The service while friendly was far from what I would call professional at all. Very care free. Almost very informal. The prices when we looked over the menu I thought for what they offered were high. There were no sides with most of the meals. But, we did decide to give them a chance and order a snack. My wife ordered the pretzel. For the price, this was small. It was very. It was not soft like a German pretzel. It was very dense. I an willing to bet it is store bought. The only good part my wife said was the German mustard. I ordered the Bratkartoffeln, traditional potatoes with bacon and onions. What can I say about this dish? They were burnt and tasted so. The cut of the potatoes were of so different sizes that the cook of the potatoes were from raw to burnt. The bacon was burnt to almost black. You almost could not find the onions. To hide the burnt taste, I used the German mustard that came with my wife's dish. When I go to a German restaurant, I look for German dishes. The menu I saw was not German at all. I can honestly say that my wife and I will not come back to this establishment again and we will not recommend it to any of our friends. We opted for this as we were pulling a trailer, and the parking lot is bigger, and we didn't wanna find a camping spot then come back to eat, or I would have literally starved. Upon entering the dining room (no-one was eating inside there) it felt much more like a bar atmosphere, which put me off a little. I'd previously assumed it was a restaurant that sold alcohol, but it seems more of a bar that sells food to me now. Anyway, we chose to eat outside. Selected a table, chose what we wanted - Captain's Basket for me, Reuben for him. I asked for Coke no ice, and server told me "oh we don't have any ice anyway" which, frankly doesn't bother me as I'm English. In England, ice does not come as default. The coke can was chilled from the fridge though. Baskets came out quite quickly. There were 2 small pieces of breaded rockfish, 1 was nicely cooked, the thinner piece was a little over. Maybe 7 or 8 battered shrimp - definitely on the bouncy, chewy side, and the batter a little greasy, as though the oil hadn't quite got up to temperature, and they'd been in there a little long. The Crab Cake was divine though, I'd have eaten a whole plate of them. It was big, round, breaded, with a sauce drizzled over the top.mi love crab cakes, and this was my favourite I've had in a long while. My tartare sauce portion cup wasn't very full, and man I absolutely love the stuff, I like fries dipped in tartare, but after I'd eaten the shrimp, there was barely a smear left. Fries were good and crispy, and you know how much I love my fries. The music was far enough away that it did not interrupt our conversation, and provided a pleasant backdrop, on a sunny evening, however there was a woman sitting on the table to the right of me, who seemed to think that everyone wanted to hear the details of her life, and talked loud enough to interrupt our meal. That is obviously not the fault of Creekbend Cafe, and does not affect my rating of them. She was just annoying and obnoxiously loud. I would come back, I'd probably try something else but on the whole it was a pleasant enough meal, in a pretty setting.

So a decent amount of things to choose from along with wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks galore. My wife and I shared the goat cheese salad which we thought was really fresh, good, and hearty enough for the two of us...especially when I added the grilled cheese sandwich...a very slightly upscale version of a basic grilled cheese with American cheese...no bells or whistles here, possibly a tiny bit saltier than I would have liked it to be...but not over-buttered...it was almost like it was very lightly grilled or baked even so, despite it being a grilled cheese, it felt a little bit healthier. You order at the counter and they bring you your food into the dining area which had plenty of comfortable places to sit. However, the sides are quite expensive and billed as "family style" but they are a single serving really. The exception was the Parker House rolls which I think came out 5 to an order. They were pulled apart and the sides of the rolls were dry, as if they had been plated up and set under a heat lamp for too long. The risotto was prepared incorrectly. It was mushy with no hint of the classic al dente. I think if they can't take the time to cook that dish correctly, they should consider taking it off the menu as it is a marker for a good meal in my opinion. The wedge salad was pretty standard fare, with a couple of heirloom tomato slices that were also mushy (although, I can forgive that given where we live as the lettuce was crisp and nice) The other side we ordered was a special, fiddlehead ferns, served braised. They were tasty, and the best non steak item we had, but a small portion and, I think $23, which seemed quite expensive.
