I loved Eataly. There were so many food options that it was honestly hard to decide, but we were really just looking for a snack/light lunch. Ended up picking up a baguette, package of prosciutto and a package of fresh mozzarella. It was about $11 and we got a good snack for 2 people. A lot of the selections looked good and they have restaurants inside as well. 4 stars because prices on certain stuff seem a little too high (pizza, sandwiches), but the location and high quality of product probably warrants that. I should have known better. However my husband and I decided to join two friends of ours to have a look at the new Boston version of this emporium/circus. All I had to do was look at my review from a couple of years back of the NYC Eataly to be reminded that not only am I decidedly not a fan of the smug, imperious and self-promoting arbiter of all things Italian, Mario Batali, but that I really hated NYC' version of Eataly. If you love crowds, being cheek to jowl with throngs of humanity, being jostled and pushed, finding (some) lovely but overpriced items, having upwards of a 90 minute wait to get a bite to eat...well then my friends this is the place for you. I just don't get what the draw is...especially since most of the items being sold here can be found elsewhere and without that much difficulty. The only saving grace was that I was able to squeeze myself close enough to one of the bars so that I could order a glass of prosecco. I was able to take that flute of prosecco with me as I minced my way through the store. Having a little alcohol fortification was key as my husband, friends and I tried to look around this sweaty madhouse. While you are enjoying the displays, .don't forget to look at the cute Eataly tote bags for sale....made in China. Save your money. Go to Italy instead. Eataly: I will never be back. read more

The salad wasn't seasoned at all and bland as well as having tough carrot shavings so large they have a zipcode and the somehow made fennel flavorless. I've never seen this kind of establishment before but what a great concept...a little grocery store selling fresh produce with healthy fast food diners in the middle of the market. Has a big wide array of selection of groceries which is well designed and sectioned including a variety of cheese, olives, meats, breads etc. prices are all well reasonable. This location offers a coffee shop, gelato shop and a few restaurants. I suggest going to La Pizza and La Pasta and get the Capracio Di Manzo. La Piazza offers happy hour during weekdays from 4-6PM which I believe are $1 oysters and 3 for $19 charcuterie board. Most of the restaurants are lil pricier than usual Italian spots but it's as expected with its location. If there's one thing you at least have to try is their gelatos! So good and creamy! Okay I'm disappointed I didn't see a nutella bar like the other location but their handmade pastas made me forget the lacking of Nutella bar. Their menu changes often, I was lucky enough to have a taste of their pappardelle from their March 2017 menu. It was one of the best pappardelle pastas ever. Cooked in mushrooms, the pasta was very thin. Sauce to mushroom and pasta ratio was perfect! They have pasta section by the front coming from outside entrance (not the mall entrance). Pastas are made in house, you can watch them make it in the front and take some home. I got the black truffle mushroom tortellini to bring back home with parmesan cheese I got from the cheese section. My tip is, pick your pasta, take it over to cheese section and ask what cheese goes best with the pasta. They'll suggest a couple with different age. read more

Family members who LIVE in Italy specifically visit Eataly to find specialty food and dine in the restaurant when they are in the United States. So. If someone from Italy likes Eataly, that means it's pretty great, no? I think so! For a person like myself, it is almost overwhelming to be surrounded by so many food choices, and beverages and cheeses and meats and gelato and chocolate and pastas and and and ... just everything. There is just so much here. So many good things to eat and drink. We ate at one of the restaurants in Eataly. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. We got a margherita pizza and cacio e pepe. The cacio e pepe was cooked perfectly al dente, and the pizza was delicious, as well. We are at the Pasta and Pizza restaurant. We had a lovely time! Pros: Margherita pizza is made just like they make it in Italy! It is so thin, barely any cheese, but the cheese that is there is soft and delectable! The pizza oven is at high heat, so pizzas are cooked in ~ 90 seconds. They have a good amount of vegetarian options: Cacio e Pepe is a must order. The spaghetti is clearly made fresh made. You can tell as soon as you take one bite. The sauce is to die for- butter, black pepper, and a blend of Italian cheeses. A traditional dish that I was impressed was made very well. We also ordered a lemon butter sauce ravioli filled with split pea, spinach, and ricotta topped with pistachios. This was a beautiful dish as well. Cons: There's basically always a wait. We came for lunch around 3:30 pm on Saturday and had to wait 30 minutes. I don't know what the wait is like around 12 pm... The bread they serve is cold. And it tastes like cardboard. I'm not sure why they don't serve hot Italian white bread, especially when they have these beautiful ovens openly displayed. Eataly is just a foodie Disneyland! Newly opened and similar to the one in New York but better laid out and organized. Food Network's Mario Batali has really outdone himself by putting this upscale food paradise in the middle of the Prudential Center. Disneyland has its FutureWorld and Frontierland, but at Eataly you have Pasta World, Coffee Land, Wine Street and Cheese Town. Your tastebuds and olfactory lobes get a wild ride on the cheese wheels and prosciutto slicers! There are sit down areas to enjoy prepared foods in addition to the market areas. A key place to hit is the fresh pastaleria (did I just make up a word?) where every size, shape, length & color of noodle is cranked out from the mounds of semolina flour bags stacked up. Tortellini or ? Eight varieties and that's just today. Check out the fresh sliced prosciutto and the automatic packaging machine. Across from there, I was eyeing some funky kitchen utensils. Some specialty stuff I'll probably use once if ever, but they look cool in my kitchen drawers. There's even a Lidia Bastianich School of Cooking in here! Towards the end the coffee bar is packed but next to it is a stand for prime rib sandwiches which I couldn't pass up! Mmmmm... Prices are premium, but you pay for freshness, taste and stuff you can't get anywhere else except if you hunt down specialty shops all over town or the world. I wanted to check this place out since I first heard it was opening, but since I don't live in Boston anymore, I had to wait, but it worked out, because it gave the hype a chance to die down a bit and so the place won't be so crowded. I like this place, because it's like an Italian public market with all kinds of stuff from pasta to honey and there are stalls and restaurants for you to enjoy. I was in love with all the prosciutto, it reminded me of Italy and even Spain's mercado. We sat down and got freshly made pasta and pizza, which were both delicious and went to the counter of desserts and got tiramisu, then to the Lavazza to get Italian's favorite coffee. Eataly encompasses the whole market that includes a bunch of Italian restaurants inside. Overall, the entire place was pretty packed since there was a conference going on nearby. The quickest line was for the sliced focaccia pizzas. We were on a time crunch and decided that would be the best option. I got the funghi pizza and it was very, very mushroomy. Every bite was filled with mushrooms. I did get a little tired if it towards the end. On the plus side, the texture of the focaccia was nice and soft. I'm completely underwhelmed by Eataly, particularly for the subpar service across many of the department staff I had interacted with. I like the concept of bringing different aspects and specialty items that encompass Italian cuisine all in one place, but really the space can be hard to navigate when so many people are all in there trying to do the same as you, too. Popularity among Bostonians is actually a good sign that this place is addressing unmet needs, so I will not critique the crowded space aspect. I've been in Eataly numerous time, for sir down meals, for grocery/supermarket browsing and for purchasing takeaway food. It amazed me how service was so equally subpar across all my visits: my waiter at La Pizza La Pasta was just simply rude to customers and showed bad behaviors right on the floor he worked (I reviewed that place separately already), the guy at the coffee bar looked super annoyed at me when I asked if he could check what my balance on the Eataly giftcard was (I had to ask someone because after spending so much time searching on googlr, I wasn't able to find any answer to that. And when I was there was nobody in line when I asked him either!!). Last straw was at the pizza takeaway spot. The lady who was taking a pizza literrally had frowning crabby face when all customers were taking orders. No responses/words from her. Just a dead stare and real frown showing wither she really didn't want to be there and that she was doing us a favor for ringing our pizza orders up. It's clear this place needs to train their employees better. It doesn't matter if you are a well known Eataly brand or a not so well known one. Knocking a star off my initial review. I have been back for quick lunches, snacks and coffees after posting my initial review posted after my experience on opening day. The thing that makes me absolutely crazy about this place is the ridiculous point of sale system they are using. Anytime you pay with a credit card, you have to select credit, approve the amount, and then SIGN for all transactions, even a $2 cup of coffee! This is so insane and slows things down so much. Why? Why? Also, while most of the staff are fine, I've encountered some extremely surly people working here. A few times I've approached the deli counter only to have to wait for employees to finish up their personal conversations to take my order. I've also overheard the staff complaining about customers right out on the floor. This is so unprofessional! As someone else mentioned, they really need to train their staff in better manners and professionalism. read more

There was plenty to look at (widespread selection of foods and drinks) and the atmosphere was very warm. Ultimately settled at La Pescheria during happy hour (4-6pm weekdays). The line moved fairly fast (~15 minutes) and the servers were very courteous and friendly. I recommend getting there around 5:30pm latest in order to have enough time to order seconds if you want. My friend and I ordered a dozen of the $1 oysters which were SO fresh. Definitely will be visiting again soon! Heads-up: Oysters must be ordered in multiples of 6! 11/10 would recommend! read more

This place is delicious in so many ways. I am definitely a fan. I ordered fresh pasta paparadelle with mushroom ragout. It was amazing. Fresh pasta definitely makes a huge difference. The wine list was also excellent. We sat at the bar area and the bartender helped us make good selections. The market surrounding the eating area was also fabulous, with many items I had never seen before, even at my local Italian market. My mouth was definitely watering. What an awesome stop to make! It has everything you need and alot you just want! The pastries were so delicious, we bought a sampler and shared it to remove some of the guilt. It worked very well so we also split some taralli's for the ride home. Best ones are with the rosemary, fennel and olive oil. Shopping here was like a whole foods for Italians. My husband and I were excited to try out Eataly during their $25 deal for an appetizer and entree earlier, so we had to stop by! The atmosphere was nice and the customer service was great as they helped us get seated quickly. Everything sounded really great, including the wine choices. We ordered the sliced raw fish of the day (crude del giorno) and mushroom pasta (tagliatelle al ragu di funghi) from the $25 deal menu, then also ordered the truffle egg yolk pasta (tajarin con tartufo nero) and the 18-month prosciutto. Out of everything we ordered, we mostly enjoyed the prosciutto. I must say, the pastas were a bit mediocre and not what we expected. We love truffle and we had truffle egg yolk pasta before from other places, but the truffle was way too subtle, barely noticeable, in this pasta. I enjoyed the mushroom pasta more. I would say if I'm in the mood for some Italian dishes, I would much rather go to North End for some finer options. read more

I did a sit down lunch at the fish restaurant (20 min wait on a weekday 2pm) and although the food was ok/good, I overall felt that it was way too pricey for what you receive. Service was average since it was their first week opening and it was busy. Complimentary bread was cold and average. 1) Market fish - Striped bass which was made tender, a bit too salty and had kale under it. Overall portion was tiny for the $23 I paid. Eataly is an epic Italian market full of pop-up restaurants, counters, and specialty Italian food located in the Prudential Center in Boston. Walking through here felt like a foodie's dream. Fresh Italian pasta, cheeses, meats...you name it! Yes, a lot of the items are pricey, but they are authentically Italian and imported. So don't come here to buy all your groceries, but if you're trying to cook an authentic Italian recipe, you can easily come here for the main ingredients. I expected it to be extremely crowded. We came here on Easter afternoon and then on Marathon Monday and it was surprisingly not too busy. The busiest parts are the restaurant areas, but if you're planning on grabbing some more casual grub or something from the market, it wasn't too busy at all. We grabbed some lunch at the focaccia and salad pop-up counters. I got a wild mushroom focaccia and some veggies from the salad counter. The focaccias are HUGE, and most are between $4-7, which is an awesome price for lunch. Normally I'm not a huge fan of provolone, but it tasted like Parmesan on my focaccia, and I quite enjoyed it! I got some cauliflower and broccoli as a side from the salad pop up, and I was quite full and satisfied. It was a lovely meal and I can't wait until the Eataly in LA opens so I can make a regular trip. read more

The closest the chef came was looking at the dish with thoughts of spare ribs. No offer to replace the dish, talk with the kitchen, or take the item off the bill. I tried the pizza and crêpe with lavazza coffee. The pizza was cold, small and expensive. Maybe the other food was nicer. At least, the hams hanging on the ceiling looked very tempting. This place is not as crowded anymore, compared to their opening week. There's still an hour long wait-list to eat at the sit-downs on a Thursday night, but there's tons to look at while you're waiting and more space to walk around without feeling like you're at a Black Friday sale. A friend and I tried out the little coffee shop by the Boylston Street entrance. The hot chocolate is ridiculous. This is when you know a place is legit because the hot chocolate is literally hot molten chocolate, more similar to pudding than a beverage. I hear it's the same in Italy. La Pizza La Pasta has acceptable prices for the quality of the food. I don't think it's overpriced, generally around high teens-low twenties, and considering they made pasta fresh and in house. I think their pizza is worth the trip if you like more fluffy, soft breads, not hard, thin crisps. I got the stamp of approval from an Milanese friend on their pizza. The desserts are very attractive, especially the limoncello and tiramisu, and the gelato has the option of being shoved under a flowing stream of nutella. Overall, very much worth a trip just to see the sights and taste the tastes. I would definitely recommend for everything from a quick bite at the sandwhich bar to a coffee date to a full on friday night dinner adventure, after which you can pick up a bottle of wine & some groceries. I love walking around Eataly. It's a fun space to look at the different kinds of pasta, olive oils, wines, fish, and desserts. It's crowded and people are brushing against you just walking down the aisles but there's a certain charm to that as well. I've never really eaten here but I never forget to stop at 'Il Gelato'. Yes, it is on the expensive side but their flavors are magnifico!!! I usually get hazelnut and pistachio...my two favorite flavors! Like many ice cream stores these days, they let you sample as many flavors as you'd like before making your choice. So I'll sample a few that I've never had before but always end up choosing hazelnut and pistachio. From what I remember, their tiramisu and milk flavors were eccellente as well! I highly recommend II Gelato for a rich, creamy and smooth dessert! You will not be disappointed. read more
