I wouldnt really call this place fast food, because it takes longer then most taquerias. You can see them slowly grilling the pollo(chicken :-p ), and its all made fresh to order. Salsas are freshly made and the place is clean. The last 2 times i came by someone was always cleaning up. First time took about 10 minutes, last time took 20 mins!! :( I cant knock em cause some dude ordered 80 bucks of food in front of me (really? ) But the 4 piece combo is pretty yummy and the side orders are super fresh and hot. Disappointed by how many times they can make a mistake on Guacamole burrito with No chicken! The number is twice! The service is terrible the food is sub standard. Have someone who can speak English at the delivery window clearly. Their system at the delivery window is stupid no one knows when their food is ready while seated! Great chicken. The chicken marinade is delicious and I cannot wait to find a copy cat recipe online. Another favorite are the churros, which have improved from just a year ago. Same recipe, but they are served hot and soft now. In the past, I'd have to ask if they were soft because sometimes they'd be stale from sitting out. The only downside are the sides, which account for half of the meal. They aren't very flavorful and are a real reminder that this is a fast food restaurant. Plus, we have a vegetarian in our house so if we order a meal that means our vegetarian has to eat a subpar dinner. Or, find food elsewhere. Customer service is average, and some times are better than others. Minimal pleasantry and make sure you ask for anything you need to enjoy your meal...utensils, more than one napkin. They always get my order correct, which is how it should be with all fast food, but it's not always the case elsewhere. read more

Just to follow up for some reason I was contacted by the Watsonville El Pollo manager and after he realized it was not his location no further contact from corporate El Pollo Loco. The only thing I would have liked is acknowledgment that a customer is important to a business and if a mistake is made to make sure staff should have a manager interact when there are issues. Avoid this place if you can . They gave me the worse chicken I've ever had in US. The meat had no chicken flavor at all and it's so mushy. I felt I was eating a pile of paper.... Probably is because the meat was really not fresh and they overcook it and try to kill the bacteria. The meat is seriously not a healthy fresh meat, DO NOT come to this place if you want to suffer. I am not happy with the service I received tonight. I placed my order in the drive-thru; the bag was handed to me dripping scorching hot with liquid leaking from some food container; it dripped on my leg, staining my pants and burning my leg, it dripped all inside my car and made a hot mess, literally! I ordered a small loco salad and asked for no fresh cilantro; they took it upon themselves to not put cilantro dressing, and when I asked for the missing the dressing the employee gave us a lot of attitude, and referred to the extra dressings i paid extra for-this is not correct! Based on this experience i would not return to this El Pollo Loco or tell my family and friends to visit; unfortunately, the service is usually this bad here, yet we still return because the next location is not nearby and can't really complain about the food, just the bad service. This is the worst el pollo I've been to. The staff literally ignore you while you're waiting for your order. If you place a pickup order, good luck. You will be ignored and the wait time on the app will say "4-9 min" but it will take forever because no one cares here. I tried again today with a curbside order, let them know we were here and waited 30 minutes. Literally had to call inside the restaurant to request for them to bring out our curbside order, and the response was, " you weren't in the curbside parking spot." Well none were available and a staff member literally ignored my husband as he was trying to get her attention. They finally brought the food out and we realized when we were home that we were missing multiple items. Will never go here again. The El pollo locations in Concord and Pittsburg are awesome and I love their food. Literally day and night compared to this garbage place. Don't go here. It's not worth it. read more

I have frequented this El Pollo Loco a few times, usually I would get a grilled chicken burrito.. I love their spicy salsa and the fact that they offer chopped onions & fresh cilantro most fast food places don't.. I hadn't been in a while and was craving some tacos so I decided to stop by when I went in I noticed they switched things up a bit and seem to have added more health conscious options to the menu as well as some value meal package type options.. I was actually craving crunchy chicken tacos, but I notice they had a chicken avocado burrito bowl I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did! It comes with chicken, pinto beans,sour cream, avocado & pico de gallo. When I got my order I was a bit apprehensive bc I didn't know it came with pinto beans, but topped it with spicy salsa, cilantro and onions and it tasted great! It was so good I went back the next day and got a bowl AGAIN that time with black beans and it was even better! They second time I went I was offered tortillas w my meal which I wasn't given the first time.. Its time to give up the fantasy. We've gotten take out from here several times over the last year or so. I wanted to believe that it was relatively decent, inexpensive, heatlhy-ish food. I wanted to believe it so badly that we repeated our errors again and again. Well, we're done. The "salad" we ordered last night had that putrid, watery, half rotten smell-taste - like gas station or vending machine food. The corn in it was just ... disgusting. I have to say that it took me a while to try El Pollo Loco but once I did I see what the rave is about. There food is good and taste fresh. Today I went through the drive-thru and ordered a double chicken quesadilla. When I got home, and bit into it. It tasted like the saltiest most burnt thing I ever tasted. When I opened it, all of the chicken was burnt and super salty. El Pollo Loco is a healthier alternative to any fried chicken joint. Unfortunately, they're pretty rare in this area, and they're almost always gross. The food isn't gross, but the facility is. Uncleaned tables, dirty floors, sticky bathrooms, flies circling the salsa bar that looks like a tsunami hit it, etc. This restaurant in particular tends to have really long drive-thru times, is always running out of chicken breasts, and has botched my order on multiple occasions. If things were better overall I'd eat here every night, but as is I make the trip here less and less these days. read more

So to be honest, I never really like Pollo Loco, for what reason, well maybe because I was ordering the wrong thing off the menu for the longest time. Until I was in the training program and omg what they ordered was super good. After that I decided to give it a second chance and I was not disappointed! The burritos are super good and they are good size but by far the Tacos Al Carbon are the best "fast food tacos" I have had in my life, plus they are at a very good price. So you really can't go wrong with FAST AND CHEAP food! As far as the staff here, well they are really nice and they review your order twice, before you pay and when you pick it up from the counter (whether it is to go or for here), which most fast food places don't. Lastly, the restaurant itself is well maintained and very clean. Soda fountain is also clean which beats most sticky floors in some other places. The salad bar is pretty much GOOD as being clean but excellent as far as having food items filled and not half empty or empty all the way. Yup. 5 stars all the way! :) read more

Me and my family came through the drive thru ordered one 16 piece and one 10 piece family size with a couple of sides. When My sister-in-law asked the drive thru guy (Juan) for salsa at least a good size container because in my family there are 15 people total so we need a lot of salsa with our meal. He hesitated to give us a cup . after he gave us the first cup we asked for another one then he said he was not allowed to give us another. If it is an open salsa bar and you can get as many as you want I don't understand why if we ordered such a big order it was an issue to give us paying customers what we need to enjoy our meal. If this certain location closes at 11 and by 9pm two hours before close they run out of chicken and wings wouldn't it make more sense to have enough until closing. You can't go wrong with roast chicken! One thing in common amongst international cuisines is roasted chicken. No matter which way you slice it around the world, it's usually delicious. El Pollo Loco serves Mexican style roasted chicken served in family style fast food. The chicken is consistently tasty and juicy. The sides are pretty good too. The price per person is comparable to KFC but what sets this chain apart is the fire-roasted grilling and the marinade they use on the chicken. Because it's not fried, it's probably better for you too. They have lots of dishes but I recommend the straight off the bone pieces. I read in one of their LA stores that this chain was founded in Mexico and was one of the first chains to cross into the USA. A welcome alternative for chicken dinners! read more

This is my family's go to place for a semi healthy fast food meal. I personally love the chicken tostada salad. My husband always gets the shrimp bowl, and my baby girl can usually make two meals out of the mini chicken bowl. The chicken is always hot, flavorful, and delicious. The skin is crispy and the charbroiled flavor really comes through. The veg in the salad is always fresh including the avo. There is lettuce, tomato, avo, beans, rice, and a health portion of chicken. They usually put sour cream in it but honestly I don't think you need it. I also like the citrus dressing and a tiny bit of the cilantro dressing as well. The one thing is that they do charge .40 for the extra dressing. I am usually fine with paying it since it's a huge portion and my husband likes it on his shrimp too. This salad is $8.99. The shrimps bowl is delicious as well. The shrimp are grilled and in general have a nice flavor. They don't seem weird for fast food shrimp. The bowl has rice and beans with the shrimp scattered on top. We usually double up the shrimp for him to really feel satisfied and that's usually not a problem. Not sure what the cost for the double shrimp totals to but the bowl itself is $8.99. The mini chicken bowl is such a great deal. My little one is two and a half and is going through a very picky eating stage. However when we have crazy chicken she can sometimes eat the entire bowl of food. I will let her too if it isn't too late. The bowl has rice and pinto beans and a good portion of chopped chicken. She loves eating the chicken and a side tortilla. In closing, crazy chicken is one of our lazy night go to dinner joints. They are fast and the food is decent. The location is always busy but you don't wait long for your food. The drive thru can be slow and busy but many times very convenient with a two year old. The employees are generally pretty nice, but there is this one lady that was on her break and kept staring at us while we ate. It was very strange and uncomfortable. They seem to go through phases of bad service/decent service - you just never know when it's going to happen and it really sucks driving 20 mins out of your way to satisfy a craving and not even getting what you came for. I mostly use the drive through, sometimes it's a breeze others you're stuck there for 15+ mins. Sometimes you can see frustrated people back out of the drive through and take off. If you're eating inside, try not to park close to the drive through area because sometimes a line of cars forms and it'll block your way. Good luck getting people to let you out. I lived in the area for years and this was a place my family often visited. Sometimes I go out of my way to get food here - I've eaten here twice in the the last two weeks and both times they've gotten my order wrong, today I didn't even get the right salad -asked for a tostada salad combo and I got one of the cob salad instead, no drink. Asked for a drink with no ice and well... at least she gave me the right kind of soda I asked for and didn't charge me for it. read more

Tasty chicken reasonably priced.... one thing I noticed that hopefully they will stop, is they're cleaning the condiment salsa area with ordinary windex type glass cleaner and they're spraying hitting the salsa and condiments.
