They have an order form you can fill out while waiting in line, which helps speed up the ordering process and avoids any miscommunication between the customer and staff. I'm shocked I never reviewed dim sum cafe. I've been so many times and has been my go to for soup dumplings and great chinese food. Also they are really nice people that care about giving great service. Like I said I go here for the soup dumplings and they are some of the best around. Super tasty when you add a little soy sauce but be careful of the hot soup in the middle. Let it cool before you enjoy. The orange chicken is very tasty and has a nice crisp with excellent flavor all around. The bbq pork buns are awesome also. Very light bun with a good amount of bbq pork within. I would recommend you get an order for those. The chow mein with bbq pork or even the veggie is great. The portions are good to share also One of my go to places for great chinese. 5 star Chinese food and dim sum! The dim sum was cooked fresh to order and tasted really good. My favorites are the soup dumplings, and crab wontons. I also enjoyed the beef lo mein. You can get free vegetable egg rolls with your first yelp check-in. The restaurant is clean. Employees wear masks, have hand sanitizer at entrance, and are limiting number of in-dining patrons, seating everyone far from each other. I saw the employees wiping down the booths, tables, and menus after each use. Restrooms are clean. Great prompt and friendly service. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend! read more

Super happy to come across a dim dumpling place nearby in Mesa. Start off with the soup dumplings they rated a very high four. We moved onto a wonton noodle soup. Also rated that a very high four. Finished it off with General Tso chicken. For this entrée, I give it between a three and a four. The reason for this is that the grease taste was obviously from old grease. Chef changed recently, is what I was told... just a week before we visited. Menu changed slightly but still served some dim sum including Xiaolongbao. We tried several different dim sum but none of them really were that good, I don't think this place will be my first choice of Chinese restaurant. Perhaps given more time, a new chef may get used to the new environment and might get better? Service was okay. She worked really hard, they were just short staffed on the day we visited. I'm so glad I found Dim Sum Cafe on Yelp. I was happy to try their Shanghai style rice cake dish. I've had this dish numerous times in California. Although I remember it being less saucy and more soy sauce based, I still enjoyed their version of this dish. I also enjoyed their dim sum dishes. Everything came out steaming hot which is a big bonus as some of the other big dim sum places serve cold dishes when they have been sitting on the carts for a while. The soup dumpling was delicious. The skin was on the thicker side, but the flavor was spot on. The scallion pancake was excellent. It had nice golden brown and crunchy exterior and soft interior. I have eaten here two or three times in the recent past and I recall the food being very good. I hate to say negative things about any restaurant, especially 4 and 5 star ones. I wanted to do takeout this time, so I decided to order on line with pickup. They gave me the online bill and here is the problem. I had about a $42 dollar bill, then tax about $3+ and then, here is the kicker, $8 for a tip!!! I could understand the tip, which I would have left $9 if eating in, but not for not carry-out, this was not home delivery which should cost something. I was shocked, then angry about a tip for me to go to them and pickup! Come on, when did the restaurants begin doing this? Very good dim sum. The dim sum doesn't come around on a cart so it's nice to have the ability to order dim sum and not be restrained to a specifc serviing time like Mekong which ends at 3. This restaurant serves dim sum until 8pm closing time and the dim sum comes out steaming hot. Maybe a little too hot for my liking but can't complain I guess. They didn't have specific dishes that my girlfriend and I were looking for. Such as the shrimp rice noodle roll and any sort of duck. Definitely a smaller dim sum menu compared to most. The restaurant is a little small hence it being a "Cafe" so keep that in mind. Overall, very good dim sum. Doesn't really feel like the authentic dim sum experience with carts and all that but the service was excellent, no language barrier and the servers are very quick and responsive. I think each plate averaged around 6.99 so its a little on the pricier side but it defintely tastes fresh and I would recommend this place for anyone who wants dim sum without the carts and willing to pay a little extra for freshness. read more

So, I wanted to love this place because people I follow here gave it strong ratings. Alas, it just didn't work for me. Let's get the basics out of the way first. Seats are strong and sturdy enough to hold large and wide bodies like mine. It's a small space, about the size of a hair salon but tables are widely spaced to accommodate every size. I came here expecting Dim Sum to be like my two standbys: Great Wall here in Phoenix, and Harbor Palace in Vegas. This place didn't even come close, and here's why: -very limited Dim Sum options. I remember twelve items, but I'm a bit fuzzy on exactly how many are available. -of the available options, the portions are much smaller for roughly the same price as the above-mentioned two Dim Sum places. This is particularly noticeable in the Glutinous Rice, Sesame Balls and BBQ Pork Buns. Except for the Egg Drop soup, the other dishes we tried were boring. The Shanghai soup dumplings didn't have much taste until I poured chili oil, hot mustard and soy sauce on them. And is the dough supposed to be that chewy? The Glutinous Rice is small and have very little ingredients. The BBQ buns are tasty but very small. Sadly, I won't be returning here anytime soon, not when Great Wall continues to have Dim Sum. The International Supper Club UYE kicked off its 7th year and met up at Dim Sum Café. Dim Sum Café is opened 6 days a week and till 9pm and you can get dim sum outside of the brunch hours! Ever since I had watched Eat the World with Emeril Lagasse episode where he was eating soup dumplings from the US to China, I knew I had to experience this this myself. So, after checking out Dim Sum Café's menu I saw they had Shanghai soup dumplings and I knew what I wanted to try! I ordered the steamed chicken dumplings and the Shanghai soup dumplings. The steamed chicken dumplings where everything I wanted them to be, grateful they are in an order of 4 because I could eat them all day. Then I tried the soup dumplings, and these guys did not disappoint! Its an order of 8 dumplings that look uninviting but don't let that full you, they are packed with flavor and are juicy. Each one as tasty as the 1st one, in fact while writing this review out I am really wanting to go back for more! Service was great, everyone's dishes they ordered looked amazing and I look forward to trying everything out. If looking for a dim sum place in the valley, go give Dim Sum Café a try. read more

On today's visit I had the shrimp dumpling (4), BBQ pork bun (3) and shanghai soup dumpling (6).. all of them were delicious!! Definitely hit the spot.. the soup dumpling if you're not familiar is the one that you put the whole thing in your mouth, bite into and the hot soup pours into your mouth (be careful it's hot when it first hits your table).. They do not have the steam carts so you order like sushi .. from a paper menu.. they don't have a lot of variety/options but they do have a solid variety. the service is fast and friendly .. the staff teams up and checks on all tables.. they were busy but there was no wait to be seated and food arrived quickly. Overall, I like this place but I wish it could be better. I found so many good reviews on Yelp, and it made me want to try. the food was not fresh enough and kinda pricey. Hot and Sour soup was goooood, but the pork in the soup ruined everything. the pork tasted weird（not fresh). I would love the soup without the pork. Siu Mai and Chicken feet were frozen. Hard to tell whether or not the items are made in-house. If yes, still had been a well. My daughter came in for Father's Day and asked what I wanted as the special meal. I hadn't had dim sum for a long time, pre-pandemic, for sure and was eager to try Dim Sum Cafe after reading the other reviews. Too bad the era of the rolling carts might just be another casualty of the pandemic, but on the plus side, everything we got was piping hot. Hard to remember them all, but definitely overate, dumplings of all sorts, black bean buns and more. Go and be adventurous. So what if you're not sure what it'll taste like. Dim Sum all day! Limited dim sum selections, but serving all day, along with their other entrees on the menu. Shumai is a type of traditional Chinese dumpling. It is made slightly bigger here than other restaurant around. Everything in this Shumai is cut chunkier and tastier. I tasted the Spicy eggplants with bell peppers, scallions and chili paste in brown sauce. The eggplants are cooked nicely from a wok. All their food here are cook to order. It's probably not the best cafe to go to if you are in a hurry, but it is well worth waiting for a delicious cuisine. Nothing have change at this cafe. From the dim sum they did have, I recommend the veggie spring rolls, char siu bao, and chicken feet. On the mediocre end but not bad were the scallion pancakes and soup dumplings. The fried dough was crispy and not very oily but there was no congee to dip it in. All in all, the dim sum was simple and didn't leave you feeling gross from the oil but a little unsatisfying because of the lack of items and a little pricey for the portions. The veggie lo mein was tasty as well. You can choose your dim sum from a list on a slip and then order anything else off the menu. It is hard to find a great Dim Sum restaurant in the valley when you grew up eating at different locations in the San Francisco area every Saturday morning. However, after much searching, I am so glad I came across Dim Sum Cafe! My husband and I ordered dim sum for takeout and were very satisfied with our selection. We ordered: shrimp dumplings (har now), shumai, pan fried pot stickers, Shanghai soup dumplings and Shanghai style spare ribs. Each was absolutely delicious and we were not disappointed! Although the selection is smaller and the price is higher you gain so much more with quality. I will definitely be visiting again and more frequently to satisfy my dim sum cravings! read more

Just dined in with my mom today (6/28/22) and wasted $40 on hot and sour soup with spoiled shrimp! I had to spit it out because it tasted and smelled funky. I think the pork in the soup dumplings (xiaolongbao) and shumai is old. Har gow was ok. Mom didn't even eat the shrimp. I have been looking for a place that serves good XLB here for a while besides another restaurant in the valley. This definitely takes the lead spot replacing it! This is a MADE TO ORDER restaurant so have some patience and it will be paid off once you take a bite! I went around 7ish with my family and we were the only ones. Ordered hella siu mai, shrimp dumplings, XLB, bbq pork bun and beef pancake. All were absolutely wonderful. This place is a straight banger. It beats waiting around for a cart to come by. Dim Sum: Brunch That's Anything But Dim. I've been having dim sum as far back as I can remember. As a kid, I wasn't really into it. I went to school five days a week, just let me sleep in on the weekends. Baba and Mama W. liked having dim sum at precisely 10AM. That means I had to be up by 8-9AM to get ready. Ugh! As an adult, dim sum is a much more enjoyable experience. And with Dim Sum Cafe, you can have dim sum all day long --- You could get out of bed at 5PM and still get your dumplings! Yes! Dim sum is the Asian people's brunch but instead of alcohol and mimosas, you have it with tea to help with digestion and aid in digesting all that grease you're eating. Shout out to hometown China for making everything greasy and a round of applause for Tums. What acid refux, amirite? Dim Sum Cafe sits in the spot where I had a terrible XLB experienced I won't soon forget. Being such, I walked into the restaurant tentatively. I'm glad I was pushed to try this place though because the food was bomb. Dishes starts around $4 which is a little bit more than the dim sum places in town but things are cooked to order. So forget about getting over-cooked and over-steamed dishes from the steam carts, you can get your food hot and juicy. Yas! The chicken feet was okay, a bit lacking on flavor but you can tell clean oil was used to fry them; the har gow was delicious with their translucent wrapper being the perfect texture; the Shanghai soup dumplings were juicy although they really need to give their customers the Chinese ladle spoons to enjoy these babies; the black sesame buns were standard; but the siu mai was truly amazing. The meat was so smooth in the siu mai. Mama W. always told me too slam the meat mixture when making dumplings to aerate the meat and I wonder if that was the trick to getting such a great mouthfeel. I did have a hiccup though with one of my orders that I won't go into detail. The staff did everything they could to fix the problem so I'm not mad about it and it clearly didn't drive me away from leaving them a positive review but it's also the reason I can't give them a solid 5-stars. 好食物! The food was great! I'm from Hawaii and the food is super diverse. In HI we call shumai "pork hash". I've been in search of good pork buns, soup dumplings, and shumai for the longest time. It's safe to say that Dim Sum Cafe is spot on:) The service was a 10/10, the lady and young man who helped us were very patient and kind. They checked on us adequately. I absolutely love that I can now have dim sum at any time of the day and in the evening! In addition to dim sum, this restaurant also offers Sichuan dishes and noodle soups. We stepped in here on a Saturday mid afternoon and ordered a few items from the dim sum menu: Shu mai, pan fried beef bun, scallion pancake, and xiao long bao. All the items are cooked to order but they came out in a short amount of time, piping hot. Out of all the items my favorite was the shu mai. They were four huge pieces and the ground pork was tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. The xiao long bao were large too and had a lot of delicious broth but the dough was a little too thick and gummy for my tastes. I also would have liked some soup spoons to eat the dumplings with so that I could capture as much of the broth as possible. The pan fried items were fried to perfection, and the beef buns had a lot of juicy broth to them as well. The scallion pancake, with its crispy outer fried layer, was a little too thick and dense tasting for me. The selection for dim sum is a bit limited compared to the big restaurants with carts and a bit more expensive but I think this is the trade off you get. Less variety and more expensive but fresher product vs. more mass produced taste with more options. Service was impeccable and the ladies that own the restaurant and work here are so friendly. Dim Sum Cafe is a new establishment in a retail strip. The inside is seemingly budgetary, with plain tables and chairs, and just a few items of decor placed haphazardly. The menu was a piece of paper in a binder sleeve protector. So, contemporarily designed, it is not, but...dim sum...at night! The staff was friendly, and quickly brought beverages and answered any questions we had. We ordered shumai, spare ribs, dumplings and the server's recommendation of soup dumplings. The items were great, especially the soup dumplings. Those were sweet yet savory, squishy and full of beautiful, tasty broth. I could eat them every day. I should note that there are other entrees beside dim sum items. So for those who like traditional American Chinese, there is something here for you as well. This is one of my favorite spots ever!!! There's a good wait time of course but you know your food is fresh that way!! The soup dumplings and red bean buns are to die for!! Whenever I'm sad this is the restaurant I order from- it's my comfort food and always makes me feel a little bit better. I've always ordered for takeout and haven't eaten in before. This place is a gold mine for dim sum lovers. Dim sum is typically only served in the morning, normally 11-3pm, so it makes for a great brunch/lunch meal. However, with this place, I can now have dim sum for dinner! Best. News. Ever. The food is delicious, and it comes out hot and fresh. This is a nice change from the typical dim sum where the food is pushed around in carts (it stays warm, but hot is always better than warm). Pricing is normal compared to other dim sum places as well; I recommend the shrimp dumplings (har gow) and shanghai soup dumplings (my first time having them, and I was not disappointed!).
