I have to update my review, after having tried their burgers. To me, the burgers are where it's at here. The choice of different dogs/sausages/etc is awesome, but I love what they do with their burgers. They're somewhat thin patties that are super moist, and they have the most awesome combos. My favorite is the Little Mule - it's pretty much everything I could ever want in a burger, all wrapped together with a delicious kings hawaiian bun. The one bad thing is the burgers are huge (more than I can finish in a sitting, though I usually power through it and end up feeling ill for the rest of the day) and super messy. Or at least my favorite burger is. The bread sort of falls apart while you're trying to grip it, so it's almost easier to just grab a fork and knife and call it a day. Tastes better when you try to pick it up though. The fries are good, but I can hardly finish my burger, so I don't usually order fries. Legit place when you're feeling like a delicious but not so healthy burger. Or dog. And parking is underground, behind the place, off of Union. 4 days after my visit to slaw dogs we ended up here for another hit of hotdog goodness... My brother heard we were on a hot dog kick and suggested we try this place... the place is really modern ... with rolly wheel picnic tables Awesome 80's music blasting... ( I love the 80's but really hate when you can't hear the person you are eating with which is just across the table from you) though i don't think it can be helped since the place is a little overly plasticly... concertie? has nothing to help asorb the music and the super high ceiling just makes the noise bounce around more... anyway on to the food... we had... B.L.A.S.T. it was pretty good though i didn't care for the Hawaiian bread... normally a fan of the bread but it just didn't work for me in the hotdog... too soft and sweet ... Downtown dog ... another LA street dog this one was messy but good.. the bacon is super thick and crispy the onions and peppers were nicely carmelized... but once again the KH bread didn't hold up well it became a kushy mess after the 1st bite =( and the sweetness didn't really go w/ the savory toppings the Little Leaguer +bacon is Oh so good! Tons of chili and the bits of fritos crispiness and toasted corn really adds another factor to the chili. the added bacon also added a little crunch. We had this one on a toasted roll and the roll fell apart due to the chili but it really was better at holding it together then the KH bread. The grand slam... it was ok I didn't feel the egg added to the hotdog ... but tots and bacon were spot on... now the question was do we have it ketchup or mustard... both worked ^_^ Tri pepper Kielbasa.. w/ grilled onion and peper and mustard on a roll... this was solid not awesome but nothing wrong either. freiburger... Come who hasn't wished they could order a burger w/ fries inside??? well now you can... not to mention cheese and cole slaw and a fried egg. the patty is hand made which was super fresh and juice... the topping strangly went well together... but once again the KH bread was a failt it got soggy really fast then kinda just fell apart =( Overall this place is good read more

OH MY GOD. Are you kidding me Dog Haus? You must be. Hot dog + Hawaiian Rolls + Toppings = BOSS. I had the Grand Slam Hot Dog, a mixture of bacon, tater tots, fried egg, and a load of greatness. XD Had a side of sweet potato fries doused in melted blue cheese. Move aside "The Counter", your sweet potato fries can't touch these. Tater tots were amazing. Bacon was good. Veggie hotdog was good~ tasted like meat so 4 stars for that... but what? no beers? damn~ I was referred to this place to have some good dogs.... but yelp said full bar so I didn't expect to see just hotdogs on the menu~ and no alcohol~ Beer and Hotdogs go together like PB&J~ but this place didn't have it when I went~ I heard they are coming soon though with full bar...which will boost this place to a 4~ so till then~ I shall venture off to other location~ which I still have yet to check out! Better than Wurstküche? I don't think so but better than Pinks. Parking: Its awful! If you find parking on the street, take it immediately. Going in and out of the parking lot/bld is ridiculous. 1.Sooo Cali - some greens with fried onions, tomato, and avocado with spicy basil aioli. The hotdog itself needed more flavor and that snap when bitting into it. I wish the aioli packed a little more heat to it. 2.Downtown Dog - bacon with mayo, onions and peppers. Can't go wrong with a wrapped bacon dog. 3.Hawaiian bun - The one thing that DogHaus has over wurstkuche. Hawaiian bread buns is already good but toasted just a bit makes it fantastic. Only problem is it get soggy depending on which dog you get. 4.Tater Tots - ehh...tasted like regular tater tots but still great to have on the side. 5.Cheese fries - very generous portions but fries were a lil burned. 6.Condiments - Iove love love this when restaurants do this. Everyone must go here atleast to try it. Seriously. I want to make a disclaimer that you just not be on any sort of diet or weight watching stint if you come here. Everything is super horrible for you but it is delicious. Their hotdogs are put into King's Hawaiian rolls, how's that for tempting? I get the grand slam which if I remember correctly has a couple of friend eggs, bacon & tater tots heaped atop the monstrous dog. So good. We tried a little of hot dog, sausage, and burger. All three were delicious! You could build your own or order their menu specialties. Since it was our first time, we ordered their menu items. I ordered the PIG AND THE FIG: emmentaler stuffed sausage, fig & onion relish, wild arugula, whole grain mustard, sliced almond, my nephew orderd the COWBOY: smoked bacon, white american cheese, crispy onions, bbq sauce, and my hubby ordered THE HANGOVER (with couble patty-Woa!): smoked bacon, haus chili, white american cheese, fried egg, mayo. Ordered the Pig and the Fig, Love Boat, and octoberwurst which was limited special. The pig and the fig was amazing. The sausage was very juicy and not overly salty. The fig relish was the highlight on the sausage and the aioli was not overwhelming. Totally surpassed my expectations. My boyfriend had the October special and it was amazing with the smoke gouda. I honestly don't see the difference between Dog Haus and Pink Hotdog. It has the same concept, with Pink Hotdog has way more combination. But Dog Haus is not that bad. It has some pluses too, like: 1. they use Hawaiian sweet rolls as the bun which, I swear!, enhances the flavor of what ever you order (hotdog or burger) 2. Their curry ketchup also tastes good 3. Nice-cute little (literally) joint 4. Good vibe & environment The funny thing, when we were there on Monday Memorial Day week end at 6:30pm, they told us that they were short of staffs. So around 7:30pm they did not accept anymore order and had to sent some of their just arrived unlucky guests home. But then around 8-ishpm, they decided to reopen. I just thought what they did is very unprofessional. If they were short on staffs, they need to tell their customer that the order gonna take longer than usual and give their customers a chance to decide whether they want to stay or go home. Closing the restaurant early and then reopen it seems show the lack of management. Ow.. That night I also saw that one of their cook burnt the fries and tossed it to the trash. hehehe.. But I must say, being a small Asian girl has its downfall when I try to sit on the tall book stands they use as seats for their large picnic tables. But! Once I get myself situated up there, I feel like Alice in Wurstland. Food: MY LORD. Is this why my parents moved to America all those years ago? In hopes of one day allowing their daughter to experience heart burn and artery clogs as a sort of euphoria? Please do yourself a huge favor and get the SOOO Cali hot dog. Casual, modern, and cheap. This place is kind of like Pink's without the wait and Wurstkuche in ambiance (but it's funner younger non hipster brother.) Oh, and the food aint bad either. ;) Dog Haus gets pretty creative with their hot dogs and they taste pretty good too. Most of the hot dogs on the menu were around $6. Last time I went I got chili cheese fries ($4.50) cause I wasn't that hungry and it was a generous portion. We ended up splitting it amongst 3 people. There's plenty of picnic table seating and I have yet to see this place packed. The food came out quickly as well. Also, there's free parking on the streets and they have a modest parking lot directly behind the building. No complaints here. read more

Yup, I was one of the 3,000+ people that bought a Living Social coupon ($5 to spend $10) for this joint. I was pretty excited about trying this place after looking through the pics on Yelp. But let's just say...they have very PHOTOGENIC hot dogs. I definitely wouldn't recommend coming here during busy dinner hours (especially on weekends) or in large groups. Dine-in seating is first come first serve. I came here on a Wednesday night around 9pm thinking there wouldn't be too many people there, but every possible seat in this place was taken. We got really lucky with our seats or else we would've had to get it to-go. My boyfriend ordered the Old Town and I got the Grand Slam. Both were at best mediocre. Flavor wise, I personally liked the Old Town better. The Grand Slam really disappointed me. Their sausages were unimpressive. We shared an order of cheese fries, which were on the dry side and very typical. Our order came out to a little over $17. Thanks to the coupon, we ended up paying only $12-ish. Let me just say I would NEVER come here and pay their dogs at full price. Only things I actually really liked about this place are their freshly chopped toppings, service was good, and their BOMBBB green hot sauce. Good food. More about the gimmick of each dog then being a "hot dog place." Had The Cowboy and The Grand Slam. They had equal goodness. I also had the sweet pie which is sweet potato tots topped with cheese butter and brown sugar...fatty! ! But good. They screwed up and gave us regular fries instead of regular tots as our second side, but I didn't take them down a notch for that. I just hope next time they actually replace them. Good god this place is a heart attack in a box that is SOOOOOO worth dying over. I love love LOVE the food here, and the whole ambiance of the place can only be described as totally laid back and cool. It's like going over to your best guy friend's house for a fun BBQ. Not just any guy friend though, but the one guy in your group of friends who is KNOWN for having a kick-ass BBQ. The one where EVERYONE you know shows up if he ever does throw a kick back at his place cuz you all know that the kick-back is SO going to be worth it...even if you are a lazy homebody like me. We also usually get the coleslaw (which is my attempt to make this meal "healthy"), and the tater tots (which are fried to perfection and not too greasy, but just oily enough to make them taste just so damn good). Very friendly service. Line was out the door but we managed to get in, order and have our food in under 20 minutes. My friend and I split the Little Leaguer and Scott Baoili. The little leaguer was exactly what you'd expect- yummy chili, like eating a chili size while watching a game. The Scott Baoili was as wonderful as the crush I had on it's namesake back in the 80's; I just couldn't get enough of it. The fries were fresh, hot, crisp and plentiful. The fries are made in house I believe and they're pretty good (FREE ORDER OF FRIES WITH YELP! CHECK-IN). Their hot sauces are spicy! Beware! They have this curry ketchup, very interesting flavor! Such a popping place, it's pretty popular. Parking can be tricky. I got the soo Cali hotdog which was pretty superb. Flavors were on point and presentation was cute! If you don't like spicy flavors though, you might not like the spicy basil aioli. read more

Excellent hot dogs! I love that they are skinless so they don't snap all nasty like Pinks. Amazing idea of using the Kings Hawaiian rolls as buns for both their hotdogs & their burgers. Oh what's that? They also have burgers? Yeah they do! And I'm just the expert to review! I actually come here for their burgers now more than pero calientes (hot dogs for you whiteys). This is a great end of the week, you know you shouldn't, but want to feel bad afterwards type burger. Just the proper amount of grease and fat to end your day in a good way. I love to get mine with an egg on top to make it a messy treat in my belly. Their May be internal dancing and fireworks afterwards but every tasty bite makes up for it. Holla! Dog Haus is BOMB. You just can't get a better dog in the SGV. The Sooo Cali dog is super phenomenal! My husband and I crave it on the regular. That combo of sweet Hawaiian bread, salty dog, cool and creamy avocado, crunchy onions and spicy basil aioli is off the charts delicious. Let me tell you about the only time I've ever given a $3 tip on a drink. I was visitingon a Groupon I had purchased. They have a full bar, and I ordered Booker's, neat. The bartender said "I think we have some in the stockroom, let me go check." A few minutes later he came back with a bottle and said "Sorry, we don't, but we have Baker's." I told him that would be fine. He said "Do you want a shot or in a rocks glass?" I said "Oh, a glass, please!" He smiled at me and said "Yeah. It's not college any more, is it?" I smiled, then said "Actually, if I were at home, I'd put it in a snifter." "Oh!" he said. "Would you like a snifter?" I said "You have a snifter? Sure!" He measured out 50ml of whiskey and poured it into the snifter. Then said "Nah, let's do this right." He transferred 2/3 of it back into the jigger, swirled the spirit around the inside of the glass, pulled out his pocket lighter, and ignited the spirit. It burned with a blue flame, warming the glass. When the flame had died, he poured the 2/3 shot back into the glass, then, without measuring, poured almost a full shot from the bottle into the warmed glass to make up for the spirit he had burned away. Oh, and the hot dog I ordered was delicious, too. So, if you're in Pasadena, stop by Dog Haus. I'm a huge fan now. read more

This is a long over due review and such a bummer because I actually really enjoy the food and service at all the other Dog Haus locations! So, just to clarify, this review is about THIS location and has absolutely nothing to do with the food (which is bomb) and has everything to do with the staff. Long story short, a few months ago my husband and I were picking up food and minding our own business. This person was sitting in the back of the restaurant with some of the Dog Haus staff who weren't busy. They were clearly friends with this person. This person was CLEARLY either SUPER drunk or on something and the Dog Haus staff were trying to keep this person quiet. Obviously, I looked at this person as he or she was making a scene. Next thing I know, this person is in my face, calling me names and then, I kid you not, the person PUNCHED me. I called the police and this person was arrested but the Dog Haus staff did NOTHING. They even tried to cover for this person. We will never go to this location again. A word of advice: perhaps there should be a staff training called "Friends don't let friends assault customers. read more

What a great place for hot dogs. It's cheaper than Wurstkuche and not as crazily busy, but the taste is as good. Not knowing what to expect, Hubby ordered 2 dogs. They were huge, and he only finished one. My Best of the Wurst was delish, basically a gourmet sausage + 2 toppings. I chose chicken parmesan sausage with sweet peppers & caramelized onions, and I got 2 sausages in a huge french roll. Their fries were wonderful too. Hubby couldn't stop praising the frito chili pie. This restaurant was everything I could have hoped for and more. I got the hangover, a chili cheeseburger with bacon and a fried egg. It was full of flavor and the sweet bread buns tasted amazing. My mom and sis, have been coming here and finally I got my chance. Yippie! This week must be Hot Dog week LOL. I had Carney's yesterday and now Dog Haus. Perfect timing, especially since we showed up 10 minutes before closing!!!! My sisters fault, assuming they stay open til 11 on a Friday, which they totally should. Oh well I gots mine anyway :p The service is great and the cashier was really nice. I was worried about having to rush eating since closing was around the corner and he said no I wouldn't kick you out LOL Good I'd hate to eat in my car haha. There are LOTS of options to choose from. A bit overwhelming for me for the first visit. So I kept it simple with sprinkle cheese ( thats right I call it sprinkle cheese lol) bacon and ketchup and mustard. My mom got it crunch and I don't remember her toppings and my sister, just ketchup ( oh boy the simpleton LOL) We also ordered some tater tots. Oh and I love their selection of glass soda. We sat down and waited for our order and it was brought to us (thank you boos) and I dove right in. It was yummy yummy and I like how they do it with king hawaiian rolls. If I had to choose, I still like my hot dogs best on a regular white bun. It can get dense in my tummy fast with 3 mini hawaiian rolls. Still tasted great and the bacon thick and peppered. I prefer apple smoked thick cut. The family enjoyed their food as well and the tater tots were just like being in school all over again , nice and fresh and crisp. I went here about 2 weeks ago with a group of friends. One of my friends has been trying to get me to go for a while so we finally went one Saturday for lunch. First off, get there early, the lunch crowd gets busy around noon. They use Hawaiian bread on the hotdogs and burgers, which makes them sweeter. They have neat combos like eggs and bacon on a hotdog, or the typical Downtown dog (bacon wrapped hot dog with peppers). They also have great fries too. The seats aren't the most comfortable but overall a good place to eat. read more

This place can get really packed. Just a good sign of how good this place is. I always get the Angus beef sliders. They don't place it in a regular bun its between Hawaiian bread bun. Such a great concept. The caramelized onions gives a bit more sweetness to it as well. The tator tots and sweet potato fries are my fave sides. Got to dip it in their aioli sauce.
