I do love myself a bagel ... and Einsteins does it fairly well. I will say I much prefer the simple bagel with shmear over any of the fancy breakfast sandwiches they have. Most recently I tried the pretzel bun breakfast sandwich. It was decent, but nothing I can't get at most fast food stops. I also had an everything bagel (toasted) with garlic and herb shmear, which was just fine. I do have to say the service here is a bit slow, but the staff is super friendly so we good. OK, EBB does make some tasty bagels. And I USED to like this particular location. However, this location has now lost my business due to just plain stupidity on their part. I walked in this morning and asked to buy a Grab-N-Go box for my office mates. For those who don't know, the GnG boxes contain a predetermined selection of bagels: plain, whole wheat, blueberry, etc...the basic flavors, not the fancy ones. You get 2 bagels apiece of 6 types for a total of a dozen. I was told that, at that moment, they were out of whole wheat bagels but that more would be available in 30 minutes' time. Unfortunately, I didn't have 30 minutes to wait as I needed to get to work, so I asked the order-taker if they could just substitute some of the other basic types of bagels (which were already included in the box) for the missing whole wheat ones. The young guy taking my order informed me that he had asked his manager if he could do this and was told NO. The bagels for the boxes were "preselected" (his term) and could not be swapped out. However, if I wanted to substitute another bagel type that was not on the "preselected" list, I could do so for an additional charge. So...I couldn't just substitute another plain bagel for the whole wheat one, even though there were plenty of plain bagels to be had. My choices were either wait 30 minutes for whole wheat or pay extra for another type of bagel. Just to make sure the dude understood me, I repeated my request. I wasn't trying to scam an upgraded bagel for the basic price; I was willing to stick to the basic list, just a different flavor. The answer was still NO. WTF???????????? I realized that there was going to be no point arguing with the order-taker. He's just doing his pre-programmed, always-on-auto-pilot job. I've noticed that some people who work for casual dining or fast food places freeze up like deer in a semi's headlights when they are asked to deviate from the stupid script their employer makes them follow. This guy couldn't see that it would just make more sense to swap out the missing bagels and let me go on my friggin' way. He didn't care that he lost a sale..because I realized it was just better to vote with my dollars. So I told him that their policy was seriously messed up and left. For a place called "Einstein Brothers", the management and staff in this store aren't very smart. I went to Western Bagel instead. A few dollars more, but I didn't care. read more

I've only been here once. I got a plain bagel with cream cheese. I don't love bagels, but mines seemed fresh. It was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Used to love coming here, all of the sudden everything changed at this location. The new team members do not even know what is on their own menu. Keep in mind, I've been coming here since I was in high school (I'm 25 now) and I always order my usual. All of the sudden my usual doesn't exist. They don't have the spicy tomato spread, they don't have a potato roll and they don't have pickles. I had to ask for another team member and they corrected the new staff. Please give me my money back. - manager that came over wasn't friendly at all. Made no attempt to say "hello", "good morning", or "just one second and I'll have this corrected." Nothing. That shows poor leadership. You can't expect the staff to have great customer service when your leader lacks it himself. - COFFEE .... I went over to get my Hazelnut coffee. Why else would I be here. They were out. They were out of both regular coffee blends. Omg so I've been ordering from Einstein's catering for my work event. Today we ordered cookies. I'm lactose but I caved. The cookie was worth it. Big chunks of milk chocolate and and crispy cookie. The cookie was huge! It was literally the size of my hand...I'm not exaggerating!! More bang for your buck here! Also helps that the employees are nice and attentive. Rude customer service experience and terrible inefficient way of handling pre-orders. What is the point of pre-ordering if you have to wait through the line with walk in order and the food is already made, make no sense. Should not offer pre-order than so everyone can wait in line since you wait anyway to get your oder regardless if you pre-order, and your food sit cold and stale if you pre-order then wait in long line, better off walking in to order, at least its fresher. I love coming here for their Monday $7 bagel box. 13 bagels for $7 is such a good deal! I would definitely recommend coming early--preferably before 9 am--otherwise they run out of a lot of flavors. My current favorite is the French toast--so yummy and sweet enough that you don't really need to add cream cheese if you don't want to :) The line sometimes gets really long but I've never had to wait too long. All the workers I've encountered so far have been pretty nice, though the register ladies tend to be more pleasant than the ones actually grabbing your bagels. read more

Poor poor customer service ! Double check, triple check your order before you pay. It appears that once you pay for it and receive the wrong order, you are screwed. I don't use Apps to order food as much as some restaurants would like for you to use, so when I asked about a free coffee App offer with a purchase, the cashier quickly pointed out that it needed to be completed through the app. Anyone with proper customer service would of offer to walk you through it, but no her. Once I received my order, I quickly noticed that it was not what I ordered, again I was quickly told, " well that's what you paid for" and walked away. I have been obsessed about Einstein Bros Bagels ever since I saw my TA eating a blueberry donut with thick strawberry smear spread all over it. When he told the class it was from Einstein's, I had to check it out and ... oh my gosh, I took advantage of their free bagel with smear coupon and went crazy trying the flavors. I love their blueberry donut with strawberry smear, but I also love the honey almond smear and I've tried the sundried tomato smear or something. All very delicious! So there was another coupon for a free Thintastic bagel that Einstein now offers with less calories - I thought why not. You order your bagel at one end of the counter and you slide on over to the other side where you pay. I ordered a whole wheat thintastic with honey almond smear and it was so loaded with the smear that I could enjoy the creaminess of that honey almond flavor with every bite. It was that delicious. It's best to eat the bagels right away! There are tables for you to sit and munch your bagels on, as well as goodies such as cookies, doggie bagels, etc. Service was okay. They didn't seem friendly, but they were very straight forward and allowed me to get my bagel as fast as possible. Definitely will be back! The prices are decent for a bagel with smear - around $2 or less. read more

Now I know for next time to just order in the shop. The bagel itself was good- I ordered the cheesy hashbrown. I imagine it would've tasted a lot better warm and not cold. Worst "curbside" service ever. The directions say to park and wait with your hazard lights on. The banner on the door says to call. Nobody answers the phone. After waiting 25 minutes in my car, after the 10-15 minutes the website said it would take to make my order, I notice other people disregarding the line and walking inside and coming out with their order, I decided to go inside. This location gets five stars because of their awesome service. Don't even bother with the Lake location, a bunch of impatient *sses over there! And trust me, it ain't that hard to pick up a bagel, toast it and slap some shmear on it! I used to work at one and it was such a fun job, in part because it's damn easy work. Not to take away from the Foothill's service though - they are always friendly and all smiles, even when I'm dawdling over my bagel choices, as if I didn't already know everything on the menu. Oh, and another thing is that this location will put your deli sandwiches on anything you want. UNLIKE Lake Ave, which insisted my sandwich only goes on a bagel. They have the best best fresh bagels! I come here a couple times a month with my parents for breakfast. It's always consistent and tasty! They also carry Einstein bagels at Costco but it's def not the same as when you buy them from their actual store! The ones at Costco are dense.
