I was in the mood for some "good tacos" so I looked and Yelp and this was one of the top places to go to, so I thought I'd give it a try. I had honestly never noticed this place while driving on Fitzhugh, it's tucked away in a small shopping center. Parking: It's a cute little shop with some parking, not a ton so on a busy day idk where everyone parks. There are maybe 10ish spots in front of the store, but there are other spots but there's other restaurants and stores as well Service: Good and prompt, no complaints Food: First let's talk about that Elote! They have probably one of the best street forms that I've ever had, it's rich and full of flavor I was pleasantly surprised. Now the tacos...plenty of option from the traditional barbacoa, pollo, etc. But they also have "fancier" options. I feel that the tacos are on the pricier side in my opinion due to fact they aren't the best that I've ever had but they are still very good. Alright, to give y'all a perspective of how good this place is, I went twice in 24 hours. Not because I just happened to crave it again, but because the first meal left such an impression that after finishing it I knew I was going to have it again the following day. I got the torta del chavo and a variety of tacos along with the nopales. Hands down the best tacos I've ever had in my life, without a doubt in my mind. The short answer is: if you order a taco here you're going to be happy, so whatever you're thinking of ordering is a great choice. My second meal there I was skeptical they could wow me to the same extent with the torta del chavo, but it blew my mind once again. The sandwich contains avocado, which added a wonderful texture with each bite and it was packed full of complimentary flavors. The reviews are what got us to try this hidden gem, it's the food that will make us regulars. We both had chicken tacos, I added a couple of fajita steak tacos. Simply superb. The chips, guacamole and salsa were delicious. The hot sauces they put on the table were all so very good. My favorite was the smokey hot sauce. We took home tres leches and the churros. Churros were good, the tres leches was perfectly made. It's a family run business that takes customer service seriously, the young lady took us on a little tour of the Speak Easy and patio. Attended the special happy hour with Ojo de Tigre, hosted by El Come Taco this past Monday and it did not disappoint! Each taco was $2. Ordered the brisket, chorizo, and al pastor. All tacos were flavorful and portion sizes were good! Great spot for authentic tacos. read more

Super fresh tacos. I ordered the beef, chicken, and skirt steak taco and was not disappointed. The skirt steak one was my favorite. The meat was perfectly cooked, juicy and well-seasoned. We've heard about this place from Dallas Observer Best of 2015 and it didn't disappoint. This place is more trendier than what you think of a taqueria is. They said taquerias who only accepts cash are the best: yes it is but this place is the exception. Located across the street from a check cashing place, it's very easy to find. We ordered 5 beef, pastor, lengua, tripa, and beef with chorizo plus 2 Mexican cokes. Everything tastes great, simple but great. My favorite is the lengua. It's actually the first time I've had lengua that is not dry. This one is juicy and you can taste the beef flavor. That's how I like it. My next favorite is the tripa. It was crunchy yet tender and flavorful. Great tasting tacos, cheap and fast what is there not to love? This would be a solid one in our tacos rotation. read more

The Scene: Feels like a good truck opened a take out place, totally chill. Order at the counter and take a seat...and it's busy! It's a little dark and there was quite a bit of food on the floor from previous diners, which is a little gross. The Food: Get the guacamole, it was great! also the street tacos are where it's at, small but filling. There's a salsa/hot sauce bar, just put a little in and the food is even better. Great tacos at El Come Taco! I ordered the marinated chicken, marinated pork and sirloin tacos. All three were excellent. The meat is well seasoned and the flavors are dynamic. It's in a 'not so nice' plaza in the Knox Henderson area, but everybody knows about it. I heard about it because of the crickets... they don't serve it anymore I don't think. It was a weeknight and it took a bit to get the food... got 3 tacos for ~$10, so what you would usually expect. Got the Barbacoa, lengua, and the veal brain. Haven't seen the veal brain before!! Think the veal brain was the most expensive one. Standard street tacos. I will say the veal brain texture will turn most people off. It did for me, but it wans't terrible. Very mushy... it didn't have a ton of flavor for me either. The other tacos were good. Definitely come for your taco place as you hit up all the Dallas taco places. read more

5 stars for there fish tacos and mango margarita!! I love fish tacos and can't seem to find a place that serves them with real fish.. Most places usually fry fish sticks and put them in a tortilla "no bueno". Not this place though I ordered the grilled fish tacos with all the fixings on it. The fish had a nice grilled flavor, all the toppings did this taco justice as well. The salsa wasn't needed but it did give it some spice. I washed it down with the mango margarita, what more could I ask for. Definitely great for lunch, and after work with a few co-workers. Came to Dallas for a business trip form San Diego and wanted some decent tacos. This place is legit. Got Lengua, Cabeza, Sesos, And chapulines street tacos and a side of guac and chips. All were cooked perfectly tender and great simple flavors. Guac was pricey but it was fresh and simple. Seriously. They just keep the flavors simple and authentic. I had the carne asada tacos - 12 actually, enough to feed my family of four. They were delish! My hubby likes the green salsa that came with them, I'm sure the red was also tasty. I took away one star for the elote. Maybe I'm an elote snob but canned corn has no place in elote. Especially if it isn't...charred? Blackened? Simply order is the pollo / chicken and pair it with several of their sauces. Their sauces IMHO seriously rock. They usually bring out just the normal front two sauces. The green tomatillo is one of my top ones, what a great heat and flavor. The second sauce that they bring out is wonderful as a change up. The third sauce is in a shorter squeeze bottle that has a wonderful smokey flavor that is hardly ever taken out to the tables, unless asked for, but so fun to try! The fourth sauce that I am wild about is the sauce that is severed with the "chips & salsa" and over a chicken taco, just fantastic! Of all of the sauces, just go with the green over the chicken tacos, diced onion, cilantro, and squeezed lime over-the-top! Best tacos in the area. They have excellent Tripa (ask for extra crispy) and my favorite is the Campechano (Chorizo and Brisket). Guacamole is perfectly mixed and tangy, the aguas are fresh and the atmosphere is cozy. Save room for their Tres Leche cake, it's the best in Dallas! If you happen to come by for breakfast you have to try their breakfast Torta and a cup of coffee. They offer the best ingredients and their wait time never falters. Tasty authentic Mexican tacos! Stopped by here for a late lunch with some friends on a Saturday. It is definitely tucked away and I wouldn't have found it if my friend didn't see it on Yelp. The place is somewhat modern, nothing too fancy but it isn't old or anything. It seemed like it was a family owned place with parents in the back and the kids running the front. The service was great, they even came up to explain the different salsas to us. Overall, I liked the restaurant. Nothing super special, although I only had the classic tacos, but they do their tacos well. Hey are $1.50 plus tax for the basic ones and go up to around $3 for specialty tacos. One thing I would say is that because these are traditional tacos on corn tortillas they might be smaller than expected if you've never had them before. I had 6 and wasn't super satisfied, but it was a late lunch and I kind of eat a lot lol. Around four or so would probably be sufficient for an average person. I apologize that all my taco reviews start the same way, but if it ain't broke.... I am an avid taco fan. When it comes to tacos, I think there are two camps. 1. fancier tacos, with interesting toppings and mixtures 2. smaller, plain tacos, more classic w/ the traditional flavors like lengua, pastor etc This is in between. The sizes here are small and the fillings are simple (like pastor, brisket, barbacoa), but they also have unusual flavors like head cheese , fancier fish tacos options and sirloin. All of them are very good, and everything is better doused in sauce and sprinkled with lime and onions. The sides are good too, though the elote is a little too rich for my taste. The decor here is also super cute, with folksy Mexican art on the walls . And though this place is super casual, it has a great variety of liqueurs including some pretty good quality tequilas and mezcal. Fun spot for authentic tacos with a fancy twist. read more

This is one of the best places I've ever been for street tacos in Dallas! Walking in it's not much to look at but once you get those tacos in front of you, you will understand. I ordered a taco de lengua, pastor, sirloin and I decided to go really authentic and try a cricket taco! That's right! CRICKETS! FRIED CRISPY CRICKETS! It took some nerve and dancing around my table until I finally let go of my fears and took a big crunchy bite. Although not my favorite taco I may have it again. The crispy crickets were paired with a guacamole mash, onions and cilantro. The mash was smooth and paired well with the crickets. As for the other three tacos, they were amazing!
