When you want Cajun-Mexican fusion close to downtown but don't expect polish, Dos Bocas fits the bill. I booked a reservation for an early dinner (5:30 p.m.) and quickly realized I didn't need one--almost no one was there. The setup is a bit unusual: a cantina-style bar at street level and then an elevator ride up to the main dining room. Location is convenient if you're staying downtown, but the experience itself leaned mixed. Service & Atmosphere * Greeting felt more casual than professional--friendly enough, but not polished * Dining room and high chair weren't very clean, which set a poor first impression * Vibe overall felt like a basic sports-bar-meets-casual-cantina rather than a destination spot Food & Drink * Po' Boy - flavorful and satisfying; highlight of the meal * Fajita Cajun Shrimp - well-seasoned, solid execution * Fries - crisp and tasty * Local Beer on Tap - good selection, easy pairing with the food Verdict Food here is the strong suit--simple, tasty Cajun-Mexican fusion that hits the spot if you're in the area. But uneven service and cleanliness issues hold it back. Think more "bar food with Cajun spice" than a polished dining experience. Worth it for a quick bite or carry-out, but not a go-to for a memorable night out.

After finishing a 3hr visit at the Georgia aquarium, we walked around for nearby restaurants to explore downtown Georgia to satisfy our hunger. We tried to go to a couple of places but there were at least 25-30min waits for a table. Then, we walked down the street and saw Dos Bocas with no line. This should've been a sign about how the restaurant really is. Our host/server immediately sat us at a table and gave us chips and salsa. We looked for our menu items we were going to order and did not see our waitress again for another 10 mins until we ordered our food. There were probably 2 other parties there before we sat down, but we somehow were waiting for 35+ mins for our food to come. The worst part was that another party that sat after us with the same number of people that ordered the same items as us got their food first. I figured they forgot to put in our order but other reviews are stating that this also happened to them in the past. It would've been nice to have more updates with our waitress of where our food was. Though I feel like my hunger might have made me sound more impatient, I wouldn't be as harsh if the food was actually good. My shrimp po boy was lacking in flavor and the bread was very dense, making it a hard sandwich to eat. The batter on the shrimp was also just okay, but fell off too easily when eating. The nacho toppings were not evenly distributed. The quesadilla was like any other one that I tried. Definitely not worth the price and would not recommend. A skip in my opinion.

Was here in Atlanta for a conference. It was 10 min walk from springhill suites. It is also very close to the Georgia Congress center. There was no wait to be seated. They have tables on both floors and have patio seating. It is also right across from the aquarium. Fast service. I enjoyed the catfish entree. The beignets satisfied my craving. They are also open late til 10pm.

After spending the afternoon at the Coco Cola Museum my family and I were a lil hungry. Dos Bocas was right was near by and with no wait. Now we were all skeptical given that the restaurant was tex-mex/ Cajun. They brought out the complimentary chips and salsa....banging!!! It like the chips were seasoned with some sort of Cajun seasoning!! The salsa was nice, flavorful as well. My toddler was had his cup of salsa to himself he enjoyed it so much. I got the appetize chicken quesadilla deluxe with a side Cajun shrimp. That shrimp( not pictured)j was soo good. The batter was nicely seasoned and had great crisp!! The remoulade very nicely balanced, a tasty bit of spice and very slightly tart. Soo good. This quesadilla!! This was supposed to be a appetizer!! It was soo big i couldn't finish. Filled with perfectly seasoned chicken, a nice cheese pull!! Soo good. It was such a great snack later that night lol!! Our whole party was pleasantly pleased with the food. Cons: it took a awhile for our food to come out but the staff was and kept us informed. So if you are near the coca cola museum or the Atlanta Aquarium i high recommend!! They have an upstairs and downstairs, there was no wait for us !!

So good we ate here twice during our stay. Natalie and Jolee our servers were great and Adrian, the service manager made sure we were taken care of. Can't say enough about the friendly service. The food was fresh and good also. And....The jalepeno Margaritas made by Charleston the bartender were the star of the show!!

I had been to Dos Bocas a while back when they first opened but hadn't been back since, so it was nice to have a second experience. Sat at the bar downstairs and was greeted right away by Bre. She was so pleasant, professional, and attentive. She immediately brought me some chips and salsa and I ordered the Enchilada Verde and the house Margarita (Avenue C Margarita). The enchiladas were very good (I like extra sauce and spicy so added some salsa and Valentina which kicked it up a notch). The rice was ok and the charro beans tasted more like chili than charro so minus one star for that. I also ordered a Lonestar Margarita and that was good as well. I must say in this economy, I really appreciate Mexican restaurants that provide guests with complimentary chips and salsa. All in all, this was a good experience so I would consider coming back. I just wish the restaurant could come to an arrangement with the parking company where diners can get their ticket validated or discounted to park in the attached deck as the rates are a bit high.

My wife and I recently visited Atlanta and stayed at the Omni hotel. After a couple of days we decided that we needed something different like old fashioned Tex Mex and then we discovered Dos Bocas within walking distance from the hotel, just on the other side of Centennial Park and we were pleasantly surprised. Dos Bocas is sort of a combined Tex Mex/Cajun place, just like we enjoyed when we were living on the Texas Gulf Coast. The salsa with chips was better than average and our entrees were great. I had the shredded beef Enchiladas De La Casa and my wife had the Char Grilled Mahi Mahi. Very good eating at a reasonable price. The next time we're in Atlanta we'll be back.

My love had the fajitas. I thought they needed more seasoning... but she said she liked that they were not too salty.

We gave Dos Bocas I'll try... Because it was across the way from the aquarium. Nice surroundings, but nothing overly memorable. The food was good. And the service was very good. We had a really really good waitress. Very friendly and kept the glasses full.

Bartender was very nice, waitress ignored us. We asked for chips and she never brought it and completely ignored us while she took everyone else around us. Had to flag her down to order more, and that was after 20 mins of waiting for our chips we never got. Long wait, food is simply okay. Just skip this place and go somewhere else! read more

Went during Dragon Con 2022. Super fast service during dinner hours with a party of 5. The food was excellent, the wait staff was really courteous, and the atmosphere is busy and really nice. Regret not getting their chicken. The cat fish is really tender and delicious. read more

To be upfront the food was on the expensive end for what you got. My adult taco plate was the same tacos on the children's plate. The adobo wings had good flavor but it was different than what you would expect. The beef on the nachos was good (same beef in the tacos) but the cheese was lacking in flavor. My margarita was good, it was the prickly pear margarita (or something like that). As a parent I'm not a fan of there being multiple exits to the bathroom but that's just how the building is. Servers were nice and so was the rest of the staff. They were all very polite. read more

Don't waste your time. Definitely not worth dang near $140 for 3 ppl plus a child. Only thing good about this place was the chips and guac. I tried the gumbo and that was yuck! One of my kids had tacos and he was not impressed. My husband had the fried fish and he said it taste like salt water. read more

We came here before an event at the aquarium for a quick dinner. I was never told that the upstairs and downstairs have totally different menus and we were seated downstairs. Service was slow but understandable if they are understaffed. The menu downstairs is quite limited in options but we both found something to eat. The food was not bad but also wasn't highly impressive. Next time we know to sit upstairs with the full menu! read more

Robert was a great server he made sure to take care of my large party. Sara the manager went the extra mile and went above and beyond to resolve an issue with our dinner. Food is disgusting, shrimp is over cooked not deveined. All my juices spilled out, and nasty today. Very upset, Went for my birthday and good was great today it was horrible. So disappointed because the service on November 21 was excellent, but today this is unacceptable. Chris the GM to called me back after Ryan the manager spoke to him they refund our money back and gave us a gift card. Chris was so professional and service was great with him. Love how Ryan and Chris was personal and very professional plus listened and honored is as customers. Definitely recommend Doc Bocas. read more

Disgusting don't go, if you want Mexican go anywhere but here. The "queso" is stadium nacho cheese. Tasted like velveeta-- the extra chorizo in the cheese is a sprinkle for TWO DOLLARS EXTRA. Waste of time and money. If I could give 0 stars I would.... read more

We came here after going to the Aquarium across the street and this place was surprisingly delicious. We got margaritas which were made just right (thank you Mr Bartender) and our food was excellent. Quentin, our waiter was so awesome. Give that young man a raise. He makes Dos Bocas look real good to its customers. We'll be back one day. And please start serving the full menu and not just a skimmed down version of it. Bring back the flan! read more

We came by here for a late lunch and sat at the bar. The service from Micah was by far the best we've had during our trip in Atlanta. We had the gumbo which was great and the serving was generous. The drinks were also delicious. Would definitely visit again. read more

Please note they close at 9 but that means last sitting is at 8:30pm. I called and no one mentioned that even though I'm stay at the hotel right above. So we got the meals to go. Overall tasty. Don't recommend the Beef enchiladas for the cost it is definitely not worth what little you get. Fajitas were amazing, so was the queso chips and salsa. Kids meals were good for $8. I'd go back. Just wish they post last sitting at 8:30. read more

I wasn't impressed. Service was very slow. Food was just OK. Ordered the fajitas. Tasted good but no avocado, small portion of sour cream. My son ordered tacos. He was brought the kids taco which was just plain. We asked for the toppings (lettuce and tomatoes) by the time it came out he was done and I had given him the side that came with mine. Maybe we went on a bad day but I was expecting a lot more. read more

Poor service and hit or miss food. Ordered the crawfish etouffee as an appetizer and the blackened catfish. Our food took a while to come out and our server let us know it was coming shortly. We weren't in a hurry , so not too worried. Then he brought both the appetizer and entree out at the same time. One of my larger annoyances when it comes to dining out. Why order an appetizer if it doesn't come before the meal. Anyway, the etouffee was super good; i loved it. But the catfish, was the worst I've ever had. No seasoning and just burnt to be blackened. Then we had to wait a while (20 minutes) for our check and a box while our server finished their cleaning duties read more

My colleagues and I decided to give this place a try. We were visiting from California. We had great food and awesome service. Jeff was our server and explained the concept of the restaurant along with the menu. He warned us that portions were big and he didn't lie. Tried this place for the first time today. The combination of TexMex and Cajun caught may attention. I only had drinks and appetizers but I am convinced that will go back. The Napoleon Shrimp were delicious! Red beans and rice were spicy for my preference but good! Great place if hanging in Centennial Park or bar hopping in this area. Bartender was cool! read more

Overpriced food. You can go to Chuys and get more with better quality for less. Also service wasn't that great. The bartender rather spend time talking to the servers than checking in on us. Plus we were overcharged and when the ticket was changed it still wasn't the meal we asked for. I say try one of the other hundred restaurants in the area read more

It's a little tricky finding the place and getting situated with parking, but overall this place was amazing! I came in for the first time a few weeks ago and enjoyed my experience from the time I walked in and out. I had a wonderful server, her name was Tay. She helped me through the menu, highlighting restaurant favorites menu items alongside with her own. She was very attentive and really made me enjoy my time. The drinks and food were great with no complaints. They also validate parking as well. I look forward to dining in with this establishment again. read more

This place was horrible. I don't usually give bad reviews and really, how can you mess up Mexican food? By opening cans, dumping it onto plates and charging money. The chicken quesadilla, the chicken was so dry it was tough. There was so little cheese and the tortillas were like cardboard. The salsa had no taste, it had the texture of tomato paste. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We were greeted right away & all the staff was so kind. Our server JEFF was awesome & super attentive! We were also visited by 3 managers during our visit & they were all so genuine & down to earth! We loved the vibe in this place! BUT THE FOOD, absolutely phenomenal! We were informed of their big portions before we ordered. My Mom & I shared a Monterey Bowl & some chips & queso.. extremely decent pricing as well!! We walked out with full bellies! This is a nice mix of Cajun and Tex Mex. When we first sat down we were greeted with chips & salsa, always a nice touch! My husband ordered a Shrimp Po'Boy and I ordered the Enchiladas Verde. We were a little skeptical on how the food would be since it's an interesting pairing. But we were pleasantly surprised! The food was very good, the shrimp was overflowing on my husband's sandwich! The margarita wasn't the greatest. It's from a standard frozen machine and wasn't anything special. We did have some complaints, with being told a few times that they were out of things. We also ordered a children's meal for our daughter, they were out of french fries and ice cream - both of which were specified on the menu as included. At that time, the server told us they'd only been opened a few days and didn't have everything in stock. I wish we would've been given another dessert option or a discount for the misprint on their part. If it wasn't for this I would give higher marks. read more

Bam! This place is great! Stopped in here tonight for a bite...was not disappointed. Our server Tamara was great, but the food and drinks were the real star. Wifey had the beef tacos and I had the cast iron chicken with to die for red beans and rice. Also had a few Lonestar margaritas. All was perfect. Teh blackened chicken was fantastic. the red beans and rice were phenomenal. Stop here if you can...you will not be disappointed! read more

Excellent restaurant! I sat at the full-service bar and had a very tasty Hurricane and some delicious jambalaya. The staff was friendly and a manager even stopped to introduce herself and ask me what I was reading (I was by myself) and we chatted about books briefly. I would definitely make a return trip next time I'm in the area. read more

The salsa and cheese queso with chorizo are amazing My family and I stopped in for dinner and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the Verde Enchiladas- they're made with corn tortillas and tasted amazing. The service (we were served by "Z") was great! It's been a while since we have been to a place that was accommodating and everyone was genuinely kind. The atmosphere is just like being at home. The restaurant had a great vibe and was perfectly located near the Atlanta Children's Museum, Georgia Aquarium, and Centennial Park super convenient to everything we had planned.
