Tonight's dinner (12-23-24) didn't go so well. The young lady that was our server was outstanding. She did a great job. The cook on the other hand, not so much. Out of the 5 times we have been there, I order the rib eye steak every time. The first 2 times it was a wonderful meal with service to match. The last 3 times on the other hand not so much. Medium well is just a wee bit of pink inside. Rare is cooked on the outside, red all the way through but warm. I've cooked in the past. There is a huge difference between the 2. Last time it was taken back, returned medium at best. Even the server said, OH, that's not right. I just told them give me a box. Wife was already almost done with her meal. Same thing happened tonight. Blood rare steak sent back, medium rare at best returned and it wasn't even hot, luke at best. Again the server took a pic, left the table and the night manager returned. I hadn't even asked 4 the manager. Both the server and manager did a really nice job. The last time the manager also showed up without being asked 4. Again both the server and manger did a great job without being asked for. 1 bad meal I can handle. 2 bad meals of the same thing on different week nights, really? Yep, third bad meal in a row on a different week night is the charm. If you would like good service, its your place. If you like rare steak, its your place. If you would like anything other than rare rib eye with out sending it back, its NOT your place. Even after sending it back, getting it back, the servers and managers agreed, its not even close. The first 2 dinners and service were great. So what happened? I'm done with them. read more

Ever since the Pandemic started 830 Common has been hit and miss but more miss lately. Food is great but service feels just like when Flatbread was there. Actually spent more time waited to be greeted and given a bill than time eating. Won't be back for awhile. read more

Hands down one of my favorite spots in the Treasure Valley! From the drinks to the apps to the entrees I've never had something here I did not like. It's one of my favorite brunch spots and happy hour spots. Staff is nice but a little slim (like everywhere else) so have patience. Make a reservation first otherwise you'll most likely be waiting. I'm going to start off by saying that the drinks and the bartenders are amazing. This review doesn't reflect them whatsoever. My review is solely on one server and her name is Jasmine. My husband and I had never been and we were so excited to try out this place. We were sat down and given menus and no one had approached us for about 10-15ish minutes. Honestly no big deal at all...she approached us and took a drink order for us and appetizers. We mentioned we had never been here before. Our drinks come back and so did the appetizers and the drinks are absolutely delicious. Our server comes back and asks us what we want to order. I ask how big the salad is and just her opinion on it. (Mind you we have never been) she responds with "you know what guys I have 4 other tables and I'm really busy here's the menu again so you can take another look..it's that kinda night" then proceeds to walk away. I understand that places get busy and I could've been upset because we hadn't been approached for a good while when we arrived but I was trying to be understanding. That whole encounter was rude and not okay. At that point we wanted the check and honestly just wanted to leave due to her demeanor. At that pint I had lost my appetite and didn't care to order anything else.We made sure to tip the bartenders because the drinks were exceptional. Unfortunately I do not think we will venture back to that place because we'd hate to be one of the four tables Jasmine is trying to juggle. So very disappointed. read more

Took my wife and family here today for brunch. Doughnuts were hard n cold,not worth the money.. We all ordered Benedict's. The muffins are fantastic. We all had poached eggs that were hard?? All of us. The bacon is fantastic and the meats are great. Good place , atmosphere....someone needs to show them how to cook poached eggs! read more

The food was delicious the service was over the top he was attentive and answered all questions gave suggestions it was a wonderful eating experience. The one this that happened that was very unusual and uncomfortable was I used the restroom a young man actively kept trying to get my restroom. When I open the door came out he was trying to push me back in the restroom and when I pushed past him said he was rude then him and his father followed my and my 2 girl friends out of the restaurant in to the parking. Lot talking shit to us. This place is warm, and pretty friendly. "Steve" the bartender made an outstanding Michelada, and other delicious libations. Cool atmosphere for sure for a smaller little pub. Food is tasty too. In Meridian decided to stop here for dinner. Haven't been here since they opened, place was pretty vibrant and we got the last table without any weight fortunately. Really like the menu everything is well thought out, ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with you is a blend of Kobe beef, taste was good kind of small portion though in my opinion if they were going to be known for good burgers. The burgers are topped with a cheese stuffed tater tot which are offered on the appetizer selection. What a great idea, they are amazing, I liked it better than the burger. We ordered a salad to share and this is my biggest complaint, absolutely tiny tiny portion, with the cost of lettuce there's no reason to be the skimpy. Usually we do weekend brunch here and love it. This week I tried their weekday lunch menu. The blue cheese bacon burger was the best ever!! Not sure what they seasoned the Kobe patty with but best burger flavor I have had in my life for sure!! Also, the candied bacon was divine. Prices are at the high end for a weekday lunch, so won't do this often. It was about $38 for the burger and 2 mimosas, meal for one. read more

We ended up here after learning that sushi shack wasn't serving alcohol and we were celebrating. We were pleasantly surprised! The food was fantastic! I have mixed feelings. The food is usually decent enough here, but staffing issues have increasingly made Eight Thirty Common an unpleasant experience. This latest time, my wife and I sat at the bar watching the bartender serve her obnoxious and self important boyfriend free beer while leaning into his every word. He was loud enough that my wife and I were involuntarily trapped in the center of an absolutely brutal conversation where the fellow shouted back and forth with a customer all the way at the other end of the bar about every single motorcycle and busted up vehicle he has ever owned in his life. This followed with a painful recant of their three and a half month dating history. No one cared about his politics or why he moved to Idaho either, but everyone had to hear it. The only interruption to the cacophony was his running behind the bar to grab and take out a heavy trash bag she didn't want to deal with. Whomever was managing the restaurant should have told the fellow to pipe down in order to preserve the peace and dignity of the place, but no. It was love. It was his afternoon, not ours. When I'm shelling out for a meal, I don't want to hang out at someone else's boring Sunday barbecue. That's essentially where we were. I've patronized this place many times in the past, but if it's going to be some sketch dude monitoring his girlfriend's work shift, I can find that at any dive bar in America. This just wasn't this experience, either. The service gets worse and worse each time I go here. The last time was a "bottomless mimosa" experience where the waiter never returned (I did get that comped, however). I didn't feel welcome and you wouldn't have either. Sometimes you get the feeling that things are not long for this world and this has a certain element of a tired restaurant in its final form. read more

Let me begin by saying the food was outstanding! I ordered the beet salad and although thats not much to review, it was the prettiest and tastiest I've ever had. On the other hand, the service sucked! The restaurant was not busy at all yet it took beyond several minutes before anyone approached my table. When someone did finally come over, I asked "are you my server?", and she replied "apparently I am". I ordered the house white wine which I got from the Happy Hour menu. She said "we don't have any house wine". When I pointed it out to her, she said that it's only available during happy hour. Which is fine, I didn't mind paying more because it wasn't Happy Hour. So without asking me, she brought a Le Crema Chardonnay and charged me $10.50, which is fine if the service justifies the price. What I don't like is being ignored and then being overcharged for what I'm getting. I'm sure she provided better service during other times like when she wasn't taking pictures of frothy coffee drinks so she could post them on Instagram. Still not sure why I had 3 different people coming to my table because not one of them saw my empty glass and asked if I'd like another. I was a big fan of Flatbread and was sad to hear they were closed. But the new restaurant apparently is owned by the same people. Checked it out with a friend for Sunday brunch. I love that you can make reservations here on Yelp. I would recommend doing that for brunch. At 11am it was busy! Parking is a pain too. There are at least three restaurants at that intersection that do breakfast or brunch on Sundays, along with several churches on the block. Be prepared to walk a bit. The brunch menu looked good, but we ordered off the lunch menu. With the exception of the bottomless mimosa. For starters, we got the crispy brussel sprouts. Amazing!! They had bacon and whole grain mustard, were roasted perfectly. Almost like chips. I will go back just for those. For lunch I went with the grownup grilled cheese and tomato soup, my friend ordered the fish and chips. My sandwich was made with pimento cheese, tomato slices and bacon. Really good and a little spicy. The tomato soup was good with a bit of spice. The fish on my friends dish were two large pieces of cod. They, along with the fries looked good, and it was a big plate of food. Service was pretty good. Since I made a reservation we had no wait and they had our table ready a few minutes early. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure to let me know my grilled cheese and soup both had a bit of spice. Fine by me, but she said she likes to make people aware. We did have to ask for refill on our drinks twice. And once the bill was paid no one checked on us again even though we sat and chatted for a bit. So much for "bottomless" mimosas. Also, our lunches came out less than a minute after our appetizers. We made it clear we wanted them first even though we ordered all at the same time. It was busy so the kitchen just seemed to be cranking out the food. I guess I'd rather have it all at the same time and hot than separately and our lunches be cold. I'm already planning on going back, both with my friend and my hubby. There are a lot of things on the menu that look delicious. Looks like they have a good happy hour selection too. My Husband & I wanted to give this place a try after driving by so many times and seeing how busy it always looked. We came in a few weeks ago and it was a 45 minute wait, so we decided to make reservations to come back a different weekend and bring our Family to join. As soon as we walked in we were instantly greet by a young lady and quickly sat us at a high table near the bar. I asked if it were possible for our family to sit at a lower table and we were quickly accommodated even though they were busy, Thank you! We were greeted by Ivana and she would be taking care of us for our time here. Looking over the menu was hard as everything looked great. We ordered a flight of marys- definitely very eye pleasing, fun & Tasty that we had ordered 2 of our favorites from the flight called The Maria. I'm not a tequila drinker, but this was by far THE BEST bloody Mary I've ever had. My mother in law had ordered a drink called, Church on time at the same time we had ordered our Bloody Marys but unfortunately only 2 of the drinks came out first and about 10-15 minutes later after trying to get Ivana's attention was I able to let her know about the other missing drink we had ordered. However, the drinks were phenomenal and worth the wait. Church on time was so pretty, you didn't even want to drink it. It's garnished with a pretty little flower. We ordered our food and two of us had ordered Stuffed french toast with strawberries and unfortunately Ivana came back to let us know that there were no more, we were bummed as this is what we were looking forward to trying the most! Ivana did come back with some great recommendations and we decided. Our food came out quick, hot and delicious with just a slight minor error which was quickly fixed by bringing a side of Nashville hot. Everything was great, the food, the drinks and atmosphere. I recommend trying this great spot. I would only recommend getting a paper check and dropping it off at the table, rather than taking payment at the table and making it uncomfortable for a family that normally fights over the check. I also noticed after paying and grabbing a itemized receipt that we were charged for a cocktail we never ordered or received and noticed that the things Ivana was offering to us was a significant amount of an upcharge. A heads up of the price would be great as we thought it came with the meal. We will be back and can't wait to try the other drinks and food! read more

Menu has a nice variety to it. For starters, we ordered the brisket and chicken nachos. They were really good. We ordered the breaded brisket appetizer as well, which was salty and over breaded. In fact, anything that we ordered that was breaded seemed to be over breaded and salty. The mashed potatoes were a little salty as well. Once I peeled off the breading of the chicken sandwich I ordered, it was delicious. The coleslaw is amazing! The belgian waffle served with the chicken dish was perfection. The portions on all our dishes were generous. The restaurant as a whole has a nice ambience to it with a an uptown vibe. The staff is friendly and helpful. The bar is inviting.
