Saw the reviews and was excited to give this place a try. XLB and beef pancake roll were good! However, when it came to our noodle soup dishes, we came across a bug. We kept it lowkey and quietly informed the server, who cancelled the order on our receipt. We tried asking if we could cancel the other soup dish as well, as we understandably no longer wanted to eat it after seeing the bug, and it was also barely touched. We would have been okay if we ended up having to pay for the other soup dish, but the server acted very rudely to my partner and snubbed him. We did not want to make this a big deal at all, as mistakes do happen, but the treatment we received after wasn't great. In all fairness though, someone else did cancel the dish for us. read more

I'm from Northern China, my mom packs our fridge back home with hundreds of handmade dumplings. This is the ONLY restaurant I've ever been to which meets the standards of my inner Northern Chinese dumpling snob. The filling is perfectly seasoned, and more importantly the wrappers are the right chewiness level, and hand rolled and folded properly so that the middle is thicker and the edges are thin. Everything we ate here was really good! I loved the chicken and corn dumplings since I just love the texture of corn. The dumpling orders come with a ton! You can also grab a bag of frozen ones to go. The chicken fried rice was spot on and really tasty. I would consider this a pretty bad option for any dumpling connoisseur. I was definitely intrigued by this hole in the wall spot, it certainly looked super promising. How I would describe it is a 50/50 split between cheap Chinese takeout, and gourmet Chinese. I love a good no frills restaurant, so the ambiance was no problem, and the food came out super quick. We started with the chow mein, not super authentic but I was craving it, pretty greasy but with a decent flavor, I was hoping for better. Follow this our boiled pork and chive dumplings arrived, in addition to an order of soup dumplings. The boiled dumplings were probably the best thing, super solid, but at $1 a dumpling I would consider this a bad deal. The soup dumplings were fairly priced, but were sadly extremely disappointing. We got seated, got tea and water at our table super quick and it was easy to flag down our waiter when necessary. We went here for dinner. The order consisted of crab meat and pork soup dumpling, chicken dumpling w/ chive, chicken chow mein and boiled fish fillet in hot chilli oil. The dumplings were okay. The soup dumplings had meager quantity of soup in them. The chicken dumplings were very small in size. The chow mein was better compared to the dumplings and was well seasoned and the chicken in it tasted good. The boiled fish in chilli oil had less amount of fish and more of the english cabbage which gave the entree a sweetish taste which did not go well with the fish. Although true to it's name had the fish oil taste and was heavily garnished with garlic. They do not serve rice with the entree and needs to be ordered separately. A word of caution; the owners are not well versed in english so please be patient while talking to the staff here. My boyfriend and I like to order the shrimp/chive dumplings, chicken/spinach dumplings, garlic bokchoy/eggplant w/basil or spicy eggplant and the general tsao's chicken (very spicy). We don't order all those veggies, we usually like to switch it up between the bokchoy and eggplant for variety. We've also ordered their fried rice a handful of times! Everything is packed with great flavor - the only thing I'll say is that the general tsao's chicken is not really spicy in my opinion (& I'm a wimp with spicy lol). I love the sauces the dumplings come with and they don't skimp out on the portions for the veggies! Prices are fair and you get a discount when you order online via their website, your order just needs to be over $30.
