I'm really looking forward to writing a 5-star review on this place in the future. I came upon Elder Auto from a friend when I had my car had issues after two visits and $1500 worth of work from another mechanic which will be unnamed but their initials are B P. I explained the issues I was having and I actually felt like someone was being honest and compassionate about my situation. I ended up having them do an oil change in addition to the assessment of the issues I was having. Not only did they provide an accurate assessment, they did tell me about the cause of an A/C issue I was having that the other mechanic couldn't/didn't. They also provided important maintenance recommendations that the other place didn't. I really prefer proactive concern rather than feeling like I have a saboteur working on my car. To be honest, I went for cheap previously and I guess you get what you pay for. The quotes I got from Elder for the labor part were significantly more expensive than my previous place, but I have confidence that things will be done right when I go back. read more

I'll just share my experience and let it speak for itself as everyone else has already loaded up the praise for these guys. My old pick up needed front end work + replacing a noisy steering pump. They got if fixed fast and were honest and thorough in describing the work. Hell, they even walked me over to my car when it was ready! The price of the work was reasonable + they added a little discount for first time customer. As I was headed up the mountain, I started hearing a strange noise and had to pull over. It seems power steering fluid was leaking out all over the place. I called them immediately and headed right back down the mountain and straight back to their shop. Needless to say, I was not happy. After taking the truck in straight away, they determined that a pressure hose had sprung a leak and they had one shipped to the shop and repaired everything within a couple of hours. They came out and talked to me about it and apologized and told me they would cover the cost. I went on my way. That is good, honest service that was "beyond expectations"! These guys aren't stupid. My family and I have been taking our cars to Elder Auto for almost 20 years. I have yet to be at the new location (thankfully my car hasn't been sick yet, knock on wood) but my dad said great things about it. Ramon is a great guy and runs his business well. He takes care of his customers like family and is honest with you about prices and labor costs. Ramon will call and tell me exactly what is wrong and what costs what. He will also let me know if he sees something else I might have an issue with down the line and at what point he thinks it will need to be fixed. Unlike other shops, Elder Auto does not talk down to female customers or try to up-sell you because they think you won't know the difference. Being new to Denver and in need of a major tune up, I relied on Yelp to find one for me, and of course you guys came through. These guys are awesome. +Very friendly on the phone +I didn't have to wait weeks to schedule an appointment +They serviced my car for hundreds of dollars less than what I was quoted at other places. I've used Elder Auto for 3 different family cars now and have positive experience every time. I've been impressed with the level of detail when they assess a car and the mechanics I've talked to have explained the issue with the car and helped determine must fix issues to those that can wait for future repair. The non-mechanic help has also been polite and worked with me to get my car in work with my schedule. As others have mentioned, parking can be a little difficult for drop off. I took my 2002 Volvo to Elder for general maintenance--75,000 miles. Complained about a gasoline smell in the cockpit. Original diagnosis made the maintenance people uneasy --me too because of $$$ needed to replace the gas tank. So, Elder continued to search and discovered a crack in the fuel pump, much less costly. I admire their instinct to search past the obvious. Saved me many dollars. And fixed the actual problem. Earned Elder five stars and my repeat business. read more

I made an appointment for 11am on 1/9/15. I brought the car in and ran some errands. I had researched the cost of the two drive belts that need placing and knew that anything over 200$ would have been a rip off. I show up around 1pm and the car had not been looked at and I was reasonably disappointed. I immediately brought it to their attention. Ashley was very helpful and understood my upset, but Tom, a mechanic, tried to exacerbate the situation by saying, "Once you leave your car with us, we just assume that we have all day to look at it...". I don't think it's reasonable to have your car sit for 2 hours before they even look at it. But they charged me around 150$ and I trust that the job was done thoroughly and they alerted me to a nail in my tire that I took care of immediately from my tire seller. Although Tom was a little rude, Ashley and Ken (Service Salesman) were great and I will do business with them again. My advice to Ramon, the owner, when a customer makes an appointment, you gotta take a look at their car within 2 hours. Don't assume you have all day and night to take a look. read more

Always professional. I have recommended them to friends and everyone has come back raving about them as well. I'd love to keep it a little secret, but these guys are honest, personable and will make you wonder how you ever settled for a mediocre mechanic in the past. Ashley and Ramon are the two I usually deal with, but honestly, from sitting in the waiting room on numerous occasions I can say everyone is great. These guys are honest, fast, and have very fair prices. Auto repair experience #1 in Denver: went to Pro Auto Care around the corner and they took a very long time (I actually had to just walk down there at 5:55, since they didn't return any of my calls, and had to bring my car back the next day, since I needed it that night). I felt that the price was pretty outrageous--and my car broke down a week after they fixed it! I took it back and they said it needed a $600 part. Auto repair experience #2 and every time thereafter: Took the car to Elder. They called to update on the status of the car and give me an estimate for repairs. For $800, they fixed about ten things that were wrong, plus did a radiator & air system flush. Had it fixed and everything was smooth sailing. I have never felt ripped off by them. They are also one block from my house, which is very helpful! They also periodically send coupons in the mail if you're a regular, giving you, for instance, $10 off your next oil change, which has saved me quite a bit over the last year. Furthermore, when you do have repairs to be done, they let you know what needs to be done asap and what can wait (they told me, for instance, that an oil leak was very tiny and could probably go 6 more months). I highly recommend this place. It's so hard to find a good, honest mechanic. read more

I've been to a few mechanics in Denver and after getting the run-around from the other places, a trusted friend recommended Elder Auto so I took my old, finacky 1998 Ford Countour to their shop and haven't looked back since. Every experience is great - personal, friendly service; thorough investigation into the problems I bring them, fair recommendations on fixes. Their shop is always clean, lots of magazines to read, they offer coffee, juice, tea, water to drink. The owner, Ramon, is around quite a lot and knows everyone by name and engages in conversation - asking about their family, how the job is going, etc. I especially love that this small business ebraces technology. These guys are great! Professional and reasonably priced. My office manager had an overheating problem with her PT Cruiser and was afraid to drive the car so I dropped it off for her. I let Ramon, the owner (who is a really great guy) know that she needed it fixed as soon as possible. Even though I dropped it off fairly late in the afternoon, the next morning Tom called and said they had found the problem and the car would be ready to pick up in just a few hours. And their price was really reasonable for a thermostat and coolant flush in a PT Cruiser which I understand to be a really pain to replace. I NEVER EVER write reviews. However, this is the moment that time has come. I can't say enough about how nice, attentive, quick, and hardworking these guys are. I was recommended from my boss and so happy I took his advice! Honda not only mislead me by telling me my brakes were fine when indeed at 2 mm they were not. Honda also wanted to charge me $600 before tax to cover an oil leak due to the breader cover on the assembly block needing replacement. Cody, and Ken at Elder WON my business. They fixed my brakes and my oil problem in a day and the charge was MUCH more acceptable. It's not the charge though, it's the honesty and the time they took to earn my business! Go Elder!! Big praise for Elder Auto. Honest auto service is unfortunately a rare commodity. Experience it at Elder Auto. We found Elder via their great reviews on Yelp. Our car's rear brakes were starting to whine, so I expected a full brake job would be needed. Elder was pretty booked, but agreed to fit us in the same day. They inspected the brakes and found that only minor service & lubrication was needed - much less than expected. And the work was completed on the same day. If your car has a case of the sputters, Elder Auto is the place in southwest Denver to take it. Don't let the name and it's obvious homonym fool you! (Seriously, guys, you didn't think people would hear 'Eldorado' and get confused??) This is a family-owned and operated business, and they have outstanding customer service, skilled technicians, and most importantly, they are honest. I brought my Tacoma to them when I needed a replacement turn signal stalk, and they replaced it quickly and perfectly. I also had them do some work on my Corvette. Not only did they inform me that Meineke mislead me into thinking I needed a brake job (when I still had a few thousand miles of pad life left), but they discovered and tightened a hidden, annoying, rattling, loose bolt that had been driving me nuts (pun x2) for the past few thousand miles. They were also willing to machine my rotors, in-house nonetheless, though I didn't take them up on that. Pro-tip: if you need to replace your brake **rotors** (not just your pads), bring your car here first. If the rotors can be machined, you'll likely save a lot vs. replacing them. It's clear from working with them that they are adept at diagnosing and fixing problems in a wide range of domestic cars and imports. If I had a Bugatti, I'd bring....well, no, I would have actually probably pay someone else figure out things like auto repairs had I that kind of money, but you get the gist. They also offer a shuttle service if you don't have a ride to drop off or pick up your car on longer jobs. I would highly recommend this shop for any mechanical repair. I trust them to give me an honest breakdown of the problem, help me determine the best course of action, and do a safe, thorough job. As my car very slowly disintegrates back into the dust from which it came, I am comforted to know that they will be there to help me evaluate its quality of life and help make any tough decisions necessary. Their team is friendly, down-to-earth, straightforward and efficient as hell. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need and we're welcoming and genuine. There's no other auto shop I'd want as my co-pilot as I ride into the dusk of my car's life. I found Elder Auto on Yelp, and with good feedback from some friends I took a Subaru with a blown head gasket in. What an amazing experience with a mechanic. I got a very honest assessment of the car, and they walked under the car with me, showing me everything they were talking about. I brought it back two weeks later, and I was given a three day estimate for the work. The beginning of the day I got a call that gave me some bad news... every repair that I might need I actually did need. But when I told them my total budget, they were able to work with it and get the repairs done. I took my car to Elder Auto because it had been giving me some trouble and I was about to make the 1000+ mile journey back to Austin. I'd taken my car into a few other places during a camping trip in Rocky Mountain National Park, but waned it thoroughly checked out before laying all my concerns to rest. We showed up at 7am, technically 30 minutes before they opened, but they still took us in and even bumped us to the front of the line since we were so early and had to drive back to Texas that day. Naturally, no matter what test they ran on my car, everything seemed to come back normal. They probably worked on it for almost 3 hours, but wound up charging me for just 30 minutes labor and a fuel injector cleaner. VERY cool. The office is very clean and comfortable. They have free beverages (gatorade, juice, tea, coffee, etc), TV, lots of reading material, and even a little porch out front with chairs. For being stuck in an auto repair place, it was pretty good. Before leaving, they told me that if it started acting up on the road, just call them and they would do whatever they could to help. Serious customer service! read more

Ramon and his crew exceeded my expectations once again. I recently had a guest in town and really needed my vehicle but it was not drivable. Rental car companies have less options and are even more expensive too- so getting a rental was not an option for me. Elder Auto fixed two challenges with my vehicle quickly and got me back on the road so I didn't have the stress about being car-less while guests were in town. At one point I even took my vehicle to another shop out of state and was told I needed new brakes. Fast forward to a few months later- I brought the car to Elder Auto and they definitely said I had no reason to get new brakes! My F150 was making a weird noise and I plan on driving cross country in a month. I found these folks online because I liked the good ratings and family business. I asked for an oil change and to check out my weird noise. The checked out my ride and said I needed some new front breaks. But everything else checked out well and my truck was ready for its summer adventure. The oil change was about $75 for 6 bucks of synthetic and a filter. Front break pads and rotors were about $345. They seemed very knowledgeable and professional and I'm not the only one to think so. They had ALOT of cars there and their business was hoppin! read more

Had engine and transmission replaced on my F-150, as with any big job there where things went wrong, but the staff at Elder Auto jumped right on getting them corrected. I have only worked with them for this one job, Cody was very helpful in getting problems resolved in a timely manner as you can tell he cares about his customers. The only negative thing I can say really is that they sell Jasper engines. Other than that keep up the good customer service and I will recommend to others. read more

Been using Elder auto since the day of Virginia Village Texaco(Ramon Elder's original gas station and repair shop-I think it was one of the last "full service gas stations" in Denver) and yes they may not be the cheapest (statement in reply to the one neg reviews) but they are very reasonable price wise. Heck, he has even allowed me to make payments once when times were tough. Shop always clean, staff always friendly, they do go out of their way to help even when it may not have immediate profit for them, always repaired my car without the "FEE FI FO FUM FEE" and always allowed me to inspect the CPU readout and the bad part. Drop off/pick up service available, free drinks(coffee, soda, bottle water, etc) drop box for afte hous drop off available, unfortunately not open on weekends :( As they say "I used them and got no complaints". P.S. They are a Christian owned shop(listen to the hold music). No you won't be handed a bible or a sermon but I think Ramon might take his religious belief as a basis for honesty, integrity and his moral compass in his shop(my opinion-oh yea it's my review..lol). Good news my fellow Yelpers...... his moral compass(whether your religious beliefs or agnostic beliefs are in line with his) means that he will be honest and straight forward.... We found Elder Auto by happenstance. My husband had a flat tire and pulled into a gas station on Holly to fill it with air. A gentleman drove up to him and said I know a great place to get that fixed, follow me, and my husband did. The man took him a few blocks away to Elder Auto. We had such a great experience that we just recently took one of our other cars there for work. When I go in the car after the repair I saw that there was a new warning light on so I went inside and let them know. They were happy to take my car back in the shop immediately and check out the issue. While he was doing that he fixed my front blinker light bulb (not a simple task!). Turned out to be something that should have been fixed by a previous shop. The service here is unmatched and their integrity is top notch! read more

I had an excellent experience that initially started a bit rocky, but their professionalism and patience made all the different. There was a mix-up on scheduling but they did their best to accommodate, and my car was ready sooner than I expected (which understandable can't happen every time, but I was grateful today). Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and they were excellent in describing needs and recommendations (to others I overheard, I didn't need this today). They told me my car was in great shape and didn't need anything extra at all (that doesn't happen very often anymore!). What a find! I had 3k of work done on the front end of my car by Freeway Ford. There was a noise in the car after I picked it up everytime I went over bumps. It sounded bad. I took it back and asked if they missed something and they said they could not find anything wrong. I drove it for a few more weeks but the sound scared me and I knew it was not right. I took it to Elder and they found the issue right away. It was an easy fix and not costly. I was so excited. I picked up my car and was even more suprised to find they had washed it. Not rinsed - a real wash with cleaned windows. I could not believe it. What a find. A auto repair that not only doesnt rip you off and listens to what is going on but cares about your car and returns it CLEAN! I am a customer for life. read more

Only 1 person in a mask. I've been a customer here for years and it was shocking to see everyone, including owners and managers and mechanics walking in and out, without masks. It was freezing outside and had no options but to wait in the lobby. Then I got in my car knowing I had likely had someone without a mask on in it.
