My mom is older and isn't great with the phone. They hassled her about asking for a menu. I let that slide as we were starving and hungry. I ordered the Croque monsieur which was 90% mustard. The bread was burnt to shit l, and the bread was tall and chewy. They by the way only have two items on the kids menu...butter pasta and macaroni. My fiancé and I live in LA county, but I just started a job in the area and we are looking to relocate to Murrieta, so we have been coming down every weekend to tour houses, and we've sort of started an unofficial tradition of coming in here - this being the third consecutive weekend. The original draw was mainly the fact that there are several vegan options, which is important since half of the viewing party of 6 is vegan. It also didn't hurt that it was a gastropub-y kind of place that is forward thinking and takes pride in what they serve. Quick points below with a spiel to follow: Parking (5 stars) - While you might think that any kind of downtown location would be hard to find parking, it really isn't bad. Twice now we've driven right up and parked in one of the diagonal spots just in front. There's a big parking lot in the rear, and a large dirt lot directly across the street where you can park as well. Food (4 stars - vegan only) - So far we've enjoyed everything that we've tried. Impossible burger comes with fries and a small side of dressed greens. Thai salad topped with pickled ginger. Vegan Mac with a surprising hint of curry. Tomato addiction (sans Brie). Hummus served with cucumber and homemade bread. Everything has been very palatable, and the bread is honestly addictive! Drink (4 stars) - Solid selection of beers and wines, and creative cocktails. They've had three Russian River taps (including Pliny the Elder) every visit to date, as well as more localized offerings from iconic breweries such as Pizza Port, and some younger but worthy places like Societe. I had The Pupil west coast IPA yesterday which is high on my list of consistently great beers. Ambiance (4 stars) - Very nice! Modern yet comfortable; a good balance. Not too dark or bright, feels open and has some air flow. Seating is pretty comfortable and the outside patio is awesome with little tabletop fireplaces for those chilly fall and winter days. Prices (4 stars) - What you would expect, and fair in my opinion. My only gripe is the cost of the impossible burger - $18 for a burger is a bit rich for my blood. Service (2-4 stars depending on the day) - This is tough, because there's so much that we really like about this place! But I feel like constructive criticism is needed to help make improvements, and anyways, isn't that partially what Yelp is for? If I was a business owner I would certainly use this tool to get my customers feedback and use it to try and better my business. So, here goes... They have a QR code to not only view the menus, but also to order. Fine. Covid, less human interection helps to protect the employees from unnecessary exposure, I can respect that. For the most part, however, we have found that there is very little interaction or assistance whatsoever, and don't tell me to get on my phone to click the need assistance button on the third party app that they use to request assistance. While I understand that implementing new systems can be challenging and might require some adjustments, I think that the service could really use some improvement. Again, less interaction is great, but some would be nice! Especially since a tip is expected, as it should be, when waiting on people and providing a service that you don't get at home. I worked in the service industry for 10+ years, and you work for tips. If it's more efficient to run a restaurant through an app, and the expectation is that the employees don't need to check on tables to see how they're doing or if anyone needs anything, water, a to-go box, etc., then I hope that the employer understands that and is able to pay the employees more, because it's hard to justify tipping what you typically should (around 20% for good service in my opinion, plus or minus for anything noteworthy above or below that), when you're hardly being served. Maybe that's been worked out and I am concerned for nothing, but it's uncharted waters and I have my concerns. I will say that last weekend, the one time that we sat outside, we received good service from a friendly person whom I am inclined to believe may have been the manager (unfortunately I did not catch her name), who was attentive, friendly, and charismatic, and should be given the opportunity to do a little staff training! Definitely recommend checking this place out, we will continue to be back time abd again, will probably be "locals" in due time, and hope that the business continues to improve and find success, so that we can continue to enjoy it! read more

I came here on a date and the atmosphere was very nice and cozy. We got dessert and it was absolutely amazing! We were recommend a new item by our server Jaeda, and the recommendation was spot on! My friend and I went there and waited for them to take order for like 40 minutes ? Waiters and waitresses would walk by us and straight up ignore us. The only time they interacted was to give us our menus, where they asked right away if we were ready to order which we barely had time look over the menu. Food was delicious and quick to table. The server who greeted us at the host stand (12/17 8:30 pm) was awesome. He had a great personality, made light of the fact I wanted a fire pit table but couldn't have one, it was great. Our server on the other hand, my god. I hope, for every customers sake she was just having an off day. After the better part of a decade working in F&B myself, I'm extremely lenient with those in the same industry, I know when it's servers fault vs. kitchen/host/runner etc. Inattentive doesn't even begin to describe her. If it weren't for her awesome floor manager (dark long hair) we would have been stuck with the wrong appetizer, no plates and no refills. We love the public house in Temecula, I was bummed for such a crap experience at the sister location. To the short female server with black hair & straight across bangs, check on your tables... not only after food is dropped but ESPECIALLY when you see your manager correcting a problem. Don't eat here unless you like doing work. We came for quick drinks and you are literally not served. They won't take your order--you have to deal with it all on your phone. So Saturday14 th took an old frien out for a drink, and knowing it's under new ownership, and was excited being a local and introducing a friend to our town! Well, the worse experience ever! And at the end when I had the opportunity to express my thoughts of our experience, who I thought, and acted like a manager? He didn't care, and no apologies! We had come from a funeral memorial of a close friend and looking for some lightness to the day. My wife and I were fortunate enough to meet Tereza first, then Ben. Tereza is a relatable, wonderful person who just makes you feel like a friend. She had perfect suggestions for amazing drinks fit us perfectly. Ben, a big thank you too. One of the most comfortable things about this place is how industrial yet accommodating and neat it feels. The hamburger was literally amazing. My friend and I went here yesterday at around 7:30pm. There was no wait and they seated us right away. They kept a water jug-like dish at our table, which was very nice. The Linguine was very flavorful. The dish size was very well sized (my friend and I shared it). It filled us up. It has a spice to it, but is not a strong spice, just the right amount. Overall, very flavorful and good. Highly recommend. The dessert was also very very good. It was very light, so it's the perfect dessert after a full meal. It was very sweet but the berries made it the perfect sweet to tart ratio. Highly recommend Overall, this restaurant is very good, has very good service for being so busy. Convenient and definitely not as busy as the location in Old Town Temecula. We sat outside in a booth which was great for the 6 of us to all hear each other and there was a nice fire feature in the middle of the table to keep us warm after sunset. I got a beer and ponzu pork which was super tasty. My only gripe was the ordering system. I am all about paperless menus but they use an online system where you order and pay through your phone. Our table had a range of tech savvy people so we spent an unnecessary amount of time figuring out how to order and required server assist anyway to answer questions, etc...just took away from our time with each other and caused confusion when we wanted to sit and enjoy a meal. read more

We went there for lunch and had a very difficult time: The Public House is now discriminating against seniors and those with vision disabilities. If you don't have a smart phone and a credit card they turn you away. The app they require you to use is Toast- and it is non-ADA compliant. I love this spot for lunch or brunch and although the menu is small, the options are very good. So far I've loved their truffle fries, cheeseburger and orange chicken. I've also had the artichoke chicken and that was cooked perfectly. There's one waitress who is particularly great, always friendly and attentive. The waiters could learn a thing or two from her.
