We can't be friends if you don't like sushi. And by sushi, I don't mean a California roll.. kidding :) Let's start with parking. They're located in a shopping center so you'll find a ton of parking! I did notice that the stalls were a wee bit small. Star for available parking! There wasn't any wait time for us. We were a party of 7 (4adults, 3 kiddos) So 1 star goes to being able to get seated right away. I don't remember our waitress's name but if I did, I woulda given her a shoutout. The next Star is for her! She was very attentive, checking on us every now and then. We ordered 4 bento boxes, Kalbi+chicken katsu, tonkatsu, spicy chicken teriyaki+nigiri and I forgot the other bento box. Also, a Julie Roll! Bento boxes came with miso soup, salad, a scoop of rice, 2 gyozas, veggie tempura and 4 pieces of a California roll. Everything was portioned perfectly. The last star goes to just "some" of the mentioned food. My husband told me that I'm a very judgey person when it comes to food. He's right... the tonkatsu was super dry and had no flavor and the spicy chicken teriyaki wasn't anything special. I have no complaints with the Julie Roll! There was a good amount of pieces for the price of the roll and they weren't chang on the fish. So that was a plus! read more

I went on a Saturday (around 3) with my family. There was no wait, probably because of the weird time, but we were seated and taken care of fairly quickly. They had a lunch special going on that my sister got (1/2 of a roll, choose 3) along with their usual menu. The food was awesome and the fish was great quality. The food came out very fast, but again, probably because it was at a weird time. It's pricey (especially for lunch) and each roll is about $14 so that's something to keep in mind. My only complaint was the sushi wasn't rolled very well and almost every piece would fall apart (pictured). This was happening to all of the party's rolls and made sharing really hard. We won't be back. At no point do they mention the "crab" is imitation. For $13 a roll, I want real ingredients. Not fake crab or dyed fake roe. Everything about this place screamed generic factory scrap. My suggestions for people who know what sushi is supposed to taste like. Drive to Gari of Sushi. The rolled are half the price and 100% better. Put that toll bridge to good use, visit someone who cares about the product they serve. Bummer though. Could have made a real customer tonight. We have been going to Domo's since they opened the door and have always had a 5-star experience. Even the takeout food has always been good. The takeout food we had last night was very subpar. We ordered 4-Dishes, and 2 of the dishes were Generals Tso's Chicken, and they are getting a 1-Star rating, and if I could, I would give the dish a Negative 2. The noodle dish was great, and the Sweet and Sour chicken was just OK. Having had these dishes at the restaurant, I always gave them 4.5 stars. The noodle dish was the standard 4.5 stars, but the sweet and chicken was 2.5 stars. This review is because of the General Tso's Chicken and the phone call I made. The Tso's Chicken dish was poorly made and was rushed. When my wife showed up, she paid for the meal, but then something happened. We don't know what happened, but they had to remake the food, so they say! No biggies mistakes occur in the kitchen all the time. When I looked upon the Tso's Chicken, I knew something was wrong. Note: I've eaten this dish at the restaurant maybe 12-15 x before, and I also make Tso's chicken myself. The portion size was minimal compared to the restaurant, the chicken and sauce lacked color, and the sauce was very thin. The entire dish was void of flavor. In my opinion, this is what I think happened. The Chef was rushed; he deep-fried the chicken and slopped on some sauce. The sauce was not reduced and tasted uncooked. The chicken lacked flavor and just tasted like deep-fried bread chicken and was not tossed back wok with sauce to continue developing flavors. I called and spoke with the front desk person who gave me to the manager. I told the manager all that I discussed above, and she talked to the Chef. The Chef, of course, said he did not rush, and voiced that this is always the way he prepares the recipe, and offered no apologies for our displeasure. The manager, although polite and kind, defended the Chef. They all know who I am because I frequent the restaurant very often, and they recognized my wife. I told them to relay to the owner and the Chef that I will never order takeout from them again. read more

In my humble opinion best sushi to date outside of the Seattle/Bellevue area hands down. This small, but nicely decorated sushi bar is located almost next to Lunchbox Laboratory in the same strip mall. Parking is pretty easy to find since the lot is pretty large, but enough of this. First thing I take notice of when walking into a sushi place is who is behind the counter, so I things were looking up from the beginning. Regarding the food, everything was really, really good. Wonton soup was large enough to share and tasted great. I am usually not a big soup guy, but I would order this all by itself next time. We ordered a variety of sashimi and rolls and like I mentioned the best I have had south of Seattle to date. Ok food is a little on the pricey side of things, but for the quality of food I am willing to pay for it. Service well I have had better, our waitress came over quickly, got us our green tea and waters. Food arrived shortly after that, but besides her checking on us once again for tea, that was it. My water ran empty and I stole my wife's; she never drinks hers anyways. So when it came time for us to get a check I had to make it obvious by looking around to get someone. Our waitress was still there but another waiter came by and asked us if we needed anything else. He was quick to provide us with a few boxes and the check. Take note it was about 1/3 full inside so not busy at all. Although everyone was very friendly. I give it Four Stars because I have been looking for good sushi close to my house and I am very happy that I found it. We eat out a lot and it is usually in Seattle, Tacoma and now Gig Harbor since we moved here. Maybe I am biased but it seems the further you get away from Seattle the quality of service starts to suffer. Gig Harbor has amazing food, but maybe because it is a quaint, quiet town folks are just more relaxed. Whatever for now the food is really good, it is close to my house so I am a pretty darn happy. I don't know how many times I've been in this shopping center many times and never noticed Domo Sushi. Thankfully, one of my friends invited here for dinner. My friend got there before me and got a table right away. I was promptly greeted by a sweet server who took my drink order. I asked if the had coconut aminos... and they did! This is the first sushi place that's had it. I usually bring my own but know in the future I can come here and not have to have a bottle in my purse. I ordered the crispy salmon skin roll and the red ice roll. I loved the crispy salmon skin roll. The other roll wasn't as cold as I would've liked it. The server also was helpful in ordering gluten/soy free with her recommendations. I ordered a dish to go for my kiddo and she loved it. Overall, I'd definitely come here again. Not bad at all! Came here for a family dinner by recommendation from two of us who had eaten here before. There were right! Even for a late dinner, freshness was king. I ordered fatty tuna and salmon sashimi, which I don't usually order because I find it too fishy generally speaking and they didn't have halibut which is what I normally get but I wanted to get those omega 3s in. To my surprise, both fishes were to die for. I also order miso soup which was just that as well as the appetizer portion of the vegetable tempura which was e-nor-mous! Our server was meh but it was either the owner or manager that was super friendly to us, probably because we had an entertaining baby at our table. I got a couple of rolls, the Spicy Tuna Roll and another spicy variety type roll and both were simply wonderful! Definitely one of the better sushi restaurants in the Tacoma area and it shows if you show up later and find yourself in a line! Also some great local beers on tap. A worthy stop! read more

Used to come here regularly for lunch but now only occasionally come by. I'm a huge sushi fan and love this place. I could eat sushi daily. Never disappointed here. Pros: consistently good sushi, good service, good sake. I'm never really disappointed here. It is not the best sushi ever, but it is consistently good sushi. I would happily recommend this place and am always happy to eat here. Cons: the restaurant has been around a while and could use some repairs. Example: the tables are like a leather surface covered in glass. The leathery stuff is falling apart on a lot of tables.but otherwise I have no complaints. Please note I dont really eat anything here but sushi so I have no idea how the teriyaki items are. Although friends have gotten it before and have never heard anything bad about it. Going Downhill. We've visited Domo several times. Last year when we first dined there, the food was very good and fresh! Since then, the consistency isn't there and a good dish is very hit and miss. Our most recent visit was a total bust. We first noticed a 'Now Hiring' sign on the front door, looking for wait staff. We should have taken that as a clue and turned around and left. Sadly, we went in anyhow. Our server was friendly, and they weren't overly busy. We were served our beverages and ordered our dishes. In the next 5-10 mins, a different server tried to serve us 2 different dishes that we didn't order (they belonged to another table). Eventually our actual orders came out. The food: The rice was dry and not fresh. My husbands General Tsao's (breaded) chicken was dirty-oily and overcooked. My tempura also had an old dirty-oil taste and was also overcooked. When I mentioned this to my server, she hurriedly stated that she'd have them remake mine, and she rushed away. She didn't even take the time to hear that my husbands was also bad. I also wanted to emphasize that we believe the oil being used was older and wanted to inquire if there was a fresher batch of oil (or if we could order something not fried instead). The owner came over shortly after to check with us which allowed us to voice all the qualms. This upset the server who then proceeded to argue with the owner in clear view/hearing proximity of us. This made me feel very uncomfortable. The owner was very apologetic and they did remake our dishes much better the second time around. This however did not ammend the catastrophe we experienced and the food was still not worth the price. I'd rather travel to the Tacoma side and/or up toward Seattle for my sushi from now on. I doubt we'll be heading back to Domo with their service and food quality degrading. read more

We came here on a Friday night expecting a wait. My Sister in law has been her a few times before, and said there is usually a wait, and also there has been times they were so busy they decided not to wait. We got lucky, and maybe had a 5 minute wait time if that. It was still a packed house. They have a large selection of sushi to chose from, and also the beer selection is really good. I had a hard time deciding on getting a bento box, or the Vegas rolls. I settled on a bento box. My Sister in law really likes their rainbow rolls. My guy had the General Tsao's chicken, and my Brother in law had the Mongolian beef. Everyone was very satisfied with their order. I think if we were to return I am going to go with the Vegas rolls, or something different. I chose the teriyaki chicken in my bento box, it was average. The rest was good. I have had better at other sushi places. Not saying that this place is bad, I am just saying I have had better. The service was on point, and the waitresses are very personable. Love this place!! Sushi here is always so freshly made. We always order the "playboy roll" and their bentos. The bentos come with a salad, California roll, vegetable tempura and your choice of entrees. They also serve you miso soup prior to getting your food served. Customer service is always great here and they're never usually busy when going here for lunch. I know it gets busy at nights though. Parking is available right out front which makes it convenient. A surprisingly upscale suishi resteraunt next to Michaels. Don't let the small storefront keep you from going in, it's very modern and roomy. Outdoor seating and very clean in and out. Service was fast and friendly food portions were average for the price. We got the heart attack which was very good, also we got the Gig Harbor roll, very tasty and we'll made. The fastest way to spot a GREAT Sushi bar is the Ginger. Ginger isn't pink. The Sushi is almost as good as I Love Sushi in Bellevue. Salad was Perfect, Miso Soup was fresh and hot. SHASHImi was spot on with great presentation. The Eel was great but I didn't like their choice sauce. I also ordered the baked Lobster which was a first for me.
