If you are celebrating, I definitely recommend this place. When I did the reservation online, I left a note that we're celebrating and I wanted a non alcoholic drink option. Upon our arrival, the hosts were great and we just needed to wait for couple minutes then they took us to our table. The table was so special, real petal roses and a birthday card from El Gaucho Team. Then we sat and got our menu. To my surprise, they even had printed our celebration on the menu, how nice is that. We ordered: - it was a bit tart and refreshing. For a mocktail or how they call it here zero-proof cocktail, this was pretty close to an actual cocktail taste. - squid ink dumplings: the dumplings were on the al dente side which is not my preference but it was good. The pork flavor just burst into mouth with a hint of shrimp. It was a good balance - tuna tartar: this was good but as someone who travel to Hawaii pretty often, the tuna did not hit as fresh but the ingredients that came with it (olive, pineapple...) saved it. - Steak El Gaucho: delightful. It was my favorite of all we ordered. The béarnaise (sauce that came with it) was just the perfect sauce for the dish. The meat was tender and it was just like butter in the mouth (as our server said) - Ribeye: if you like some fat in your steak then this is the one. Another impromptu walk to El Gaucho, yet this one on New Year's Eve, led to a great meal at the bar. Our reservation at another place was handled poorly, and when we showed up, they were in chaos because several employees called in sick. We moved on, and took a chance at El Gaucho. I'm vegan and they don't have any dinner items that are vegan but the two times I've been here I've let them know and the chef will throw something together for me. First time was a cauliflower steak and last night was a delicious stuffed pepper with their mushroom risotto. It was so good!! And very filling. Your water glass will ALWAYS be filled. everyone is extremely polite and accommodating. My server was fantastic, engaging in personalized conversation, and everyone on the service staff was attentive to anticipating any dining necessity. The lack of culinary effort is appalling, considering the amount of money being asked for a mediocre steak and seafood. My filet, arrived over cooked, dry, and cool. There wasn't a single drop of juice on my plate after cutting it. 18oz lobster tail for $125 was a joke. It was maybe 12-14oz prior to being cooked. 5 Stars - Incredible First Experience at El Gaucho! My husband and I came to El Gaucho for the first time to celebrate his birthday, and we were absolutely blown away! From the start, the staff made the night incredibly special. They surprised my husband with a custom menu that had "Happy Birthday Jamal" printed right at the top, along with a personal birthday message from the restaurant--such a thoughtful touch! Without us even asking, they gave us a tour of the restaurant, which made us feel truly welcomed and valued. The atmosphere was elegant and cozy, and the service was top-notch. Now for the food--wow. I ordered the bone-in ribeye and it was hands-down one of the best steaks I've ever had. My husband got the New York steak, which he liked, but he definitely had food envy after tasting mine! We also tried the Tenderloin Diablo and it was to die for--spicy, tender, and packed with flavor. We shared the mac & cheddar cheese and asparagus as sides, and both were fantastic. I absolutely LOVE going to El Gaucho. It is my favorite restaurant, hands down. My husband and I normally go to the Tacoma location, but decided to head up to Seattle to celebrate our birthdays. It was the best experience. The staff spoiled us and made sure our dinner was memorable. It started with our seating. There is an upper platform type area that wraps around the main floor. You can see the entire restaurant from our view, including a peek at the kitchen. Our server, Moc (or Mok?) was witty, genuine, and added to our experience. At one point he actually walked us over to the kitchen, and introduced us to Sam, one of the head chefs. Sam was manning the grill and explained how their charcoal grill system works (you have to see it to understand). Our food was amazing as always. The lobster was perfectly cooked, as was my husbands filet mignon. We got roasted sweet corn as a side. Pro tip: ask for a half portion. The full size is huge and you'll never eat it all a half portion is perfect for two people. My cocktail drink was prepared tableside by the bar manager Simone. She talked us through it as it has a flavor bubble on it that was so cool to see. She also was the one who made our dessert. Speaking of dessert... I will never tire of cherries jubilee, that is also made tableside. It's so fun to watch it come together. I actually like Seattle's version better than the one in Tacoma. They add sugar to their sauce, which makes it thicker and richer. We also were given a slice of key lime pie to share, or other fave desert, because the house was spoiling us. My final shout out goes to the manager/executive chef Kirin. How he does both roles, I don't know. But he did that AND took time to frequently check in with us. Turns out that he's from our neighborhood and used to work at another restaurant that was a fave of ours years ago. Small world. He really ensured that we had the best time from start to finish. Went to El gaucho while visiting Seattle and OMG 5 stars aren't enough. Upon entering you see a fire pit and a beautiful bar and very luxury decor. They don't have a dress code but is a place jf you want to wear your Sundays best you can. Our server Jimi was on top of things. Never let our water glasses get low and he was very informative of the menu from starters to dessert. My old fashion he recommended was smoked and was exactly how an old fashion should tastes. He had wonderful energy and was pleasant to talk to. Also the manager Mauch was amazing as well. He kept us laughing and entertain upon his visits to our table as we were one of the last groups to leave. They start you with a garlic/cheese type of bread that was toasted and freaking phenomenal. We ordered crab cakes, fried calamari and lamp chop lollipops to start. The crab cakes were flavorful and the batter was perfectly cooked. Calamari was well seasoned and came with a sauce I would dip anything in. My favorite was the lamb as it was cooked perfectly with a great char on the outside. For the main course we all had steaks that were cooked and season to perfection. My first bite tasted like butter. Just melted in mouth. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and mash potatoes as sides. Brussels sprouts were charred but flavorful and the mash potatoes were whipped perfectly. For dessert I had the key lime pie and that crust and filling and me wanting more and more. Came in with a buddy, who is going to be pet sitting my cat while I'm out of town. He'd never been to The Gaucho, so I thought this would be a good way to show my appreciation. He didn't know what to expect, and was blown away. We arrived a little ahead of the reservation, so we hopped up to the bar and ordered drinks. As soon as the drinks were ready, our table became available, so the hostess put our drinks on her tray, then led us to our table. The table was in the back, and elevated, so we both had an amazing view of the restaurant. I had called ahead and asked if they could put a personalized message on the menus, which they did, and even added a little black cat as well. This was such a cool personal touch. For drinks, my friend ordered the Kentucky Jam Band, and I ordered a Moscow Mule. My friend really enjoyed his cocktails, and I can honestly say that I've never had a better Mule in my life. While we looked at the appetizers, the garlic bread arrived, which was delicious as always. My buddy ordered the Poke, which was very fresh and flavorful. He's a big sushi fan, and was definitely impressed. I was planning on ordering the scallop appetizer, but noticed that the preparation had changed. I asked our waiter, Doug, and he confirmed it was a new appetizer, but that I could still order the old one. Again, the appetizer was fantastic. They get these firm char-marks on the scallop, which not only adds an amazing flavor, but also an awesome crispy texture, to the otherwise soft scallop. My buddy ordered the roasted half chicken as his entrée. The chicken was perfectly cooked, with a nice crispy skin, on a bed of roasted corn and mushrooms. I ordered a rare sirloin (my favorite), "Gaucho Style", so it came with a lobster medallion, asparagus, and bernaise sauce. We additionally ordered mashed potatoes and roasted summer vegetables as sides. I've never had the famous Joel Robuchon mashed potatoes before, but if you told me that the Gaucho mashed potatoes were prepared in the same way, I would totally believe you. They were soft, creamy, and luxurious. The roasted summer vegetables were great (Squash, bok choy, tomatoes, kale, marcona almonds). They were perfectly cooked, al-dente. The plum tomatoes were scorched, but not falling apart, and the marcona almonds rounded out the flavor and texture profiles. Both of these appetizers are must-order items. Doug, our waiter, was excellent. He was attentive, without being annoying. He knew exactly when to check on us, and greatly contributed to our experience. Additionally, Larry Sonnenberg, the front of house manager, stopped by to introduce himself and make sure our experience was as expected, if not better. This was especially impressive since the restaurant was packed (Saturday night), and he was busy lighting skewers of meat of fire, and otherwise interacting with the tables. Neither my buddy nor I were able to find room for dessert, but we did make short work of the after-dinner fruit/cheese plate. The El Gaucho rosemary crackers are amazing, as is the fig jam. Before checking out, Doug asked if we had valet parked, and checked our ticket. When we exited the restaurant, my car was already there and waiting. Great service! Also, I was happy to see the complimentary bag of chocolate chip cookies, from the valet, waiting in my car. Needless to say, this was a superlative dining experience. If you've never been to El Gaucho, I cannot recommend it enough. They are there to take care of every little detail you require, and to make you feel as if you're in the center of their world while you are there. The food was fantastic- I ordered the flaming sword tenderloin which added a show at the table but also tasted very good. For dessert I had the bread pudding which was delicious. Let's get into the appetizers. Do yourself a favor, ORDER THE PORK BELLY!!! This item wasn't on the menu so I'm lucky I was told about it because this pork belly was OUT of this world! It was easily one of the best pork belly appetizers I've ever had. It's up there with my favorite pork belly which is from Steak 48 in Houston Texas. GET THE PORK BELLY, DON'T TEST ME!!! I was also able to try the wicked shrimp which was delicious. I'm not a huge fan of spicy food but this was the perfect amount of spicy, very flavorful. Do yourself a favor by dipping the house bread in the sauce soooooo good. Ok here is where I tell you what to get for your entree. GET THE FLAMING SWORD TENDERLOIN!!! Now I know what you're thinking, "You're just saying that because they set it on fire" and YEZZZZZZZZZ that's EXACTLY why. You already know everything you order is going to be amazing anyway so why not have it set ablaze in front of everyone? It's so cool, the gentleman showed up with a long sword of tenderloin and then WOOOOOOOSSSHHHHH flames! It was lit......... Ok moving on . Also tried the lamb shank from the specials menu because our waitress sold us on how good it was BUTTTTT I shouldn't have ordered it. Don't get me wrong, it was VERY good but it didn't wow me like the tenderloin did. I would give it a solid 8 out of 10, very high rating but I can get a nice Lamb Shank anywhere so next time I'll try something else. We only ordered 1 side which was the Au gratin potatoes and that was EASILY a 10 out of 10. The perfect amount of cheese, which was A LOT just like I like it. Throw that damn cheese on there, MORE PLEASE!!! Ohhhh and lastly I was able to try their blood orange old fashioned which is apparently their award winner & I can see why. a wonderful spot in belltown! as far as i can tell, it is on the fancier, higher end side, but my friends and i came quite casually for happy hour and it was fine! the ambiance is super moody/dimly lit, which is fun for maybe a little romantic dinner date or gorls night out even. i went to happy hour so im not sure what the other menu items are like. i got to try the elixir and strawberry cocktail, both were sweet and easy to drink. we also ordered the fries with truffle aioli, and the aioli was fantastic, the truffle really came through and the fries were nicely fried. we also tried the poutine, which had a wonderful gravy/sauce full of big portions of meat. my friend and i shared the steak sandwich. the steak was tender and so flavorful and it paired really well with the slab of mushroom. i think one of my favorite parts was the live pianist! he plays every fri sat and sunday, AND he takes requests (and loves it!). we had such a fun time asking for random songs. the food was good, but i would come back just to listen to him play piano. read more

First time here and wow! We started off with some garlic bread that was delicious. That was following by an appetizer that has spicy shrimp, can't remember the name but that was so good. Worth the heartburn. We got a filet and ribeye along with Mac and cheese and the scalloped potatoes. The food was exceptional. When you arrive and if your table isn't ready, you can go sit at the bar. If they get you before your drink is made, the bartender will take the drink to you. I had a Seattle sunrise (sunset?) and it was good. Unbeknownst to me, I got engaged that morning so our server was kind enough to give us complimentary champagne to toast. I also asked him (I believe his name was Oakley?) where the bathroom was and he was such a gentleman and escorted me to the bathroom. Even extended his arm so he could walk me there. He was so wonderful and even took a photo of us. He gave great food recommendations. There is a tip already included in your total, I believe it's 20%. They tell you right before you order, it's on the menu, and you're reminded again when your check is handed to you. Our server was so nice and wonderful, we decided to tip him more on top of the 20%. When he saw it, he reminded us that the tip was already included and we said we were fine with that because his service was amazing and deserved it. So we walk out and I'm going to assume this was someone who was above our server, but he showed us our receipt and asked if we meant to do that because the tip was already included. It felt like we were being interrogated in front of the restaurant lol. The service and everything was great but that last interaction was odd to me.
