Ive been to Doe Donuts many times while visiting in Portland and they have my favorite donuts of all time. The service staff is always incredibly kind and happy to help you pick out donuts. The Portland Fog donut and Ube Creampuff Donut are my personal favorites; it helps that everything is also vegan. For drinks, I recommend the Dirty Chai! There is also ample seating with picnic tables outside. Go early in the day so that you have all of the flavors in-stock to choose from. The donut was more chocolate than almond, but a nice combination of both flavors. I tried a bite of the Portland fog as well and it was a more subtle flavor, but quite tasty and good whipped cream! The coffee was a little bitter, but not bad. I am glad I stopped by Doe Donuts on my visit to Portland. I tried one of their most popular flavors the Portland Fog donut and my kids shared their mint chocolate chip ice cream. We received nice and friendly customer service and got our goodies quickly. We sat outside to enjoy them on the picnic benches. The donut itself was amazing and I am somewhat picky about my donuts.. if they're too dense I am not a fan. This donut was light and airy - my favorite when it comes to donuts. My kids enjoyed their ice cream, but I didn't try this time. I love that this shop makes everything from scratch with good quality ingredients too. Wow the portland fog may be one of the best donuts I've ever had. I can't believe the cream on top is vegan! I'm not vegan and I don't think I would be able to know this donut was vegan if someone didn't tell me. I love that it wasn't overly sweet like most donut places. I tried a couple other donuts but the Portland Fog was by far my favorite. Much preferred these over Blue Star Donuts to be honest. There's no doubt that this is one of the best donut places in Portland. It was good enough that we came back twice and the guy remember us right away :) Keep in mind that this is an all vegan place but they do their things soooo well that you couldn't tell the difference! The first day, we got the the blue cheese donut, my husband's reaction: 'is this even a donut, it's savoury. There's meat in this blue cheese donut! Wait, it's vegan? No, it can't be! Finally made my way to Doe for some yummy donuts! They open at 7am and had all flavors available when I showed up. Tiramisu - great coffee flavor! The cream held up well and was the perfect bite. All or nothing - cookie butter filling was thick, my kid didn't like it too much. Great chocolate flavor. Sour apple fritter - lots of tart apple pieces! Crispy outside with great apple flavor. When I came back, my dog ate the strawberry but not the tiramisu haha my dog really didn't like it Their donuts are so so and definitely not the type that makes you go "omg I can't stop eating". So, ya. We tried them all. Donut Friday, after all. I picked up a dozen for my office. There was a guy driving a trash truck nearby when I came out of the store, so I offered him one and he took it. We exchanged big smiles. Random kindness, get some! Here are some of the comments from my colleagues: Vegan? No way! Best vegan anything ever. I usually don't like things I'm used to that have been altered to be vegan, but this wasn't like that at all. No weird aftertaste. Vegan? Very tasty - the chocolate was great. Here is a long comment: I did not have a full doughnut as I am in the process of reconditioning however I did cut off a small sample of the powder sugar donut. Had I not known it was a vegan doughnut I would not have guessed and would put it on par with some of the better doughnuts I have had. For my part I have had many exceptional tasting vegan doughnuts but it is the texture that, to me, is usually lacking. This one had a rather nice texture and exceptional flavor. The one with crushed candy cane was delicious! first xmas themed dessert i've had so far! I give the donuts my stamp of approval (this was accompanied with an image of Homer Simpson, looking satisfied, and holding a donut). As for me, Quinn, I mostly agree that they didn't have any weird flavors. I had the maple salty one. It was super sweet. I prefer some cake with frosting and all the sugar hit me like a drug. It was good, but this is one of those bougie donuts that I'm only going to get once in a while. It's not a working donut, for sure. I was so exicted when my manager suggested this for our Employee Surpirse and Delight. I was deligthed just by the idea of ordering from them, as I had heard about them and had been wanting to try them. Becuase we were working, we ordered them from DoorDash. I visited Doe Donuts last weekend after having it on my to try list for quite awhile. The shop is small. There are a few tables outside to sit at. There is street parking. All the donuts looked delicious so it was difficult for me to pick out two to eat. I ended up getting the tiramisu and the peaches and cream rice pudding which was a seasonal flavor. Just like Jackie L, I also had a mini coughing fit when I ate the tiramisu donut. They are heavy on the cocoa powder mixture! They cream was delicious and the donut had great chew. It was so great. The peaches and cream donut had a sweet peach glaze and the rice pudding reminded me of Thai rice and mango. The hint of lime came through. The service at the counter was good. Ssshhh, don't tell my Dentist, but I stopped here after getting some dental work since they are right around the corner! It's a cute little shop and the doughnuts are beautiful and come in a variety of unique flavors like the three we tried: Earl Gray tea (named Portland Fog), Tiramisu, and Salted Almond Rocha. They also had Pear Fritters which I had never seen before, but makes sense since apple fritters are so popular. They even have a savory Thanksgiving doughnut that I just couldn't get myself to try! Especially since the prices are on the high side - $3.75-$4.00+ Packaged beautifully so that when you get to your destination, the doughnuts still look gorgeous. Immediately upon tasting, I noticed a very different mouth feel, and that's when I went to Yelp and realized they were Vegan Doughnuts, which I had never had and didn't pay attention to as I buzzed in and out of the shop quickly since I was illegally parked. It wasn't an offensive feel, just different and not my preference. We found the tiramisu and Earl Gray too light on flavor. Of the three we tried, the only one that would cause me to drive across the River for, meaning it was crave-worthy, was the Salted Almond Rocha. A cake dough with a dark chocolate glaze and bits of toffee candy and almonds on top and a noticeable dose of salt. Definitely the doughnut my Dentist would advise against! While these doughnuts aren't my preference, I respect that for many who are Vegan it's fabulous to have not only an option, but one that takes such care in baking doughnuts with original flavors and glazes. And for those who aren't Vegan and love these unique taste combinations. Doe Doughnuts is taking all precautions during Covid, including letting only two people in shop at a time, wearing masks, providing sanitizer. Honestly, did not expect Doe Donuts to take me out like this but I'm planning my next trip back ASAP as I type this. My friend had been raving about Doe Donuts recently and I was so intrigued that I decided to drive over suuuuper early on my day off. I told myself I'd get 3 donuts max and that I would control my sweet tooth but alas, the world had other ideas for me. BAM I got 7 donuts -- but can you fault me? I wanted to try them all~ I was able to get the cheeseburger x2, carrot cake, french toast, lemon poppyseed, tiramisu, portland fog~ All of them were insanely good and tbh I got so many looks for the cheeseburger but it was SO good!
