I enjoy the smooth breakfast blend drip coffee, which is self serve. They always have non dairy milk options (just ask) and low glycemic sugar options to add to your coffee or tea. I love the layout as everything is easy to located and grab. This is where I first tasted Eldorado Cafe goodness before they moved into a brick and mortar. Dia's Market - where can I even start? This place is a hidden GEM! I love it so much. The first time we walked in, I fell in love and it just has grown and grown since then. The staff is just the best around; friendly, answering any questions, recommending the best options and totally "get" me and my love for all foods fantastic. The breakfast cannot be beat! The assortment of crackers, wines, cheeses - my mouth is watering just thinking about the spot! My son works at Michi, just up the street, so I try to stop in as often as I am able to. This review is for their amazing rotisserie chicken and potatoes. We order this weekly for pickup and the chicken is juicy, flavorful (lots of rosemary!), and the roasted potatoes are a perfect side (and bonus - includes sweet potatoes in the mix! Yum!!) It's $12 flat for the chicken and the potatoes and such a great deal. You may think, oh but the Costco rotisserie chicken is half the price and maybe twice the size. Oh my friend, give this chicken a try and you will never go back. Your taste buds will not allow you to. I am dairy-free and gluten-free. So, I have to read the labels very carefully. My selections were limited but there are several options for quick pick items. I went in for chocolate almond milk and prepared chicken. The prepared chicken is only available Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There was no chocolate almond milk. The prices are higher than H-E-B which is just down the street. I did pick up frozen gluten free microwave chicken and a few other items for a quick prepared lunch. The young counter lady smiled and said that next time to only choose one sample at the counter after waiting for about 3 minutes for a cashier to show up at the counter. This place is quickly becoming my go to stop as an alternate to going to the grocery store or to pick up a hot sandwich on my way to work. The staff is always very friendly and parking is easy in their lot. For a smaller store they have a great selection of staple items and specialty items that I haven't seen elsewhere. They have a produce section, prepared foods, beer, wine, spices, local brands, snacks, ethnic food/cooking sections and some prepared foods. They have consistently had all the items that I have come in to purchase and their shelves are always stocked and clean. I have tried the italian style sandwich and the roast beef sandwich. They were both amazing with fresh deli meat and the cucumber on the roast beef sandwich was a nice touch as was the olive tepenade on the italian one. The price point on them is on point for the quality and size of the sandwiches. I haven't tried the breakfast sandwiches yet but, they are available for order all day. I also came for the Independence beer tasting and sampling of their meatballs. They also have pop ups and check their website for a schedule of their events like this. It was fun and worth stopping in for. For me I don't mind paying a small bit more for items so that I don't have to go to the grocery store to deal with the nightmare of parking and then the long lines at check out. read more

Dia's Market is the best! I lived across the street from Dia's for a few years, so I've visited the store plenty of times. For a vegan like me, being able to cross the street and get staples, snacks, and desserts that fit my diet was a godsend. The selection is great, and it improves all the time; staff (and the owner I met several times in-store) took a genuine interest in which products I preferred. Speaking of staff, I've only had positive experiences with them. They've been friendly and helpful every single time. This includes everyone being respectful and responsible during the pandemic. There are great finds for everybody (just ask my friends, who ended up demanding a trip to Dia's any time they visited) and especially if you're veg*n and/or live nearby, you should absolutely check this place out. read more

I come to Dia's quite often to buy organic and local products, as it is a store as well. I now only come here for their delicious sandwiches. My favorites are the first three on the menu. One time I came in and their reuben was on special... Oh. My. God. So good! The meat is delicious and not dry or tough. The options for bread are extensive and all of the vegetables and sauces are fresh. The prices are $8 for all sandwiches, which is NOT BAD in Austin... I mean I just paid $15 at Noble Sandwich Co. and was very disappointed. So $8 for the best sandwich I've had this year, totally worth it. What is there not to love about this community spot? It is more than just a market. It's a place that brings people together in the community to hang out. They have a nice covered outdoor patio that is dog friendly and some inside seating. They have a regular schedule of events. When I recently visited they were advertising a pint night. They also have pop up chefs come occasionally. The market is small but has a nice selection of the basics. They have natural and local options. There is a small deli in the back that makes sandwiches from fresh cheese and meats. Their small wine section is also decently priced. The staff member who was working here was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I tried a local bottled cold brew coffee I hadn't seen before in the area and it was quite good. I strolled in to sate my curiosity over this colorful place and its occasionally packed and jamming porch and now I swing by at least 3 times a week on my walk home. The best description I've heard for them is that they're a "small & local brand" super market, which I think adds an extra element of delight to stopping there. You're not going to be able to do all of your grocery shopping here, but you sure will want to. Need to provide some snacks for a dinner party? Grab some charcuterie, a few pieces of fancy cheese and some chili pepper crackers and you're all set. Did you forget to snag tomatoes and balsamic vinegar for your caprese? They've got you covered. Hosting a gluten-free vegan at your barbecue? Check the freezer for some Udi's bread and then sidle over past the drinks fridge for some Field Roast sausages and slices of Chao. Having a cuddle-buddy over for a 2-person pajama party? They've got plenty of great wine and local beer which'll pair great with a frozen pizza from Bola. They have about five sandwiches on the menu, and they can also make you any meat/cheese combo you want. I had a toasted ham and cheese on sourdough, and it was quite tasty! I come by at 7pm -- a normal time to eat dinner, in my opinion -- walk back to the deli counter and ask if that's where I pick up the chickens. To which the guy responds, "wow I was just about to put these in the refrigerator". I apologized and said I didn't realize there was an end time to pick up, since the website just says "after 5pm." So he says, "well how long do you think a chicken stays good sitting at 150 degrees?" I was kind of floored by how rude it was. I'm used to picking up chickens at HEB or whatever that have probably been sitting there a while and are good enough in my opinion, just like this one from Dia's ended up being I probably should have just left, but I took the chicken to the empty counter where I stood for 5-10 minutes waiting for someone else to appear and ring me up I really wanted to like the place because this neighborhood needs some nice stuff to replace the run down convenience stores and abandoned lots, but I haven't been back since and every time I pass it, it looks pretty empty. ‍ you'd have one more regular customer if you were more respectful read more

I'm a central market shopper all the way but there are certain items they don't carry and I have to make the trek up to Whole Foods (Primal Kitchen for example) when I run out... I know, poor me. First world problems. Anyway, I walked into Dia's on a whim the other day and noticed right off the bat that my trips to Whole Foods may be numbered! They have Primal Kitchen products!, stroopwafels, pickles, amazing sandwiches, great wine and these stupid, addictive biscuits with a thin layer of chocolate on them that are damn near impossible to find. I was thrilled and bummed all the same time because I'm trying to cut out sugar and this place is a little too close to my house! :) You get the idea... Pretty much everything they sell is top quality and comes from local vendors and here's another tip. On Friday's there's a former taco deli employee that cooks up some amazing Mexican food. A cool little popup which I hear there will be more of in the future. Definitely worth a stop when you are in the area. I believe he starts at 5:30 every Friday. Dia's has quickly set itself apart in the neighborhood as a valuable grocery and sandwich spot. I'm here several times a week to pick up missing items for dinner or a quick snack or drink. David, the owner, always makes time to say hello and the staff are equally as friendly. I love that they have an ample selection of vegan items and also a freezer section full of really enticing things like pierogis, tamales, and "the ultimate" mac and cheese (which will run you $13). A price comparison puts most items about a dollar more expensive for the same thing at Whole Foods, without the trip there. Produce and fruit is where you'll take a slight hit and the selection can be slim depending on the day. I've picked up tomatoes, garlic, parsley, and apples regularly. Their wine selection ranges from $12-$35 (in the reds at least) and I've tried some great new wines. Last time I was in David helped me find a new price conscious wine - since I splurged on a $30 bottle the trip before (it was worth it!). Breakfast sandwiches are excellent and made to order. Rotisserie chickens. Baguettes available to take home. Fresh brewed coffee to-go. Stop in, explore the expansive selection, and get to know the neighbors. read more

I live near here and love visiting for several reasons. Their sandwiches are absolutely delicious and I appreciate that they are made using local ingredients. They are always happy to customize my sandwich too, which I love. They have a great selection of wine, beer, and small treats that I have a hard time finding elsewhere close to my apartment.
