of rowdy drunk ppl at this location. Staff is nice food is great but literally there are ppl puking and fighting all over the place. Dave's had me screaming, hollering, and moaning in the parking lot with my pants off. the honey pack got me moving different. with every bite i took out of my medium sized and medium heat tender, i felt the glaze dripping down the sides of my cheeks. the sauce is byssin too, it's so creamy and rich, it made me feel all warm and tingly on the inside. tldr-this chicken so damn good y'all read more
