We walked in and Pablo greeted us with so much energy. He took us to our table and explained all the menus. He advised it was DineLA week and suggested the menu. You get an app, main and dessert for 35 per person. We said wow that's a lot of food. Looked at menu and honestly the deal made sense. Miguel was our waiter and he was so nice and always had a smile. We got table side guac, flautas, shrimp and asada plate, 2 item combo- chicken enchilada .... But wait there is more, don't forget the desserts!!! As we ordered we realized this was a lot, but hey we have leftovers for days. Everything was really good. I hadn't been to El Torito in a while and I was coming in a little snobby regarding chain restaurants. Truly dog friendly! The staff was so nice to us even though one of us is a pup. They brought him a bowl of water without even asking. We love that they are dog friendly with roomy outdoor seating- we always bring him with us and sit outside. And they are so good about us ordering for him and make sure to prepare it without onions, etc. He had 3 tacos for Cinco de Mayo! The carne asada street tacos are yummy, with lots of meat. No skimping here! Cilantro and onions were fresh. The chips are fresh and warm. The corn cakes are the best!!! So moist and flavorful. We appreciate how comfortable they made us. El torito is close to our home and we love it but it has become increasingly inconsistent in food flavor, size, quality and presentation. It is Short Staffed. staffingWaiters are nowhere to be found and they won't acknowledge you. sad to get more disappointed every time we go. The bar is amazing . Bartenders are super human, smiling and doing it all. Kitchen brings back the food thrown on the plate sometimes. Orders come back wrong more than not. You have to stop by El Torito Sherman Oaks!! The restaurant is always clean and everybody is very nice with their clients. The food has always been fresh and full of flavor. The restaurant has a very nice Mexican decoration all around and the margaritas are the best. We had the Chicken Taco salad, some Vampiro tacos, choriqueso and of course a fresh made guacamole made right there in front of our table. So I ordered the carne sadat burrito that comes with rice and beans on the side. The burrito looked exactly like it does in their menu, which was nice to see. Viva Mexico! El Torito is a classic Mexican chain restaurant that is very nostalgic to us Mexican American people. They have a little bit of everything from classic cheesy burritos fresh made tableside, guacamole, endless refreshing margaritas and of course those unlimited chips and salsa appetizers. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon on a not very busy day and our waiter already seemed very overwhelmed. He told us that he had almost gotten fired for not cleaning his station properly uh oh....ok. Overall, our margarita was very nice. It was a strawberry margarita with a salt rim. It definitely gave us a nice buzz. The chips were pretty decent. Our food however was not the best I've ever had. Don't get me wrong. It tasted great but the meat was definitely overcooked more than I liked in hindsight I should've requested that they give me the steak very rare as I prefer it. I also had to chase on our waiter twice to get our attention as he never once checked in on us. The food itself was still pretty good. We left very full, so full that we didn't even get dessert as I am a huge sweets person. Overall, I would probably return, but not as often as I return to my other local favorites. This place could definitely use some improvements such as more attentive service and not overcooking the meat. They also do a brunch buffet every Sunday that is delicious with chilaquiles, churros, Mexican eggs and guacamole!! Also the decor in the restaurant is very beautiful and colorful! read more

Please come here on Tuesdays because they happy hour is all day long and it is such a great deal! You can feed yourself and a friend for so little! The service here is amazing they check up on you quite often! The food here is very fresh and it's not too oily. The drinks here are such a great day as well! The parking can be tough, but there is valet for I believe eight dollars to be honest I was just Street Park! Also the Mexican food the barbecue beef the salads everything was great, I love the champagne mimosa and also regular champagne that they gave me. The help Beautiful waitresses was outstanding, the young lady that took care of me and also the other Beautiful young lady who seated me I cannot remember names were so sweet, and the manager Pablo was also excellent. Pablo the manager was absolutely fantastic with helping us plan a great experience. Tony the waiter was great. Totally taking care of us and making sure we were well taken care of. We showed up an hour before closing on a Saturday. We looked to be the only customers in the restaurant. The girls in my group ordered a lot of food. A serious lot where their eyes were much bigger than their stomach although some of the food was to go. The waitress did not even flinch. In terms of the food, my spinach enchiladas was good, consistent with the other locations that I have been to so there's a lot to be said about consistency. The girls of course did not finish their food, asked for a box, then changed their mind in taking home the box. While I was waiting for my Uber after closing, the waitress called me back to hand me a credit card from my friend who forgot it with her signed receipt.
