Flavorless fish tacos. They looked pretty but had zero flavor.

If you look at my reviews, most of them are positive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place had a great vibe to it, it just sucked.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We stood behind one customer at the hostess station, she was trying to pay for her to go meal and the hostess was taking care of the transaction for 15 minutes. The place was mostly empty, the hostess asked if we had a reservation. When we said no, she looked over her glasses at us in disapproval. She seated us after asking for my cell phone number, what did she need my damn number for if we were being seated? Maybe she was supposed to give it to our disinterested server so our server could text us? Server showed up after a half hour wait. We were hangry at this point and ordered our cocktails and food as soon as she got there. Drinks came not too long afterwards, my Ole Fashioned was so watered down it looked more like a glass of water with a giant ice cube in it. My wife's cocktail was actually pretty good, even for being very watered down. Food portions were off, tasteless, and seemed like they sat for a long time before our server, who spent most of her time socializing with the other servers than serving her tables brought us our plates. Over priced, underserved, bad drinks, why go here? This place is actually in a freaking resort!

I was a smidge hungry while waiting to go to the airport so my group stopped by for a quick bite. My coworker ordered a chicken sandwich and I ordered the bread service. I feel like these two items should be relatively quick but the food took quite a while to come out. When I asked the waitress if our food was ready after waiting 30ish minutes, she said they were putting the final touches on it...??? My group started joking they were putting the sesame on my bread with tweezers. The bread itself was great though. I love a good sourdough with a heavy dose of butter. The seaweed butter was a nice touch. Wish the service was a bit faster. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The views and the bread were fantastic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is a beautiful place to dine.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a great meeting place to catch up with friends, celebrate a special occasion or bring out of town guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You cant beat the spectacular view![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Stopped for brunch a few weeks ago. Had such a great experience here! The service was excellent. Our server was attentive and had great drink recommendations that we really enjoyed. We started with the hummus and veggies appetizer, which was colorful, and tasty. I ordered the chilaquiles, they were delicious and had the right amount of crunch, just how I like them. The steak on top was a great addition and really rounded out the dish. My husband got the eggs Benedict, and he enjoyed them as well. The flavors were spot on, and everything was cooked just right. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Between the delicious food, the well-made drinks, and the beautiful view, Dockside 1953 was an overall a good experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely recommend!

Great service, atmosphere, and food! I did not catch our servers name but she was very sweet and fast. We sat outside at a fire pit which was a beautiful view of the sunset. Seating was comfortable. I ordered the Caesar salad and added steak to it. I never finish my meals so this was surprising that I liked it so much I was able to finish it. My friends like their drinks, steak, pork tenderloin, Bahia Salad, and desserts. I had a taste of the tart dessert and it was a perfect tang and sour.

Dockside 1953 is the relaunch of the on-site restaurant at the Bahia Resort Hotel in Mission Beach. It was formerly Cafe Bahia while 1953 represents the year the resort was founded. The property is on the southwestern edge of Mission Bay with a nice view of the water to the north. A large outdoor patio was available if you wanted to dine al fresco while looking at the bay. I decided to dine inside which turned out to be prudent because an isolated rain shower hit the area and forced the parties who were out on the patio to take refuge in the dining room. My visit occurred near the switch over from the breakfast menu to the lunch menu. The hostess gave me a copy of each after I was seated at a table. The latter had better selections which consisted of the following categories... Starters, Greens, Flatbread Pizza, Favorites, and Sides. For my meal, I chose a Wilted Spinach Salad and the Farm Bird Chicken Lollipops which were actually listed on the bar menu. The salad was made up of spoon spinach, tomato, candied pecans, tart apple, egg, and gorgonzola cheese. The dressing was a sherry-bacon vinaigrette. The medley of flavors ranged from the tartness of the apple to the sweetness of the pecans to the saltiness of the egg and cheese. The price tag was hefty for the serving size though. The small plate came as three drumettes coated with a hoisin chile glaze. A scoop of coleslaw was included in the center of the dish. I was quite disappointed at the amount of chicken. You can get eight to twelve chicken wings with the same amount of meat on each piece for the cost. While the setting of the restaurant was pleasant, the value and quality of the food were the reasons why I gave a three star rating for my lunch at Dockside 1953.

I came here with my team for work and we shared the hummus platter and artisan bread. I liked the bread as it was sourdough with two different spreads. The lobster mac n cheese was okay, but i think i should have tried the fish tacos instead. They forgot to give us plates at the beginning so that would have been helpful, but other than that, it was a nice experience especially as you get a good view of the water.

    BLACKENED SALMON. Excellent.

    Dog friendly on the patio?

Hi, thank you for your inquiry. Dockside allows dogs on the patio, but not in the restaurant. We hope you can join us soon.

Hi Cori, yes, there are a few limited GF options on the menu. There is not, however, a separate designated area where they prep GF food, but they usually are good about separating dishes when cooking if specified there is a gluten allergy. They are…

When we arrived, there was no line at all. Security was really nice, and we got in easily. There weren't many people inside around 10 PM, and I definitely feel like this bar is more of a "grab a drink, sit with your friends, and chat" type of spot. It's not a club or a dancing bar. We ordered a round of shots and a mixed tequila drink. It wasn't strong at all, but it was really delicious, and I genuinely enjoyed it. The server was also super nice, especially since our friend's mom kept ordering drinks and shots. He brought everything out quickly and with great service. I really loved the architecture and ambiance. It had a darker, cozy vibe, very much a small, deep-bar aesthetic. They also had some really cool paintings, and if you were wearing white or yellow, your clothes would glow in the dark, which was a fun touch. It wasn't super busy, and I appreciated how easy it was to find seating and just relax. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest, but it was still manageable. Overall, I'd definitely check out this spot if you're walking around Ocean Beach and want a chill place to grab a drink and hang out with friends.
