Dumpling Wei in Brentwood surprised me in the best way The prices honestly made me expect smaller portions, but the dishes just kept coming. Perfect place for sharing family-style, and we still had plenty left for to-go. Handmade dumplings, noodles, rice dishes -- everything felt comforting and super filling without feeling overpriced for the Westside. Parking was also surprisingly easy, which already feels rare in this area The only thing I probably wouldn't order again was the boba. I usually don't like overly sweet drinks, but this one tasted a little too watered down for me personally. Definitely feels like a solid comfort food spot after a Westfield Century City run 5 stars because for a newly opened spot, everything felt surprisingly solid overall

Casual noodle dumpling place across the street from Pasadena City College. The prices are reasonable and you get decent portion sizes. I got the beef roll, lots of tender beef and sauced just enough. The wrapper was excellent, thin and crispy but not greasy. I also got the shrimp dumplings with sauce and peanuts, also really good. The garlic cucumbers were garlic forward but under-seasoned. Overall, the items I tried leads me to want to check out the rest of the menu especially the noodle dishes and stir fries. 5 stars

Tomato & Egg Noodle and Lao Gan Ma Fried Noodles w/ Chicken

Affordable and casual Chinese dining experience in Pasadena. The store is located right across from Pasadena community college and there is ample street parking. They might also have a small lot available for customers, but I wasn't able to locate it. The ambience inside is clean and there are plenty of tables. You order at the counter and sit down - you can also grab water for yourself from a dispenser as well as soy sauce/vinegar and garlic. We ordered the tomato and egg noodle and Lao Gan Ma stir fried noodles with chicken. The portions on both of these dishes were absolutely huge, which was great value especially for the price. The tomato and egg noodle were authentic and well-made, not too sweet like some of the versions tend to be. The stirfry noodles were on the salt to your side, but also very authentic and tasty. There was a strong soy sauce flavor, but not too much chili kick to it. They have a large menu and I'm really excited to come back and try some more of their dishes. It definitely feels almost like home cooking! Highly recommend and I will be coming back soon!

Affordable AND delicious? That's become a rare combo. Ordered the potstickers and hand pulled onion pancake with lamb. Great favors at an excellent price. The potstickers came out piping hot and were served with a savory sauce. Delicious, tender filling and a great chew to the dumpling wrapping. Reminded me of growing up in the San Gabriel Valley and being spoiled by these flavors growing up.

On a Sunday morning at 11am in March, my sister and I decided to have lunch here. We found street parking. It wasn't easy since church people took all the spots. We were nicely greeted by the staff person. First, we ordered at the order desk braised beef noodle soup, pan fried dumplings, xlb dumplings, bao stuffed dumplings meat. There are nice Chinese music playing in the background. There are some tables and self service of water, dipping sauce, plates. First the beef noodle soup arrived and I like to drink a spoonful of the broth which was rich in flavor. The staff person explained they cook the broth for long hours and everything are freshly made. The beef chucks was lean not fatty and noodles cooked just right. Next the pan fried dumplings and xlb dumplings tasted really good, I didn't eat the bao dumpling since I was too full. Overall very good place if you are craving dumplings and it's across from pcc.

Looking to try a new Chinese spot in the Pasadena area, I came across Dumpling Wei with some enticing pictures to their menu and became curious about this new spot. In a rush and wanting to take some food to-go, I decided to come in and look at their menu. With most of their food hovering around the 15 dollar price tag, I decided to order the Garlic Pork Ribs ($15.50) and the Boiled Fish ($15.50) and got the food to take home. Examining the quantity of food, I would say there definitely was more to be expected. Looking at the Garlic Pork Ribs first, I was expecting the quantity to match those of the other dishes offered on the menu. But looking at the given to-go container, there were only 13 pieces of small, sparerib sized pork. Because each piece was mostly made up of bone, I finished the dish still feeling very hungry. In the Pasadena area, there are many other restaurants one can go where the dishes give more for the same price. Because of this, the price to portion ratio was low. The same could be said for the Boiled Fish as it was a small bowl filled with just a few pieces of fish. Both of the dishes together could make one full. But even then, the price to portion ratio is very steep. Taste-wise, the food was pretty good overall. With the pork ribs, the outside was coated which gave off a sweet flavor. Combined with the green onions and black beans, the flavor was quite rich and very well composed. The meat was moist and used the garnishes to its benefit. But because the amount of meat was so little, the flavors dissipated fast. As for the boiled fish, the bowl had a similar taste to a bowl of malatang. With a very intense spice and a numbing flavor, the bowl is definitely only for those with high spice tolerance. But luckily, the ingredients were good as well. The wooden ears tasted soft and chewy, while the fish was very soft and broke apart easily. I personally wouldn't order the boiled fish again. But it wasn't bad by any means. Dumpling Wei was a surprise that I was not expecting. The flavors of the food were satisfying and authentic to a T. But because of the price to portion ratio and the lack of quantity of each dish, Dumpling Wei sits at a modest 3 star rating. While lower quantities of food are recognizable in this area, they are usually attributed to more expensive foods at different classes of restaurants. In all, Dumpling Wei can be a great choice if you are looking to overlook the quantity for some tasty Chinese food.

What I got: Golden Beef Belly Noodle Soup Garlic Pork Ribs Xiao long bao Lao Gan Ma Fried Noodles with Chicken Pig Ear in Chili Oil Pork Wonton in Chili Oil Beef Roll Cold Cucumber Stir Fried Eggplant Authentic Northern Chinese and women owned restaurant that's serves handmade noodles , dumplings and other traditional dishes. I really love this place! Everything that I got tastes sooo delicious! Very authentic. Portion is good for sharing, every bite just soo delicious! I'm glad there's an authentic Chinese restaurant in Pasadena that's affordable and very delicious! Food is that good! Service is amazing, everyone's really friendly and they explained the dishes really well if you have a question, all utensils, water and self serve. Ambiance is casual and authentic modern Chinese. Plenty of seating inside and have street parking. I can't choose a favorite because everything's soo delicious! It's super flavorful! We really enjoyed dining here! I will definitely comeback and try their other dishes! This is now my go to Chinese restaurant.

The ambiance is everything here! Dumpling Wei is situated across PCC on Colorado Blvd, serving up its signature dumplings, wontons and XLBs. I loved trying their noodle dishes as well, you can't ever go wrong with Dan Dan Mein. There was just the right amount of peanut sauce too! One of my favorite stand out dishes was the Smoked Duck roll. I love how the dishes are shareable. The staff are easy to talk to and thoughtfully curated suggestions to match which appetizers went best with whichever mains. I also tried their Dream Of You drink and it's a fun dessert-like drink, layering black sesame cream over horchata. What I truly love is how they balance traditional dishes with a few creative experimental ones, if you haven't been, I highly recommend.

Fantastic Chinese food here, super authentic and tasty. The garlic string beans were some of the best I ever had, and the pork wontons and pan fried dumplings were so delicious. The wontons had peanuts in the chili oil for added crunch, and the pork wontons were super juicy. We also had the beef roll pancake, which had the perfect proportions of hoisin sauce, cilantro, and beef. Altogether the food was outstanding, and the interior decoration was very classy and gorgeous. The service was good as well, although having to grab our own bowls/plates/utensils and bus our own tables afterward felt very out of place for such a nice establishment. I definitely think I overtipped given how much of the service was self service.

We found this place walking down the block looking for lunch after dropping off the car to get tires rotated. You need to order first and then they'll bring your food to your table. We ordered the eggplant and beef roll. Utensils, water, napkins, sauces, and take out containers are self serve. They ask that you please help bus your own table after you finish eating (it's at the right of the restaurant in front of the bathroom). Place is clean and modern looking. I do wish the beef roll had slightly more pieces for the price but overall delicious. Service was friendly.

Dan Dan Noodle, Chicken Fried Rice, and Kung Pao Chicken
    Sandy S.

We were in Pasadena for an appointment and stopped here for lunch. It's right across the street from PCC. Not a ton of parking in the back but we managed to snag a spot. Upon walking in they ask that you order first before sitting down. The restaurant is quite small and we did have a stroller and was worried we wouldn't find a good spot to fit the stroller but it did work out. The food was so delicious. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken, beef rolls, Dan Dan noodles and chicken fried rice. I don't typically care for Kung pao chicken but was surprised by how authentic it was. Had the right amount of spicy and saucy. Dan Dan noodles are always my go to as well as beef rolls. Both were so good. The fried rice was also not bad. Usually the chicken comes out over cooked for in tiny pieces but they gave us decent sized chicken bits and it was not over cooked at all. Love it and so bummed I don't live in Pasadena anymore because I'd be here often if I did.

Super friendly service! Their food is fresh and delicious. Their broth dumplings & cucumber garlic were my favorite. It's self service so you order at the front then sit down & clean up after yourself. Super cute cozy hole in the wall. Definitely recommend stopping by. Prices are affordable for the quality of food & service they provide 10/10

Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. The service is consistently great... attentive, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. Fair warning for anyone new to Sichuan cuisine, the dominant flavor is "spicy". That said, the dishes are not just about heat... they're layered, aromatic, and incredibly well-balanced. Every dish I've tried has been outstanding, both in flavor and presentation. Aromatic, flavorful, and the spices are just on point. Dan Dan Noodles 9/10 - Solid and consistently good. The sauce is properly seasoned and truly compliments the perfectly cooked noodles. Shredded Cabbage with Pork 9/10 - Not to be confused with twice cooked pork. This dish is so simple and bland looking, but it's packed with flavor... so good! Garlic Pork Belly 8/10 - This is a cold dish. The meat was perfectly cooked and properly coated in chili oil. Solid and consistently good. Kung Pao Chicken 8/10 - In my opinion, it's an elevated Kung Pao Chicken. Solid and consistently good.
