Customer service is iffy depending on who you speak with and if its within 20 minutes to closing time, they will not answer. Kind of makes sense since people need to close down the kitchen and clean up so just an fyi if it's close to that time. However, Food is great though and definitely worth the price. Went for brunch on a saturday and was able to get a seat quickly. Everyone was super friendly. Had the waffle breakfast. Wife had the loaded grit bowl. We shared a pound of wings. Been here a couple times now. Overall, I'm high on this place; but it is not without some reservations. - It's either "meh" or great depending on what you order. A great item is Nate's special. It's an amazing grilled cheese sandwich with onion rings and chicken strips stuffed in. Sounds weird, but it's wicked good. - Speaking of "meh," I'm not a fan of their waffles. They're not bad - just not my style. They are dense and soft. I prefer a lighter waffle with a nice, light crispiness on the outside. Again, this is probably a preference thing. - Their wings are great; and since they are made to order, there's an option for every preference. You can get them breaded or "naked." After that, you choose the sauce, and your wings come out cooked and dressed the way you like. These aren't the GMO, fat wings you can get at the grocery store. They're smaller - like from chickens that have been denied all the benefits that modern anabolic steroids can offer. - A surprisingly good thing here is the little kale, side salad you get with most entrees. It's simple, with a unique, creamy dressing. Maybe I'm crazy, and it's just Hidden Valley Ranch with some lemon juice squeezed in, but it's so good! - Fries are good. - Another "meh" is the Philly cheesesteak. Way too salty, and nothing to write home about. - Easy atmosphere, friendly staff, and a great location for Rainier Beach folks. Excellent family owned place. Super good food. My date and I got the Philly cheese steak, and the loaded cheese steak (made with hot link) with sweet potato fries. The loaded cheese steak isn't on the regular menu, but was on the specials menu that we didn't notice when walking in. The girl at the counter recommended it and we're glad she did! Honestly some of the best fried chicken I've had in Seattle is at Drae's. The spot is cute and feels actually community based which can be hard to find these days in Seattle. I think last time I went in I didn't see blueberry bacon waffles, so if they're gone bring them back! Service is usually pretty quick. Only remark I have is the menu is a little cluttered and hard to read but that's an easy fix. Love this spot read more

I've been meaning to check this place out since it opened but I didn't actually stop by until today after placing a lunch order for our crew at work. When I went, there was a really sweet, cute girl that helped out with the service--i thought that was a cozy touch. Food came out promptly and it was delicious! I'm all about supporting local businesses, and I really wanted to like Drae's, but the food was really just too subpar. Came in for lunch and had the chicken waffle sliders added an egg on top, with the kale salad on the side 12$. When I arrived it was just a little after noon and I was the only one there. I still ended up waiting 15-20 minutes for the food to come out, but the cashier (maybe Drae?) apologized and said he wasn't sure why it took so long. No biggie. I was excited about the food seeing all the great reviews. However I was pretty letdown to say the least. There didn't seem to be enough waffle batter in the maker, so my waffle had wholes all over. Definitely not that thick, chewy and fluffy waffle you expect. Chicken wasn't crispy enough, so there wasn't a ton of texture. It wasn't dry though, so I guess that's decent. Egg was cooked hard, when it really should've had a little bit of velvetyness to it. Flavors were fine, I was just whelmed to be honest. Kale salad was cool too, nothing special. Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Value: 3/5 Maybe I'll give them another try in the future, but unfortunately I just had a poor experience today. read more

YUM YUM: PART DOS! They've really expanded their menu variety here a lot in a very amazing way. I like savory, hearty, dope, and sometimes greasy food. Most of all it's really catering to the diversity the area that represents a new American Rainier Beach flavor with latin, black, and comfort food fare. Melting pot and more on the menu. I was here several times when it was Nate's and a couple times as Drae's. The special waffles still remain, and are a favorite for my kids. I like that the waffle offerings include heaping portions of fruit so that my kids aren't entirely getting empty sugar-syrup calories. It's a treat for them, as is the food for me. So it works out. I love the chicken breading here a lot, but moreso what really helps top the flavor comes from the sauces. In the past I've had the chicken saltiness vary, it seems to have become more consistent since the transition. It's a quirky place that is surprisingly easy to hang out at and blend in because of the variety of patrons for the location. The diversity of the area is showing and I think that is just refreshing and comfortable in a Seattle kind of way. Afternoons can sometimes be packed with the close chairs in the past; but I've been lucky in the evening and gotten easy seating recently. The only drawback is maybe the street parking, but that doesn't retract from the food which fits what I want when I'm in between places in the evening. read more

Sullen, moody, i-am-trying-to-be-cool-while-working-here-but-failing-at-my-job teenager perfectly describes the young man in the red hoodie at the counter. I felt completely unwelcome. When I walked in, he didn't look up from his screen or make eye contact. No greeting or direction on whether I should order at the counter or sit down. When I asked for water, he handed me a cup without saying a word. I wanted to ask: What did I ever do to deserve this? The food was overpriced. The fries were limp. This is crazy & they say support black owned businesses & you get treated like shit from a non black person working at their establishment!! As long as you have to wait for your food they need a bigger waiting area for ppl who cannot stand for long periods. I was made aware when my kids and I walked in that it was takeout only after 1 pm I was just literally trying to sit down as I waited for my to go order, I have planters fasciitis!! My parents, wife, two year old son and I were hungry after a visit to the Museum of Flight and driving from Vancouver BC. Before going back home in Portland we needed some nourishment. Though not all that familiar with Seattle, we knew we did not want to go back north into the city so we checked out nearby restaurants and headed to Jude's Old Town for some NOLA food. When we arrived, the bartender told us the refrigerator was broken and would not be serving food until later that evening. Luckily, Drae's was right across the street. It has an unassuming but welcoming front with the menu posted on the window. I have to admit, I wasn't really feeling waffles but they also had a Philly cheesesteak which sounded good. As we were looking, a little girl popped her head out and told us there were other specials on the board inside. We wandered inside and sat down at a table. The same little girl brought us some menus and told us we could order at the front. There was a gentleman at the counter who I assume was Drae and he again told us about the specials. I had decided on the Cheesesteak. My wife opted for chicken strips and cornbread waffle, my parents split a burger slider meal and my two year old got a waffle. When my wife ordered, Drae handed her a cup and said, "You can get the little guy whatever he wants." A very nice gesture. Speaking of drinks, there's the standard fare of fountain drinks (self-serve) and beer in cans/bottles (Bud Light, Ranier, Men's Room Red, etc.). I believe there were some mixed drinks as well but I don't recall. If they could improve just one thing, it would be adding three or four local beer taps. We waited for the food and looked around the place. It was small and intimate but the crowd was thin and quiet on a Thursday at almost 6:00 pm. There was a pinball machine in the corner under the TV which is a cool touch. After a short time, the food arrived and it all looked and smelled delicious. We were all curious about the fluffy, tasty-looking waffle on my son's plate and tore off some small pieces to try. Wow! One of the best waffles I've ever tasted. Melt in your mouth good. My son tore into it and I turned my attention to the Cheesesteak. I bit into it, the bun was soft and warm and the steak nicely seasoned. It didn't take me long to finish. The fries that accompanied it were steak fries and were good but not spectacular. My parents said the sliders were very good as well. My wife's chicken strips were on the dry side but still good and her cornbread waffle was pretty tasty. All in all, I'd highly recommend Drae's and will gladly return when we are in the area especially since it's such a family-friendly place. read more

Went there on a Saturday night, not busy that particular night, I assume because everyone was out eating garbage at other places. It was amazing. Super friendly staff and cooks. Awesome food. Staff was awesome about accommodating my dairy allergy. Ended up with the Angus sliders sans cheese and side of fries. Buns are vegan, veggie patties do have dairy in them I learned.
