Food is decent enough. Though admittedly i only ever come here when I get a coupon in the mail or on the app. Why 2 stars? The staff appears to have no personality when interacting with customers. But the MAIN reason is because every single time I come here the place is just dirty. The salsa bar is nearly empty and what's left out seems old. I am from California. This was one of my favorite places to eat at. When I heard they opened in San Antonio, I was there as often as I could. Now that they are open right down the street from me I go at least once a week. Their marinated flame broiled chicken is like no other. I recommend getting the eight piece mix chicken with the 2 sides (rice and beans for the Mexican in me) & corn tortillas make sure you ask for all the salsa you can get it it's delicious. (Family meal but i share some and take some to work next day) do not forget to get churros I think they're two for like a dollar they are great you will be hooked!!! The only other thing I would recommend is the pollo bowl... Anything other than that is going outside of the box... The citrus marinated flame broiled chicken is what they're known for... I drive by this location several times a week. I was excited to see a California favorite coming into Dallas. Their charbroiled marinated chicken is unique and reasonably priced. My only criticism is that their chickens are so dang skinny! Otherwise the food is good, healthy choices and very reasonable. I look forward to more Pollo Loco meals in the future. read more

I drive 15 min to get this food. The service is top notch as well as the food. Admittedly, I keep it very straightforward with Chicken, tortillas and some sides (including the delicious homemade soup), but i simply can't understand the negative reviews. This is high quality food that, to me, is better than most gourmet Mexican restaurants I've been to. I have been eating at El Pollo Loco off and on for 30 years, and for the first 15 years it was good; though times have changed. El Pollo Loco has grown too large for its britches.. One major problem is that they are, teaching people with no prior knowledge of cooking Mexican Cuisine, how to cook it; and let's just say the lessons aren't equating to a satisfactory outcome. El Pollo Loco is all about grilling chicken to perfection; and this isn't KFC, so good grilled chopped chicken should not be extraordinarily tender. Man we got here put our order in the cashier was very nice. We were told that we had to wait for more chicken and man was it worth the wait chicken hot, fresh and juicy. Stopped here on the way to grandson's BB game as we were short on time so chose this place. Service nice and friendly. I got the grilled chicken avocado broccoli bowl. Hubs got the chicken nachos and they were good. Grandson got a chicken with rice bowl and rice was moist and tasty. I didn't like the salsa but the avocado sauce was good. I've eaten here about ten times since they opened. The bowls are great and the queso is delicious. It reminds me a little of Chipotle. Good quality food and you don't feel guilty afterward. The people were fast, friendly, and efficient. Decorations are nice with a contemporary food twist. The restaurant is well lit. The chicken? Very flavorful and yummy. The skin crispy with the fat burned off. Horchata, delightful! We got the half chicken which comes with 2 small sides and a small drink. We got two beans, broccoli, and side salad. This is my go to fast food Mexican Restaurant when leave from teaching school all day, tired and do not feel like cooking. I frequent here so much that a lot of the workers know me. The manager and staff at this location are extremely friendly and their food is always good. One of the drive thru workers introduced the app that allows me to get points with my receipt and the manager also gives me coupons for my next visit when they are available. I'm so glad this location is near my house because its a hop skip and a jump away. Kudos to the great customer service and the people who work at this location, highly recommended! read more

OMG, l waited in the drive thru for 20 minutes before reaching the order window. Once l was able to order 2 BRC'S with chicken they had no cheese! At All! Then l waited another 10 minutes just to get to pay. But when she read me "my order" it was someone else's. Then she tried to charge me over $2 more because apparently the person taking the order didn't charge enough. I've l arrived home the was NO CHICKEN! WHAT THE H***? So my rating is a zero, but it won't last me leave a zero. Never again will l patronize this location. Poor Service, poor managing, and someone needs to get a handle on the meeting! read more

I was waiting impatiently for this restaurant to open and was completely disappointed. We bought food to go the day they opened. The chicken was salty and had clumps of black pepper. That's really all the seasoning you could taste. Back home in AZ, Pollo Loco was my favorite place to eat and I was expecting the same food taste but it was nothing like I what I had back in AZ. I try to eat healthy, and it's a struggle to find a semblance of anything healthy to eat at a fast-food drive-thru; however, I recently found El Pollo Loco, which opened near my residence on Abrams and Forest. It's more of a fast-casual atmosphere with a drive-thru. The menu selection is fantastic. In fact, I have a really hard time choosing because I want it all. The drive-thru is amazingly fast and walk-ins are given a guest-pager. There's a fresh condiments bar and even a choice of Horchata at the drink bar. If you love avocados, they do not scrimp. My daughter received coupons in the mail for this place so why not give them a try! We entered and had no idea what to order the menu had everything from chicken to burritos which I thought was great because I like variety. I ordered the chicken tostada salad. It take a few minutes to receive your food because it's not made until you order it. Received my food and I must say it was one of the best salads I've ever eaten. The chicken was grilled and seasoned to perfection, all the salad fixings were great. My only complaint is the salad dressing selection and salsa bar.
