The worst $250 I've ever spent. Made reservations for my wife's 30th birthday and had an absolutely horrendous meal. Great server who did his best, but the food was awful from start to finish. Sea bass dinner was below average at best. Filet mignon ordered medium rare- rare, was served medium (and that's being generous to the cow). Mushrooms tasted dirty and sides were unflavorful. We could not imagine a worst meal for the price to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. We would NEVER return, nor recommend anyone to this restaurant. If you like to spend $200 per head on mediocre food and rude service, come to the Bahia's on-site restaurant. They have a fabulous view, but it ends there. I've rarely been to a more expensive restaurant, but figured at a place that charges $10 for a small basket of bread, the food must be outstanding. Sadly, no. I had the mussels, which were overcooked and had an acrid flavor from the large handful of fennel. Friends at the table gave me bites of their rib eye, and it was phenomenal, as was the New England clam chowder. Their culinary style seems to be "when in doubt, dress with a dollop of butter." The creme brûlée was nice, but they put no effort into properly glazing the sugar, so it was gritty and lacked the 'crack'. The chocolate cake was dry as a bone and absolutely wretched. I am highly dubious it's made on site, but nonetheless it's a terrible choice. At the end of the evening, our server left us to decipher their bill rather than splitting by seat, which is easily done at the POS from the beginning of ordering. I asked him to do it for us with our cards and he said, "that would be hard for me" and walked away. I left Dockside with a bad taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively. Came to try because we had a promotion deal. The view, the ambience, the servers were wonderful. We had a Trio Sliders and the crab cake as appetizers. Nothing stood out to us with the slides and the crab cake was good but pricey for the size. For main course, we had a Seared salmon and a Seabass. Protein portion were tasty; however, the rice and the quinoa under the fish, were very sour and we couldn't eat them, and they came out luke warm... Again they were quite expensive. The salad dressing on the Cobb salad was so tart I could not eat it! I talked to the manager and he brought out new dressing but did not offer to remake the salad so I just added the new dressing to what was already on my salad-making an even worse dressing. I had to send the Salad back. My husband ordered the burger and asked for it to be medium. The Burger came back medium rare and very very red juicy. The fries were cold so we ask for hot fries. I understand there will be a new chef beginning tomorrow and I will give it one week or two to settle and then we will try this again and I will update my review. read more

I took my family here for a decade birthday dinner celebration. The venue was beautiful, with outside tables right opposite a riverboat on the Bay. The service was attentive and excellent, although the portions were small and menu selections limited: entrees included 1 beef, 1 chicken and 3 seafood options. Ask for the bread, a small, fresh and delicious loaf accompanied by two types of butter. Wine prices were absurdly high, so we saved ourselves for champagne at home. I received a complimentary birthday dessert that was appreciated. Overall, I expected more from a $230 dinner for four people with two cocktails. read more

In San Diego my birthday and gave this a try and boy what a find! I had the Steak Oscar that was a 12oz filet that was cooked perfectly at medium+. TOP 5 for us in our travels. Amazing! Perfectly cooked asparagus, potatoes and a crab cake that I actually ate. Our table could seat 4 and had a fire pit in the center. Remarkable ambiance any plenty warm. Service was first rate by Kelley who took great care of us. I complemented the Chef to her and 5 minutes later we met Chef Aldo who was gracious and welcoming as though you were in his home. Returned for breakfast, and the food was just as amazing as the night before as well as the service. Thank you to the staff for making us feel like family. We'll drive from Orange County to eat here. Chef Aldo is making waves at Dockside and this eatery needs to be on your list. read more

On 2/11 my party was racially profiled by the Dock 1953 stand in manager & staff. We attended a bottomless mimosa brunch. Which is lackluster and overpriced .... We we're seated and having a great time for over 2 hours. We were a lively group and no guest complained for the entire time we were seated. In the last 10 minutes the staff brings out a birthday cake and sings to us . This is when things went left. At this time a white white customer comes up to us and says "I know you guys are celebrating but we're not able to enjoy our meal Because of your party" All would have been fine if the manager would have handled the situation in a fair way. But the manager did not . The manger admittedly said he assessed the situation from inside the building through a window and didn't hear what happened himself. He made an assumption that was based off of the color of the people at our table. He even went as far as to call security all because we were black. When I asked for th hotel manger he said he was the manger because the other managers were off .. it just seemed very odd that we couldn't speak to anyone above him ... very odd... It's sad that in 2024 the old stereotypes about San Diego are true . People of color can't comfortably dine, shop or live in neighborhoods above the 8 freeway and the experience I had at the Bahia is a great example for why that's is still alive and true . I eat out all of town 3-4 time if not more per week and I've never experienced this level of deplorable service & profiling anywhere else. I hope Bahia will further investigate this situation and make a statement regarding racial profiling on behalf of their management team. On a better note our server Cyana was amazing . She hand drew us a birthday card and it beautiful . We really enjoyed our time with her before the stand in manager ruined our experience and frankly her tip . she was completely blindsided by the managers decision to call security and do all those extras . Cyana was not the only staff member who was apologetic which tells me the stand in manger has done this before and will do it again . He needs to be stopped and the Bahia should be better about who they hire to deal with the public read more

We came here while we were on vacation and thought the food and location would be good. Unfortunately, this was not true for us. Let's start with the good: the staff were pleasant and friendly. They were patient with our questions. It was explained that the menu options have been reduced due to staffing issues. We ordered the oatmeal (which was fine, not extraordinary), veggie omelette (below average bc of the small amount of food, bland taste and did not have the ingredients that we were expecting) and the American breakfast (below average). For the location: it was nice to be by the water but it was a marina, with stagnant water. It wasn't as impressive or pleasant as we were hoping for. Overall: unless their menu or food quality improves, look for another place to eat. read more

I hosted a party of eight on Thursday for lunch: the view is nice, the venue is nice, but our food came out very very late, and there were only two other tables in the whole restaurant. Also, our waiter, Scott, did not come back and check with us when we first got our food. There were issues with our orders. Never before have I ever seen a waiter come back and drop seven separate checks in their own billfold with our credit cards already charged. He made us go through everybody's personal check and card and dish them out to the right person ourselves. The food was not great. I would recommend it if you just go to sit on the outdoor patio for a drink, but again, with only two tables, the food took a really long time: they acknowledge that it did. This review is only based on dinner!! We had time to kill before the Bahia Boat ride so decided to eat here. Ordered humus, fries and clam chowder as appetizers. Humus was nasty, fries had no seasoning and side of ranch was also nasty. Clam chowder was good, give it a 8 out of 10. Entrees we had meatloaf and rib eye. Sauce for meatloaf was nasty. Ribeye was ok, I have had better. Service was not the best. I'm not sure if it was because we were dressed just in regular clothes nothing fancy but it took a while for us to get our check. Food was overpriced which I don't mind if it's actually good food. Only reason why I'm giving it an additional star was because of the view. Other than that I will give it a 1. read more
