    German Chocolate
    Kenneth T.

Portland's vegan pride is on full force at Doe Donuts. These are just good ass donuts man. I mean $4.00 for a donut is kind of nuts but they're filling and delicious. The seasonal German Chocolate with the large candied pecans really changed my understanding of how good German Chocolate type deserts can become. Delightful

This place was amazing! Service is good, small space indoors, but plenty of outdoor seating. Did not realize all the donuts are vegan because you cannot taste it at all. My favorite was the pineapple upside down fritter and the strawberries and cream donut! Their signature Portland fog was a little too sweet for me. Mango sticky rice has good flavor, but the sticky rice consistency was too mushy. Overall, though, enjoyed everything we got and I would still rate this place a 5/5

Tasty donut place offering a variety of vegan flavors. My favorite and the most popular is the Portland fog. The donuts aren't as heavy on your stomach so there's less guilt.

Hands down the best donuts in Portland. And they're Vegan?! I love that Doe Donuts has a classic menu but then also gets creative with seasonal special donuts, which gives me an excuse to come back to try their new flavors. They also sell ice cream and coffee, though I've never tried anything else but their donuts. Small shop so I wouldn't recommend coming to eat in, but there's a cute outdoor seating area. Street parking is usually easy. They also have a rewards program. Service is always prompt and friendly, asking everyone what their plans are for the day. Highly recommend!

I wouldn't have been able to tell any of their donuts were vegan unless you told me! Each donut looks like a work of art (and tastes like it too.) Looove that this shop doesn't skimp out on flavor! I inhaled the Portland Fog donut so fast, a vanilla bean stuffed donut topped with an earl grey glaze and a generous cloud of whipped cream. The Breakfast BLT caught me off guard - It's light, simple, savory, and super yummy. Surprisingly my favorite item here so far! The staff know what they're doing with their vegan menu! Start your day on a good note by swinging by this quaint bakery for a fun & tasty treat :)

Every time. We love Doe. Savory. Sweet creamy. Crunchy. They've got it all. We haven't been disappointed yet. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I'm always happy with Doe in my belly lol. And my kids LOVE it. My carnivore hubby loves it too. So it's a treat for the whole family. Thanks Doe!!

Super fun donut shop! The service was great and they had endless options to choose from; all equally beautiful. We grabbed a half dozen donuts and the standout was the Salted Vanilla Bean. So simple, but so tasty. The other flavors were nice, but didn't pack the punch I was hoping for.

OMG! I finally got to stop in here after years of wanting to try them. It did not disappoint at all! I opted for 3 flavors, vanilla bean, Dubai chocolate, and sweet potato curry. Wow! Mind was blown. That Dubai chocolate was absolutely amazing. The cream inside was whipped and so light, not overly sweet. The sweet potato curry was so delicious. The flavor was unmatched. Then the classic vanilla bean was everything I wanted sweetness with a little hit of salty. All vegan! Service wasn't anything great. Quick in and out service.

Love Doe Donuts! Nice staff, tasty donuts, and super unique flavors. I'm not even vegan but would happily eat these over regular donut shop donuts. I got two of the March specials- the strawberry and cream fritter and the rosemary caramel donut. They were both delicious! Good price for vegan donuts as well. Looking forward to coming back and trying some other flavors!

I haven't been to doe donuts in a while, but they're definitely one of my favorite places for vegan donuts with a lot of fun varieties too. I got the s'mores ice cream sandwich. it was very rich and gooey. the corn fritter donut had actual pieces of corn inside.

Phenomenal donuts. Truly. They're vegan too! I'm not vegan but I appreciate that. We ordered 3 donuts and they were so good we went back and ordered 2 more. What makes them great is that the dough is so soft and chewy and the frosting is not too sweet. My favorites: Portland fog (earl grey), hibiscus ginger, classic chocolate, classic salted vanilla bean. Will be back to try other flavors! They also have ice cream but didn't have a chance to try it yet From 12-3 they have happy hour: get a small hot coffee and a classic donut for $5!

Top down - Portland Fog, Hazelnut Chocolate, Italian old-fashioned
    K T.

We were on our way to Seattle, and I'm so glad we made the trek to this place. Wow, just writing this has me drooling thinking about their chocolate hazelnut donut. Omg, one of the best things I ate on this trip. My mouth was genuinely happy with this fluffy, raised donut, and they were not stingy with the filling--packed to the extreme. It was so good that after finishing the first one, I immediately went back for another. YUMMMM. They really know how to do it right. Hands down, I'm blown away. Portland Fog - another yummy contender and definitely worth ordering. Italian old-fashioned - Wow?!! Not your traditional version at all, thanks to a surprisingly delicious crunch. I've never been a fan of old-fashioned donuts because of their density, but this one persuaded me to take three bites (which says a lot). Loved this twist! Will return when I'm in town!!!

Portland Fog, Apple spice fritter, Breakfast BLT
    Jackeline R.

I can see why the Portland fog is such a popular flavor! Their donuts are super light and airy, not too dense. Their fritter was so yummy and the chunks of apple really finished it off quite well. Their breakfast blt was also enjoyable, I like how they used a donut as the bread, made it also a good light breakfast. Perfect spot for a grab and go!

Ask the Community - Doe Donuts

Are there any gluten free options?

Their website says: DO YOU HAVE GLUTEN FREE DONUTS?…

Is it still the case as of May '22 that a 1/2 dozen is $18 and a full dozen is $39? And if that's the case, why do they charge you $3 more for buying a dozen?

Just buy two half dozen. Problem solved.

What are the donuts fried in?

Are all of the donuts vegan?

    Yes

    How are the classic donuts?

Amazing! Best donuts I ever had.

$40 for a dozen donuts. Are they worth the cost of a tank full of gasoline?

I would take a dozen Doe donuts over a tank full of gasoline any day.

Are there any discounts for orders by the dozen?

    Nope!

    Do they deliver to Calif?

No they don't shop their donuts. Time for a road trip?? ;)

Are any of the donuts soy-free?

they have some soy free and nut free options-things do change there. I started going there because of their one choice of Gfree donuts and that has not been offered any longer!

Is Doe Donuts offering any special deal for National Donut Day?

I couldn't resist so got 4 donuts to myself, one of each version of donut they have. I also asked how well they last after a day. OG: horchata glaze has a slightly floral taste to me. Regular brioche yeast donut. Good simple template. Got stale after a day. Lychee milk tea creme brulee: same yeast but filled. Excellent cream and excellent crispy top. After a day, the top does melt and become less crispy. Peach cobbler cake donut: nice flavor. It is pretty oily as other reviews have said. Texture wise, between the density of the brioche vs old fashioned. They hold up the best after a day; in fact, the employee said that she liked it better after a day and I could see why - the oil perhaps keeps it not stale and fades away a little. Chocolate bergamot old fashioned: my favorite. Just the way I like my old fashioned as crisp fried exterior with an indulgent dense interior. More dense than the cake donuts. The flavor was deep but not too sweet with a glaze. After a day, it wasn't stale but the crispiness faded. They do TGTG and I would totally do this if I lived in Portland.

Walking in less than an hour before closing, we were surprised to see most of the items still in stock! We ended up picking four things to try: Vanilla Bean Kouign Amann ($7) - This pasty has a sweet yet salty exterior that's complementary in flavor rather than clashing. It's accentuated with a crunchy glazed and caramelized sugar layer that's on the sweeter side. The interior is interesting. There's a cavernous gap right in the center that's filled with a sickly sweet melted sugar syrup. It's unpleasantly sweet and very cloying. The puffed and filled area is large enough that it compresses the other layers so the kouign amann is dense. I've never had a kouign amann quite this sweet before. (3/5) Meyer Lemon Olive Oil Cake with Thyme ($5.50) - This cake is so moist and rich, thick and dense, fatty and rich, that it feels like I"m eating a slab of butter. I'm sure it has just as many calories too! It's quite sweet, although not nearly to the level of the kouign amann. Overall, it's just a really rich and decadent cake. (4/5) Blueberry + Vanilla Cream Brioche Donut w/ Earl Grey ($6) - The top of the pastry is dressed with a cream that has an unmistakably strong bergomot earl grey taste. I wish there was way more cream - there's essentially only a dab on top! The rest of the donut is filled with a custardy light blueberry and vanilla jam. It's not too sweet and has an excellent high quality blueberry fragrance, creating an exceptionally strong blueberry taste. The jam is not too thick and is somewhat syrupy from sugar. The donut itself is really soft and extremely airy. It's the fluffiest donut I've eaten in a long time. (5/5) Raspberry Rose Cruffin ($8.50) - This pastry has some fun dehydrated raspberries sprinkled right on top of a light and fluffy cream that's not too sweet. The cruffin base is buttery in taste and great lamination even when filled with the custard and rose/raspberry cream. This is a heavy cruffin that's very filling. (5/5) Twisted Croissant certainly does some some really delectable treats. It's one of my favorite bakeries in Portland!
