We get catered by Einstein probably about twice/three times a month at work. Their bagels are good, better once you toast them and don't forget to cream cheese it up! I've tried a few of their bagel sammy, they were all are pretty good, I think its big enough to share with another, I'm always so stuffed finishing the whole thing to myself. Bagels are good. Service is the world's worst with a manager who was extremely rude to me accusing me of cursing at his employee on the phone when I did no such thing. I was actually trying to find out if I ordered online would I be able to get 13 onion bagels. The young woman on the other side of the phone thought I was trying to order on the phone. Although I said I didn't need to do that and just wanted information, she then said that she could take the order. When I got there, the manager came out and chewed me out for using verbal abuse with his employee. (still have no idea what I said that was wrong) and gave me his card to deal with him only. I have been a regular customer of Einstein Bros for a very long time but I have NEVER been harassed and disrespected the way I was today. Amanda and another employee (Kyra M) were extremely rude, would not answer my questions, and ultimately threw away my bagels when I tried to change my order. It's pretty shameless to serve a dish with an inedible ingredient that makes 1/3 of the dish. The first time, I gave it a pass. 2nd time, clearly it's not a mistake. I'm so sad to leave a 2 star review for this place. The cashiers are always friendly, It's right next to my house and I LOVE their food. However, the management is awful and they NEVER get my order right. The only thing I ever order is an open-faced tuna melt. And they get it wrong EVERY time without fail. I'd say I've ordered it 10 times and I visually explain it to the cashier.... "a bagel cut in half with tuna on top and then melted cheddar cheese on top... it comes served in a box because it's open faced and the cheese is melted." I've gotten every variation of this you can imagine but the usual problem is it's not open faced. So every time they mess it up I politely bring the sandwich back to the counter and ask for it to be corrected, and they correct it. Not a huge deal... it's a little more time consuming when I'm in a rush but at least I walk away with the sandwich I wanted. But today will be the last time I ever come here unfortunately. This time when I brought the sandwich back to the counter (it was not open faced, big surprise!) the manager let out a huge sigh of exasperation and then proceeded to shoot excuses at me (it's not on the menu, were busy, etc) while also not actually apologizing. After this he grabbed the sandwich and threw it angrily into the trash can in front of me while yelling at the line staff to "make another one!" So unfortunate that the employees are treated this way. The nice girl on the line staff had my new sandwich out in about 30 seconds (that's a new record!) which was great, but I've posted a picture of the sandwich below.... there is literally enough tuna to cover 1/4 of the bagel... so I guess I'll just eat my bagel with cheddar cheese and 2 bites of tuna. My experience was good....four star. The next person....well they might not know it is 1 star. Courteous service and the server reminded me that I forgot the spreads. Bagels are quite passable (which for someone who is used to NY bagels is a compliment). Muffins were exceptional. Prices standard which is exceptional when quality is high. But...... Next person will have a one star experience... and not even know it. The guy who handed me my bags dropped the coffee cups out of it and one bagel rolled out of the bag. They all landed on the floor. He courteously put the soiled cups and bagel on the counter, then got clean cups and a fresh replacement bagel for me. Problem solved. Except...I glanced back and saw him put the soiled cups back in the dispenser, ready for the next customer. I did not actually see the fate of the wayward bagel. I am giving it two stars because their vanilla coffee is so good... Otherwise they get one star. I have two major issues. The first is they just can't seem to get an order right, there's always something wrong. I always order double toasted, with cream cheese, and sliced tomatoes. And every time it is either not double toasted, the cream cheese is just one big blob on it not spread out, or one thin measly tomato slice that doesn't even cover half a bagel. Yesterday I ordered that for myself as well as a bagel with lox and capers and onions. I did ask to add tomatoes. So the bagel ended up having lox and tomatoes, no capers no onions. Very frustrating when the order is to go and you don't even realize the mistakes until after you've driven away. My second issue is the rewards program. They put rewards on here that you are unable to use. There is a free coffee with the purchase of a food item if you use the app. But the app still charges you for the coffee, it does not allow you to get a free coffee. I tried to use one of my free bagel rewards for my order yesterday and the girl could not figure it out because it was not a plain bagel, it was not an egg sandwich, although she did say I would be able to use it. You cannot call this company to get customer service on the phone. You can write to them, but they never reply. Very very frustrating. read more

Besides the ridiculous long waits I had to endure almost every morning just to get a Bagel with cream cheese, today's order was ridiculous. I stopped by here every morning to get a simple bagel with cream cheese then hit the road. By the time I got to my office in LA, I sat down with my coffee and bagel, where is the cream cheese? The picture I attached says it all, never have I seen anything so cheaply made, blame it on inflation I guess. Half of the bagel was bald and the other half barely had any cream cheese. So I returned the next day with the half eaten bagel in hand, reminded them to be careful in their preparation of these orders. Not once did the cashier apologized for their mistakes. Instead she gave me an attitude and acted like she was giving me a freebies by not charging me for today's order. It never occurred to her that I couldn't have my breakfast yesterday because of their errors and the bagel was already paid for. I see all these 1-2 star reviews but I've never really had problems with the service. I think it's because I go really early in the morning before the crowds start forming. Monday's are the best because you can get 13 bagels for $7. The bagels are usually always nice and crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. They have messed up on my order three times. Once I asked for my breakfast bagel with no cheese and of course there's cheese. No big deal it happens to me all the time. The second mistake was worse in my opinion, I asked for an everything bagel, toasted with butter. What I got was an everything bagel toasted with butter EVERYWHERE. Spread all over the top and bottom of the bagel and the inside. I took a bite and threw it away. Lastly they've given me 12 instead of 13 bagels before. But that's only 3 times in the dozens of times I've been there. I gave them 4 stars instead of 3 because I do really enjoy their bagels. read more

And when I went to the counter and asked for more. They acted irritated. Make sure you ask for extra cream cheese at this location, just to get a Normal amount. And I'm not the type to ask for extra on anything. Except here! Otherwise, the bagels were good. As a business man, you have to question.... Where else do they cut costs? The ingredients?? The experience at this store has been declining for some time. The staff doesn't properly ring in your order and they generally seem miserable. However, last week, I had an experience so poor that I won't go back to this location ever again. I walked up to the counter to place my order. The manager was at the register and gave no greeting, just stared at me. Finally, I asked "are you ready for my order?". I gave my order and while he struggled to find the right buttons for the food, I entered my phone number into the keypad to pull up my rewards, as I usually do. He got angry and said "Don't do that." Apparently, there's some system issue that causes problems. Obviously I wouldn't know that though. Then, after explaining why the system isn't working right, he asked me to swipe my credit card. The keypad obviously wasn't ready yet because it said "Waiting on server", but he told me to swipe anyway. I used ApplePay and not surprisingly, nothing happened. He said it was an issue with my card, though it clearly wasn't. He asked me to try my credit card instead. The keypad still said "Waiting on server", but he told me to swipe my card anyway. Again, obviously, it didn't do anything. He asked me if I had cash and got aggravated that I didn't. Then he said "well, I guess it'll be on the house" in a dismissive manner. I also wasn't the only one in line at the time. There were several people behind me, who weren't acknowledged or even addressed until after they completed my order and I was walking out of the store. Clearly the manager was having a bad day, but this store has been declining over the last few months and even though I got my order for free, I'll never go back to that location again. I gave two stars because I really love Einstein's bagels. It's just a shame that the experience is so different between locations. I recommend the one in Mission Viejo. The food was decent, but I placed a curbside order. I ordered it at 9 for curbside pickup at 9:20. We get there at 9:18 and check in on the app. We wait 15 minutes before going inside and seeing our order sitting on the inside pickup table. I said the order was for curbside and they said "yeah it's there" and pointed at the order on the table. I took it and walked out. At this point the food was completely cold. I checked and the receipt on the bag had "curbside" and my car color and make. There was no excuse. I came here because I wanted to try something new, I usually go to Bruegger's Bagel, but go every day so I needed a change. And...you guys forgot to put one of the main ingredients on my Supernova Bagel. There is no cream cheese! That makes the bagel. Now it's gross. I'm already at work and can't go back to return it. But it should've been made right in the first place anyways. Also your Vanilla Hazelnut Coffee Creamer had regular cream in it. So now my coffee is ehhh too. Plus side is that my cashier was super nice. I don't remember her name but she has glasses. The other girl who could've been ringing up more customers was just chatting away with her co-workers. 2 stars because my bagel is edible and coffee is drinkable, it's just not what I ordered. I'm so frustrated. The point of a lox and cream cheese bagel is that it is an open faced bagel. In all the wisdom of Einstein Bros Bagels they have decided to eliminate the box that the bagel is served in and squish it all together and wrap it like a sandwich. Consequently; it has to be unwrapped, taken apart and reconstructed by hand to eat it. This is impossible while driving, next to impossible while at my desk (think smoked lox covered fingers caked in cream cheese and the clean up). It is a monstrous mess so they can save money on the box. Last order I will make from Einstein Bros Bagels. I called other locations to see if it was a one-off...nope. Bye-bye cheapskates! read more

So, I had decided not to post this review right away because I wanted to wait until after the weekend to see if corporate would repond to my email I sent them on Friday. We'll, disappointingly they did not respond, so here we are. Maybe this will get someone's attention over at Einstein's. Email sent to corporate read: "Decided I was going to treat my hard working crew today with a dozen bagels. Walked from our shop location over to yours and hand picked a dozen bagels and cream cheeses. Handed the clerk a $100 bill (literally the only thing that I had on me, since I walked over and didn't take my wallet)... And I was told I that they could not accept my payment. Frustrating to say the least, not to mention they didn't seem to care much when I told them I had no other payment on me. Compounded by the fact that I walked to your location and had wanted to reward my staff for a hard weeks work... Wouldn't accept my cash payment??? Just plain unacceptable - and what was worst was that no real apology, compromise or solution was presented. I run a small automotive repair shop and I would never let a customer leave unhappy. I would always present a solution (at minimum). We frequent your establishment quite often and this is one of those instances that has now soured my future decisions on whether or not to purchase your product. I hope that this complaint is taken seriously, corrections/training are performed and that cash payments will be accepted in the future. read more
