Incredible food and incredible people. The food is affordable and delicious. My family loved the salsa bar. There isn't a better dinner/lunch option in the area that can beat the price. This is more a review of the mishandling of cinco de Mayo than a review of the food. It was our first time and certainly understand the changes Covid-19 brings in running a restaurant. That said we decided to try Dos Coyotes for our celebration of Cinco de Mayo. We ordered food for pick up. The guy stated it would be an hour was that ok? We said sure and we paid over the phone to help expedite things further for pickup. We got to the restaurant about 5min early to find a long line stretching down to sprouts. I inquired to those in line if this was the line for phone orders and they all said yes. So i got in the back of the line. It took 40 minutes to finally get to the counter and receive my food. As I made I to the restaurant I was able to witness people coming in the front door and ordering food as walk ins and waiting near the counter for their food. Some walked in and stated they had ordered by phone and paid over the phone and they were assisted immediately and given their food. This was infuriating to those in the restaurant who had waited minimum of 30+minutes to get this far for a phone in order. There were 9-12 employees working on food prep but only one person handling the register. The completed food orders seemed to be placed in every available area of the restaurant in their bags. The register could not come close to keeping up with the food preparers. The recommendation was to simply have one employee organize those who have already paid over the phone and were there to collect their food in one line working with someone dedicated to that. Those who needed to pay still should be prioritized over those who were walk in. The walk in people could place their order with another person who would submit the order to the cooks and then they would pay as their order was completed. It was obvious they were not prepared for how to handle the increase for today's celebration. They had the food preparers to handle the crowd as they were cooking the food orders faster than they could ring them up by 30-40 minutes. I will eat here again but they should've recognized the food stacking up all over the place and figured they needed to get this orders out quicker. In the end sitting in their containers as long as they did it felt more like leftovers than a meal. read more

Finally tried the new hot spot on a hot afternoon when there were only a handful of patrons. We stood at register for over 5 minutes before being acknowledged. Clean & cute decor. Counted over a dozen employees! Food was fresh but lacked flavor despite the habanero salsa. Sorry to say we were really disappointed. I really wanted this to be the new go to for Mexican but unless it's for chips, guac & $5 margaritas will probably pass. read more

I am so happy that Dos Coyotes opened in San Ramon!! Anyone who went to UC Davis knows what I'm talking about. I was skeptical about how it would compare to my college days but this place did not disappoint! I got a shrimp burrito which was EXACTLY how I remembered it to be... but it was even better! And the green tomatillo salsa was on point too!! I have now found my new addiction in the Tri-Valley! I will be returning again...very soon!!! read more

I decided to give it another go and I'm still not 100% satisfied. Again, flavors are good but the rice was undercooked and crunchy. I was hoping the kitchen would have its groove by now. The food is good but only giving three stars because since I've been ordering take out when they first opened, my order has never been right. I normally order the Adobe salad and every time something is missing. It usually comes with guacamole and sour cream, this time it came with a chipotle like dressing and mango dressing? Ok. Seriously!!!!!!! So brown guacamole isn't what I ordered. If you ask for any salad or any burritos with onion expect big ass chunks of onion. Pretty gross to bite into inch think onions. This isn't authentic its fast lazy food with underpaid employees to not have enough time to cute things up or even cook them. Try the fajita salad get all rawww veggies. Half a red onion raw grosssssss. The protein orders dry chicken breast. The black beans were under cooked and hard. I'm pretty sure if you have even gone to OC airport you will get the same thing with better cooks just a crappy boss. read more

I've been to Dos Coyotes a handful of times and have always had great food with great service. On the rare occasion something wasn't right it was immediately fixed. My family, friends and I have had a variety of dishes and have enjoyed them all. Some favorites have been the Crispy Tacos, Burrito Bowls & Nachos. Not to mention they make a great margarita at a steal of a price, $5! What I love even more than their food is their commitment to our community! Earlier this week they held a 3 day fundraiser benefiting my daughters elementary school and now they are offering free meals for first responders through the weekend. Dos Coyotes is a great addition to our community and I look forward to many more meals there! read more

There are airports that are more quiet than this place. Staff is more interested in entertaining themselves thank helping the customer.

Cheap food and drinks. Very busy and long wait. Don't bring chips and salsa until your meal comes.

I've been here five times and the quality control is diminishing .... first 3 times amazing food , good fresh quality ... last 2 times leaves me wondering if I'll be back .... chicken was old !!!! I've been to Dos Coyotes Border Cafe three times. Each time the food has been disappointing. I gave it another chance a couple days ago for dinner, only to have the same results. The dishes seem like they are just 'thrown' together. They look nothing like the pictures, that's for sure. The nachos were incredibly 'plain.' The chips were over cooked , and the chicken didn't taste good. The mango , chicken quesadilla was bad. There was no chicken in half of it , and very little mango. A couple other meals we had were just as bad. They were all thrown together, and tasted like it. Lastly, on the way out I bought a couple of sodas in glass bottles. They were put in a paper bag. When I got home while walking to the front door, the bottom of the bag tore which sent a bottle crashing to the cement. I'll never go to this place again. Don't waste your money. We stood behind the counter where there was an obvious manager speaking to an underling about schedules, work related topics and never once greeted us or acknowledged our presence. We looked over the menus, made or decisions and stood there. Waiting. And waiting. We moved to the next register thinking we were at the wrong counter. Nothing. We were never acknowledged. We left. Went there for the first time last night. Here are the positives and negatives: Positives- 1. Good size portions on the chicken tacos, meat was moist not dry 2. Very nice restaurant. Feels like you are in a sit down place 3. They provide chips and salsas. (Not greedy like Chipotle) Negatives- 1. Menu was confusing and took too long to figure out. 2. The Salsas are not very good. I did not find any of them to be appealing. The salsa verde was chunky and the others were just not good. Unamas still wins in this category. read more

The Navajo nachos and quesadillas are great to share with a group of friends. My family and I love Dos Coyotes!! My 6 year old doesn't even like Mexican food and she loves it. There is truly something for everyone. My personal favorite is the carnitas and anything you can put them on-especially the nachos! Other family favorites are the shrimp burrito, the Albuquerque chopped salad and the chicken Caesar salad. The paella burrito is truly unique and delicious. They usually have some great seasonal specials too. The service is always great and staff is very friendly. Love the food! Border burrito with Ranchero sauce is great! I have tried it with chicken and the pork. Both were good but I absolutely loved the pork. My son raves about the paia burrito. My only complaint is no paper towels in the restroom. Wash your hands and you have to leave opening the handle with your bare hand after everyone else who didn't wash their hands. Yucky!!! read more

My co-workers and I went to try this place out since it is new and we are always looking for a good lunch spot. The reviews on this place are mixed between us so 3 star is the average. Some of our experience can probably be chalked up to growing pains - 1. Lost my co-worker's order so he waited 30 minutes for his food while we all ate our food. On the plus side, they did acknowledge their mistake and gave him his fish tacos for free. 2. My Ranchero Burrito plate did not come with the rice and beans, but I did not bring the mistake to their attention since the burrito was sufficient. Plenty of steak in the burrito. 3. Chips on the plate meals are not crispy (hot plate?). In contrast, the chips in the baskets were crispier. 4. Co-worker liked the salsa from the salsa bar. He had the spicy salsa. I was not a fan of the salsa which seemed to lack flavor to me. I had the mild salsa. 5. Co-worker's burrito was not wrapped tightly and fell apart while he was eating it. 6. Servers came out to clear dishes and clean tables which is good. Do not like to see dirty plates stay too long on the tables. 7. Chicken Enchilada was a bit on the dry side. I am not a fan, but my co-workers enjoyed it enough that we may give this place another try after it has worked out some kinks. read more

3 stars for the atmosphere. It's really nicely decorated and very colorful. 2 stars for the food! I had the Border Burrito. It was the most bland tasteless burrito I've had to date. It was hot from chilies and that was about it. There literally was no taste, no spice, no salt....nothing. And where were the refried beans I ordered instead of the black beans. There's a good amount of chicken, which tastes like it might have been smoked, why you would smoke the chicken instead of infusing it with some good mexican flavors I'll never know, but nothing more. I added pico de gallo, lemon and salt. But, it really was just tasteless. It was also dry because there is no wetness anywhere on the plate. If you want a red or green sauce added it's extra. There were not even any natural juices from the cooking. As things went it probably wouldn't have mattered much. Just not good. My partner had the Mahi Mahi Tacos. There were nice big pieces of the fish and cooked well, but that was about it. No taste. And, also dry. No juices from the cooking at all. There is a salsa bar and we did get the pico de gallo, which was decent, habanro salsa, which was spicey, but no taste and we also got some of the patillo salsa which was absolutely disgusting. Been meaning to get to this newer restaurant this past year in San Ramon at Crow Canyon. Unfortunately, very noisy, as many of these types of fast-food like restaurants are (-though I can think of way to baffle/re-arrange so it could be mitigated to some degree) The service was very good. The freshness of food, also very good. My disappointment came in the incredible lack of cheese on the entrees we purchased. Very stingy for some reason almost encouraging a dryness to them. Hm. Geared more for people doing business and in-a-hurry lunch, but not some place I'd go for a sit down mexican lunch. (I'll stick with Mexxi's on Alcosta) read more
