Discada in Austin is an ABSOLUTE must-try. The flavors are incredible, rich, bold, perfectly balanced and the meats are unbelievably moist and tender. You can tell everything is cooked with care and serious attention to detail. From 24hours marinading to the 6 hours smoke every bite delivers that deep, savory flavor that keeps you coming back for more (literally we went back to order more). On top of the food, the staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Despite how popular it is, they turn over orders incredibly fast without sacrificing quality. You're not waiting around long, and what you get is consistently excellent. 10/10 would recommend. Discada lives up to the hype and then some.
Contrary to most of the reviews here, I found the tacos to be overhyped. They were tiny, and they just didn't taste that great. The flavor was mostly greasy, without much contrast. I expected the pineapple to shine through more, but it really didn't. Overall, the dish felt very plain and lacked depth.
My first time checking out their new location behind Chalmers Bar. There is tons of seating outside and inside the bar. Service is relatively quick as well. They only serve one type of taco, but you can select from 3, 5 or 8 tacos. The tacos are small, about 2-3 bites per piece, but they are packed with flavors. The sauces also add a tang. The tacos are okay in my opinion. Not the best in Austin, but definitely in the top 5! Highly recommend stopping by for lunch or dinner!
National Taco Day was a good day to find out about Discada. I had never heard of it until a friend texted me that they were offering 3 tacos de Discada. When I arrived, the line was long, giving me a chance to read up on Discada tacos. According to their sign: Born in Northern Mexico, Discada is a specialty dish of beef, pork, and aromatics cooked on a tractor plow disc. We hand chop all ingredients, marinate them for 24 hours, and slow-cook them in layers for 6 hours. The result? A rich, flavorful taco unlike anything you've ever tasted." When I received the 3 tacos, I discovered that description to be true: they were flavorful tacos unlike anything I had ever tasted! The corn tortillas that I requested were moist and tasty. Despite the line of people waiting for tacos, the service was somewhat quick. I didn't mind waiting a little for delicious tacos on National Taco Day! The ambiance is relaxed and casual, as would be expected from a food truck.
Love how they specialize in one type of taco, and they do so fabulously! The food truck is located inside of Chalmer's, so expect to show the bouncer your ID before you can head in. It is also a bit loud in there, but as expected for a sports bar environment. There was no wait for us on a Sunday 2pm. The discada taco is packed with flavor. A bit on the smaller side, the tray of 3 tacos was a good snack size for me. The pink sauce (hot) packs a punch, while the orange sauce (mild) is a tangy, not very spicy compliment. I would highly recommend dropping by! There is a reason this is a Michelin guide restaurant.
Pro-tip: Enjoy with a choice of Discada's drinks (topo or Mexican coje, for example). Drinks at Chalmers are way too expensive for what it is. Great service, and tasty presentation. Street-style tacos (with meat), so the plate of 8 tacos are recommended. Both salsas are flavorful, with the pink one being spicier (due to the habanero). Pricey for the portion size, but, you know...this economy...
If you're on a taco tour in Austin, this place must be on your list!! They only sell one type of taco and get it as it comes. They're tiny 2-3 bite tacos or one if you're brave. The meat to the tortilla to the toppings to the salsas, everything is perfect. You can get just three tacos for a snack or get all eight for a full meal. They are a food truck located inside the bar chalmers with lots of seating and great vibes. Cannot recommend this place enough, incredible tacos!
No major decisions here, just 3, 5, or 8 tiny tacos filled with a tender meat medley stewed and seasoned to perfection. Yes to all the fixin's - cilantro, onion, and pineapple keeping things fresh and light with EXTRA *** HOT green & red sauce. Service is slower during lunch, as their addition to the Michelin is driving up wait times, but Chalmer's has a huge patio and lots of options while you wait.
I don't know if it's considered a controversial/hot take (a la Austin BBQ opinions) to say I like Discada over Cuantos... It's still so interesting to think that the Michelin inspectors sat down just like we did and decided that two food trucks had better tacos than most sit down restaurants in the city. They technically only have one flavor, but this one flavor is the only one needed because it's mindblowing!! The price is reflective of their new reputation, and also because it's food adjacent to a bar but once in a while a trip here would be warranted. The seating area is covered and has A/C which is great. I could see the screen showing a baseball game without issue, and the bathroom sink area is easy to access if you just want to wash hands/not use the facilities.
Hot take: I'm not a fan of tacos, but for Discada, I'll make an exception. If you're looking at the menu and are wondering, "Where are the options"--you don't need them. The only decision you need to make is: 3, 5, or 8 tacos? (Pro tip: go big, the tacos are as big as my tiny hand). Another note: immediate yes on the Elote. If you don't eat pork or beef, I'm genuinely sorry, that's the only taco on the menu. But, I wish you could know how incredible it is!! The meat is slow-cooked for six hours, then topped with micro-diced onions, cilantro, and pineapple upon serving.
THE BIG: Taco food truck right off of Navasota and Rosewood. However, I do believe they move around a bit, so check their website! Street parking typically wherever you find them. THE BLACK AND WHITE: Heard from a couple of folks that this place was the best taco spot in town and had to try it. It was around 6pm when we arrived and there was fortunately only two other people in front of us ordering. Discada specializes in one type of taco and they come in 1, 3 or 8. We got the 8. The spice/heat was there with the condiemnts and the little tacos reminded me of cuantos tacos. I still think cuantos is better, however these little tacos do pack a mean bite. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Ultimately we spent around $17 for eight tacos. Very affordable and they specialize in one taco. Delicous and will be back!
Discada is definitely one of the best taco trucks in Austin. They only serve one thing--Discada tacos--but that one thing is absolutely worth the stop. The tacos are small, but packed with flavor--perfectly marinated, super tender, and just incredibly tasty. You can grab a bunch (like 8) for around $16, which makes it a great deal too. It's a simple setup--tacos come with two types of salsa and fresh lime wedges--but honestly, that's all you need. The meat is a mix of several kinds, and the flavor they get from the disc grill is unreal. Nothing fancy, just really well-executed, authentic tacos. It's not in the most obvious location, but absolutely worth seeking out. One of those spots that you tell your friends about after you go. Highly recommend.

The menu here is simple but wow is it delicious! Your only options are tacos or elotes, both of which we ordered, and both of which were great! The tacos are small. They come on a corn tortilla and have an incredibly favorful mix of meet, topped with pineapple which adds a perfect sweetness (we almost asked for it without the pineapple but I'm so glad we didn't!! Trust me, do it!). Three tacos and half an elotes was a decent sized meal and I wasn't too full, but you could probably go for 5 or 8 if you are hungrier because they are small. There was no wait when we came on a Tuesday for lunch and there were nice tables right next to it. I highly recommend this spot! read more
Yum! Super quality meat, marinated and slowly cooked for hours. Every bite had a great amount of meat and flavor. We were in the area late night and were craving tacos and Yelp said this was closest and I'm so glad we stopped. We received our food hot and fresh with 2 options for dipping sauce that has the perfect heat. One thing to note is that they are pretty mini (and delicious) so you'll want to order quite a few as you will likely inhale them fast! In the area there are a few picnic tables around and a covered pergola with tables under it behind the truck. We were able to pay with tap payments for cards as well. You can order online ahead and pickup or just walk on up and ask what they have cooking they're friendly and passionate about what they're doing. read more
Grabbed some tacos and elote as a snack on the way home the other day (to share!) Tacos were terrific! Generous portion of meat, all seasoned to perfection. The elote was a little underwhelming in terms of the amount for the price, but it was tasty. This is a food truck with some covered seating, great place for a quick meal/snack. Call ahead like we did and you don't have to wait much at all! Overall recommended but probably wouldn't drive across the city for it. read more
Discada serves some pretty good tacos. They try to keep it as simple as possible, so they do not have many options on the menu. They only serve tacos with beef, pork, bell peppers, and onions topped with onion, cilantro, and pineapple. Although it is not my favorite, it is still definitely worth trying. Top tier taco spot in Austin. I love Discada and its straightforward menu - one type of taco, elote and drinks. I crave the namesake tacos - seasoned meat paired with sweet pineapple and onion. I always get the 5-count as it's enough to be satiated but not stuffed. The tacos are tiny and can be consumed in two-bites each. Order online for easy grab and go. I usually don't stick around as there's not much ambiance at a food truck with picnic benches on the side of the road. That being said, diving in to the freshly made tacos is unmatched - a must visit! read more

The tacos were kind of small, but they actually said so before ordering. The flavors weren't as rich and flavorful as they describe, but not bad tacos. These take a surprisingly long time (15 minutes) considering they're slow cooked already. I came at 6:30pm (2.5 hours after opening) and it wasn't too busy. I'm not one to typically enjoy fruits on savor foods, but the mango topping works here. I don't believe $2.20 a taco is expensive, but because it's a typical price, you could get tacos elsewhere. There is currently a lack of reviews for this establishment, so finding it was a little difficult. If you turn right at the Chalmers sign, you can find street parking and the food truck is in the area with covered seating, folding sports chairs, lots of TVs, and a large screen. The other images depict it in an open lot, but there are walls and gates surrounding the whole seating area and truck. It is nice that water is provided at this center and the restrooms are remarkably clean. The outdoor hand-wash station was also convenient. TLDR/Reason for Score: - Same wait for food as a sit down restaurant despite not being busy - Average/Unremarkable flavor - Feels like you can get more flavor quicker at other places - A little contradictory, but there is slightly a different flavor if you want to try it once Not Included in Score: - Lots of seating and water is provided at park - Nice restrooms read more

The tacos were amazing. I got 16 and destroyed those taquitos easily with two others. The service is fast. The Elotes were pretty solid, nothing to write home about but still a very nice side pairing and crowd pleaser. Just note that the enclosed area the food truck typically resides does not allow children during certain times of the week. My wife, sister-in-law, and baby had to wait at the car while I purchased and secured those tasty tacos. I've been looking forward to Discada for months as a Dallas transplant. It's pretty awesome. read more
Came here for lunch on Thursday cause my friends wanted to try it out. I mainly came to spend time with my friends cause I know they only have corn tortillas and I hate corn tortillas. So I only ordered 3 tacos. You only get one type of tacos and it's basically a tiny al pastor. It did take a while for the tacos to come out considering they only make one type of tacos and it wasn't even that special. Now this part, I'm not sure if the tacos to blame but it's the only thing I ate different that day. I felt sick and ended up throwing up 2 hours later. Again, not sure if I got food poisoning from the tacos or it just didn't sit well with my stomach. read more

My only regret about going to Discada was not getting more tacos!! We LOVED everything about Discada. The owner/staff were really kind and helped us understand the menu. We were huge fans of the elote. We wish we could come back here everyday. We also appreciated there being seating which is rare for food trucks typically. read more
I'm still recovering from maybe the best taco experience of my life. Discada is another level of juicy, succulent, deep flavors wrapped in corn perfection. 3,5 or 8 discada tacos are the options at this food truck and head my warning. Chingón! This word was enthusiastically bellowed from my diaphragm as I finished devouring my sumptuous feast. But let me take you back to the beginning. I concluded my hour long journey to Austin as I parked 1 block away from the famous "Discada" eatery. My body began uncontrollably trembling from the greatness that awaited me. I approached the establishment with haste and was pleasantly and warmly greeted by the masters of the establishment. After pleasant dialogue I politely requested 8 discada tacos with cilantro, onions, and pineapple (their signature taco ingredients). What came next could make a grown man cry. Within minutes, I hear my order number called out and the feast was set to begin. Bite after bite I was engulfed in ecstasy and transcended to an all new plane of existence. You need to come here and enjoy their tacos for yourself. The best tacos in the world! read more

Absolutely amazing tacos. I won't bore you with the details and cooking methods but take it from this Latino who grew up on the border that these tacos are delicious and flavorful. I got brave that afternoon and went in for the eight tacos, thinking it would be more an appetizer as the tacos are on these super tiny and cute corn tortillas. I felt like I was eating with some Umpha Loompas those tacos were so tiny. But let me tell you they might be tiny but do they pack a punch with a flavor that explodes in your mouth your tastebuds scream for more. It's a trailer, but there is some seating outdoors under some coverings and the celebrities behind the grill (Taco Mafia fame) are a bunch of nice guys there to make it feel like you're literally in their kitchen having some down home Mexican comfort food. read more

When Austin taco truck Discada reopened after their long temporary closure, I was so excited to check them out and try their tacos. I really wanted to love them, but I thought they were too salty. The unexpected star of the show was the elote en vaso (esquites). Seasoned perfectly, spicy, and delicious - I would come back just to order their elote again. read more

Live everyday like it's Taco Tuesday Highlights: *Pineapple *Spicy Pink Salsa *Discada Style Tacos Review: After weeks of being on the list I was finally able to check out Discada. I ordered 8 Taquitos, elote en vaso and a Fanta. These tacos were full of flavor, smoky, with hints of spice from the pink salsa, acidity from the lime and sweetness from the pineapple. These tacos are a perfect two bite size however they were a bit salty. The highlight of the day was the elote, it had perfect texture, soft center, sweet, saltiness from the queso fresco, creaminess from the mayo, tanginess from the tajin and the perfect amount of acidity from the lime. I would definitely come back for more tacos and elote. Rating: 8/10 8 Taquitos- 24 hour marinade of beef, pork, bell peppers and onions slowly cooked for 6 hours in a tractor plow disc - topped with onion, cilantro, pineapple and served with a side of salsa & lime. It is with great relief that I can share that I have found my new taco home. *Much FOOT STOMPING and shrill FINGER WHISTLES* Discada is a mixed grilled meats dish cooked on an agricultural plow disk harrow, hence its name. There's only one taco on the menu here and they are tiny... ordered in lots of 3 or 5 or 8. $10 for 5. These absolutely mouthwatering, sinfully rich morsels are worthy of the Church of Tacos. I can't believe that they've been in business for three years (except for a couple of months when their food truck got hit by a car!) and I'm only just discovering them. read more

Small and perfect menu so you can't go wrong. All of the tacos are stuffed with a mix of pork, beef and veggies that have been slow cooked in the Discada wok (cowboy wok) and oh yes it's good, very good. They also have spicy candy and elote so we definitely can't wait to go back. You can walk up or order online for pick up. read more

Been wanting to try this place for ages and after watching the amor episode of Taco Mafia (on PBS) just really made me fall in love with their story. This type of taco is unique and you can definitely taste it. It's different meats braised over the day with lots of unctuous meat fats and lards. It isn't oily either and you would think the meat would dry out. It didn't kind of the softness of liver without that liver taste, the tacos are just the right size. A plate of five is a good portion to share. The salsa was a thicker green variety salsa more for added texture than spice. Also some pickled onions as well if you want to add those for some sourness. The Mexican street corn was very bright and had a nice spiciness too it that is essential in Mexican cuisine. Plus the guys working the truck are very cordial there was a slight wait as they caught up on orders. There's shaded seating on picnic tables out back and every one is friendly so no problems sharing a table with strangers. Parking is mostly street parking and so it's just a short walk to the truck. read more
If you've got something perfected then do that. These tacos were delicious. Options to order three, five, or eight street tacos. I stopped by with a coworker for lunch. He ordered three. I ordered five and some street corn. He wished he ordered more. I was feeling the same way. Definitely worth the drive over. Ordering and food service was quick. It appears there are options for ordering online and curbside. We ordered at the window and had food in about ten minutes. There were a couple uncovered picnic tables and four with an awning over them. Accepts tap payments. read more
I finally went and tried this place after passing by it a couple of times and I was not disappointed. This location does not have a menu but they sell one kind of taco in quantities of 3, 5, or 8. I got the 5 tacos with everything on it even though I was a bit hesitant about the pineapple on it, but I ended up liking the pineapple on it! The green sauce is my favorite and goes great on the tacos. The reason why I gave this place 4 stars is that they were a bit on the saltier side to the point where that's all I could taste on the first bite but as I kept eating it didn't bother me as much. It was also a bit hard to find parking around here but I ended up parking a block down and walking to the truck. read more
