We love this place so much it's becoming a weekly stop! Everything we've ordered has been delicious from the Shepard's pie and Guinness stew to the boneless wings (best ever!) and pretzel roll sliders. It's a pub and can get loud but it's worth it for the great food at reasonable prices. Their menu is pretty varied beyond regular pub food so come ready to make some tough decisions. I've been here a few times now since moving to McKinney and I thought I'd leave a review. Overall this bar is pretty good, even though I'm "only" giving it 3 stars, I feel there is potential to received a higher rating based on a few things. The bar itself is pretty cool, there's a jukebox, a golf video game, and one night I was here there was a live band that rocked! They had a young lady singing and a guy playing a green PRS guitar (he SHREDS). They did a lot of Heart covers and other stuff, they are good. The bartenders have all been friendly and cool, and the beers all have been cold and tasty. One thing I noticed, I ordered a Guinness at one time and it was not double-poured, aka a proper Guinness pour. I hate to knock off a star for that, but that's an easy fix! I also haven't eaten here yet, but I would be inclined to try the food during a future visit. I usually drink here while my wife is grocery shopping next door, so I'll definitely be back. I've been a customer for almost 8 yrs. They have awesome food. My complaint is the Fries!! The last few times I've sent them back and gotten perfect fries. This afternoon I was tired of complaining. My fries were soggy, limp, cool to the touch as if they were on someone else's plate. I picked a few of the better ones. That's the only reason you got 3 stars. Having a limited diet I count on good fries as I don't have many food options. Cheese on my burger was over loaded. I didn't have many ingredients so to have you put scads of cheese on my burger was disappointing. Our server was a bit gruff, blonde, glasses and athletic build. She was off putting and didn't check our table until we were ready to go. No water refills, no questions about how we liked our meal and she didn't thank us. Very cold to us. Please improve your fries. Having them grease laden is disgusting at best. Not sure if we will be back. That makes me sad. read more

Unfortunately I have to give this place a 2 for the horrible service. The food was good though.Our first time here. After we got our food, Our server was no where to be seen. Didn't check on us at all. We waited 45 minutes for him to appear and being us our bill. We asked him 3 times for boxes. We gave him a $50 bill and asked for change, it took him 20 minutes to come back and he gave us $10 back??? The only thing we could think of is maybe because our bill was $40.37?? But still, we only asked for change, we didn't include the bill. He whipped the rest out of his pocket and seemed confused. Okay... so I read the reviews and do not take them too seriously... so here I go! Contrary to many... our service was EXCELLENT! Seated with a smile by the hostess, our server (sorry I did not get her name) was on top of everything from drinks to the check FOOD: My reuben was one of the best I ever had! And I'm NY Irish by the way 2nd generation from the Isle itself. I had deconstructed reuben prepared by request as I cannot eat wheat products. The chef prepared it perfectly... nice plate presentation as well. The beef was lean and cooked just right! Sauerkraut was delicious as well! Dressing wonderful. It was a good value, and the main entrees themselves were good; however, the rest ranged from bad to just ok. My wife's salmon was supposed to come with a lemon, butter, caper sauce according to the menu. The server denied it then acknowledged she was wrong, but who knows how often it gets made this way. The basmati rice just wasn't our thing, but that could be personal preference. The onion rings also had way too much going on seasoning-wise. I wasn't a fan. Last but not least, the service was very slow. All that said, the ribeye and salmon (after we got the sauce) themselves were tasty and a good value. We'll give it another shot. read more

I'm normally not a big fan of Irish food but must say, this restaurant changed my mind, and I will definitely be back. The Shepard's pie was off the charts good. I also must say too, the salad served with my meal was extremely fresh and delicious. I'm still not sure what could have made the salad as good as it was but the mix of fresh vegetables was very memorable to me because everyone at my table thought the same thing. Coors banquet pint with a side of glass anyone? Stopped in for a few beers. As I finished the 2nd pint, a quarter sized piece of glass was in the last swig. Lucky for me I realized quickly it wasn't cold (ice) and spit it out. Sure enough, it was a large piece of glass from an obviously broken pint glass that broke in the cooler. They failed to follow basic protocols to empty the cooler, wash the glasses and clean the cooler. Bartender was nice enough and got the Manager who was disinterested in the issue. He gave a half hearted apology and I paid (and tipped) for my experience. I told the Manager I would be in touch should I have internal bleeding and parted ways for what will be my last trip to that place. The food is so very good. I sit in the main dining area most of the time. The issue is the bartenders. I waited and waited to be checked on (empty glass in plain view) they acted bothered that I needed a drink and dont talk. Suggestion, be more welcoming and friendly. Check on customers more. I went on Saturday (08-05-2017) night when there was a live band, the noise pollution was bad. I'm aware a live band is going to be loud, I've been to many bars that had concerts going on and it was fine, I knew what I was in for. The decibel level, for this small a venue, was WAYYYYYY too loud. Sitting next to my date, we couldn't even communicate with each other. We were like two deaf old farts just constantly yelling "huh"? And looking like retards. I got the shepherds pie. Meh. It's got nothing on Mash'd. Wasn't anything to write home about, insides tasted like powder gravy mix, the top tasted like styrofoam. Beer was priced in the middle. Crowd looked like barflys and actual families that drug their kids out with them to get tanked. This is the kind of place I'd take a Tinder date so that no one would notice or see me that I knew.... it's just old, beat up, boring, and loud. This is a fun little dive. My sister and I stopped in here this afternoon for a quick lunch and the food was pretty good! They also have a huge bar that looked like it had a decent selection of draft beer. We did not have any drinks because my sister doesnt drink, but i will for sure be back with my husband! I had a gyro with sweet potatoes fries and it was pretty tastey. My sister had some kind of mushroom and steak pastry that was pretty good as well. So sad . . . Delaneys used to be our favorite restaurant - and all the more so because it was close to home. A true neighborhood treasure with great food, good service and a comfortable clientele of regulars. Unfortunately, since the new owners took over, the place has slid steadily downhill. We've tried to hang on, but tonight was the last straw. First of all the restaurant is no longer kept clean. You can smell it when you come in, feel it when you seat yourself at a sticky table and see it when you look at the dusty counter tops. The service has gotten really poor. We sat for 10 minutes with no contact whatsoever. Just as we were ready to walk out, a sullen looking server wandered by and we were able to put in an order (from memory - we never got a menu - or silverware). While we were waiting for our food we saw two other groups give up and leave. When the food finally arrived it was a shadow of the old days. Flat, flavorless burgers - limp, greasy fries. I'll spare you the details - suffice it to say we will not be going back. Ever. Such a shame that someone would spend money to by a successful restaurant and then run it into the ground. And all the more so because it truly was the kind of place you loved to go. Delaneys will limp on for awhile longer with its new clientele of pretend bikers and after work partiers who come mainly for the drink specials, but it will fold soon. The heart has gone out of the place - its just a matter of time. Do yourself a favor and wait for the next restaurant to take the space. read more

The food is hit and miss, sadly the best breakfast in Mckinnney its not, cold eggs and country fried steak only warm from the gravy made this experience the last I'll have here for food. But be warned if you drink here the bartenders are illiterate or dont care, ordered a non spicy bloody mary, it burned the throats of all that drank it. The food is decent, although I honestly haven't tried much here. The menu is a heart attack waiting to happen. I think I'll continue to avoid clogging my arteries with 72 pounds of fried fatness. They DO serve Franconia beer...which is deserving of 5 stars :) Karaoke nights are generally entertaining...but I think it has more to do with the people I go with, and less to do with the actual bar. And I say bar, not pub, because in spite of its misleading "Irish Pub" label...this place is barely better than a Chili's. Oddly enough, the service is much better on the weekends when the band plays and it's packed full. This is when the managers show their face and seem to care about your service. During brunch or weeknights the service is rude, slow and more than once I've had the feeling like I'm intruding on their social time with each other. They don't have the right to be called a pub. Decided to drive up to McKenney to put another bar on my map and I must say, I wasn't disappointed. We walked in and I saw a "wait to be seated sign" but wanted to sit at the bar, Finding no space, grabbed a nearby table and after a short while a server came up and asked us what we wanted. Well, I wanted a beer menu since I saw they had 53 beers on tap. She pointed me to the beer menu and I asked for some time to look through. Looked through and was hopeful of something a bit different. They did have a fair selection of British and Irish beers on tap, plus some of the local brews too. Another server came to the table shortly afterwards and said he'd be looking after us. Darn that bait and switch ;) anyway. I went for the Oatmeal Stout and my wife has some pecan beer. It seemed to take a while for the beer to arrive so I thought i'd look around. There's TVs all over for easy viewing, a few booths to the right, tables right in front and the bar to the left, further down the bar is where the band was setup and playing. I'm really surprised that the music didn't drown out the conversations but it seemed to be kept in that one area. It's a nice touch so people who want to listen to sit on that side and get the full effect. The atmosphere was casual and relaxes and it seems like there were quite a few regulars, and probably locals. After a 2nd beer we got our check. The beers, while not cheap, were not overly priced. We both left feeling satisfied. From some of the reviews I've read, I'd like to come back and give the food a try and see what it's like on a different night. Overall, friendly staff, found a good selection beer. First beers could have arrived a little quicker but it wasn't a major delay. Comfortable and relaxed. We trekked up to McKinney today for fun trying something new on a recommendation of a friend. We erred in not confirming exact location, so sorta kinda went out of the way by travelling up 75 to McKinney, taking the Eldorado Parkway exit, West. North on 75 was travelling too far East of the restaurant. The faster more efficient way from the Addison area would have been taking the tollway, then turning East on Eldorado Parkway No problem, we saw lots of scenery and areas not visited before. (Saw some other spots along the way to try in the future) This restaurant is a smaller space than imagined after reviewing the web site, and is a definite "'neighborhood place" with lots of regulars. Nice first impression (love 'hood restaurants) At 1510 in the afternoon, it was moderately busy. Diverse mix of patrons; singles, couples and families. Dark woods, high top tables & chairs in the center, wooden booths on the right of the entrance and rather large long bar on the left. Okay, I am gonna like this place. The menu is quite extensive, from several apps, soups and salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, hoagies, croissants, pitas, and entrees (Some looked so good; several chicken options, beef, shepherd's pie, Guinness stew, corned beef & cabbage, fish & chips, pasta, etc., so tempting!) So many to choose from. We saw delicious looking salads, burgers, etc. being served. All tempting. We both opted for the cold Tuna Pasta Salad; (on this hot 103 degree day), a wonderful blending of flavors with finely diced (and I mean, REALLY finely diced) celery, onions, cabbage and jalapenos tossed with a smooth dill ranch dressing over penne pasta, topped with lots of freshly grated Parmesan Cheese, and served with beautifully grilled pita slices that were amazingly soft and buttery, The serving was HUGE,; IMO, enough for 3 servings. I'll have lunch tomorrow and again the next day. Even my friend, who is a big eater couldn't finish his generous portion. Side note - there were probably over 30+ draft beers available. Friend had a Miller Lite (yuk!) and I reallllly enjoyed a Stella. Both served in an ice cold glass with lime. YUM !! Service by Chris was "cute". He acknowledged right off that he had only been there for about a week, but any questions about the menu he couldn't answer, he would find out! And, he did! Chris has a great customer service attitude and was very attentive and helpful. A very young man (maybe a college student?) who deserves KUDOS for trying so hard. He added to our great experience. Also, observed on the menu they have Brunch on Saturday and Sunday 9am-2pm, and Mon-Fri 9a-11a. How nice that would be. Lots of choices, some most unusual...typical "Irish Pub" items? One dish that caught my eye - Fried Green Tomatoes on top of 2 Sausage Patties, with 2 eggs (fried or scrambled) and 2 pieces of Toast. Sounds Yummy !!! Mimosas and Bloody Mary's for $3.50 at brunch. We live in the neighborhood and consider Delaney's to be our "default" spot for a quick supper when we're not in the mood to cook. It's not fancy, it's not perfect, but we've always found the food and service to be "good enough" for what we're looking for. My husband and kids are big fans of the wings and chicken fingers, and I usually stick to fish & chips or the very nicely-prepared swiss burger. The french fries are properly cooked in hot-enough oil (so that they're crispy, vs. limp or greasy), and then dusted with black pepper for nice flavor, and the ranch and blue cheese dressings that accompany so many of the appetizers as well as the wings & chicken fingers are freshly-prepared onsite and are of very good quality. I once made the mistake of ordering an "old fashioned" here, and I ended up having to tell the bartender how to prepare it, which took away some of the "fun" of ordering a drink - at which point my daughter reminded me that "this is a sports bar place, so just stick to beer or wine or a Jack & Coke, and you'll be fine. Don't be so fancy." And she was right. Yes, service can sometimes be slow, and yes, some of the servers seem better-trained (or just generally have a better attitude) than others - but we still appreciate this place for what it is: a neighborhood hang-out spot with few pretenses, generally good food, enough TV screens to keep track of all the games at once, and decent drinks as long as you don't try to get too "fancy." read more

Last night was my first time at Delaney's. My wife and I came as friends of the band playing that evening, Three to Party. My first impression was that the place was a bit larger than I was expecting. Lots of places to sit. They had booths in the dining area....we like booths. I could hear the band playing when I walked in, but they were around the corner in another room. I thought it was nice that they have a large separate dining area from where the band plays. That way, if you don't want your conversation drowned out by music, you have that option, or if you want to be right in front of the band, you can do that as well. We had wings and drinks, and the wings tasted great! Wait staff was attentive, so I really have no complaints. The restrooms were clean and spacious. The band was highly entertaining. Quite honestly, it was one of the better experiences I've had recently when going out to check out live music and grab a bite to eat. We really enjoyed our evening, and would not hesitate to spend another Saturday evening there. read more
