I asked for to go boxes, never came so I had to go up front and ask again. I mean, I'm fine if you can't make crispy tacos with a specific meat, just tell me while I'm ordering and I'd choose something else. They got 2 out of the 4 orders wrong, the drink machine wasn't working (everyone was thirsty), the "fixed" order was wrong, and it was a struggle to get to go boxes just to get out of there. Dos Coyotes is an icon for anyone who went to UC Davis and I half jokingly think they decided to expand to San Ramon because the huge network of UCD alumni in the area would get this location off to a good start. Many of our Davis friends in the area have stopped by for a bit of nostalgia and the decor and set up made me do a double take and wonder if I was in the Davis location at the Marketplace... everything looked the same, including seeing a girl from my econ classes that I hadn't seen since I graduated many moons ago! My wife and I got a Mahi burrito and a shrimp burrito, which we loved when we were in Davis. Tasted exactly the same. The food here is definitely more of a southwestern style and flavor- if you're looking for "authentic" Mexican, you'll be disappointed. SALSA BAR **** Form the salsa bar, I got myself a mild pico de gallo and pasilla chile salsa (green color) since I can't take really spicy stuff anymore. Pasilla chile salsa had this slow and steady spiciness to it, but didn't pack a punch (in gaming terms: this DPS has sustained damage, but not burst). Even mild pico de gallo could have a punch because it still got jalapeños, just not as much. SERVICE **** My food came out fast and was delivered by the same cashier. When I finished, it was also taken away by the same person. Staff was professional. FOOD **** I ordered the Green Chile Enchiladas with pulled pork. So happy the finally opened a location in the Tri-Valley! For the longest time I was driving up to Davis to get my "Dos Fix", and then when the Concord location opened last year, I didn't have to drive as far. The San Ramon location is a great location for folks in the Tri-Valley and even South Bay. The restaurant is located to the right of Sprouts grocery store. I called in my togo order on a Sunday and went to pick it up. The line was about 30 people deep! I stood in line for about 10 minutes before I realized they were using the last, unmarked, register for togo orders. Please place a sign indicating that's here togo orders can be paid for/picked up at. My goto is their Spicy chicken Ranchero Burrito a la carte plus sour creme. I've had it in a burrito bowl style over salad and the standard way, wrapped in a burrito. The tomatoey, cheesy sauce is to die for. I love dipping my tortilla chips in the sauce! The meat is so flavorful with a very nice char taste. The salsa bar is generous, although the serving spoons are so shallow! I love their famous green sauce but you can't go wrong with any of the picos or guac. There's plenty of parking since it shares the same lot as Orchard Supply Hardware, Sprouts, and many other strip mall restaurants. Last night my wife and I tried the newly opened Dos Coyotes Border Café in San Ramon. Located next to Sprouts they took over the space vacated by Ruggies. We've had Dos Coyotes years ago in Davis. At 6:45 pm the lines were out the door and just shows how much the San Ramonites are in need of some new restaurant options. (Other then Pizza). Dos Coyotes is suffering from " newly opened " blues. 3 stars with room to improve. DCBC is like a large Baja Fresh/La Salsa but with real plates, forks and glassware. Order at the cashier, get a number with a stand, find a table, runners bring your meal. You still have to get your own utensils, drinks, salsa, and and napkins. DCBC has a liquor license and has a Hornitos Margaritas for $5 which we ordered. Issue # Did not get my margarita so I had to go back to the counter and get it. It didn't bother me that a teenager who helped me , made and served my margarita but I know the Alcohol Beverage Control would take issue with this. There is a bar/counter but no one can sit there because the lines to order snake around it. Issue #2 We did not get the guacamole and chips, went back and the manager was brought it out a short time later. He apologize and said they should have given it to me at the counter right after payment. The food was Ok we ordered the mahi mahi, shrimp and DCBC original beef tacos. Each taco was piled high with veggies which was a good thing. Bad was the guacamole which was salty and this was confirmed with the nice couple we sat next to during dinner. Issue #3 The cups provided for the salsa are tiny flimsy paper ketchup cups that make it impossible to dip your chips into. Prices are ok and there are plenty of staff working. Service is minimal. Plenty of parking in the large shopping center. Even with the growing pains the residents of the Tri- Valley welcome the new players in the restaurant business. read more

We love Dos Coyotes. The food when they get the order correct is delicious. And I have restrained from writing a bad review because I understand that they've had high staff turnover during Covid. But for months now with take out orders that have consistently messed up our orders. Today has just left me so frustrated that I'm leaving a review in the hope they do something. Here's how the meal is described on the menu: Two tacos with griddled potatoes, cheese, green chile, guacamole, sour cream, cilantro ranch cabbage slaw, flour tortilla and green onion. Includes tacos, rice, black beans, chips and salsa bar. The scant amount of small pieces of potato were thin, soft and mushy. I had to really look for them! All of the toppings ran together so I couldn't taste anything distinctly. The flour tortillas tasted like they hadn't been heated at all. This is a simple meal that could have been a lot better. Dos Coyotes is a large, festive Tex-Mex restaurant opening up next door to Sprouts San Ramon. Overall, I was very impressed by the ambiance, good service, salsa bar, and yes the food. The style is similar to Chipotle but with a much larger menu - order, take a seat, and they'll bring you your food. We ordered: 1. Tres Tacos - Three double wrapped flour tortillas with your choice of toppings. My wife got original pulled pork (5 stars - good outer sear and seasoned), shrimp (5 stars - decent sized shrimp and cooked perfectly), and mahi mahi (2 stars - way under-seasoned). 2. Red Chile Chicken Enchiladas - Excellent dish (5 stars). The grilled chicken had nice texture and that red chile sauce really added a nice tangy flavor. Good amount of cheese too. One surprisingly good side was the refried beans - they still retained some nice texture and were very tasty. The Salsa bar is a very nice touch - they have like 8 different styles ranging in color, textures, and spiciness. Most dishes come with some crispy nachos, but that salsa bar almost tempted us to order additional chips! Although I own Chipotle stock, I think I actually like the food at Dos Coyote better. We are happy to have Dos Coyotes come to San Ramon! We dined in a Dos Coyotes only once before in Davis as we headed home from Tahoe to San Ramon, and we really liked it. I was happy to eat here for lunch today and find that it's as good as I remembered their other location to be. The restaurant is a very good size, and since it's a order at the front and sit down restaurant, I think that most times we will come we won't need to wait for a table. Their location next to Sprouts also lends it to more parking spaces during peak lunch hours since the other side of the plaza gets too busy with too many eateries clustered together. The kid's options are very good, and well priced (from $3-about $5). My son had the kids burrito and chips, and nearly finished it all. I had the enchilada dish and my husband had a burrito - and we all were very happy with the portion size and the flavors. My husband's margarita was not big, but it was strong so they did it skimp on the alcohol. The salsa bar was great, and my son loved the drink machine (of course). This will be a great dining option for us, especially after school and sporting events! read more

When this first opened, I was a big fan and appreciated the management''s commitment to giving back to schools. The food was always just okay here but the customer service and values of the restaurant made up for a lot of that. Fast forward a few years and all that's left is the hollow shell of a restaurant with no heart, terrible customer service, and mediocre food at best. The food has always been so-so here as I said. They serve typical Tex-mex, non-authentic, Americanized Mexican food. I will still f*ck with that though but the quality has been going down in recent years. To compound the issues, they seem to only hire snarky servers who have no interest in actually serving anyone. After a couple of bad experiences in the past year with rude servers, subpar food, and messed up orders, my family and I have stopped going here. And why wouldn't we stop? There are so many better alternatives. Every single taqueria in the area runs circles around this place. I don't even understand how businesses like this continue to operate. Several months ago, I left their catering department several voicemails - you can't get catering help from anyone in the actual restaurant and will be directed to call a separate number. The event was for 120 people and I never got so much as a call back despite multiple voicemails. I hope the owner reads this and holds accountable the people who've ruined this restaurant. read more

Despite that issue, the food is always fresh and made quickly. Staff is generally friendly. And the variety of the salads at the salsa bar is on point. I have been eating at Dos since my college days in Davis, it's been pretty consistent in terms or quality and quantity. I almost always order the steak southwest burrito since I like the quality of meat with the fresh salsa and guac. However, this location in San Ramon seems to skimp out on amount of meat, to point of being all tortilla. I first thought maybe it was just that one time but after a couple of times, I notice the burrito was getting smaller than the last visit. The most recent visit was ridiculously small (see the pictures I attached). I think the only thing that's still good is their salsa bar. Got no salsa at all. my 18 dollar shrimp burrito didn't have beans and I had to pay an extra dollar something for rice. So if I didn't add that(which made it a 20 dollar burrito) it would have been unseasoned shrimp wrapped in a tortilla. All 3 burritos we ordered had dry meat and no beans or rice and the quesadilla was as thin as a piece of paper and cost 13 dollars. Do not waste your time ordering from here.
