The bar is laid out nicely as well. We tried a few items and they were all good. My fav is the chicken and waffles. The mochi waffles are very moist and buttery. Chicken is seasoned well with that garlic chicken flavor that Hawaii is known for! To those not familiar, think of it as orange chicken but without the orange, but some sweet and salty combo and minimal garlic flavor. Those of you who love your chicken and waffles will enjoy this variation. And don't be afraid of "garlic". You won't even know it's there. Salad was good as well. Nice and fresh. They are not stingy on the shrimp either. Benny was good. Egg was poached perfectly. Soft shell crab cooked well. Ube English muffin was a nice local spin. Not pictured but we also had the Bulgogi pizza. It was good but they have better items on the menu if this is your first time. Desserts capped off the brunch. Also did not disappoint. The restaurant is very clean, and the managers were fantastic...they checked on us frequently and made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was beautiful reminded me of a cafe in New York in a way The server was really nice. I did the risotto with added chicken and the flight of mimosa while my friend did a breakfast plate with the mimosas as well. The risotto was pretty good, chicken was bland and dry I wish I didn't add it on, it was also $8 extra. I'll probably come back to try the lobster club ! The mimosas were very small. They only fill it halfway and I swear it's 80% juice lol I couldn't even taste the alcohol and my friend and I have a very low alcohol tolerance and we both didn't feel buzzed at all. Everything on the menu had a twist of something different. We were told the term farm to table a number of times. The hash browns contained taro...breakfast bowl had quinoa..the unique selections were interesting. The dishes were a little pricey over $20/plate. Delicious brunch spot across the street from Kahala Mall! I came one morning with a friend and got the Matcha Latte with the Garlic Chicken and Mochi Waffle. This dish comes with Soy Maple Sauce (tastes like soy sauce and maple syrup had a baby) and Black Sesame Butter (pretty good!). The mochi waffle had the perfect crispy exterior but bouncy, soft, chewy texture. It definitely hit the spot! The chicken was good, but it was only lukewarm when it reached the table. The service was a bit slow during my visit, but there seemed to be only two people working that morning, so they may have been a bit short-staffed at the time. You have to walk into Kahala Market to get into the restaurant, and the entrance is on the right side of the market right near the entrance. The parking lot is pretty crowded. I got the Crispy Soft Shell Crab Benedict, and all the flavors worked super well together. Everything tasted really smooth (which may sound weird, but if you taste it you'll understand). Our server was pleasant and gave our party some time to fight over the check before we left. The hash browns were a bit tough but tasted good. The base of the Benedict was also very difficult to cut through and things fell apart. My friend got the ube latte and was super satisfied with it, so that's another thing to try when you visit! read more

Met up for brunch on a Sunday at et al. The restaurant is located inside Foodland Kahala. We ordered the Mexican corn avocado toast (3.5/5) to start and that was probably the best dish out of everything we ordered. It looks thrown together and not very refined looking which for me was a bit of a turnoff. Flavor wise it tasted decent. The pesto pizza was ok but nothing I'd order again (2.5/5). It tasted like store bought dough, pesto and cheese. The soft shell crab benedict was not good (2/5) and my Dad got a little sick afterwards so that tells you to stay away. The short rib loco moco was not bad (3/5) the tons of fried onion thrown on top did help flavor wise. Frankly for the prices, I'd probably avoid returning. For what you get, it's high end pricing for average dishes with unrefined execution. I could excuse the plating if the taste exceeded how it looked, but sadly, the dishes tasted how they looked. Service was the one good thing. Our server was very nice and took care of our table. The restaurant is modern looking and had good a/c. Parking is plentiful in the shopping mall lot. Afterwards I ordered Hamakua Clam Chowder with Mushroom Risotto. Clam Chowder was flavorful, savory, and chunky (minced clams, clams in shell with Ulu, and smoked meat). Although, portion was half of a small bowl for $13? Other places would give more, but 2 slices of sourdough came plain without butter which chat taste overtook the soup. I suggest ask for butter or something to tone down the charred flavor. Their mushroom risotto is phenomenal! Food wise we liked the local clam chowder - not too creamy, good amount of clams and ulu is a nice touch instead of potatoes. Cons: bar and service was a bit slow. First time having a meal here. Shared two starters: Maui beets salad was excellent and it included the typical pistachio and the infrequent orange and a complimentary lemon basil pesto. The grilled tako delivered a delicious taste from pickle roots, and a roasted peanut romesco. For an entree enjoyed the tagliatelle with substantial amounts of prosciutto di parma, asparagus and green peas. I've been wanting to check out this place but never had a chance. Got a gift card and it gave me a reason to stop by here. Located inside Foodland Kahala Market. Inside looked fancy to me but people dress very casual when dining here. The open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. It gets busy with locals and tourist. Recommend making a reservation. We came here for a brunch date and ordered a few items to try. So the food took a while because they were trying to serve it all together. A couple of dishes came out warm/coldish. We ordered too much food and was really full. - Mimosas ($13 each) - had the orange one and the pineapple one. Not very citrusy but it was interesting (I don't really drink alcohol). They also have a Mimosa flight option which gives you all three flavors (orange, pineapple, and coconut water) but a smaller size each. - Hawaiian Clam Chowder ($11) - didn't come out hot. It was a bit watery. The toast was salty, had to dip it in the chowder to balance the flavor out. -Breakfast bowl ($17) - pork belly with an egg and veggies on top of garlic/chili oil rice. The bowl was a bit bland, not much flavor but it was one of my favorite. -Garlic chicken mochi waffle ($19) - the food actually came out hot along with the plate. The crispy and juicy chicken tasted sweet and savory. Mochi waffle was pretty good along with it's sesame butter (interesting taste). - Short ribs arancini ($17) - first time having aracini. It seemed like cheese, meat, and peas mashed together and deep fried. It kind of tasted like risotto inside. It was pretty good with the herb aioli sauce. Made reservations for brunch at Et Al in foodland farms. I like the high ceiling and clean contemporary feel. Parking is easy in the large lot shared with other businesses. Their menu isn't extensive but they have a good selection of unique breakfast fare. Short rib fried rice loco moco topped with a heaping pile of fried onions. I had the breakfast bowl with pork belly, avocado, kale, miso mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, crisp carrots, egg, over a bed of garlic rice. For $18 it was pretty good. I thought the rice was a little dry and the flavors weren't super bold but the textures were complimentary and I ate the whole thing up. The avocado toast is $10 for the naked version and it's just simple thick toast with mashed avocado and a squeeze of lemon. I got a kids menu pasta for my daughter and it comes with housemade pasta in a tomato sauce. She loved it. I tried it and the pasta was al dente and the sauce was fresh but lacked salt (good for toddlers). Overall nice brunch place, next time I'll try the fried chicken with mochi waffle read more

Loved loved the ambience even though it was connected to the foodland farms kahala it is very cozy, but classy. Loved the lei on the bar chairs such a nice touch. Food was good.... Nothing super super exciting but enjoyable. The raw oysters were delish, and so was the 3 bone marrow bones that we needed extra sourdough for for appetizers. Thankful for a kids menu for our little ones but also they had a bacon burger with option of regular fries or parmesan garlic. I had the pasta with farfa something with asparagus, peas and proscuitto add shrimp. It was okay because the veggies to me were just a little over powering. Pasta texture was perfect. Tried a bite of my hubbies short rib loco moco which was soft and tasty. We happened to get a complimentary cookie with cereal milk as they were celebrating 12 days till christmas. Met a friend for lunch and although I forgot to take photos of the food, I still wanted to leave a review regarding the overall experience. When we arrived at 11:30am on a week day, there were only a few tables occupied. By the time we left at 2pm, the place was completely packed! For that reason, I'd highly recommend making reservations in advance. They're located in the same shopping plaza as Kahala Mkt across from Kahala Mall and Zippy's. In fact, they're actually located inside Kahala Mkt,, although you can access the restaurant from outside as well. Since there are multiple businesses in that plaza, the shared parking lot fills up fast. We were seated quickly in a comfortable 2-seater. Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive, however after he took our order, it arrived almost 45 min later. I kept seeing other customers who arrived way after us get their food first. Finally he came by and said they had cooked the burger incorrectly and had to re-do it. I'm not sure I believed that because even if they had to re-cook the burger, it still wouldn't have taken that long. I believe that the waiter may have forgot to put our order in and that's why we waited so long, but I don't know for sure what happened. All I know is that we waited awhile. The burger was cooked medium rare per my request, and it was tasty with the sauces and ingredients. It came with Honolulu Meat Co. beef patty, HiSTK bacon, white cheddar, Maui onion confit, jang sauce and fries. The bun was very soft. The price was $22 and I thought that was a bit pricey. The interior is beautiful and nicely spaced out. I noticed that they also have a bar, as well as a Pau Hana and dinner menu. I'd return again to give it a second chance. read more

The benedict came with avocado, Kamuela tomato, arugula, béarnaise, taro muffin, and ulu rosti. It was a great combination of flavors and I enjoyed it so much. The garlic chicken had robust flavor and was fried to perfection. The mochi waffle was not overly sweet and had a lovely, chewy texture. 100% would get both again. Entrees are good portion where you can finish (one could even say smaller than expected). Beet salad is always a great starter. Tonight I tried the pork chop. Great size but was a bit overcooked. Wish it had more sauce since the pork was little dry. Interesting that there's no carbs with it - just came with well cooked Brussel sprouts and onions (didn't need the onions). For brunch, order the Morning Zinger- a fresh mix of carrot juice, ginger, and orange juice to cleanse the palate and start your day. Accompany it with their famed lobster roll- a generous portion of real lobster meat wedged in a sweetly buttered bun prepared scampi style with a tarragon aioli. Lip smacking worthy. They now serve it with fries versus kettle chips. Desserts are to your liking. Nothing wowed me, but I always finish my meal with something sweet and have ordered all of them with zero regret. Now for dinner, going back to perfect timing, may I highly recommend the Grilled Kona Kampachi. I chose this item at last night's work meeting, and was delighted that I did! Although the kampachi is available for both lunch and dinner, the lobster and zinger are a beautiful duo that needs no replacement. Save this one for your dinner entree. I haven't had any bad experience at the place but nothing is overwhelmingly good as well. You can't go wrong with their chopped salad, pasta and hamburger. Some of their signature cocktails are also worth a try. The lemongrass vesper is my favorite as it is quite alcohol forward. Parking can be challenging with so many businesses sharing it. The restaurant got pretty busy later in the evening. I love the architecture of the restaurant, especially behind the wine bar. Everything on their menu sounded so delicious, but I wanted something lighter for dinner. I decided on the pesto pizza, and it hit the spot! I loved the slight smokiness of the crust, and the pesto was very refreshing, with the perfect amount of nuttiness. There was a generous amount of mozzarella too!
