I just want to start off this review with a comment about the service. Kardi was absolutely AMAZING. I loved talking with her and she was so kind and friendly. She gave great recommendations and made the night go by smoothly. Even if the food was bad (which it wasn't), I'd go back just to see her. We had a few appetizers, the Bone Marrow was delicious and full of flavor, but I'd say the Clam Chowder (not pictured because we were starving) was the fan favorite for us, I might get that as a meal next time because it was SO good. Now for the entrees, we got three. I had the Mushroom Risotto with Shrimp, it was definitely worth the hype, by then I was getting full and hadn't finished half of it. My fiancé and I split the Lobster Roll, and I wasn't expecting much because normally Lobster Rolls are small and mediocre, but this one! Was huge! The garlic aioli was necessary if you want more flavor but very worth it! We paired it with the truffle fries which were crispy and fresh another 10/10. And last but not least, their chicken and waffles. It was a Korean Fried Chicken and Mochi waffles which were fluffy and chewy at the same time, I wasn't a fan of the black sesame butter, but that's personal preference. The chicken was crispy and flavorful and is another must get. We shared the Chocolate Macadamia Tart with Kona Coffee Gelato, it was very rich and decedent my favorite part must be the lilikoi caramel, it was different and sweet and tart, but I will be trying the Banana Bread Pudding next time it looked so good! For now, we'll talk about et al. - it's the restaurant located inside Foodland in Waialae Avenue (Kahala). Though I've only tried two of Foodland's in-store dine-in experiences (and both of them have great food offerings), et al. goes on top of my list by a hair. Our friend made table reservations for brunch here, which is on Saturdays and Sundays from 6 am to 2 pm. We shared the Fig & Prosciutto pizza and it was surprisingly good. It's a perfect combination of sweet and savory, and the arugula topping adds to the crunchy texture. Will definitely order that again in a heartbeat. Since I haven't had breakfast yet, I went with a traditional 2 Eggs with Bacon and a big side of Portuguese Sausage; since I know that it might be a while until I eat Portuguese Sausage again. My friends ordered the Loco Moco, which in my opinion generously portioned, and a couple of them ordered Clam Chowder. They all raved about it! And of course, what is brunch without Mimosas?! They also offer a wide selection of wine as well, if that is what you fancy. The service is great. Our server was friendly, and though I got there later than everyone else and placed my order a little later, I got taken care of right away. You can enjoy Pau Hana daily too from 2 pm to 5 pm. There's an abundance of parking, however, it can be busy so I suggest arriving early (the reason why I was late). So back to why having dine-in service inside a grocery store is genius... Hamakua mushroom risotto was incredibly delicious. Nice texture, fabulous taste, and generous with the mushrooms. Always love to support our Hawaii farmers :) 2. I came here for breakfast with my friends and it was pretty empty so we were able to sit in a open spot. We were excited to try since we had heard good things and my friend already said the dinner was good. The staff was nice and the space looks really nice as well. I ordered the breakfast bowl and while overall it wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. It seemed like the sentiment across my friends as well as we all felt like we wouldn't order whatever we got again. It's possible we had high expectations. The drinks we got were dragonfruit italian cream soda and tiny bubbles. The highlighted favorites was the garlic chicken and mochi waffles that came with a black sesame butter and soy maple syrup, seasonal crudo which was super nice and refreshing, and the breakfast bowl because the pork belly was super tender! Another highlight was the rosemary hashbrowns that came with the soft shell crab benedict! Kahala is very far from where I live on the island, but I'd like to come back here for brunch or any other meal because it was that good and it was very memorable. I'd had it before but didn't like the aioli so I asked if I could have it with just butter and mayonnaise. They said yes... so lobster rolls it was. The second time we dined, it was my birthday and our server was kind enough to add a scoop of coffee gelato and a candle to my dessert (chocolate torte). My current favorite brunch meal is the garlic chicken and mochi waffle. It comes with this sesame butter that is just *chefs kiss". Food was good compared to what they charged for, but my last visit was when they first opened. Nothing served tonight remotely tasted like several years ago. The pork chop was very disappointing. We looked over the menus and started with some drinks. They have a big cocktail list as well as wines and beers. We also started with clam chowder and the special of the day which was a Kampachi ceviche. My friend mentioned that she loved their clam chowder so we had to try it. It was packed with lots of clams and meat and came with a generous portion of bread to dip. The kampachi was also a nice portion with at least two slices of fish on top of a watermelon radish. It was very refreshing and came with some shiso for a nice touch of flavor. For entrees, we decided to do family style and shared the chicken ludovico and the pappardelle. I appreciate that they give a big portion for each entree. This is definitely a spot to go to and you will get your moneys worth. The chicken came on top of fried broccolini and a clear soup broth. I thought it was a tad dry but still tender and cooked well. The pasta was also great and came with fried kale along with a nice meat sauce with tomatoes. Wow this place was a totally spontaneous booking, but I am so glad I tried it! My mom, my toddler and I were getting together with a couple of family friends and we really wanted to do a nice brunch. He was super on top of things, and he had great recommendations for the menu. The manager also came out to check on us in the middle of the meal, and overall their service is exceptional. The food itself was really interesting! I was nervous after looking at the menu, since some of it seems kind of out there, but 3 of us got the avocado toast, different ways at the suggestion of our server (i.e. I got the plain avocado toast but added bacon and egg on top). I wasn't sure what $13 avocado toast would look like but it was definitely decked out! I couldn't finish it all. My mom got the crab benedict and said it was delicious. I am so glad they have a keiki menu and were super kid-friendly. Going out with a toddler is always a little unpredictable, but she did great! She got the mochi waffle, which she loved and I ended up eating some too. I also had to try to ulu latte, just for the novelty. It was surprisingly good. The bathrooms are a bit far and outside of the market, which was a little annoying, but just because I have a very slow toddler with me. That's not the restaurants fault, just something to note. A supermarket restaurant? Located in a small shopping center, we were able to find a parking space near the restaurant. We entered through the entry by the parking lot but you can enter from the Kahala Market, which might the main entrance since the hostess was located there. Kahala Market is a Foodland Market and I found out that et al. was Foodland's third restaurant after opening Redfish Poke Bar and Mahi'ai Table in Kapolei's Foodland. The interior of Et al was modern, bright, upscale casual with high ceilings. Meeting our friends for brunch, we were seated at a nice table off to the side, affording better environment for conversation. The menu had some starters and about 11 entrees. We started with fresh shucked oysters with a yuzu kosho mignonette and the short rib arancini in a green pea sauce, herb aioli, lemon zest and pecorino. The oysters were very fresh and the shortrib filled crispy arancini were delicious. I had a coffee and they use beans from Kona Coffee Purveyors. For my entrée, I had the braised short rib loco moco. The short rib with short rib gravy was on fried rice with a medium cooked sunny side egg on top. The loco moco was covered with crispy onion. Never had a loco moco with short rib and it took this classic dish to another level. Friends had the Smoked House Cured Salmon Toast and the Crispy Soft Shell Crab Benedict. The food here looks delicious and are beautifully plated. You wouldn't think this being a supermarket restaurant. But the food here is delicious and the atmosphere is so pleasant. I was excited to try this new restaurant. They are quite busy so we could only get the first-come-first-serve bar seating. That's fine. I wanted to get an appetizer, but didn't find anything that was appealing to me. I got the mushroom risotto as my main dish which I thought was ok. It wasn't anything special. I wouldn't rush back to get it. I'll probably try the fish dish next time. There are lots of parking stalls right out front. read more

This review is basically about Pau Hana but has dinner entrees mixed in also. We really like it. It starts at 4pm and is very tasty. Chicken wings and sliders are really good and only $5- Other faves are Chicken pate and fresh ahi poke with sauce. The Pizza is pretty good and for $14- not bad. Entrees that we like are the Lamb chops $48- Didn't like the mushroom Risotto , not the right rice. Sent it back. Drinks are very good and strong. $9- during hh. I really enjoyed their mushroom risotto and their banana bread pudding! The staff here are very attentive and personable! The location has lots of parking availability and the restaurant itself is quite nice! (despite being inside a foodland grocery store) overall I really love this place and revisit every time I come home! read more
