You'll find a big dragon hanging from the ceiling inside. They have a super convenient feature where you can even order right from your table. We got the fried dumplings which were absolutely delicious a must try. We got the chicken fried rice absolutely delicious. We got the skewers with pita super yummy! I was disappointed - skimpy steak skewers with loads of fat, over breaded fried chicken (too much breading compared to chicken) and bland shrimp fried rice for ~$60. Everything was very oily and just didn't taste good. Service was basically non existent, the server never brought chop sticks (after asking) and told us to just yell at him if we need anything. THE GOOD: Open late on a Sunday evening. Inexpensive for a large quantity of food. Waiter attentive considering he was the only server. THE BAD: No paper menus, had to use a phone to search the menu and to place our order too. Waiter petted one of the resident dogs, then handed us forks holding the tines in his fingers! Dog food out for the 2 dogs that roam the restaurant. Dog food spilled out of the bowl and waiter picks it up with his fingers and continues to serve patrons. Waiter was very attentive, but his greasy apron, the picking up of dog food and handling patrons forks by the tines really makes it hard to compliment the place. 3 of us ordered 2 dishes, but we had to ask for plates (should've been obvious, right?). Quality of the food wasn't so great. Chewy chicken, lots of breading, definitely not the 4 stars Yelp gives this place. Finally, the bill came with a service fee tacked on after I presented my card for payment. Presume it was for using a credit card? We decided to try this place for the first time with out reading reviews, when we first entered there were two dogs right on the boot, We sat on the last table by the wall. Waiter was friendly. Had already placed my order when I look towards the wall and I see roaches crawling on the walk right next to us. It was extremely fatty and just plain nasty. Pineapple chicken had great flavor, unfortunately it was also horrible chicken. Very fatty and wasn't even sure it could be called chicken. This place is a joke. I got two orders of the soup dumplings, and I can 100% say they are the exact same soup dumplings that you buy frozen from Trader Joe's. How I know this is because I actually had a box of the Trader Joe's ones in my freezer, made them, and then compared the taste & size to the ones from Dragon Flame. Funniest part about this, is the Dragon Flame ones even have the same indentations on the bottom as the ones from Trader Joe's do, because the plastic in the container they come in is not smooth, so you can see the texture of it. What a nice little gem! My friend and I took a workout class and it ended pretty late, so the restaurant we planned to eat at had closed. We were set on something asian so found Dragon Flame which stays open late. The sign wasn't lighted so we almost missed it on the dark street. Once inside it's super cute and the owner (I think he was the owner) was the most genuine and engaging person I've met at a restaurant. My friend was cold when we walked in and he saw her kind of shivering and gave her his jacket. Told us all about the menu and the different methods and how things are prepared. My bf and I were staying in a hotel nearby for a few days and stumbled upon Dragon Flame Chinese Grill on Uber Eats. We really appreciated that Dragon Flame is open until 2am when typically we only have fast food options for delivery. Having grown up with a Grandma who is from Northern China, I was extremely excited to try what they had to offer. My bf has not had much experience with this kind of food so we ordered a variety of what they had to offer. The food was so good that it has started a new obsession for him and we ordered from here an embarrassing 3 out of the 4 nights we were in Tempe. Emperor Fried Rice $27: personally this was my favorite dish. They use bone broth to cook the rich so it has a much richer umami flavor than you traditionally get. This dish reminded me of the fried rice I grew up eating with mushrooms, Chinese lap cheong (sweet sausage), pork, and shrimp (though this was obviously a much fancier version). Do I think it's worth $27, no not necessarily. Did I happily pay for it 2 nights in a row because it was the best fried rice I've ever had? Yes! Kung Fu Chicken $22: advertised as 30 ingredients marinated for 48hrs. I will say, it has a flavor that is unlike anything I have ever tasted before. Comes as 4 large chicken legs and some fries. First day the chicken was incredibly crunchy. Next two they were less crunchy and more dry. Still delicious with a lot of flavor though and worth checking out. Fried Dumplings $14: these tasted very similar to the pan-fried stuffed patties my grandma used to make (she called them jianbing though I'm not sure that's actually the name). These are one of my all time favorite childhood treats that until now I had not found a restaurant do them justice. Lamb Skewers $14: their version of the cumin lamb skewers that are so popular in many Asian street markets. While they were okay, hard for me to rave about them given the quantity of lamb you get, which is also rather fatty, when I've had much better for much cheaper Pineapple Chicken $17.50: saw this dish as being one of the most popular on yelp so we decided to try it. We were sadly disappointed. Tasted like sweet and sour chicken with a slightly more acidic sauce. Nothing special in my opinion Not pictured: Steamed Dumplings $13: 10 steamed pork dumplings. Would probably have been great for dine in but for delivery, most of the heat and juiciness was gone. Even then, still a solid dumpling with the soy/black vinegar dipping sauce. Chong Qing Noodle $17:50: great flavorful and spicy broth. Noodles went well with the broth. Overall delicious dish. Only wish it came in a bowl rather than a tall plastic container because you can't get to the meat, veggies or peanuts that are at the bottom of the broth once the noodles are added. Cumin Chicken Legs $16.50: this dish was a real surprise for me. The legs were cut up into smaller pieces and breaded super crunchy then seasoned heavily with cumin. Absolutely delicious and unique. So I realize that I wrote an absurd amount for this review but I feel like the chef and his crew deserve recognition for their hard work. The food is truly special and unlike any other run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant you'll find. The food is thoughtfully packaged with aluminum foil lining the styrofoam to help maintain the heat. The chef says that 80% of his items are completely unique and can only be found here. Of the items I tried, the unique ones are ones I will never forget and the authentic ones payed homage to the original dish in the best way possible. This is a must try restaurant in my opinion. I only wish I could've gone and dined in person to meet the owners 2 adorable dogs. read more

Wow! Very unique place. Stopped in to try the dragons breath dessert we saw on IG. The place is very college townie in ambiance but the food is very different. We had the cumin chicken legs, which to be fare looked more like chicken necks but the flavor was terrific! It was hard to stop eating them. We also got the egg fried rice which wasn't fried rice at all. The server told me if was scrambled eggs but I thought she meant in the rice. It's a scrambled egg dish with rice on the side. A tad salty at first but another unique flavor that was very moorish. Really good and nothing I had ever had before. The dragon breath dessert was fun, nothing special flavor wise. The server did a nice job but I would hate to see it if it was busy because she was the only one and had to make smoothies and lattes as well as serve tables. I've been dining here since 2018. As a regular diner and a critical Chinese gourmet, I assure you this is one of the BEST place in Phoenix for authentic Chinese BBQ (烧烤 in Chinese). This place is great for lone diner as well as group gathering. If you dine alone, I strongly recommend the lab soup (羊汤米线) with noodles in it. The lamb soup is the best... the texture of the lamb is just... beyond words. (P.S. even a previous 1-start review acknowledges that the lamb soup was awesome) Also, 烤冷面 BBQ noodles is my favorite. You should try it! If you want to throw a party, come here late at night. Chinese BBQ is meant for the night, where people chat and drink beer and chew the lamb skewers. You can let them know if you want extra spice on it! The owner of the restaurant, Mr. Mao, comes from Harbin, the cradle of of northern style Chinese BBQ. Probably the worst chicken fried rice I've ever had, entire dish had a weird yellow tint to it and the chicken itself was pale grey. I bit into one of the chicken pieces and it was rock hard like I bit into a bone. I tried to keep eating it and give it a chance but one I bit into the hard piece I spit it out and stopped eating it.
