1st time checking this place out during their soft opening. Saw it on Yelp and figured why not. The vibe was alright, nothing too crazy cute spot but the ambience didn't really stand out. Service was kinda meh. We had to keep asking back and forth just to get utensils, which got a little annoying. I get it's a soft opening, so hopefully they'll smooth things out as they go. Price-wise... yeah, it's definitely on the pricey side. I wouldn't mind if the service and atmosphere matched, but right now it feels a little off balance. Recently changed to Don Blanc-- had high expectations of the Korean BBQ, but the experience and food was mediocre. We ordered the intestine combo as well as the pork belly. The pork belly was not the style that I liked, it ended up getting dried up and chewy as you grilled it. I also really did not like that they grilled with the pine leaf. I'm sensitive to this smell, and I hated how all the meat smelled like pine. Intestine combo was good, but the portions are on the smaller end. It's definitely not enough for a party of two, and they unfortunately do not have a large size. I'd only come here for their intestine, I don't think the other meat options are worth it. read more

I saw a Instagram reel focused on this new Korean BBQ spot in South Bay and was super excited to try it. My partner and I went for an early dinner on a Friday evening and were lucky to get seated immediately. This place is more casual and some of the other KBBQ restaurants in the area but it's still very tasty. My partner and I shared the spicy Korean marinated crab, the fresh pork belly and the LA galbi. The meal also included a free kimchi stew. Both of the meats were incredibly tender and juicy. However, the LA galbi was a little too sweet. The service was attentive and the servers frequently refilled our banchans. Even though it was soft opening, I have nothing negative to say in regard to their service. If you like pork belly and spicy marinated crab, I would definitely suggest giving Don Blanc a try. I never got around to trying the Don Blanc Oakland location, so when I heard a second location opened in Sunnyvale with convenient strip mall parking- I had to try it! We walked in during Soft Opening for dinner at 6 and had no wait. Towards the end of our meal, there was a line out the door so I'd come earlier to grab a dinner table quickly. We tried the LA Galbi and Brisket- both tasted average and had nothing unique or outstanding in taste. This newer Korean restaurant was at the top of my list for places to go to ever since they opened, because I had heard a lot of good things about their Oakland location. Overall the experience here was really nice. The experience felt really authentic with a great variety of delicious banchan and the meat is presented in a really nice way as well. The brisket was delicious and the bibim naengmyeon was also really nice(not too spicy). The only issue I had was with the boneless short rib, or the "premium snowflake meat". The cut on it unfortunately had a bit of tendon/cartilage which made the pieces uncharacteristically crunchy rather than soft or tender. However, I brought up this issue with the manager and he was quick to test it out himself and get a replacement for the meat. The replacement was much better, and I am very glad he was understanding of the situation. If I were to base everything off of the original meat, I'd give it a 3./5, however because the manager got us different meat, I'd give the experience a 4.8/5. It is a bit pricey however for the quality it is understandable. read more

We decided to order the Supreme Combo Set B which comes with prime brisket, duroc premium pork belly, snowflake premium boneless galbi, and prime lip on ribeye. There is a choice of kimchi or soybean stew. We picked kimchi stew. Our favorite meats were the prime brisket and snowflake premium pork belly. We added on a seafood pancake which was delicious and had a lot of seafood. Our waitress was attentive with cooking it our meats and refilling side dishes and water. I'm not sure if it's because of the package we ordered but they even cooked it for us took the whole work out of who ever we deem our parties cook to accidentally burn the meat lol. Not sure what's holding them to not sit more people. Once seated, the service was slow. Considering this is KBBQ and they only had to bring out raw meat, it's unacceptable. Again, a lot of servers doing nothing. We ordered the premium expensive items, the snowflake rib and monster angus rib. It was good quality, but for the price it was just okay. Portion was small too. Considering the numerous KBBQ restaurants in the area, there is no reason to visit this place. There are way too many options out there with better meat, better service, and better price. The business is competitive and I don't think they cut it. I will not go back and won't recommend this place to anyone Also the equipments they have look pretty outdated. The food was very mid and nothing special, especially for that price. Beef was seasoned on the sweeter side and the tofu soup was okay. Our server cooked our food for us but this wasn't communicated to us and it was extremely awkward, since we didnt know what was going on. They didn't make conversation at all or explain anything which made the dinner extremely uncomfortable and awkward. We paid a total of $200 with tip for the meal for 3. We ordered beef set B. the quality was good for 3 people. The side dishes are good (like almost every korean restaurants). The meats were juicy and tasty. That said, I found the quality of the meats a little inferior than 10 Butchers while the price is similar to 10 Butchers (perhaps a little bit less expensive). I'd prefer 10 Butchers over this. The interior looks like a typical authentic korean joint - it is definitely not fancy like 10 Butchers. I personally wouldn't go back, not because it is bad, just because I'd rather go to 10 Butchers and pay a little bit more. Still enjoyed it though! read more

We came here because we love intestine dishes and have tried so many places in the Bay Area and SoCal. Unfortunately, this restaurant was a huge disappointment. They don't seem to drain the oil properly -- when the dish came out, it was bubbling and splattering everywhere! It actually felt unsafe to eat, and we had to back away from the table to avoid getting burned. On the positive side, the staff were very nice and responsive when we mentioned the problem. They tried to help and even offered to drain the oil afterward. Still, this seems like a serious preparation issue that could cause injuries. For your own safety, I'd recommend avoiding this place until they fix how they handle hot oil dishes. read more

They cook for you here so you can just sit back and relax a little bit. Service was top notch, the lady working here gave us great suggestions for food and helped make our experience. Their banchan was good. My favorite was the onion salad and their apple cucumber carrot salad. Service was 10/10. All meat was cooked perfectly. Ambiance 10/10. By the time we were done eating, the soup still didn't come out. When we asked, the server apologized again. We asked for the check and asked for the soup to go. I understand they are still in the soft opening phase, but it should not take that long to make a simple soybean soup. The price overall for the food was on the higher end. Came here with the family yesterday and ordered the ddukbokee, kimchi fried rice, raw marinated crab (appetizer portion), and jumuluk (boneless) kalbi. I was pleased to see fair prices for kbbq which is rare in the bay. The food was pretty good but I got severe food poisoning from the raw crabs. I eat this dish a lot at other restaurants and this is the first time I have gotten sick. I noticed when eating the dish, the marinade was good but the crab itself was not at the right temperature (it was warmer than I'm used to) and the meat was soggier and less firm texturally than other places. Also, a lot of the legs were full of juices instead of meat, which should have been a red flag for me to stop since it was clear the crab was either not fresh or had spoiled under warmer than recommended temperatures. However, I finished it and paid for it dearly overnight with food poisoning. It has been 24 hours and I am still experiencing symptoms. That said, I would recommend this place for everything else but the crabs. If management is reading this, PLEASE follow food safety guidance and keep your crabs at the appropriate temperature and DISPOSE OF OLD INVENTORY so your patrons don't get sick! read more
