I don't like hot dogs. I hadn't eaten one in years (other than a bite here or there, where I would reaffirm my distaste for them.) However, oddly enough, I woke up two days ago and decided that I wanted a hot dog. Lucky for me, I was going to a show at the Rose Bowl that night so Dog Haus was in my area. I ordered the little league hot dog (chili cheese dog with fritos) + tots. I'm not sure how much my opinion even counts since I clearly don't normally eat hot dogs, but holy S*** this was probably the best I've ever had. No unnecessary ingredients in the chili (aka veggies), tasty all beef frank, delicious Hawaiian roll bun. Pretty much it was perfect. Service was great and the prices were reasonable-- as they should be, we are talking about hot dogs here. I HATE THEIR BUILDING'S PARKING STRUCTURE! It's not even because I'm Asian this time that I find it difficult for cars to simultaneously go up and down their "additional parking" space because there's virtually only enough room for 1.5 cars. So after the very frustrating dilemma with the car situation, we took the elevator up to Dog Haus. The set up reminded me of a family sized picnic area with a modern twist to it, and I have to give it to them for using so much black in their color scheme! The tables were relatively clean with very few crumbs, the service was decent (but they just take your order and call out your name once your food is prepared), and the condiment section was to die for! Now I don't know too much about premium hot dogs, but I do know I love King's Hawaiian sweet bread which was what drew me in to this place. For $5.95 per hot dog (+$2.95 to add fries and soda), I was initially turned off by the price. It's just a hot dog, right? WRONG. We got the downtown dog to share between my ex & I (it was our 3rd meal of the day by 2PM), and it was orgasmic good! It was sweet, it was sour, it was meaty, it was everything done right about a hot dog. I can't think of any place else that can out-do Dog Haus except for maybe Pink's, but that's too far of a drive for me. As for the fries, they were decent at best. They were thicker than the normal fries that you can order at McDonald's, but they reminded me of the ones that come with your meal at Carl's Jr. They were slightly seasoned though which one-upped Carl's Jr. The cup for soda was too small, and my coke kept tasting like diet coke no matter how many times I got up to get refills. My ex also ordered a slider for $1.50. It was this scrawny little burger thing that probably couldn't even satisfy my baby cousin. As for taste, it was whatever. I'll pass on this. If anything, I would rather buy one of those White Castle burgers from the frozen foods section of Ralphs and nuke it in the microwave than order this again. Next time, I'll probably try one of their burgers and toss in an extra few items to customize my very own. Tip -- check out Groupon before coming here! I find myself making up excuses to drive out to pasadena, so i can have WTF?!!! a hot dog? NO! NO! NO! its not just any hot dog. Im like the fairy of food? but i dont bring food to you... I kidnap you, and take you to good food. Every person, ive brought here against their own better judgement, because of a lengthy commute, has nothing more to say to me after piling down a nice wiener down their throats...but an elated gasps of satisfaction... GREAT food but horrible for dieting! Hahah unfortunately it's not easy to get away from either, which is a plus on their side. Kings Hawaiian Bread is amazing, but even better with a salty dog with it! It's much better than just any light hotdog bun. This adds great flavor to your meal! :) I usually get the GRAND SLAM. Gotta love that fried egg! AND tater tots. Their chili fries are great too! I've never left the place on an empty stomach. They have a great selection of sauces and toppings that you can put on yourself, aside from the delicious selections of dogs and burgers they have on their menu. You have to select a good time to go, or you'll be stuck there forever. Calling in doesn't always help either. I've tried their phone for pick up, but they answered telling me that I was interfering with their credit card system and they hung up! It threw me off quite a bit, but I still love their food! Been here a handful a times now, and I must say that I actually like their burgers a LOT. Not to take away any thunder from their dogs or sausages, but their burgers are something else, man. The Little Mule is one of my favorite burgers to get in the area. The combination of cilantro aioli, avocado and tomatillo is absolutely delicious. The service is always great and laid back, and the workers never hesitate to help you if you have any questions or requests for recommendations. I finally tried this place today after hearing about it from friends and coworkers for months and It definitely lived up to the hype. I'm giving it 5 stars because everything was perfect and delicious. The staff took our order and was very friendly/professional, the food was ready promptly and looked like it belonged in a TV commercial it was so nicely made. I split 3 haus dogs and an order of cheesy fries between 3 of us. The Hawaiian rolls make these delicious hot dogs even more amazing and for $5.95 its a steal. Also with all the different types of dogs and burgers you shouldn't have any trouble finding something you and your friends like. I'm definitely going back to try some different dogs! Imagine taking 3 horizonally attached Kings Hawaiian bread rolls, split it open down the center, place it on the grill for that perfect grill. Than stuff it with an excellent quality dog & slap some homemade condiments on top. Just one word "genius". If your not a fan of the dog, you can get the same concept in the burger. Instead of 3 rolls you get 4 square size roll to make the perfect hamburger bun. They've been here before but it was my first time. When we got there it was a small place with indoor & outdoor seating. The indoor interior was really nice. When I was looking through the menu, the names of these orders were so unique. I decided to try the cowboy and it's smoked bacon, white American cheese, crispy onions, and BBQ sauce. I also ordered a side of fries with coke. When I got my food it looked so big & I thought I wasn't going to finish it because it looked so greasy and heavy...I thought I was gonna regret it, but I was wrong. It was nothing close to heavy. The bacon was cooked perfectly, the crispy onions made the taste lighter and of course the best part was the bbq sauce, which added more flavor. I've tried a bunch of their burgers from past visits. Freiburger, The Hangover, Holy Aioli, The Ringer, and Blutarsky (from Dog Haus Biergarten). The Ringer reminded me of Carl's Jr's Double Western Cheeseburger but BETTER. Much better. Their bbq sauce definitely makes the burger. The Hangover was messy with the fried egg and chili in it and all. I don't care if it's messy food as long as it's still perfectly delicious! The Holy Aioli - I split this with the boyfriend and he absolutely loved it. I love the Garlic Aioli. I'd try the Hail Maria next because mushrooms in burgers? Best. The Blutarsky - It's not on their regular menu yet but I hope they put it there permanently because this burger is bomb. My favorite Dog Haus burger hands down. Buns - so crisp & buttery on the outside, warm & melted gooey cheese on the inside (I got the DDD, but took out one dog and let the boys eat it). Dog - nice, not gargantuan-sized, but enough so that you have that + whatever toppings in every bite. Fries - oh the yum. Almost like belgian/Oinkster - that nice 'fried' crisp to it. Service - very nice (and patient, despite the wait and it being our first time here and staring at the menu because honestly, we couldn't read anything). The manager (?) came by and made pit stops at the tables and asked how everything was - super awesome! Price - VERY reasonable! Considering all the new 'in' spots that are opening up, and even with the food truck craze, a lot of places charge waaay more - here you can get a dog for five bucks and some change, no matter the style (well you have to choose from a list, but there's something for everyone in that list). So, why does this five-star sounding experience only get four? Really, for other places, I might mark it down to a three, but it was the weekend and our first time, so I'll give some leeway. Minus one for parking and dining space. When this place gets packed, there is no room to eat (our friends had to give up their seats and stand, it was actually a good thing they got there before we did) and parking can also be a problem when they're busy (we found street parking after going around twice). read more

I tried The Cowboy (white American cheese, smoked bacon, onion rings, BBQ sauce, crispy onions) and enjoyed it very much. I'm a huge fan of the BBQ sauce, bacon, and onion ring combination. It may be the little Texan inside me. The hot dogs come out on Hawaiian rolls which adds a soft and sweet touch to the dogs. You can see boxes of Hawaiian rolls stacked up towards the back of the restaurant. The image is enough to tempt someone into grabbing a box and fleeing into the parking lot. Damn. Well first off, I may be giving a really generous review. You see the most I've been spoiled by (in terms of hotdogs) is Papaya King in New York. And they just have crazy toppings on typical-ish stand hotdogs. That being said, damn I love this place. I ordered the Downtown hotdog and my friend got the So Cali. I tasted the topping of that one and damn it was good. I really wish I had gotten that one! Haha maybe next time. Anyways, I loved my downtown dog. They were super generous with the topping. Peppers, onions, and most importantly, bacon!!! Mmmmmm. Very juicy. I've also never had king's Hawaiian bread, so yeah, I was all starry-eyed. That bread tasted so good! I came here twice and was able to try the following burgers and hot dogs thanks to Groupon! Holy Aioli & The Hangover - The Holy Aioli was definitely a better choice than The Hangover. Now I know how it got its name. There was so much going on in that burger after eating just half of it I felt so queasy and nauseous afterwards :( SOoo Cali - It was an interesting combination. I like that it had a crunchy texture from the tempura fried onions. But the spicy basil aioli that was topped on it was a bit spicy for my liking, but the juicyness of the link, avocado, and lettuce helped counter the spicyness. Sweet Potato Fries & Regular Fries - Both were hot, crispy, and delicious! Tasted even better with their curry ketchup :) Cheesy Tater Tots - These were pretty amazing. Topped off with generous portions of cheddar cheese! (see picture) Sweet Potato Tater Tots - I actually prefer the fries because there was too much mushy sweetness packed into a bite, but it was still pretty good. Chili Cheese fries - I've had better elsewhere. It was nothing special to me. Curry Wurst - It's basically a basket with half fries and half sliced up hot links with ketchup drizzled over both and topped with curry powder. Again, nothing special here. (see picture) The service here is fast and efficient but the food in my opinion is just okay. If it wasn't for groupon, I would not see myself coming here in the near future. During my last visit to LA, my boyfriend and I decided to go on a food frenzy and try a bunch of restaurants we've never been to. Thanks to a bunch of yelpers, we ended up here. This place was relatively easy to find and there is plenty of street parking on Union St. It is located a block away from PCC. We came around lunch time, and it seemed quite popular. The tables were all full and the line was to the door. After looking through the menu, we decided to get the Fonz, and the Amigo. Both were absolutely amazing! I loved the Fonz because of the pastrami on top with the melted cheese. The Amigo was spicy and had the King's Hawaiian bread as the bun which added a nice sweet element to the hot dog. The lunch was very satisfying. We came back a few days later and tried some other hot dogs. This time we got the BLAST and the Sooo Cali. I didn't have the BLAST so I can't comment on it, but the sooo cali was really good because I felt like it had a lot of fresh toppings (diced tomatoes, lettuce, etc), and it had a nice sauce to top it all off. I had the Little Leaguer - chili, cheddar cheese, and Fritos. Yes, I know I can get Fritos more easily than I can make, say, the garlic aioli on one of their other dogs, but those corn chips are like sirens drawing me to shipwreck. It was delicious. Was I the only one who always thought "being in the dog house" was a bad thing? Seriously ... I would have engaged in a lot more mischievous hijinks as a kid if I had known that my only potential punishment was a mouth-watering, juicy sausage, smothered in grilled onions and jalapeno peppers, layered up with dijon mustard and curry ketchup, and placed gently on a crispy, sweet french roll. So for this week's grubbing session we knocked over a few mailboxes and spray-painted the cat blue ... and landed ourselves in Pasadena's Dog Haus. The place has a cool, open, classed-up vibe with long wood tables, a cart loaded up with hot dog fixins, and a giant menu board tempting you with a cornucopia of devilishly creative hot dog and sausage concoctions. Our grub mate H. Dawg, went for the Sooo Cali topped with mixed greens, diced tomatoes, crispy tempura fried onion strips, a spicy basil aioli, and avocado all loaded into a few soft squares of King's Hawaiian bread. If you've never had the super-soft Hawaiian delight ... or never had a hot dog on it for that matter ... you've never really lived. Ourselves, we battled back and forth ... resisting the desire to dive into one of their out-of-control (in a good way) hot dogs that are loaded up with toppings such as thick (and we mean thick ... like "measure it with a ruler" thick) sliced bacon, eggs, and tatter tots ... or another with chili-con-carne and a sprinkle of Fritos chips. Eventually we landed on one of the house specials ... the "Best of the Wurst" ... we went with the bratwurst and loaded up the aforementioned grilled onions and jalapeno peppers. Everything was taste-tastic ... from the flavor packed brat to the soaking-up-the-juices, just a-little-bit-of-sweetness and a-little-bit-of-crunch french roll. To match up with our dogs, we went with an order of their super sized onion rings and the side dish of every 11 year old's dreams ... tater tots. Now I know why Napoleon saved 'em up in his cargos pockets and was hesitant to give them away. These crispy, salty, cylindrical morsels of grub-delight are a magical accompaniment to any meal ... a perfect device to dunk into that craving-inducing curry ketchup (seriously ... if they don't have it out on the fixins cart ... ask for it) and pop into your soon-to-be-dancing mouth. Of course we also added a bottle of Mexican Coke to our order. Some say the deliciousness comes from the real sugar instead of corn syrup ... others firmly believe it's the glass bottle that makes it so damn good. But deep down we all know the real reason ... unicorn powder. Whatever it is, we just love the stuff ... especially when you're matching it up with the gut-busting, mind-blowing, heaven-on-a-bun coming out of the Dog Haus. Each bite I felt myself channeling my inner Sean Connery and holding back the desire to shout out "You're the man now dog!" I found it, and I didn't even know I was looking. Easily, the best hot dog place in LA. Well... LA adjacent. The point is, they have great hot dogs. I tried their Sooo Cali dog - which pretty much comes with a heap of deliciousness that snows with every bite, the andouilli sausage on a crispy roll and plenty of grilled onions, and the chili fries with coleslaw (can't remember the name, but it was something boat). Both the hot dog and the sausage were incredibly good with great toppings. As usual, the hot dog was overstuffed and very difficult to eat, if only they could figure out a way to contain all that flavor! The sausage was just a bit spicy but nothing overwhelming. As for the fries. Usually I don't like chili fries because the chili is too much, the fries get soggy way too quickly, and it's all a big mess. First of all, Kings Hawaiian sweet bread is a genius substitute for a bun. I've tried the dogs at Skooby's and was a fan, so when my friend told me this place existed I made sure to try it. Atmosphere: Parking is a pain during lunch/dinner times (street, left side parallel parking in some instances). The place is kind of small but it's possible to find a seat. Food: Sooo Cali Haus Dog is where it's at. Mixed greens, diced tomato, tempura fried onions, spicy basil aoili, avocado. The ingredients mix well together, creating a spicy kick, an awesome crunch, and a hint of creaminess. It's hard to explain but trust me on this one, it's good. The sweet potato tater tots are also great and they give you plenty. Fair warning though, you might go into food coma. The service is fast. read more

I have been in my fair share of dog houses but I was young and dumb, we have been through those phases when it seems like every thing you do is not good enough. Oh wait, yelp isn't my therapist! I share enough stories of my life on here that I should just drop my $500/hour therapist for this site. On to the foodgasmic experience I had at Dog Haus and boy I am still surprised I lived long enough to type up this review after I devoured a feast. My friend and I went on a 4hr hike a couple weeks back, we even got lost for about 30mins after going off trail to find a shorter route. Long story short, the shorter route was washed out but we found a waterfall that hasn't been mapped on the hike yet. So getting lost was well worth it, since we found a treat and survived long enough to feast afterwards. I had bookmarked Dog Haus a week before the hike and I thought would try this place if I ever was in the area, after a hike like the one I did I was starving and no matter how class I was I was going to be at this place. As you can tell from the picture we ordered our death warrant. After my friend ordered his meal I was still gawking at the menu, there were so many tasty sounding meals too choose some and in situations like these I just tend to get both of the meals if I had to choose between two different items. Only thing is I had to choose between 5 different meals. So i finally ask the guy behind the counter which would he eat and he immediately pointed to his favorite and trusting his expertise I went with his choosing than as I was paying for my meal he described their burgers and he just made me start to salivate right then there. He suggested I should try one of their sliders just to get an idea of what I was missing. OH MAN those sliders were AMAZING! Seriously one bite of that slider meat and you will know what I experienced I had chili on my hot dog and colesaw that had contrasting texture which meshed well. I'm updating this review not because I've been back but because Dog Haus took the time to write me a message. I always love when businesses care about their customers enough to take the time to listen to what they're saying. While I wasn't crazy about the food I ordered, I have to give them kudos for customer service. It definitely makes me more willing to try the place again the next time in the area. I got the Downtown Dog, chese tots and the dutch chocolate shake. My friend got Another Night in Bangkok, chili-cheese fries and a soda (photos attached somewhere). We were given our pagers and chose a table. My friend's pager went off a few minutes later. He dug into while I waited for my pager to alert. ... Watching my friend eat when I'm hungry is no fun. We've gone through this before at another restaurant in my YELP history. The entire store's complement of customers picked up their orders 1 by 1 and left. My pager still was silent. I dug out my receipt to prepare to complain, and I noticed the Tots weren't listed, I was billed for only the dog & shake. (No wonder it was such a good deal! ) I got someone's attention, they checked my receipt against their orders and said they would make my meal right away. The cook brought the dog to our table, and the Tots & tray followed later. He offered a free order of chili and did not charge me for the Tots. And that's what was really weird about this incident. Everyone was so focused on the solution, that no one said 'Its MY error, *I'M* sorry." Without that OWNERSHIP of the problem, the solution, even with free food, was perceived as half-hearted at best. It's as if they were shoving a candy in the toddler's mouth to shut them up, only I couldn't have been quieter in my complaint. YES they cleared up the problem, but the method they took was less than tasty, and I lost my appetite 1/2 way through the Chese Tots. I'll more than likely go back, at least somewhere in the #doghaus chain, but it'll take a little while. read more

After seeing so many positive reviews on Yelp about this place, I decided to venture out on a rainy Friday night to try it myself. Got the Grand Slam dog and my boyfriend got the Holy Aioli burger and we went sans fries or tots. Waited 10ish minutes for our food, but the guy was nice enough to actually find us sitting down and bring us our tray. As soon as my boyfriend took a bite of his burger, he instantaneously started "jizzing in his pants." At first I didn't believe him... until I tried it for myself. Yes, it really was that good. Unfortunately I can't say the same for my dog. Since I got one without any real wet addition (chili, sauerkraut, cheese, tomatoes.. etc) to my dog, it was on the dry side. The egg was a bit complicated to eat as well so I just completely took it off and ate it separately. I love this place's summer camp/cafeteria shared bench seating. The guy working at the cashier was super nice and they sell cute shirts (that I will buy eventually) for only $8. Next time I'll def either get a dog with chili con carne or just go with a burger. read more

Big fan!! Talk about an insane menu, its all here. It could be a while before I get a chance to complete this menu. It's so overwhelming you have to scan it a few times, but luckily, I did my home work. Thank you online menus. I made a bee line to the Grand Slam Dog before I even got there. Getting there was pretty easy, right off the 210 Fwy. Usually I really don't like Pasadena for their lack parking. For me, only DTLA gets the pass for that. It was a bit smaller then I had thought, the seating is bench style with these big crates for chairs. Very earthy decor that is perfect for dogs. The GF had a hard time deciding on what to get and settled for the corn dogs, Corn Dog Sliders. As I stated before, I was anxious to get my mitts on the GSD. We both split a Dirt Bag; chili, cheese, onions in a bag of Fritos. We've had this before in a larger serving in Texas. Finding a place to sit when it's crowded is a bit challenging. We got lucky and a opened up just as we finished ordering. They call your name and the fun begins. My dog was more then a handful so a knife was in order. Eating a monster like this, in traditional fashion would just be impossible. My Grand Slam was built perfectly and looked like the pics I had seen. The GF loved her corndogs, but loved the Dirt Bag more. It was pretty much of a tie when it came to that for me. If you don't know the menu, check it out before you head there. That would be my one recommendation. We can't wait to go back an hit the next dog. read more

This place is definitely worth going to if you want top quality burgers and dogs....and if you want to be stuffed with all the evils of dog...I'm talking about italian sausage with pastrami, or large beef hot dog with bacon, onion rings and sauce. I like to call it a heavenly heart attack. And its not all over the top food and filling. Its very good quality food at very affordable prices. The workers there are super friendly and there condiment bar is great. They have different specials weekly in order to keep the menu fresh. The freiburger is great, and the blast is really good. Abe froman dog is ridiculous....sweet potato fries are very good and the onion rings are huge. You gotta go there yourself in order to check out what your taste is. read more

I never thought I'd ever make out with a hot dog in my life, but I shamefully did. These things are HUGE! If you manage to eat one of these hot dogs, and don't make it seem like you were auditioning for "Deep Throat: The Sequel" then I applaud you!!! If spicy sausage 'aint yo' thang, then look elsewhere. I think that's the only variety they offer beside vegetarian. I'm not complaining, I love the stuff, but my cohort wasn't so pleased. We split the Cowboy & the Blast ones... I LOVED the Cowboy, call me a country girl, but I wouldn't mind riding another one. The Blast wasn't so awesome, it was aiight, but nothing to write home about (which is actually a couple of blocks away, haha) The onion rings are flippin' awesome, the fries are alright. We tried the plain fries, and the cheese ones. I don't like diary, since I'm lactose, but I managed to suck a few down my gullet. They were great. Prices are very reasonable! I know you're all thinking, "5.95 for a hot dog, you got to be out of your stinkin' mind!" But it's like a hamburger, with great ingredients! For 2.95 extra, you get fries & a drink! If that's not a sweet deal, I don't know what is. Although the food and service was great (and REALLY clean bathrooms, even though it's literally a sausage fest in there- I don't think I saw any female workers, haha) It's easy to over do it at Dog Haus. I was full by the time I was only half finished with my hot dog, but to be a good sport, and not waste food, I polished the baby off. Repurcussions were had. Stumbled here after not wanting tovwait at Julienes ( a brunch place. Wide selection of Great juicy burger. Ta tar tots were bomb. Definitely try the hot dogs too. You can park across the street on green and Raymond for pay meter. Update: just tried their happy hour for the first time and it was def a great deal. $1 for sliders with caramelized onions. $1 for full sized fries!!! $4 for beer and well drinks. Hawaiian Sweet Bread! Tator Tots! Aioli Sauce! Avocado! These are all of my favoriteee things! Probably one of the best hot dogs I've tasted so far. The Sooo Cali was yummy! I mean the sausage itself was average, but the toppings and bun made it 10x better. They also allowed me to substitute the sauce with the cilantro aioli, which was really nice of them. I'm so depressed that there isn't a Dog Haus in the Bay Area. Their food is pure sinful goodness. I ordered the Scott Baioli a few weeks ago(caramelized onions, smoked bacon, white American cheese, garlic aioli on an all beef skinless hot dog served on grilled king's Hawaiian rolls) and it was an experience. I've heard all their food is an experience. You gotta get their chili cheese tater tots. Forget dieting here. You will not regret it. The ambiance is casual but the food is not! Omg this place is amazing. Utterly amazing. My boyfriend works in the area and just moved here and decided to take me one night because I was craving a good burger. The place is really cool inside and the employees are super friendly. I preceded to order the Holy Aioli burger and added mushrooms. I got sweet potato fries on the side. It was like heaven in my mouth. Exactly what I wanted. My boyfriend got the hangover burger with tater tots. I got a bite out of his and holy crap was the chili amazing. All the side sauces and chilies you could ever want are available to take as well. This place is definitely one of my top amazing burger places. read more

I saw all the positive reviews and had to check the place out. Even though I try to avoid cured meats and every time the word hot dog comes up I have that scene from the episode of 'The Simpsons' when Lisa decides to become a vegetarian and is imagining what goes into a hot dog. The one where she pictures parts of a pigeon, rat, raccoon and boot join together to form a hot dog? Regardless, I'll go out once in a while and indulge and what better way than to go to a place that people have been raving about on Yelp. I got the Scott Baioli with the pastrami sausage "upgrade" and onion rings on the side. It wasn't bad but there were a few things that I would like to see if they could adjust. The first thing was the cheese that was used. It tasted like they were using Kraft Singles white American cheese and that kind of killed it for me because the flavor of this cheese was over powering. A subtle flavored cheese like Swiss would probably go better with this cured meat, almost like on a famous Langer's #19 pastrami sandwich. The garlic aioli they put on it kind of got lost in the flavor mix. Maybe the aioli only had a hint of garlic? I'm not sure, but when I was eating this hot dog, I actually forgot that it was supposed to have a garlic aioli and thought they had just used regular mayonnaise. Bleh. To dip my onion rings, I picked out their curry ketchup. Unfortunately, just like the garlic aioli, there was nary a taste of curry. So I ended up deciding to try and kick things up a notch and added some habanero sauce to the curry ketchup but it ended up tasting like I added Taco Bell hot sauce to the mix. *SIGH* A few pluses were the excellent customer service, the ease of finding street parking near by and the cool stand up retro arcade games. I was also very pleased that they toast up King's Hawaiian rolls for the bun and the texture of their hot dog was perfect. All in all Dog Haus was intriguing and good enough for me that when I'm in the area again I'm definitely going to give it another shot. The price was reasonable too. I just don't think I would drive all the way from Hollywood to Pasadena for it though. read more
