I have been in a long distance relationship for two years. With El Come Taco. Seriously, their breakfast tacos are top tier. I have even convinced my friend, who is not a taco person, and she enjoyed them here. My personal favorite is the potato breakfast tacos but even ordering chorizo, you don't get the overpowering taste so you can't go wrong with potato, chorizo, or ham. Tried out this place yesterday after seeing so many great reviews. I got 3 pastor tacos, they came loaded with cilantro and onions, and side of street corn, more commonly known as (elote) We ordered at the front, and they brought our food to our table. Their menu was filled with a wide variety of options to pick from. Green & red salsas were available on each table, along with Valentina sauce to add to your elote. Tacos were delicious, meat was juicy and flavorful, and prices reasonably as well. The corn was mayo based with cheese which was good, but I've also had better. Sadly not a single tacos that hit the table (we ordered at least 9 different tacos among our group) was worth coming back for. First off, a great taco starts with a great tortilla and these corn tortillas were totally lifeless. Suadero was so dry, pastor and chorizo were bland, lengua was ok. Fish taco looked good but again lacked any depth. Whatever else we ordered must have been equally forgettable. To top it off, the service was uninterested at best. The kind where a stemless champagne flute is wedged in a bowl of crushed ice that has an orchid in it. An unusual combination of delicious cheap street food and shockingly fancy luxury drinks. I'm just a visitor in Texas and I've gone alone here several times now. I was always treated well. If you want an intimate little date or are a single weirdo-writer-artist type like me, this is the kind of bar where you'll feel at home and can rest easy. Also- if you're going to the speakeasy, don't come cheap. Just like the taco window is standard- so is the speakeasy. Like any good speakeasy or bistro, go alone you might be able to get away with a cocktail and a couple tacos for $30 or so, if you're a mediocre tipper... but why do that, when you could enjoy the gamut of what they offer? I can easily eat and drink $50-$70 here (granted I'm an alcoholic with expensive taste...) just bear that in mind. If you're counting your pennies, stick to their delicious tacos and don't bug the speakeasy, and you'll be happy as a bug in a rug. We ordered their a bunch of their pastor, sirloin, and beef tacos and by far my favorite was their pastor taco! Topped with grilled pineapple, it provides a sweet and tasty addition to an already great taco. All the tacos come with complimentary cilantro and onions WOO. We also ordered chips and salsa and I can only describe them in one word. CRUNCHY. I'm a big fan of their 3 salsas, but their chipotle salsa is by far my favorite. These were authentic Mexican tacos. There are not to many places ti get tacos like these. I ordered chicken, brisket, and cow's head on a flour tortilla. The meat in each taco was cooked until tender and the flavor of the meat was very well developed. They really know how to bring out the umami. The menu has many options, choices, and add ons. I paid $10.39 for 3 tacos. I consider this somewhat pricey, but there is an up charge for flour tortillas and salsa is extra, hence the 1 star deduction. read more

I have been to El Come several times now, but simply fail to be impressed. I'm sorry Yelp! community, but I just can't go with a five star review on this one... My husband and I appreciate that tacos come on corn tortillas--and, as they should, are served on two tortillas--which taste okay. Chips fall into the same category, they're okay, too. However, the tacos just never really impressed us as they have for many other Yelpers. All the meat we tried (brisket, sirloin, chicken, pastor, chorizo, steak--street and house versions) is a bit over cooked. The chicken and pastor are spiced well but they're chewy and not tender. The sirloin, in particular, was over cooked and bland. They're cheap individually, but with three-bite tacos, you're ordering maybe 3-5 tacos to equate a meal. Add a side and a margarita, then you're looking at about a $20+ bill per person. That's not bad, but I think there's better options out there for that price. In addition, the salsa that comes with the chips is a bit watery and overall lacking in flavor. Salsas at the salsa bar have more heat and flavor. (We've never tried the guacamole, as it's had mixed reviews and is expensive for a small side...) Elote is better elsewhere, as are the refried beans. Frozen margaritas are okay, but they're pricey. We tried a piece of tres leches cake once and it was not good. Atmosphere here is trendy and eclectic. When busy, there's folks in the restaurant from all walks of life. Service is quick and polite, but not overly friendly. Inside is dark and loud, so you're not coming here for a lengthy and relaxing dinner. With such a casual vibe this is a better spot for quick eat with friends. We're not giving up on El Come completely--there's too many positive reviews to write it off the taco-joint-list forever. However, it's not a top choice for us as it is for many others. read more

I visited El Come taco, and enjoyed the two vegetarian tacos I tried (vegan modifications are available): Jose's taco, which is very simple with avocado and beans, and a nopales (cactus) and pepper taco. All of the sides are vegetarian; I don't know which are vegan. The tacos are pretty sizeable; 2 - 3 should fill you (or two tacos a person and sharing a side or two.) While the vegetarian tacos were good, I think the real draw here is the meat tacos. But here's what I really don't like about El Come Taco: the food menu has NO prices on it, anywhere: not online, not on a printed take out menu, not on the menu board in the restaurant. If you want to know what the tacos and sides cost, you'd have to specifically ask for each one. It's really customer-unfriendly, and it seems incomprehensible to me. The prices aren't outrageous; I think I paid around $12 for 2 tacos and a side of elotes. But why not list the prices? I know it's common (though I find it frustrating!) for restaurants to do this with their drink menus. But I've never seen a casual place that doesn't list its food prices. read more

Overall, if you're in the mood for a good tasting, authentic taco, this is one of the best places in Dallas to try. These were the first Texan tacos we've ever tried and we're definitely satisfied :) We ordered -street corn -chips and salsa -chorizo n brisket mix taco Everything has a slight kick of spice to it, and Ima super wimp when it comes to spicy food so I was constantly sipping my water lol Portion sizes were decent at roughly $4 a taco (you pay for add ons like queso etc) and everything is la Carte so prices add up quickly. If you want a wide variety of your basic, not overly dressed street tacos this is the place. There are so many options to choose from you won't know what to try! I only tried the chicken because I wasn't adventurous that day and chicken is my go to as a starter because who can mess up chicken. The only reason I give this place 3 stars and not 4 is because my chicken was very bland and overcooked. I kept pulling out burnt pieces or other things cooked in that I quickly was over eating my tacos. The service is good and they have some good quality salsa. If you are looking for amazing tacos in Dallas and you haven't tried El Come Taco yet you are missing out!! I have been to this amazing little hole in the wall shop quite a few times now and have yet to be disappointed with anything I have ordered. My recommendation: start with chips and your favorite dip (again, you can't go wrong but the guacamole is AMAZING) and get some street corn as well (best street corn in Dallas IMO). Follow that with some delicious tacos- chicken, pork, and brisket are my go favs- and you have yourself a delicious and filling meal! They also have a nice selection of cold bottled sodas and beers to wash your food down with. Hands down my favorite quick taco stop. Rarely are they crowded or super busy. This is a small place tucked in the middle of a simi-shady strip mall. The parking lot needs some work, lots of bumps and potholes. Inside was a pleasant surprise, very festive and lively (although it wasn't busy at all). Ordered the cow head street taco, because why not and the fish taco. The cow head didnt have any distinct flavor to keep me coming back for another. The fish taco though. Flaky fish battered and fried to perfect crispiness. It was well seasoned. Two quite large pieces come on this taco with crema and a radish garnish. As with any good street taco, there are 2 corn tortillas for every 1 taco. I couldn't close the fish taco, so split the 2 tortillas and made 2 fish tacos. The salsa bar has a small variety of salsas. 2 spicy, 1 smoky, 1 green avacado (maybe another), but I stuck with the green. Ordered a margarita. They line the rim with a spicy red salt, hot. I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars, but alas. I stopped in for some tacos here and left feeling conflicted. The tacos themselves were good, not great. While I definitely enjoyed them, they were not really any better to my taste than virtually any other quality taco joint around town. What they were, though, was more expensive than a lot of the other quality tacos around town. I ended up paying ten dollars for four street tacos, which just seems like a little much. To wit, why does a lengua taco cost 2.50 here when it cost 1.50-1.90 just about everywhere else? As for everything else about the restaurant, it was great. The atmosphere was awesome and everyone on staff was very nice and helpful.
