I wanted to wait a few months after buying my car before giving this review. The process itself was relatively straightforward. Alex let me test drive the car around the block and let me get on the highway by myself, and I didn't feel like he was worried about me driving the car or anything. I got to spend as much time with the car as I wanted, and he didn't hover or anything like that. Ultimately I decided to enter into negotiations. Alex was trying to close the sale pretty aggressively throughout, but this was my first time buying a car so I was a bit hesitant about getting screwed. Alex was patient with me and was willing to slow down and discuss the different ways that companies value the car. I had done some local browsing and the car he was offering was a fair market price for the Bay Area, yet I was still able to get him to knock a little off of it by going to kelly blue book together and looking up the estimated value of the car. What I appreciated was that he had a partner that does finance offers with him, but I already had my own financing through my credit union, and once I told him my interest rate he told me to stick with my current financing. He didn't try to get me to go with his guys. The only thing I wish I had done was bring a mechanic with me, since Diamond does their own inspections and he implied he wasn't ok with me taking it elsewhere to get inspected. After purchasing the car I noticed some scratches, little dents, stains here and there, which is fine, I knew I wasn't getting a brand new car, but I think I could've had a bit more leverage to lower the price if I had a mechanic who could estimate the change in value due to the cosmetic updates needed. Overall I would say that Alex is an excellent salesperson, which is to say he's good at closing sales and getting you not to overthink, but he's a nice and reasonable negotiator who doesn't get pushy when he feels some resistance. I would recommend buying a car from here, my car has been doing well for 6 months and I haven't had a single issue with it. Oh, one last thing I'll add is that they paid for my Lyft ride to and from the dealership, which was a nice touch. He took $40 off the price of the car to cover the cost of a lyft, which I feel also doubles as a full tank of gas. That's the only thing, was that I heard getting a full tank of gas is a nice gesture for car dealers to do for their buyers, and mine was almost empty, haha. read more

From start to finish, Alex was a stand up guy. I am from a few states away and contacted him about the car. He was up front and told me he had an appointment on the car the following day, so didn't want to waste my time. As I was very interested in the car, I offered him $500 more than his asking price to tell the other appointment it was sold. He responded by saying his word was worth more than money and felt obligated to keep his appointment. As it turned out, he called me after the appointment the following day and reported the other buyer left "having to think about it." Alex then commented how good things come to those that wait and I bought the car for list price, which was the best deal I had found to date. He completed the paperwork timely and got it to my credit union, which then cut me a check. I was unable to fly down until the following weekend, but he stuck to his word and even without a check in hand, held onto the vehicle. I flew down and he picked us up at the airport in the vehicle, so we were able to get a good feel for the car both on the interstate and in rush hour traffic. Paperwork was handled and out the door in about 15 mins. No trying to sell me anything else, just a deal done right. The vehicle is a diesel and knowing the I had a 15 hour drive ahead of me, had already filled the tank so I could be on my way. One last thing he did, he showed me that while he was detailing the car earlier in the day, he noticed the lens of one of the fog lights was cracked. Because he hadn't noticed it prior, he ordered a new lens and had it in the vehicle. He apologized for not getting it installed due to time constraints, but didn't feel right about sending the car away with a cracked lens, when that wasn't disclosed in the listing.
