Ate here tonight with my family on their inaugural evening. The place is bright and very clean (of course). It's fast casual Southwest/New Mexico-style cuisine so you order at the counter and they give you a number for your table. I ordered the Red chile enchilada plate, my wife ordered two tacos one with green chile and one with red chile and my son ordered the vegetarian tostada (beans, rice lettuce and cheese). The red and green chile sauces are true to the New Mexico. The people were fast and friendly. We loved our food and will be coming back for sure. Not a fan, first time here and probably the last time. Would prefer a real Mexican restaurant. Walked in early to grab a some drinks and chips & guac. The chips were not that great, chips seemed a little stale. The drinks were decent, can't ruin a draft beer. I then went up to order dinner and the line was 4 people deep. It took over 15 minutes, way to long. One of the workers took her time to fill up her water bottle with ice and water while we were waiting, leaving only one person working the cashier stand. After I got my order in, no one else was waiting. Probably a better time to fill up a water bottle... Ordered Fajita salad and tacos. My wife liked her salad but I was not impressed with the tacos or the meat on her salad. My tacos were cold. The Mahi Mahi was overcooked and cold. On the other taco, there was plenty of steak but not too flavorful and not quality steak, same as the salad. Both tortillas were not cooked and fell apart when I picked them up. read more

I was really curious about this place as it got such high ratings and the lines are always so long. Thanks to another yelper I opted out to order to go using their online ordering on their website. It's so easy to use their order form and to customize your food and drinks. The only downside is that they don't have the kids menu on the website (but no biggie). Our food was done within 10-15min. Hubby was able to skip the long line and just squeeze to the front and pick up our food (some gave him the dirty look! But hey... should have ordered online to skip the wait in line!) We ordered the southwest burrito, cheese and chicken quesadilla (for the kids) and yukatan chicken salad. First of all. The portions are very, very generous and it will fill your belly! Second of all. The ingredients were fresh and overall it tasted great! Finally! Come on ppl. our boring Tri Valley of very limited food places needed this very badly!! My family LOVES this place! We've been twice and I've had the same thing - crispy tacos - I like the shells they come in and how they don't skimp on the meat! The rest of my family tried "new" things both times and were also very happy with each meal. Food is good but nothing to write home about. The flavor on most of it was great but some things lacked and i guess my biggest complaint was that it lacked any true Mexican flavor. Tasting more americanized and generically bland than even Chipotle. The salsa bar was a great addition and had some pretty good salsa but the sweet one tasted much like a Chinese sweet sauce and one of the salsa choices tastes like straight canned tomato sauce with salt and pepper. So did their "wet burrito sauce". So much of their flavor lacks originality in my opinion. But it was delicious in its own way. Much like a home cooked meal by a less than experienced chef. As for service, there really is none. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. The rest is on you. But that doesn't stop them from adding a "tip" option to the receipt. Tip for what? I dunno. So don't come here looking for a true dine in experience and you'll be okay. Considering their prices are so good and the food was pretty good if you're not looking for true Mexican flavor,id see myself coming back but not too often. Update: went back again to try to see if it changed after a few months of being open. Nope.... Got worse if you ask me. We went when it was nearly empty so we could give them a chance to show us what they could do with more time than our first trip. Similar to their Davis location- it's not "real" Mexican food but it's tex-mex. The tacos needed more flavor and I ended up putting a bunch of salsa on them. They say they have a "healthy options" menu but they don't really have them in line. It's also a little expensive. It's a solid choice, but nothing too special. I'd recommend here if you wanted tex-mex or went to UC Davis and wanted to get some of the nostalgia of Dos. read more

Update: The owner of the restaurant nicely said he spent two months working out these kinks and slow service. I hope to go again and update the review! The service was horrendous. We got there at 5:30 on a Sunday and our food didn't come until 6:45! We had four young kids with us. If we had known it would take that long, we absolutely would have left. By the time we finally ordered, the cashier said 15-20 min for the food. It was longer than that, more like 30-35 minutes. My friend's food was cold and when she complained to the manager, he had the kitchen recook the part of the meal that was cold. But that was it. There should have been a heads up about wait times. We loved these guys in Folsom..Were super excited to hear them opening in San Ramon! Whats not to like in that menu!Awe!some place! I loved Dos since I was introduced to it in Davis. I was excited to see that they expanded out this way. The one in Concord is very good. Today we tried the San Ramon location, and I'm a little bit disappointed. We ordered the Navajo Nachos to go and the chips were basically held together with beans and very little cheese. I would say that fewer than half the chips had cheese on it. It's a relatively new location, so I'm hopeful that it will improve in the future. I got the sense that much of the staff was new. Me an a coworker went to pick up several orders the other day. It was about 1130 and the place was already pretty packed. There was no direction at first that pick up orders could be picked up at another register so we stood in line at first. They should change that asap. The food is pretty good! Not really authentic Mexican food if that's what you're looking. The burrito was pretty big but I added salsa and limes to give it more flavor. They have a tin of different sauces to choose from. The darker green one with specks in it (dont know name) is amazing!!! It is kinda of sweet.... I loved it! I would go back just for that! The chips were just OK... We went there tonight and my chicken burrito was excellent. Ordered fresh Halper is in my burrito and selective items to be added and removed and it can out perfectly as ordered. My family and I love this place and have been coming here ever since it opened. We eat here often and the food is always excellent. I love their shredded beef tacos and chicken enchiladas. Their salsa bar is awesome and the staff are always really nice. The only thing I wish they would bring back that they used to sell on the counter are the chocolate chip cookies. I love what they've done with the space. I still miss Ruggie's (I can't just grab a BLT anymore). But this is a great lunch spot. When I'm between customer meetings, and I just need a place where I can sit with a power outlet and dine on some chips and salsa (from a very complete salsa bar) - this is my jam. Unfortunately, the chips are not my favorite (I know it's probably sacrilege to state it, but I really miss Chevy's chips!) The food here is okay. Its affordable and it lands on your table lickety split. My biggest gripe is these new-fangled Coca-Cola pina-forina dispensing fountains. You get a backup of 3-7 people waiting to put their beverage in their cup. (Pro tip: order a margarita and skip that nonsense) I basically had to drown my food in salsa (lots of fresh salsa pickings). Not sure if its because its tex-mex - or I'm an alcoholic - but it just wasn't spicy enough for me. I grabbed a side of diced jalapeno to be sure. I've had chicken burritos, fish tacos, beef tacos, pork.... my daughter loves their cheese quesadilla (great place for kids, they can spread out or just zone out on their electronics and no one will bat an eye at you!). Dinner with kids. Perfect. My husband and I are from the South Bay - I am not going to lie - this is not a taqueria. This is still San Ramon (one of the most expensive places to live) - so this restaurant is watered down for those less adventurous. Exactly what we needed in san ramon!! I work close by and eat lunch in this area daily and this place nailed it. They completely renovated the space, it looks great. (A complete transformations from ruggies) First impression: a line out the door made me nervous. I was stubborn and decided to wait it out. I'm glad I did! The line moved pretty fast! (Way quicker then the habit line!) the food comes quickly after you order too. The staff is very generous and polite. Salsa bar: has something for everyone. This is perhaps the most important part of a Mexican restaurant in my opinion and they have more salsa options than any other Mexican restaurant I have been to. Very clean and modern feel. The food: the portions are big! And reasonably Priced! The food quality is great and tastes fresh. I've been there a few times over the past week. Burrito was delicious. Best burrito I ever had!!! I got the Paella burrito loaded with Mahi Mahi, shrimp and chicken sausage. My husband got the grilled salmon burrito with double the salmon! We were so full eating half of it but couldn't help it and finished the rest because it was that good!!! Service was excellent. My daughter had a burrito bowl and they forgot the rice. We let the server know and he brought it out to us in less than 5 seconds. Cashier was helpful and everyone made sure you were taken care of. I would definitely go back. My only advice is they should put in another Coke machine because the line was too long to serve yourself. Other than that I know this business will do well in the area. I always get an Adobe Steak Salad whenever I come here and it's always delicious but the last 6 times I came whenever I get an order to-go the wait times is hovering around 30 minutes. I noticed multiple customers behind me getting their orders first but maybe it's because they were dine-in? The most recentI noticed my salad on the counter for like 10 mins but when I asked, they said my order wasn't ready. This seemed a cool concept, and worth trying. The food however, was disappointing. The staff was fast, friendly, and helpful. The kitchen looked clean and well-organized, and the numerous employees in the kitchen and service counter worked well together. Our order was delivered quickly, and at the right temperature. Unfortunately, the recipes, or execution thereof, leave much to be desired. I ordered a taco sampler. The fish taco was flavorless, it seemed like a small portion of plain steamed mahi in there. The pulled pork was okay, and the beef as well-seasoned and cooked right, but the flavor of the taco was pretty bland. They were all served in soft corn tortillas, of which I'm not a fan. My wife ordered enchilada, which was presented well, but the sauce had a funky flavor (I think it was overcooked) and ruined the dish for her. The young manager was eager to help my wife find a dish she liked, and brought out a burrito, which was not too bad. The sauces at the sala bar were pretty good (especially the tomatillo, which I poured into my tacos for flavor), but you fill tiny ramekins with spoons that hold about half a teaspoon, and no trays to transport your tiny samples to your table. I usually like self-serve drinks at quick service restaurants, but the glasses are small, and the machine is a "freestyle" type (single spout and choose your flavor on a digital screen), so there was a line of people waiting to use it, even in a half-full restaurant. Between that and the sala bar, it felt like a lot of work to eat here. I may visit again someday, in hope that they have changed or adjusted their recipes, but we're not rushing back. There is a great group of people who work here, and I hope the owners will give them the systems they need to put out a better product. Best of luck to you! read more

I think it's pretty cool that every time I come to this spot with the kids to eat they're always so accommodating. The staff is smiling happy and always eager to help you out. I love when the manager comes over and make sure everything is okay and that we don't need any help. The atmosphere is buzzing with family. Dos Coyotes offers good tex mex food at great prices with awesome portions. The service is great and attentive. I got a burrito bowl a with some of their nachos, with a lot of steak in it, without having to ask for extra. They also have the freestyle Coke machine that mixes up the soda world too! It's always nice to have options in the beverage department. And they have plenty of food options, whether you want meat, veggies and or both. Overall, they have everything I could ask for along with a good location. I commute on 680 southbound so it's nice to grab food right off the highway, whether it's so sit down and eat or just to pick up. A friend recommended this place so we stopped in for the first time and it was great the place was clean the staff was friendly. My order went through with no issues. 20 minutes later, I get an email saying that my order was cancelled with no explanation. I tried calling twice before placing my order to make sure they were open and nobody picked up but they were open at that time. Won't order from here again. The quality isn't only in the ingredients, it's within the decor and (probably most importantly) in the customer service. It was the first time I've realized how much I looked forward to returning for another meal, and hadn't even left the restaurant yet. The kids are going to love the state of the art soda fountain that allows you to customize drinks with flavor enhancements that can't be duplicated anywhere else (Ex: Sprite with Peach flavor). I'm a simple taqueria kind of guy, so quality of salsa is a critical component to enhance any Mexican meal. Dos Coyotes delivers in quality and variety in that department. Lastly I'm also looking forward to the patio for happy hour, to take advantage of the bar drinks that are available - there's some real potential that I'll be finding myself craving a "Daily Dos"! read more

This is my first time going to Dos Coyotes and it was truly amazing! The environment is so friendly and it's perfect for a fun family dinner. The decorations around the restaurant are so cute and they really make it feel like you've transported to a totally different place. The food was delicious and very flavorful. The Mexican spices thoroughly complimented all of the dishes. Many of the meals also came with chips which went with the variety of salsas from the salsa bar. I loved the unique taste of each salsa and how there was a wide spectrum of mild to hot salsas. Overall, the dinner was very delicious and the service was great. Grand Opening week. Welcome to the neighborhood. This place was busy. Our first thought was this was a sit down restaurant. We were surprised to see it is - order at the counter then sit down, like Taco Bell. I was a little offended by the female greeter "telling us" to actually order our food first, THEN reserve our table... we were just standing in line studying the menu. $5 margaritas! Was disappointing that only three taco pick up was so bad. Make sure you check your order before you leave. I even made my order inside the restaurant. Drove home to find out my order was wrong. I mean one out of the 3 tacos had enough chicken. But I ask for flower and got corn taco shells. I have been here 3x so far. About 3/4 weeks apart. 2 of the 3 visits have messed up my order. I get some kind of burrito w/o guac and they keep adding guac for some reason. We inquire what's the issue and are told because we had ONE shrimp taco and shrimp is cooked to order....all the other items are in queue because of the seafood.
