From the start, he was welcoming and helped me navigate the menu -- his recommendations were on point (especially with the bone marrow and mushrooms). You could tell he knew what he was talking about, but he explained everything in a personable way. What I appreciated most was how on top of things he was without hovering. Drinks were always full, food came out perfectly timed, and he checked in just enough to make sure we were good. It's rare to get this type of service so I really appreciated it. I visited your Sacramento location yesterday for dinner. I ordered a rib eye steak medium rare which was tough. Ive have eaten many rib eyes and know what they taste like and their texture. I enjoy rib eyes for their flavor and tenderness. Your steak fell far short from this. At the end of our meal my wife told the waitress my steak was tough and she said she would tell the chef. After we left I asked our friend who also order the rib eye (rare) how his steak was and he said it was tough and not worth $50. Does anyone in your kitchen taste the meat? I have had far better steaks at Ruth Chris, Morton's and even at Texas Road House for half the price. I will not vist your restaurant again. By far the slowest service I've experienced in awhile. Made a reservation for Echo and Rig for my bffs early birthday on OpenTable. Echo and Rig is located in DOCO right across the Golden 1 Center but it can be confusing if you're not from the area or familiar with DOCO. The restaurant was not busy at all and we were seated almost right away. We ordered bottomless bloody Mary's, oysters and brunch food. After getting our first drink, subsequent drinks took 15-20 minutes. Our oysters took 30-35 minutes, and our food took over an hour. Unfortunately, the food was not worth the wait. I am very used to waiting for food, especially in SF but I was quite disappointed with our meal. I got the short rib hash which was meh. Meat was pretty dry, the potatoes were diced so small, and the only thing I enjoyed were the eggs on top. My friend ordered the steak frites and his piece of steak looked like the size of a credit card (or maybe a bit smaller). The oysters were good though! We had a fantastic time at Echo & Rig! We had a big party of ten today as we wanted to do a girls night. The restaurant was SO accommodating. We requested patio seating in the original reservation but given their patio got busy they upgraded us to have a private seating area so we could enjoy indoors but still be COVID cautious with multiple pregnant women in our party. The service was friendly and on point the entire time! On to the food. We ordered appetizers to share, the calamari was good but I liked the portobello mushroom strips best. The garlic mashed potatoes paired excellently as a side dish and the brussel sprouts were soo good! I was most impressed by their extensive list of halal steaks! Most restaurants that carry Creekstone steaks have maybe one steak option but this place had 5-6 options! Even their fillet mignon was halal! And the server definitely knew what he was talking about when it came to halal dietary restrictions. He told us fried food did have cross-contamination so got us spinach instead and made sure there was no alcohol reduction or pork in any of our foods. They offered virgin blueberry mojito and passionfruit mocktails, I got the latter and it was delicious. Our party enjoyed all our orders including steaks, salmon, and scallops. My husband and I went for dinner and wow, it was amazing. Everything we had was a 10/10. To start, their bread was fresh and DELICIOUS. We also had Shrimp Cocktail, the Pork Chop, Filet, Roasted Carrots, and Mashed Potatoes. Literally every bite was perfect. We highly recommend! The prices weren't bad for a good higher end meal. This is a love letter to Echo & Rig. I'm writing this while salivating over my leftovers from last night. Not to be dramatic, but every moment was fantastic. The hostess was friendly and able to get us a table pretty quickly. The bartender made the best dirty martini I've had in a while - and he even used castelvetrano olives! We ordered the cauliflower (crispy and tangy), mac and cheese (crispy onions on top omg!), and mashed potatoes (creamy) - all absolutely delicious. I had the New York Strip (medium rare) and it was perfection - flavorful and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Still salivating. Paired it with a Malbec. The manager even stopped by to greet us, which was a nice touch. The cherry on top was our server, Sebastian! He was prompt, professional, warm & friendly. Ambiance was comfortable, up-scale but not stuffy. I wish I had photos, but I was clearly too enamored with the experience. In conclusion, this seems to be a really well-run restaurant. HIGHLY recommend! P.S. Please give Sebastian a kiss on the forehead or a free steak or something. read more

Echo & Rig is a fantastic steakhouse at DOCO for special occasions! I came here recently for dinner and had an exceptional experience. We had reservations at 9:30 on a Friday and were seated shortly. The menu was dated for the day we went, which was always a good sign. For appetizers, we ordered the Pork Belly Burnt Ends ($12) and Cauliflower with chili de arbol, crispy shallots and onion ($10). The pork belly was phenomenal! It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The cauliflower was, tasty, unique and an excellent choice. For the entrée, I ordered the rib eye with brandy mushroom sauce ($42). The rib eye was great quality and sinfully delicious! The brandy mushroom sauce was an excellent addition and added great flavor to an already great steak. The entrees come with a stuffed mushroom rockefeller and garlic chips. The mushroom was really good and the chips were okay. Service was top notch! Our server provided excellent customer service throughout dinner. He was friendly, polite, and offered us some wine and dessert for the celebration. The wine was excellent and the ice cream dessert was really tasty. The manager even came to greet us before our meal. Everyone we encountered that worked there was professional and polite. We had a great dining experience at Echo & Rig and would recommend it for special occasions or a good hangout when you are craving some good quality meats. I personally love the oysters, the mimosa (you get the whole bottle with juices of your choosing and mix it how you like it), French toast, and steak salad and too many to name. There were 2 bartenders on. Lemec the one that served me might need to go find a different job. Not attentive, so dry and just not the best service at all. The other bartender that was behind the bar when I sat down never even acknowledged me. After nearly 15 mins wondering if anyone is going to greet me Lemec came back from the back and finally I was able to get a drink in. I love the ambiance here but service definitely lacks. How have I never been here before? The place itself is beautiful and the staff was helpful and inviting. I was expecting this place to be super pricey but I have to say it was so much more reasonable than many other places I've been to, I was pleasantly surprised. I was bummed that the only tomahawk they had left was like 52 ounces, wayyyy too big for one person, but I'll try again as it's not something you commonly see on menus. The drinks were tasty, this may sound silly but my fellow Old Fashioned connoisseurs will understand, they make a darn good Old Fashioned! I had the smoked bacon one listed on the menu. I tried my friend's "The Pig & The Lady" and I thought it was pretty tasty, I was expecting a super fruity drink but was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. Food was phenomenal... and I don't throw that word out very often. I had the wagyu steak and it was cooked perfectly and oh so tender! The last wagyu I had at another restaurant recently was double the price and was terribly chewy and had no flavor. So I was relieved when I took my first bite to find that it was done right. My only complaint is that it was SOOOOOO hot inside the night that we went. When we walked out, it was cooler outside than inside, so not sure what that was about. Went to Echo and Rig for my wife's birthday, and unfortunately there was a King's game at the same time. Valet would not park us, as it was for hotel guests only due to the game. If you're going to put a restaurant in a hotel, you need to serve both. It took us 45 minutes to find parking because we could not valet. We had a reservation but still had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated "because there was a group ahead of us." Once seated, we waited 20 minutes before anyone came to our table, and that was just to bring us water. We waited another 10-15 minutes before anyone took drink and app orders. The food was wonderful, no complaints there. The biggest issue was service and ambiance. It was very dark in our booth, and it seemed like the lighting was out for half the restaurant. All the booths had on the right side hand lamps and lighting on and above the table, but none of them were on. People kept coming in to watch the game at the bar area, so it was so loud we couldn't hear ourselves talk across the table. We came for a restaurant, not a sports bar. Overall, the food was worth it. We will try again on a non-game day. Hopefully it will be better. read more

The Sacramento Echo and Rig location is great. There are about 10 barstools at the bar, and then several along the front window and in front of the bar that are first-come-first-serve. There are also a few low tables in front of the bar that are also first-come-first serve. There are then several tables and booths in the back that are walk-in or reservations. I'll preface that we have done walk-in at the bar many times prior to writing this review; we've never made reservations but if you are a large party or coming during a busy time/special event, I would suggest making reservations. Parking: There is parking validation for a portion of parking if you park at the Kimpton. Restroom: The restrooms are located in the lobby of the Kimpton hotel. Lighting, noise, and cleanliness: During the day, there is natural light & low lights inside. At night, there are low-mood lights inside. There is outdoor seating & service when weather permits. Staff: The lead bar Staff Dennis provided unparalleled service in managing the bar, providing descriptions of menu items, taking orders, and making delicious drinks. He has always made us feel welcomed and at-home when enjoying Echo & Rig. We had some interactions with other Staff and they were also friendly. We have tried nearly all menu items- you can't go wrong with any of the dishes and the prices. Here are a few of the items I started to review in my notes but did not review everything we have tried. Mac and Cheese ($12): Good creamy and cheesy flavor with a sprinkle of breadcrumbs on top- not salty or overpowering in flavor. The serving size is good for two to split as a side or to eat individually if really hungry; would order again. Garlic Mashed Potatoes ($10): Homemade, rich, and flavorful. The serving size is good for two to split as a side or to eat individually if really hungry; would order again. Caramel Turtle ($8): This is the best desert on the menu. The toffee crunch is made in house- huge chunks of fudge- and pure deliciousness. Do yourself a favor - if you are full get it to go to eat in bed when you get home. The pineapple and jalapeño chutney is sweet yet a good combo with the pork flavor. The actual pork chop is a good size serving; would order again. Tomato, Cucumber, Watermelon, & Red Onion Small Plate ($10): Overall good flavor combination but the cucumbers are spear shape not thin cut which was not my preference. The menu description of prawns as "jumbo" is an exaggeration, but the regular-sized bites were still tasty (3 for $10). Avocado toast is served on a fab slice of pumpernickel bread. tl;dr: great food, great drinks, great service. Amazing when they're slow, wanting when they're not. If you want to take the safe bet of a great steak, Echo and Rig is nothing if not consistent. My first visit here was several years ago, shortly after they opened, on a Saturday afternoon. The (floor?) manager introduced himself after we were seated and offered his recommendations for starters and mains. We were incredibly indecisive and and had only picked one appetizer to go along with our mains, the bone marrow. To our surprise, a short while later, the bone marrow arrived along with bacon and the pork belly burnt ends. The manager had explained that because it was our first time, he wanted to pass along his gratitude for giving them a chance so the extra appetizers were on the house. If you're looking to make an amazing first impression, this is certainly a way to do it. I'm happy to say that the quality of the food and service has remained the same as time has passed. My most recent visit was a few days ago on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was at about half capacity and we happened to walk in when the host was on break, so no-one was at the door to seat us right away. A server noticed us waiting at the entrance and was extremely apologetic for the wait, even though we had only been there for about 30 seconds. We were seated, placed our order, and had our small plates with our cocktails in front of us in roughly 10 minutes. Another 15 minutes went by and our mains were delivered, along with our second round of drinks. The bone marrow asada was just as amazing as it was the first time and our steaks were cooked perfectly. If you've never been here, the bone marrow is the one thing I'd say is a must order. The restaurant itself is modern and sleek, very inviting, and has cozy booths with tables sprinkled throughout. It can get pretty warm inside, especially if you're sitting near the kitchen. If you can, I would definitely take a patio table instead of sitting inside as it can get quite stuffy and the aroma of food might stick to your clothes (unless you're into that sorta thing). If you're lucky, you might catch a Kings player or a member of the opposing team grabbing a bite or sitting in the neighboring hotel lobby. The only complaint I have about Echo and Rig is that the wait times for literally everything scales with how busy the restaurant is, who would have guessed? There have been a few occasions where we visited during peak dinner time, Friday or Saturday evening. If the restaurant is packed, you can expect your small plates to take 20-30 minutes to make it to your table and your mains another 30 minutes to an hour, making your whole visit 2+ hours when you factor in drinks and the wait to be seated with a reservation. Don't have a reservation and it's busy? Don't bother, you'll be waiting over an hour easily unless the bar is available. It seems that the restaurant not only slows down service when busy, but also doesn't add floor staff for the extra seats. Again, when it's busy, it can take a very long time to get your drinks or even your water refills. Overall, Echo and Rig is a safe bet for a great meal. I would give a 4.5 if I could. read more

Echo and Rig is definitely worth a visit if you enjoy well made cocktails, delicious food, a top notch atmosphere and exceptional service. Anthony, our bartender when I visited, made some of the best old fashioned's that I've had in quite some time. Anthony's presentation added to the quality as well. Color me impressed! I didn't get to try all the food as we had visited another local establishment for dinner before the show, but we did try the crab cakes and they were delicious. I'll be back again soon to explore more of Echo and Rig's menu in the near future. read more

Her and her friend's excuse was that all the tables were reserved. Really ? at 9.30pm? On a Tuesday? All 10 empty tables? Ps. No one came in. I had made a reservation for five people. Two of us arrived about 20 minutes early and although there were very few diners in the restaurant, they asked that the majority of our party be there before they seated us. Fair enough, we sat in the cocktail area. The bartender's back was to us for 5 to 10 minutes before the host walked over and asked him to serve us drinks. When our table was ready, we did have to close out our tab at the bar, which is fine but it's just not great. Once we were seated at our table, I ordered the hanger steak medium rare. It was more done than I expected for medium rare. When I pointed it out to the server, he said yeah that looks a little over. Then said they'd have to start a new one for me if I wanted so I just said never mind. There was also a significant amount of juice on the plate which leads me to believe they didn't rest it long enough. It was just disappointing for a place that's supposed to be a steakhouse. The server did bring a complementary sundae for dessert. I don't know if that was to make up for the steak or just cause. Stopped by for brunch on Sunday mid-morning, the place was so empty I couldn't believe it. We were promptly greeted and seated. However, service was slow. DONT DO IT! I was so excited for the bottomless bloodys as it's the only place in town that really does this but honestly, probably the worst Bloody Mary I have EVER had even Zing Zang is better. The brunch food, my breakfast was also very underwhelming I had the Steak Frites & Eggs and the star of the show were the fries. Not to mention the Béarnaise Sauce, just gross. My friend said there is no way that sauce is made in house, it's jarred, I agree. I can't recommend Echo & Rig. This is really a hotel steak house restaurant. The bar lounge is quite large but with a tiny tv. The customers appear from the hotel, largely business types. The food area is quite small and empty compared the the lounge area. To the food, the rib eyes were tough and thin and the mashed potatoes tasteless, seemingly from a mix. The mac n cheese and cocktails were very good. Customer Service was outstanding. I was disappointed after hearing so much about Vegas steakhouses, but after dropping $3 bills here, I'll go elsewhere next time, too bad. read more
